May I tell you, at that time in her life six years ago, she felt quite low in spirits, quite low physically, and really entertained the thought that she would make in the not distant future her exit from this world. So the hand of death is not, as the world thinks, some wonderful poetical figure of speech. God is man and everything in this world is personified as man, yes, even death, but everything in this world. And I knew him well. And that was before I had the experience of being born from above. I would have to have known him well to reach the point where I could be born from above, for every man goes through death after death after death in this world having accepted the idea that he would come out as God. And so I saw what I called my friend, I knew him so well.246 ¶18
