Ann, a prostitute who attended all his New York meetings and lived at the Ansonia, imagined wearing an $18 hat she saw in a window; a friend later gave her that very hat, and Neville questioned her until she admitted she would never have bought it even with $100 in hand.

Returning from Barbados this year Neville found a letter waiting from a friend (present at this lecture) containing two stories: how the friend imagined abundance for a hard-up office colleague who then came into an inheritance, and how he imagined success for a barber who then topped his class and bought the shop.

Neville describes Doris, the Catholic woman who cleans his home every Monday, and how he consoled her about a friend's smashed car by telling her that God made her and only man makes cars, which changed her life.

Neville tells of the letters that reach him nightly from his audience, including one from a lady who dreamt she met her former boyfriend's mother and answered her question about God by saying Christ is not external.

A woman friend told Neville of a lost dream about David after which she woke hearing the words 'Thou art like a wing'd star and I have shot thee very far', noting the Blake-like spelling wing'd, and wrote them down.

The same correspondent told Neville how, after his old barber's shop closed, he chose the number-four barber in a new shop, learned the man wanted to attend an internationally recognised barbering school, imagined him graduating top of his class, and the barber then did so, bought out the owner, changed the personnel and hired a receptionist.

A man who has only recently begun attending told Neville a dream in which, searching for someone important to him, he saw a crowd part and a young man standing alone point at him and say 'You are Father'; Neville called it a foreshadowing.

When Neville's friend Clarissa died, Kathleen Norris wrote to her husband saying she had never known a more giving person, one who never sent a letter without enclosing a recipe, a poem or a clipping.

A friend waiting for Neville in the lobby of the Palace Hotel in San Francisco saw him come through the revolving door as a stag with antlers reaching beyond the three-storey ceiling; his artist friend later drew a picture of it, showing him in the same suit he wore then.

Neville speaks of Kim's death: he was a dentist who taught dentistry at USC and the best dentist Neville knew, he was only fifty when he left this world, and Neville says he is now restored in his early twenties in the same terrestrial world, unaware of being dead.

A second letter brought Neville a woman's dream of throwing a captain and a lieutenant into a pool and then finding herself bleeding in a ladies' room, which he interprets for her as the discarding of violence for forgiveness.

A friend of theirs with a home in the Valley, Cathy, painted her kitchen, found the bill over estimate, told her mother she wanted money, and then won $800, a piano and a two-week trip for two to St. Thomas on a television show Neville was told to watch at 10:30 on Channel 4.

While Neville was teaching for nothing in New York, his father — who had built a fortune from nothing on the island — made a will leaving equal parts to all ten children, including Neville, who alone had lived away and had not contributed to the family business.

Neville dined with his friend John Van Bruton about three weeks before his death; afterwards Carter Lodge and Dick, choosing a coffin, were shown a sprung, mirror-lidded casket and pressed for some $15,000, and Carter bought a pine box and invested the estate instead.
