Trust in God

Ask any religious person if he believes in God, and he will say yes. But if you ask him who God is, everyone you ask will give you a different answer. So when I ask you to trust in God, I want you to know who God really is, for if you trust in him, your world will change.373 ¶1

Speaking to God, Moses asked: “When I go to the people of Israel and tell them that the God of our fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob sent me, and they ask me your name, what shall I tell them?” Then God replied: “Say this, I AM has sent me to you. This is my name forever. Thus shall I be known throughout all generations.” Here we discover God’s name to be I AM, the same name you use when you identify yourself! Now I ask you, do you believe in that God?373 ¶2

The word translated “Lord” in the statement: “I am the Lord” is YOD HE VAU HE, which means “I AM”. So this statement could read, “I am the I AM.” It is impossible to say I am and speak of another; and your awareness – your I am – is he who declares: “I am the Lord, and my glory I will not give to another.”373 ¶3

During your lifetime, I am sure there have been those you thought greater than yourself. I remember when General Eisenhower returned from his successful campaign. There was a big parade for him, and thousands of people bowed before him, giving him their glory by worshiping a false image. There is no other God, other than he who is housed within you. When you say, “I am” you are speaking God’s name, the God I ask you to trust – for there is no other. We are told to “Make no graven image unto me.” If you make an image out of marble or metal in the shape of another and worship it, you have created a false God.373 ¶4

A friend recently shared a wonderful experience with me. It seems a neighbour was forever dropping in on her, constantly telling horrible stories about her friends. She tried to tell the woman how to change things by using her imagination, but she would not listen. And although she imagined her as a fine, positive, happy person, she remained in her negative state. Realising the lady was a character my friend had to overcome, she began to change her thoughts.373 ¶5

In her imagination she told the neighbour that she loved her. This she persisted in doing, until one day she realised she really did. That night she had this dream. She found herself sitting in the shade of a beautiful tree. A figure approached, looking like a goddess, in a long white gown with loose sleeves and a silver belt. Suddenly she realised it was her friend, who came to say goodbye. They embraced and she felt a surge of love for that woman like she had never known for anyone before.373 ¶6

The next day this lady came to her door and said: “I gave my notice this morning and have come to say goodbye.” Then my friend added this thought: “If I could fall as much in love with the being within me as I did with this lady, I would be completely transformed – which in turn, would produce great changes in my outer world of effects, for now I know my friend’s transformation took place within me.”373 ¶7

Scripture tells us to love God because he first loved us, and that we should imitate him as a dear child. How is this done? By falling in love! Whether your desire be for wealth, fame, health, or marriage, you must fall in love with the state. My friend fell in love, and so transformed the lady she will never again encounter that state. God uses man to express love and hate, for man is the agent to express the qualities of I AM. There is no other God! You will find other characteristics of God, but those who know his name put their trust in I AM!373 ¶8

Put your trust in God’s name. Knowing what you want, believe that your assumption will make it a fact. Believe that you need no one on the outside to aid you, for all things are possible to God. Assume things are as you want them to be, for an assumption, persisted in will harden into fact!373 ¶9

Another lady found herself, in dream, with her sister, mother, brother-in-law, and a man she knew to be her first husband. Having agreed to cross the desert on foot and return, they began their journey as the sun blistered her body and the sand burned her feet. At one point she fell, struck her head on a rock, and knew excruciating pain. But at the journey’s end she found her Father. Then she returned to the group and they began their journey home. Again they encounter everything they had experienced before, but this time she fell madly in love with her first husband. As her love for him grew he became younger and younger, and by the time they returned he was a youth. She was told that the entire trip took four days – two days to go and two days to return. As she contemplated this period of time, she saw her husband stretched out on the top of a hill. Filled with a great love for him, she was about to throw herself upon his body when she awoke.373 ¶10

