In 1926, aged twenty-one and working in the theater, Neville was invited to a medium's home on Riverside Drive in New York, attended his darkened circles of about thirty people, and discovered the luminous lights were phosphorus the man had put on his rug; when challenged the medium admitted it, and Neville never went back — the same man is the one Bishop Pike now believes implicitly, and who three or four years ago in New York asked Neville to accept that he is now genuine.
