Neville describes his own life as the continual betrayal of the messianic secret: he plays Judas every Monday and Friday night from the platform and every time a friend telephones him.
The first time Neville told the story of his crucifixion experience — the night after it happened, in New York City, on lecture night — his friends reacted with "who does he think he is".
The night before the lecture Neville spent the whole night visiting friends and his dead brother in the world beyond death, finding them young and living with the same likes, hatreds and problems they
Years ago in New York City Neville was present when an unemployed liquor salesman, who could not pay his rent, lectured a successful salesman on what his firm was doing wrong.
He speaks of years of listeners taking his lectures down on tape, in shorthand and in longhand, and hopes one of them will compile the narrative.
