In New York City the past summer/fall, Neville's Jewish podiatrist Hal told him of a prominent lady, a Christian Scientist trying to convert Hal, who had read Neville's books but would not attend his meetings because he was a divorced man who had lived with a woman before marrying his present wife; Hal urged her to forgive, and Neville asked Hal why he supposed he needed her forgiveness.