This experience is one hundred per cent scripture. In Genesis it is said that: “As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and lo a dread and great darkness fell upon him. Then the Lord said to Abram, ‘Know of a surety that your descendants will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs. They will be slaves there and oppressed for four hundred years. Afterwards, they shall come out with great possessions.’”373 ¶11

In Biblical language the number is important, not years or days. Every letter of the Hebrew tongue has a numerical and a symbolical value. Four-hundred has the numerical value of the last letter, taf, whose symbol is a cross – the cross of Man. In her vision it took two days to enter and two to return, making a total of four. The number two is opposition, division. The journey was that of oppression, fear, and hardship; but in the end she found her first love, who guided and helped her return.373 ¶12

Isaiah tells you: “Your Maker is your husband; the Lord of hosts is his name. He has called you like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, and will love you with everlasting love.” In spite of everything you do, have done, or will do, God will forgive you – for you are his emanation, his wife till the sleep of death is past. Regardless of the garment you wear, be it male or female, you are God’s wife in this world. In symbolism however, God’s wife appears in the form of a female.373 ¶13

Blake tells us that He is God only, and She is God in you. As you journey you are God’s emanation. But when the journey comes to its end you will know only God as your Maker, your husband, for you will inherit God. You will no longer be two, but you will become one being as you inherit yourself!373 ¶14

Remember: you have only one lover, only one husband. He is your own wonderful Human Imagination, called God. It is he who gives you everything you fall in love with. But if you pray to a little statue made by human hands you are serving a false God.373 ¶15

One day you will know that this world, which seems so real, is a dream, that you were never a rich, poor, white, or black man, as these were only states you dreamed when you entered the state called Abram to become Abraham, the father of multitudes. God revealed himself to Abraham as El Shaddai, God Almighty, then to Moses as I AM. God’s final revelation will come to you when God’s only begotten son, David, calls you Father.373 ¶16

It is said that David died and his sepulcher is within us to this day. It is within you, God’s sepulcher, that David will rise. Appealing to the Lord to awake, David cries: “Rouse thyself, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Awake! Do not cast us off forever.” For only as the Lord awakes can David rise from the sepulcher and find his Father. Having been promised that his soul would not be left in hell, David awakes; and as he calls you Father, your soul is released from hell.373 ¶17

Asleep to your true identity, you are dreaming the horrors of life for a divine purpose. “Only through many tribulations will you enter the kingdom of heaven.” Do not be concerned with the horrors of the world; simply remember that all is ordered and correct. Instead, fall in love with the I AM within you and change your world. God made it as it is now and he can change it, for your husband is a creator. Everything in your world can be traced back to your own wonderful human imagination, who is God.373 ¶18

“Man is all imagination, and God is Man. He exists in us and we in him. The eternal body of Man is the imagination and that is God Himself.” Fall in love with the state you now desire to occupy and to the degree that you are self-persuaded, you will enter it. Don’t believe in anyone outside of your own wonderful human imagination!373 ¶19

Every coin is inscribed with the statement: “In God we trust” yet I wonder how many trust in God – and not the coin! If you really believe in God, you can be penniless, yet walk in the assumption of wealth and be wealthy. Learn to trust your own wonderful human imagination, for he is the only God. Do that and you will never go wrong! Now let us go into the silence.373 ¶20

The Wearer of the Mask

[...]the eternal body of man is all Imagination, and that is called in scripture, Jesus Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God. So if I find myself in this place where I am miserable and I feel myself helpless, it is not a condemnation of some deity outside of myself. I either knowingly or unknowingly fell into that state, for all things exist in God. Every conceivable situation that you could ever think of now exists as fact in God, but it is not made visible in our world until someone occupies it. We are the operant power of God. There isn’t a thing in this world that doesn’t need a man as an agent to express it. We speak of hate, we speak of love, we speak of all these things, well, some man expresses it, and then we write about the man. He was simply in a state. He either entered it knowingly, unknowingly, but if he remains in it then he externalizes that state.372 ¶1

