He mentions a second letter received that day, from a friend present in the audience, describing an experience of moving into the kingdom of heaven, which he will treat at a later meeting.

Neville's dentist Jim told him at the chair yesterday that at a recent dental convention the talk turned to immortality, and when asked whether he knew anyone who actually knew, Jim said he was seeing such a man in his chair that day.

Neville reads a man's two dreams sent to him — pulling many feet of wire out of his own neck after shaving in Paris, and finding a name on a long list and marking it with an asterisk — and interprets them from Jeremiah and Isaiah as the yoke being taken off his own neck and the great honor of God unveiling himself in him.

He recounts the morning's eight o'clock television news, which showed pictures of Hughes and Getty and reported that their private fortunes of over a billion dollars each would yield $175,000 a day at six percent.

Neville tells of Bill Donovan, a prejudiced man who went blind-drunk alcoholic while really searching for God, joined AA, has not drunk for a dozen years, and took Neville out to dinner where he explained that he and his wife Becky, who met in AA, never touch a drop.

Watching the televised feature race the previous week, he heard the young jockey Angel Cordova say after winning that riding ability has nothing to do with it - it is all in feeling lucky - which Neville takes as an unwitting use of Christ, the human imagination.
