Many years ago Neville found himself walking in an enormous crowd in oriental dress; a voice cried "And God walks with them", a woman asked where he was and was told "At your side", and when she turned and saw Neville she laughed and asked "What, is Neville God?" — to which the voice answered "Yes, in the act of waking"; then the voice told him "I laid myself down within you to sleep, and as I slept I dreamed a dream", and vortices nailed him to his body.