So, everyone in this world is free to choose. And so, I am imagining myself into my present state. If I don’t like it, I must imagine myself out of it into the state that I like.372 ¶2

For everyone in the beginning, believe it or not, we were all together. As we’re told in scripture, “He chose us in himself before the foundation of the world.” All form God. Now, here we have a preconceived plan. And then, we who conceived it collectively form one, one wonderful, glorious being. And then, together we spoke as one, and we said, “It is time for the play to begin.” And you and I, individually, answered, “I am ready” and then we started. We conceived the play—every conceivable horrible thing in the world and every conceivable lovely thing in the world, every problem, every solution. You can’t conceive of something that was not in that original conception, that preconceived plan. And then, it is time to start. You and I, having conceived it ourselves, we said, “I’m ready.” When we said “I am,” that’s God. It’s ready to take upon itself everything that it had conceived, and then it starts off into this fabulous world of ours.372 ¶3

So now, no matter what you are doing, what you are experiencing, you are not doing it…you are not condemned by some being outside of yourself. You either wittingly or unwittingly fell into it, good, bad or indifferent.372 ¶4

Now, how do we move? Here we are told in the very beginning of Genesis, it’s the second verse, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” We are told now that when he first speaks to Joshua, which is the Hebraic name for Jesus, in the first chapter of Joshua, that “Wherever the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you.” Now, you be the chooser of where you will allow the sole of your foot to tread. Wherever it treads I’ve given it to you, because the whole is yours. And he speaks now to Jesus—well, forget Jesus as some historical creature 2,000 years ago—I am speaking to Jesus when I speak to you. “Christ in you is the hope of glory.” “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” I am speaking to your own wonderful human Imagination.372 ¶5

So when I say that God became man that man may become God, I mean the same as if I said Imagination became man that man may become all Imagination. It’s the same thing. But, man hasn’t the same association. He doesn’t use the word Imagination as he uses the word God. When he uses the word God, it’s something remote, something out of his mind altogether, some being that created it all apart from him. If I use “Imagination” you will know more of what I’m talking about. So, Imagination became man that man may become all Imagination. And everything in this world, the whole vast world is all Imagination.372 ¶6

And so, when our realists think that they are nearer to the truth, they don’t realize they are depicting nothing more than their own Imagination. So they laugh at you and me when we call ourselves the mystically inclined. May I tell you, let them be just as they are—don’t encourage them but leave them just as they are—and you go blindly on simply imagining that you are the being that you want to be, and you will become it. You have imagined yourself into what you are, and you must imagine yourself into what you want to be. No outside deity did it for you. You were not under compulsion to do it. You fell into misery or you fell into this, because you didn’t know you are God; that you are the being who conceived it in the beginning, and then fell deliberately. No one took it from you; you fell deliberately into these states and started the journey.372 ¶7

So I say, you can prove it right now. You can start tonight. Not by being a holy person…I’m not speaking of being any holy person, as the world calls it. For the story of Jesus is so unlike its original, when you read what the so-called wise men speak about it, all the churches, all these so-called isms. It’s so far removed from the original story. It is just as far removed as Dante’s Inferno is from the Sermon on the Mount, yet that is based upon scripture. That strange, peculiar concept into which he fell…so he had the capacity to write and what beautiful, beautiful words he could string together, but what state into which he fell! Yet, he is writing, supposedly, scripture. And that’s what the churches follow. So, it is so completely different from the real true story of Jesus.372 ¶8

Jesus is every being in this world. There’s only Jesus. The word means “Jehovah saves.” There’s only one savior. The one who fell is the one who saves himself. No one else saves you; you are saved by your own being. You become aware, you begin to remember, and remembering, you turn around, and simply come out of the very play into which you have sent yourself. All in the end are united and we form into the single being that fell. One being containing all fell, and in the end all are gathered, not one will be lost, and all are re-gathered into the one being that is the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s the story.372 ¶9

