Then on Saturday night of that very week she was informed by this man who did not entertain this thought until Wednesday of that week. She started on Monday morning and this man had said to her all through the years that he knew her: “I will never give you a nickel, so don’t look forward to any money from me.” They were friendly, they were friends, but he always said to her, “We have had fun together. I’ve paid for all the expenses in this world, like the theater and all these things. That’s all you’re getting from my world.” And she believed it until I said to her the previous week, “Don’t you read my books? Go back and read the story of a lady in the book called The Law and The Promise , and turn to the chapter called ‘Moods.’ That lady was just about your age, she is fifty-six, and you tell me sometimes you’re fifty-five, the next time you’re sixty-five, I don’t know. So I would say you’re both the same age. So you go back and read that book. But if you don’t have time to read it, let me tell you what she did.” So I told her exactly what the lady did. This is now on a weekend. The following Monday morning she began to put it into practice. So I made it very, very clear to her, you are the operant power. Knowing what to do and doing it are two entirely different things. So she did it religiously for five mornings.787 ¶30
