Neville tells of meeting Blake, who taught him to see the whole of humanity gathered into one man; Blake told him to fall backwards, and he fell as from a high-diving board through interstellar space until he came upon a heavenly being whose heart blazed like a ruby and contained all the nations and races of the world.