Now, I received this week some beautiful letters, perfectly wonderful letters. Here is one. The lady said, “I heard you ten years ago, but then I didn’t write you because, first of all, you were not asking for letters and, secondly, I was not in the habit of writing. But I did make a record of what happened soon after I heard you. I found myself in what the world would call dream, but it was more than dream, I call it vision. I was at the top of the highest mountain”—she didn’t use the word world, she said the universe—“and some force held me looking toward the horizon, this fantastic vastness without a shore. I knew below me there were clouds, strange clouds, but I couldn’t look down from this enormous height. I was held to look at the distance. Then to my right a little flicker, a spark, appeared. Then, to my left, the vastness [...] away, another little spark there. Then another spark there. And suddenly I felt that this cloud made an imperceptible forward motion, a slight…I knew it was moving forward. Then these lights appeared. And then suddenly, through the clouds came a burst of light, white light that filled infinity. As it filled it, the clouds began to move, not only forward but in all directions. They took on motion in every direction.372 ¶10

“And standing there, I knew—how I knew I couldn’t tell you—but I pointed and I said, ‘That’s Paul.’ Then, the light diffused filling all. And then another burst of light came, this time in multiple color. I can’t explain it but the light was living, the color was alive, the whole thing was alive. Living color, but every color conceivable, was all bursting through. I knew as I did prior to this who it was and I said, ‘That is Neville.’ Then came a shower of golden needles penetrating my brain. It was almost unbearable as it penetrated my brain. And then, I woke from it all and wrote it down.372 ¶11

Over the years I would ponder on this. I would take it out from my drawer and think about it, pondering, but I’d get no response to the meaning of it. My friends Natalie and Lucy would discuss it with me, but we couldn’t bring any light to bear upon the meaning of it until last Monday night when you spoke. And then I saw, of a world beyond dream where a being of light shoots his fiery arrows into the brain of those that he’s called.”372 ¶12

It’s the same story, over and over and over. There’s only one Jesus Christ, there’s only one Lord, only one God and Father of us all; and we are that God and Father of it all. We conceived it and we are playing it, and each in his own wonderful good time will play it, play the part. In the end it’s all God. So hate no one, because all agreed in the beginning and we’re under masks while we play [...]. Because we are completely masked, we don’t recognize ourselves who agreed in the beginning when this whole play was conceived and predicted. Not in a fatalistic sense, for I fell into a state or that state…not by some being outside of myself. That was arranged in the beginning, that I could fall into any state and get out of any state and keep going. But I had to keep going; I must complete the play, I must finish the play. But when I get to the end of the road, I turn around and come back. I go from here to the end, and then I turn around and return. And then return to whom? Return to the very being that I was in the beginning.372 ¶13

Now a gentleman writes me that he had this unusual dream which puzzled him. He said, “You asked for the unusual. Well, I had this experience. Here I saw this man about twenty-six years old, golden curls on his head, golden hair, all curly hair. But he seemed to be in this cylinder and seemed to be sunk into at least the floor, or the earth, because he only came up to the waist of two men who were next to him. They were working on what I thought to be his hair. I thought they were giving him a haircut. They seemed to be working on the top of his head, towards the back of his skull. Then I realized as I looked at him that they were doing more than that. They were not only taking off the hair they were going down into the skull. I looked at the man and the man simply raised his hand and put it on his skull and felt that emptiness as he pushed his hand down into his own skull. Well, I was intrigued. It was unbelievable what I’m seeing, and so I went around to look at him. I got above him and here the skull, this enormous vacant area, and I thought, ‘Well, they might have removed the brain.’ But they hadn’t. The whole thing seemed to be plastic…made of clay or some plastic.372 ¶14

