A television writer now in the audience gave Neville a long letter this past week telling how his mother, visiting from the east a year ago last Christmas, was unimpressed by his $3,000 a script and simply assumed he got $3,500 — after which the producer pushed him to ask for more and his agent came out with a $3,500-a-script contract.

A writer in his audience handed Neville a letter after the previous Tuesday's meeting, describing how he solved a story problem by imagining himself in Robert Louis Stevenson's shoes, and then realised in the shower that his friend Eddie — the limping, mildly insane man who lives in a tent in the Hollywood hills — was identical to a character he had invented six years earlier.

Retelling a story he told the previous Friday: a professional writer friend realised in the shower that his friend Eddie, met by accident two years earlier, was identical with the central character of a story dictated to him six years before, and re-read Neville's chapter "There is no Fiction" in The Law and The Promise.

Neville received a two-page handwritten letter, from a man present in the audience that night, telling how after four fruitless years of mailing metaphysical books to his ill mother and war-damaged brother in the Midwest (books they threw straight into the ashcan unread), he instead held an imaginary letter in his brother's handwriting for three weeks and then received real letters from both saying they had never felt better.

Neville reads a letter received that week from a man present in the audience: forty years earlier, at seventeen, on the family wheat farm in Washington, a mare called Pansy stepped on his big toe and ruined the nail root; after reading The Law and the Promise he revised the injury in imagination for three nights, and a new perfect toenail grew in, the man ending his letter 'for so little I was given so much'.

He retells the story, told the previous week, of his friend Ward who slept in the assumption that he was in a Denver bakery next to the deep freeze and was invited to Denver by a friend the next day, and by a second party the day after.

A gentleman who normally attends told Neville that his brother said he should stop coming to Neville because their business had grown beyond what they could handle, which the man offered as a verbal testimony.

Neville told a beauty-parlour receptionist to read the 'Moods' chapter of The Law and the Promise; she bathed each morning in the feeling of financial security for five mornings, and that Saturday a friend who had always said he would never give her a nickel settled a tax-free $540 a month on her for life, plus two months in Barbados — from where she phoned Neville with news of his family.

A woman present at the lecture told Neville three weeks earlier that her father had died; he gave her the same revision exercise as the 1944 Bible-class lady and within a week she met her father in vision and knew he had survived.

Neville's wife woke too early that morning, dwelt on wanting her husband and daughter blissfully happy, and dreamed of Neville saying he was not comfortable and would rather sleep above, and of putting a puzzle together with their daughter Vicki, who laughed as a piece fell perfectly into place and looked prettier and happier than she had ever seen her.

A woman who had heard him took thirteen goals and realised every one; then, sitting in the Silence, she saw Neville appear lifelike in her skull and tell her she was looking at her problem instead of the wish fulfilled — a story she sent him in a letter asking him not to tell it from the platform, and she is present in the audience.

Neville reads from a letter he received that day, from a man who revised the news that his out-of-work friend had been turned down for a job and then learned the friend had been given a better one and was leaving Sunday for New York and training in Connecticut.

During the past week a woman who lives in the Palisades, present in tonight's audience, told him she had experienced the negative side of his own vision: something turned her off, the ocean and everything went dead and she was literally nothing, until she was turned on again.

Two friends, Tom today and Larry a few days ago, brought Neville visions which he says are scripture and part of the preparation for the unfolding of God's promise.
