Description
Neville tells of a woman who, two years earlier, had been ordered from her daughter-in-law's home; for those two years there was no contact with her son's family, and even the gifts she sent her grandson went unacknowledged. After hearing Neville's teaching on the art of 'revision' -- mentally rewriting a day or a relationship as one wishes it had gone -- she began nightly imagining two loving letters, one from her daughter-in-law and one from her grandson, reading them over until she fell asleep. Within about a week (the lecture telling says the eighth day; the fuller book telling in The Game of Life says the ninth) she received an actual envelope containing two letters, from her daughter-in-law and grandson, closely echoing the ones she had imagined and ending the estrangement.
