My sister-in-law always said to me, “I love you because you take care of my sister, but I don’t believe one word that you say. I don’t believe in immortality. I believe that we are immortal only through the loins—-our children who are our extension in this world.” I said to her, Aren’t you a good Christian? She said, “Oh, yes!” Well, she is a pillar of her church, the Episcopalian church. So I said, “How can you say you are a good Christian and say there is no immortality? Why, the foundation stones of Christianity are: the fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man, and life everlasting. You can’t remove one of these stones and not have the whole thing topple. So you say you are a good Christian, but you do not believe in life everlasting. You may have the first two—-fatherhood of God, brotherhood of man, but you can’t rub out the third, for this is a God of the living, not a God of the dead.” She said, “I still don’t believe in your teaching.” Alright.238 ¶16
