In a vision early that morning Neville found himself seated on the floor of a small bare square room in an ancient robe, teaching about twelve ordinary men the mystery of God, until one of them left to report what he had said and a tall, majestic authority entered, hammered a blunt peg into Neville's right shoulder, cut the sleeve away with a circular motion of a sharp instrument, exposed his bare right arm, and embraced and kissed him on the right of the neck before the scene dissolved.
