A friend came to Neville's home for dinner a couple of weeks earlier and quietly slipped into his pocket, in the kitchen while Neville was pouring him a drink, a letter containing a three-part vision, which Neville read casually that evening, again after the friend left, and again the next morning.

A family circle is staying at his home — grandchildren on their way back to Vietnam where their father is a Marine flier — and that morning his wife caught one small boy with the matches, and when she threatened to spank him he said he was going to shoot Granny dead.

Neville mentions a friend's dream of a few nights ago in which something starts from the centre and works toward the surface.

A friend told Neville how in the spring of 1967 the book Your Faith is Your Fortune fell off the shelf at the Glendale library three weeks running until he read it; he later saw Neville's newspaper ad and he and his wife began attending the meetings, and in a letter he shared a vision of finding a baby on his car seat and declaring three times that he was its father.

He recalls having told the audience at the previous meeting a saying given him by a very dear friend: spend a needed dollar as though it were a dried leaf and you the owner of unbounded forests.
