One exhausts the entire police force of New York City. Lost her furniture…can’t find the furniture. She and her two children went to Paris, leaving a maid behind to take care of her apartment. She returned with her children; there is no maid. The apartment is there but no furniture. She investigates. Nobody knows where the maid is or where the furniture is. She seeks the help of the police force, of the detectives of New York City. Calls in a private detective agency; they exhaust all of the suburbs. They can’t find where it is stored, if it is stored. One day she comes out of a bank on Madison Avenue, makes the wrong turn, and didn’t discover her mistake and she went a block. Then looking down at the pavement she spots a pair of very familiar ankles. She came slowly up to the face…it’s her maid. She held the maid and wouldn’t let her go until the maid took her in a taxi straight to where she had that furniture.806 ¶25
