Description
From his dancing years: his dancing partner's father, Pop Johnson, whom Neville called Pop and who was like a father to him, loathed homosexuals and wanted Neville to fire Howard, a flamboyant and terrific dancer in the act; Neville refused. Pop then dreamed an orgasmic encounter with his own brother and felt unclean for a month, and Neville told him it served him right. Howard later missed a show after winning first prize at the Mummers' Ball in New York, escorted by three men from West Point and three from Annapolis.
