Neville describes waking at 1:30 that same morning, remaining in bed, and dropping into a state where he stood in a world just like this one telling his wife, his brothers, his friends and members of his audience that he could wake and they would cease to be; they did not believe him, he woke on his bed, and he repeated the stopping and starting of that world four times.
