Well, my dear, if you have that eye that you speak of, I do not know of it. I do not know of that eye of which you speak. I know of visions. I know of the story of scripture. It is not mentioned in the Bible. But there are certain schools of thought that will teach self-salvation, and how they’re simply going to conjure from the base of their spine a certain force, and all of this is self-deception, complete self-deception. It is faith, faith in whom?—faith in God. I walk limited in this world…I’m so bound to this garment. When I heard this story, I didn’t understand it. Because mother told it to me I believed it, but I couldn’t quite understand it. And then came the eruption of the story in me and then I understood it. If she were here tonight and I told her what happened in me, that darling would not quite accept it, I know. Mother would be too disturbed and she would not want to believe in this power within herself. She would rather believe in what she believed before she departed this world, an external savior, something that is on the outside. And though she loved me dearly, because I am her child and she nursed me and raised me, she knows all the weaknesses and limitations of her son, she couldn’t quite go along with me. So I wouldn’t blame anyone else if my own mother would not go along with me. I know my brothers don’t…they think I’m completely mad. That’s what they said of Paul. They said, “That is to say, O Paul, your great learning is driving you mad. He answered, Festus, I am not mad. Were that everyone in the world were as I am…minus these chains”. But he thought him mad. Here was the Pharisee of the Pharisee making a claim and defending what formerly he tried to rub out because it hadn’t yet happened in him. When it happens in a man, what can you do? You can’t deny the evidence of the senses. It’s more real than anything that happens in this world, it’s forever. So he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. It’s the body that I wear when I am not in this body. It’s not anything that you can describe. It’s a human face, human voice and human hands…don’t go beyond it. It is human…don’t try. He said, “I will be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness”. Until then keep me as the apple of the eye. So I will be satisfied…when it happens I will be satisfied. That body will be the human form divine, which is all love, infinite love. That’s what it is, nothing but love. You can hardly believe this world as we see it is really guided by a being of love, and it is.748 ¶64