So I got in the front of the man. When I got in the front of the man, by then, as it happens in vision, it switched from an interior to exterior and it’s a desert. His chin is resting on the sand itself. I looked at him. It’s the kind of a mask that you see in Africa or in Hawaii where the native wears it. You could never see the wearer; you could only see the mask that the wearer is wearing. I couldn’t see who wore it; I could only see a mask, it was just a mask.”372 ¶15

Well, that is the world. You don’t know who you’re looking at. You’re looking at the most intimate being in the world when you look at anyone in this world, one you knew in the beginning, and one that you will know forever. We all put on masks and we’re all playing the play. Playing anything, playing the weak man, the strong man, the rich man, the poor man, and we play it all by Imagination. For, it was in the beginning conceived by Imagination, and then Imagination is playing it all. For you are all Imagination and God is all Imagination, that’s all that it is. This whole vast universe is nothing more than Imagination ceaselessly creating, that’s what it is.372 ¶16

So you and I are moving from state to state to state, either deliberately knowing what we are doing, or falling into it by headlines, by the books we read, by all the things that confront us. And so, tonight they simply hear anything on TV or radio, accept it—they know none of the facts—and fall right into it. It makes you buy things you do not need, makes you fill your house with all kinds of trivia that you have not the room for it, all because Imagination is operating. Someone conceives a plot, a plan, to get you to empty your pockets and buy their trivia. You’ll do it, someone will, because we are sound asleep in our journey until we turn around and start home, and then we begin to become more and more awake, more and more awake.372 ¶17

Nothing about Jesus is known by those who think they are so very wise in this world. Only the seers, the mystics know who he is, for they have seen the flickering [...] light that he claimed that he is. They’ve seen the light that he claimed that he is. They knew without seeing the face, the form, who it was. No loss of identity but the same being, the same light. There aren’t numbers of lights, just one vast infinite light. So, if one takes on all white and one all color and one something else, it’s still the same wonderful infinite light. And there is only Jesus Christ; there is nothing but Jesus Christ. There’s only God, playing all the parts in the world. So in the end, you will know that he is love, he is light, he is spirit. You’ll know it from your own personal experience.372 ¶18

So if I stand here tonight and standing here seeing all the facts of life, here they are, and then I shut it out mentally, who in the world looking at me, physically, would know where I am dwelling in Imagination? So if I dwell in Imagination where I would like to be, dwelling elsewhere other than here, and then I see what I would see were I there, and then I open my eyes and I’m still here, you’d wonder “What did he do?” Well, I moved within my own being, didn’t I? Everything here that comes into being comes into being because of a movement within God. In the beginning God moved and the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters. And wherever I go and stand, there it has been given to me. It was given to me in the beginning when the whole thing was conceived by us.372 ¶19

And so, one day, having done it, having gone through it, and beginning to awaken, then the first one that came out stands there as the anchor. And everyone comes through the same, re-forming the same being. So when you and I awaken, we are drawn by our fiery brooding upon this wonderful mystery to the risen Christ, who is formed out of all. As we come into the risen Christ we fuse, and the mortal reassumes immortality. So we fell into the mortal state where we have the experience of death, and we go through it; and then suddenly we return, all gathered into the one being. So in the beginning, one came up first. Certainly one comes up first. But a second, a third, and the billions join into that one body, and all form the one body, without loss of identity. Just as she could, without seeing a face, without seeing a form other than light, know who it was. And she could from the highest mountain, she said, in the universe, “I knew this was Paul. I knew this is Neville.” But she didn’t see a face, she didn’t see a form, but she knew intuitively who it was that burst through the clouds and illuminated all that was there.372 ¶20

So I tell you that you are the very being spoken of in scripture as the Lord Jesus Christ. You are the being spoken of as the Lord Jehovah, who conceived the play. You and I did nothing that was wrong to warrant this. We deliberately did it. It was an adventure…and without an adventure what is life? I mean, just to have someone leave me a million dollars so I can sit down and just have my help and be cushioned for the few little, tiny years that I flicker here? Is that living? But, no, life must be an adventure. I must leave all behind; he empties himself of all that he is, and takes upon himself the form of a slave. This body is the form of a slave, this is the mask. And then he wears it…and no one knows who the wearer of mask is. But you can’t meet anyone in this world that you have not known in eternity, but you don’t know him when you see the mask.372 ¶21

