In the 1933 Barbados-trip narrative, Neville recounts that on the morning of the 3rd or 4th of December he received a letter from his brother Victor enclosing a $50 draft, inviting him home for a family Christmas none of the nine siblings had shared together before and giving him the means to sail on the last ship out, 6 December.
