Lying on his bed on El Camino in Beverly Hills, Neville saw the interior of a luxurious hotel, stepped into it a dozen or more times, and on deciding to explore found the world closed around him as solid as this one; he told two ladies in the hallway it was a dream, woke within that dream holding an object, realised he had left his wife and daughter unprotected, and returned to his cataleptic body by imagining a pillow under his neck.