I looked at Benny when Benny came home a week ago. I looked at him on that chair of mine and nothing but love came out of him, but nothing. I couldn’t see his face. As you know, his skin is as dark as you can find, and I’m looking at that face and nothing but love is coming out of it, a being that I’ve known in eternity, knew him in the beginning; for we were all in the beginning the Elohim. The Elohim…it’s a plural…it’s a compound unity, one made up of others. And here he is as dark as I’ve ever seen a man. I am not as light as you can see a man. But here we are and you could think that we came out of different beings, but we didn’t. We are only putting on masks. We’re wearing masks. But he has turned around and so near the end, wearing a dark, dark mask when the whole thing is taken off. And who are we? The light of the world, infinite love, and yet put it into one form it is man. And when you see man, that is actually the gathered togetherness of all, it is infinite love. I will know you by the light; you will know me by the light. But when we know each other gathered as one, it’s love, and it’s man, the human form divine, and everyone is gathered into it and not one is lost.372 ¶22

For we agreed in the beginning, we agreed to enter this in concert and we did. Then we went our seeming separate ways, each falling into different states, and blaming the other; and discords came into our world. That’s alright…we’ll resolve it. All will return and all the discords will be resolved into dissonance, and finally into the most glorious harmony in the world. And then we have expanded beyond whatever we were prior to this play [...]. The whole thing is a play and the Elohim plays it. The Elohim is God—“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”—that word is Elohim, a plural word, a compound unity, one made up of others. So all are playing this glorious play.372 ¶23

Now, you can put me to the test, and tonight just learn how to move…just learn how to move. I teach it every night when I move beyond the world of dream. I do every night. But here, we can take [...], this small crowd. And so I stand here, I put myself into an intimate brother…one who in the world is called a brother, for he’s my brother Victor. When he had nothing, but nothing, the family had nothing, I mean broke, living on a little borrowed money, trying to open and run a small little shop on a side street on the…well, a side street in Barbados is really a side street. They only had one main street. And so here on the little side street, on borrowed capital, and he stands before one of the biggest buildings on the main street and he looks and he sees what, if it were true, would imply that our family owned it. In his Imagination he sees not F. N. Roach & Co., which was there, he sees J. N. Goddard & Sons. Every day on the way to the little shop on the side street he sees it and feels a thrill, until finally it was fixed in his mind’s eye.372 ¶24

In that interval of two years of doing it, it failed. You say that’s wrong? Nothing is wrong in God’s kingdom. We ate of the tree of good and evil and failed right and wrong. So he sees it in his mind’s eye. The day of the sale of that building, a man who never came home for a cup of tea, came in and asked him if he would buy the building, knowing he had no money. When my brother said to him, “With what would I buy it?” he said, “Well, I have money.” It’s only [...], well, having nothing in the bank. And so, if you would like to buy it, I’ll buy it for you. I have my lawyer, because they know I have money, and so if I start bidding they’ll bid me up. But if I get my lawyer, he represents other business people and they won’t know who he’s bidding for.” And so, he got his lawyer to bid. Only asked my brother to sign a little note, “If I buy it, you will accept it, and then pay me six percent of the money over a period of ten years, reducing the principle every year; so at the end of ten years the principle will be paid back and you will have paid six percent on principle that is still due over the period of ten years.” My brother agreed to it; that day we owned the building. And then the sign went up “J. N. Goddard & Sons”.372 ¶25

