Last summer Neville argued with his friend Jim, who said the survival of a body after death was beyond him, by pointing to everyday miracles — bread turned into blood and tissue, the flowers in Jim's little desert garden, one of which Neville watched bloom out of what looked like a rock in about two hours — and then challenged Jim's wife to produce one piece of evidence for the theory of evolution.
