A woman told Neville a series of visions - passing Point Conception thirty miles back, hearing a voice call 'Father', seeing an infant and a youth when she cupped her eyes, and embracing a criminal who turned out to be a long-dead friend - and Neville interpreted the thirty miles as thirty years and told her her birth from above was imminent.

Neville reports that many in his audience have lately had visions of his departure, one lady seeing him leave his garment on the stage while speaking on the law, stand lifeless behind the podium, then return with difficulty and finish; he says he wishes her vision were true and that he has now told her all he can of the law.

A Los Angeles woman told Neville of a vision in which she sat alone in a glass-fronted marble interior, saw him step from a self-propelled carriage wearing an Inverness cape, speak only of Infinite Power without recognising her, and then re-enter the carriage and vanish; she kept saying it was Neville and it was God.

Neville names friends — Bob, Christine and Benny — in whom the same drama has unfolded, and says he would compile their accounts with his own the way Luke compiled his narrative.

A woman came to his home about a problem, they ended up discussing something else entirely and went into the silence on that other matter; she then crossed on the Staten Island ferry, ate cabbage and sausages at a German restaurant without a thought for her chronic stomach trouble, and had no distress.

Another lady writes of a dream in which she watched a child by a cavern of running water while Neville stood high above them, and heard the words 'Can a man bear a child?' - words Neville identifies as Jeremiah 30.

Another woman told Neville a vision in which she held an elongated box, knew she was inside it, and heard her own voice say she was Joseph and could not get out until he became Jesus; Neville read it as the coffin in Egypt at the end of Genesis.

The same friend told him a dream in which a woman teaching the law ranted against Neville as insane, and when asked how she would feel if she imagined she were God, screamed that the questioner should be in the same institution with Neville.

A second Los Angeles woman told Neville of a vision in which he stood robed in white on a beach before a vast crowd of every nationality, each hearing him in their own tongue, and she knew he was both Neville and Jesus.

Neville reads a letter from a woman friend who, aching and unable to meditate, told herself to leave the body behind, fell asleep, and dreamt of a train journey ending on a mountain top where an old uniformed conductor told her she must go back because scripture must be fulfilled.