Well now, what did it? Was it not all Imagination? He didn’t have a nickel. He couldn’t put up as collateral a pair of rabbits. He had nothing. Whatever he had in the little store on the side, he owed someone money because they put in that little bunch of groceries that we had. Yet he got this building. And then, with more borrowed capital, put it in and started. That’s now back in 1922, here it’s ’67. And from that little beginning…I don’t know what the family owns, I only know that I own almost ten percent of it, but I do not know what it’s worth. But I don’t think you could buy them out for 25,000,000, I don’t think you could, and I hold ten percent of the stock. But I haven’t the slightest idea what it’s worth…and I don’t care. All I want to know is to tell—my wife, and my daughter, and you, and all that I’m drawing into my world—how it operates.372 ¶26

So take it all tonight and someone will rebuild it again. If you take everything and you know this principle, can’t you rebuild it? If it happens this way in the beginning, well, does it always happen this way? Certainly, this is how it works: I imagine myself into what I am. If I like it, well, enjoy it; the day I tire of it, well then, imagine myself into what I want to be. That’s the story. So you become what you imagined yourself to be, good, bad or indifferent. There is no deity outside of yourself who actually swore you into this place and condemned you into what you are doing. You did it either wittingly or unwittingly, for God and your own wonderful human Imagination are one. So when it is said in scripture, “I and my Father are one,” he’s only speaking of your own wonderful human Imagination.372 ¶27

So here, I have been sent to clarify and take off the barnacles on the story, called the story of Jesus Christ. Alright, a small beginning, what does it matter? You will outlive me and you will tell the story, and tell it, and bring it back to something near its original form. For, it’s not now as it’s interpreted by the world, anything near.372 ¶28

In fact, in this morning’s paper I read Buckley—I read him just because of his use of words; he’s quite an interesting fellow—and he was speaking of the bishop of some part of England who spoke at the cathedral of Canterbury. He said, “I don’t believe the good bishop would recognize a Christian if he met him. But to be honest and to be kind to him, I don’t think he would recognize Christianity if he read it.” And may I tell you, what he said prior to that I would agree with Buckley. I don’t always agree with anyone…sometimes and sometimes not…with everyone that I know, we agree some times and we disagree others. But today I certainly would agree with what he quoted the bishop having said, “I don’t think he would recognize a Christian if he saw one.” Well, that is not only true of that bishop, but that’s true of all the priests that I’ve met, whether they call themselves cardinals or popes, so far removed from this wonderful glorious story of Jesus: How God became you…alright, became us.372 ¶29

He saw the mask, and the mask was the kind of a mask that you see in Hawaii, you see in Africa. Haven’t you seen that mask? You can’t tell who wears it. Well, we have our little masks too, but we have little false things. And they all want to be identified…they don’t need that kind of mask. When we go to a palatial party in the Western world and we have a little false thing over our eyes, hoping that the one we really want to dance with really recognizes us, we’re not disguised at all. But they don’t know that they are disguised in the very thing that they wear, because no one knows who they are. They are part of the Elohim, who in the beginning conceived the play, who is playing it, and in the end when all the masks are taken off. And it’s taken off only in the resurrection.372 ¶30

So I will say to my friend who wrote about this mask that he saw and the empty skull made of plastic, the day will come that with one of us whose mask is already taken off we will ascend together. And you will point out that skull and say of it I once dwelt there—you will, in this skull that was once your dwelling place and you take off the mask—that you were never the thing that you wore, never. But in eternity we’ll all know each other and all will be enhanced, expanded beyond what we were by reason of the journey that we made.372 ¶31

Now tonight, you try this and you test it, how to move. This is simple. I told you the story of my brother. Now take a simple little thing, ask yourself simply, what do I want? Now look at the world as you now see it. If you had what you want, would you see it as you now see it? I doubt it. There would be a difference, some little change. The slightest change, I don’t care what it is, but there would be a change. It need not be a change from where you now live, but there would be a change. You would see the world differently and, naturally, your closest circle would see you differently. Well, begin to let them see you differently and you see your world differently, all in Imagination. This is a movement in God, for we are the operant power moving in our own being, for we are God. And so, we move. As I move from where I am to where I would like to be, I can detect that motion only by a change of position relative to another object. For motion cannot be detected save by a change of position relative to another object. To speak of the motion of a thing in itself without some frame of reference against which it moves is nonsense, you can’t do it.372 ¶32

