Neville recalls living at 32 Washington Square next door to Roosevelt at 29, and being stopped by police as he came home about a week before the November election of Roosevelt's fourth-term campaign, seeing the dying, wizened President ride in an open car in the cold rain while Mrs. Roosevelt distracted the crowd with an armful of roses and men lifted him out bodily.
