In the thirties Neville was asked by a wealthy Barbadian father, through his own father, to find his estranged alcoholic son Ken in New York and bring him home; they found him in the gutter, and Neville got him, stopping at every speakeasy on the way from Coney Island, onto the boat for the ten-day voyage — Ken survived, outlived everyone, inherited a quarter of a million dollars and lives in Barbados vegetating.
