Persons
Neville recounts meeting his teacher Abdullah for the first time in New York City, on the recommendation of a Catholic priest he did not much respect. Abdullah greeted him as though already expecting him, saying 'Neville, you are six months late' and explaining that 'the brothers' had told him Neville was coming; in some tellings Abdullah adds that the two of them had known each other in China thousands of years before. Neville gives the year of this first meeting inconsistently across lectures — sometimes 1929, elsewhere 1930 or 1931.
