About five years ago, visiting the family in New York City, the boy Neville Mark told Neville he felt he was wearing a mask and could not wait to die so he could turn around and see his true identity, which upset his wealthy mother.

A man from Baltimore, whose problem years earlier had been money, told Neville he is now making four times what he made then and making it more effortlessly; Neville urged him to go further, thinking in terms of an extra five or ten thousand a year for his daughter's private college.

A lady told him that while she was reading one of his books a friend came by and said she preferred Dr. X, because when Neville says God is man he sounds as if he means it.

Neville describes his father as a man who began with no education, background or money, raised ten children, never inherited a nickel, and died at 85 leaving an estate of over $25 million built purely from his daily practice of the controlled daydream.

Neville tells the story of a friend, born poor in a Jewish family in Odessa, Russia, who as a boy running money to the bank imagined the cashier making a mistake in his favour, had it happen the next day, wrestled with his conscience and then ate and bought clothes with it; he later left Russia through France, learned that the law is spiritual, never sued a customer but wrote unmailed thank-you letters for cheques, and died of a heart attack at 77 leaving millions.
