Neville notes that after nine years lecturing at the Ebell, many longtime attendees still drifted there out of habit even after he moved to a new venue. The week before this lecture, several people went to the Ebell looking for him, and the staff on duty had no idea where he had gone and could not direct them to his new location.

At dinner with two friends whose names he withholds, the wife told him that the man who really owns their vast building empire had begun as Al Capone's bookkeeper.

While Neville was in New York for a five-week visit, he and his wife had dinner with close friends including their hostess Louise, a painter. His wife, also an artist, admired one of Louise's newer paintings as far more alive than her earlier, 'frozen' work, prompting Louise to immediately insist the painting be given to her. Neville's wife repeatedly refused over several further meetings, but on the night of the last meeting before Neville left New York, Louise arranged for one of her sons to bring the painting to the airport the next day so it could be flown home with them.

Neville recounts that at last Tuesday night's meeting, when they went into the Silence, a very sensitive woman who attends said 'I am he' to herself and heard a voice reply 'Leave it alone. It is true.'; she wrote the experience out and gave it to him that night.
