Neville recounts his vision of the betrayal: sitting robed on the floor teaching the Word of God to twelve men, one leapt up and went out to inform the authorities; a tall, richly robed man of great authority entered, drove a wooden peg into Neville's right shoulder with a mallet, cut away the light-blue sleeve, then embraced and kissed him on the neck, and the scene faded.
