Neville's brother Victor, at nineteen, saw a building on Main Street bearing 'F. N. Roach and Company' and would not move each morning until he had re-read the marquee as 'J.N. Goddard and Sons'; two years later the building came up for sale, a stranger with a lawyer bid on their behalf though they had no money or collateral, and they owned it — bought in 1921 for fifty thousand dollars and sold nine years ago to the Bank of Nova Scotia for eight hundred and forty thousand.
