Benny came home last Saturday night and reminded Neville of a vision in which Neville, asked to tell the story of Jesus, answered that it is persistent assumption.

Benny came home on Saturday and described his vision of a fair, blond, blue-eyed lad who called him Father — David — and Neville, whose skin is olive and Benny's very dark, rejoiced that they are father of the same son and therefore one.

About a week earlier a couple came to see him, said they had not heard him in years, and thanked him because a statement in his book which he repeated that night had helped them.

He reads a letter received that week in which the writer describes searching for a weapon against an enemy and then, in an ancient setting before a waiting crowd, tying his enemy down and striking him with a long-bladed ax but deliberately pulling the punch; Neville interprets it as a foreshadowing of being split in two and releasing the imprisoned Christ.

Neville tells of a letter he received that week from his friend Bill, describing a vision in which Neville stood on a platform teaching and shot four arrows into him marked resurrection, David and ascension, the fourth bearing a white dove; Bill also dreamed of a man inviting him to a great feast and promising to come again on the 17th.

He recounts receiving and reading out a series of letters from women correspondents describing their visions — the groups of women on a conveyor belt, the feeding of a houseful of people, the white horse and stable, the white dog tucked in like a baby, the man whose skull opened to show a tiny crowned head, the babe by the water, the half carcass on the corral gate, and the woman crucified on the mast of a boat — and interprets each from scripture.

A barber, the fourth and most junior stylist in a four-chair shop, confided to a customer (a friend of Neville's) that he longed to enter a hairstyling contest in San Francisco. The friend, applying Neville's teaching, imagined the barber already victorious and pictured a trophy on the shop's shelf; the following month, three of the shop's four barbers actually competed and brought home four of the nine trophies awarded, with the shop owner taking first and second place.

A second lady wrote of a series of three dreams two days later, in which Neville taught the group a wholly new language, then helped them use it, then told them 'I must die to the flesh in order to live in you' — the dreamers being separate in the first dream, linked in the second, and one in the third.

Neville's friend Bennie recently told him a vision in which six black neighbours ran toward him with knives, their bodies lacerated but healed, and one of them told Bennie that even if he wanted to he could not stop the violence.

A lady recently told Neville she saw herself come out of herself as an old woman holding a child, and that same night saw a huge ear, a hammer and a spike, with invisible hands driving the spike painlessly through her own ear.

A correspondent (identified elsewhere in the same lecture only as 'my friend Bill') wrote to Neville describing a dream from the previous Monday night: an unknown man invited him and others to a beautiful feast filled with love, then said, "I have prepared a great, great feast. I am coming again to take you with me. I am coming on the 17th." Neville related the letter in his lecture 'Eschatological Visions' (1968-04-05, the night after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination) and used the number seventeen as a springboard into a numerological digression on its biblical and Hebrew symbolism.

A woman wrote to Neville describing a vision in which a voice asked her the color of her sepulcher; she answered "white" and described it as elongated, narrow, and round at the end. She wondered if this connected to the "whited sepulchers" of Matthew 23, but Neville told her it did not: the true mystery is that Golgotha, the place of the skull, is her own head, and the resurrection she is being shown is an individual, inward event rather than the moral hypocrisy Matthew's Pharisees were accused of. He related her letter in the lecture "Suffering Is Like That of David" (1968-04-08), delivered days after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination and shortly before that year's Good Friday and Easter.

A woman wrote to Neville the week before, reporting that a conversational voice asked her the colour of her sepulcher and she answered, without thinking, that it was white, long, elongated, narrow and round at the end; Neville explains the whitening of sepulchers before Passover and confirms she was describing her skull.

Neville read letters from two women present in the audience, each describing a mystical experience. The first, on April 4, 1968, found herself summoned by Neville into a group that included her son-in-law Bill and others named Marta, Marge, Natalie and Mignonne. Two days later, on April 6, one of that same group (Marta, along with a woman named Jan) had a related dream, part of a series of three, in which Neville taught the group an entirely new language. He shared both letters in his lecture on the real meaning of Good Friday and Easter, delivered April 12, 1968.

Neville received a letter from a woman describing a vision in which he summoned a group of his students, told them 'I am to die. I must die,' vanished, and word came that he had died — and the group was ecstatically happy.
