Neville recounts his vision of leading an enormous festive crowd, a voice declaring "And God walks with them", a woman in Arab robes at his side asking "Is Neville God?" and the voice answering "Yes, in the act of waking" - followed by the voice from the depths of his soul saying it had laid itself down within him to sleep and dream, and his experience of the crucifixion as six vortices in his own body.
