Lying on his bed, Neville's inner eye opened and he watched a casually dressed man walking a city sidewalk who dropped something by an open coal hole, bent down and picked up lumps of coal instead; when his attention relaxed and re-concentrated, the identical scene replayed unchanged, so that he could then prophesy every detail of what the man would do.
