Neville recounts his own life as guided by the Father: shipped two thousand miles away to school as a boy with no friends or relatives to receive him, jobs lost or quit, being taken to London where a retired engineer interested in the psychic world gave him the first spark of this way of thinking, and then living in second-hand bookstores in New York and carrying his library with him on tour as a dancer, reading between shows while the others played cards.