And so, I stand here. Well, take it now physically. If I were elsewhere thinking of this club, I wouldn’t see myself on the platform. I would see it as I now see it, but from another point. That vision would prove that I am not here.372 ¶33

Now, take it in another light. If I were now a man, take a person who would like, say, $30,000 a year income, and his income now is less than ten, alright, what would it be like if I had 30,000 a year? My present circle of friends, how would they see me? Would they know it? Would they discuss it…would they speak of me as the one that they knew when he only made, and they name it, say, eight, nine or ten thousand? Would they now speak of the change in his life? Well now, eavesdrop and listen in on that. So you hear your friends discuss you as one whose income is 30,000 a year. Well now, that’s a motion in being, that movement produces the results. For, everything in this world is nothing more than the result of a movement in God, and a movement in God is a motion in your wonderful human Imagination. And the slightest imaginal act, that is a change. I don’t mean just the act…I can imagine something that I don’t believe. If I imagine something that is something believed, that is a change that sends a thrill through divine being. For that’s creation; I’m creating something. I’m actually entering another state, and making that state alive and real in my world.372 ¶34

So tonight, you try it. It costs you nothing, doesn’t cost you a nickel to try it. But I’ll tell you the risks that teachers run when they are sent. For when you stand in the presence of the one being who is drawing all towards itself, you run this risk. You are sent into the world to tell them of the most fantastic story in the world, and if they do not listen well or do not apply what you tell them and become disillusioned, they hate the one who invited them to dream. So I’m only sent to invite you to dream; for the world is a dream. I’m inviting you to dream, but to dream consciously, deliberately. And if your hope is delayed and you think it isn’t true, this whole thing is crazy, insane. You invariably will turn all the fires of your being against the one who invited you to dream. And so they said he was always rejected. Whenever he comes he’s rejected. Well, what does he do? He invites man to dream. For he tells man, “Whatever you desire, believe that you have received it, and you will.” Well now, a man who makes that bold assertion and gets the compliments of those whose ear he reaches, and they try it, but they do not know quite how to do it, and then after awhile they’re disillusioned, they’re disappointed, and then they become so embittered, they invariably hate the one who invited them to dream. So that’s the risk every teacher who was sent must run.372 ¶35

So, I tell you it’s true, anyway. And if one fails in the dream so that they cannot bring it into being, I will say to myself, “Well then, how often must I tell them? Seventy times seven”…until they really understand it. Not multiplying seventy by seven, but until they understand it. So I must repeat it and repeat it and repeat it. And those who hear me will carry it forward and they will tell it. And in the end they’re all gathered back into the one being who conceived it. But we were that being and who plunged into the wonderful play. So when it was said to us in the beginning “It is time for the play to start,” not one of us failed to respond in the first-person-present “I am ready.”372 ¶36

Now let us go into the Silence. * * *372 ¶37

[...] about twenty pages long. I’ll condense it for you, but, really it’s one of the most marvelous things imaginable. Do you know what the story of Exodus is? And so, I’ll use that letter on Monday…this fantastic experience of this lady. So on Monday, it will be “Trust in God.” Fantastic [...], the most incredible thing ever told man is true. And listen to…as I will try to bring it down because there are twenty pages. She doesn’t write in big script, small hand; and I think when I say twenty pages I am being very, very conservative.372 ¶38

But until the experiences I could not have conceived infinite love, until love embraced me, infinite love. The first forms the anchor and all. And it increases. You can’t believe it could increase, but it must as each comes into it. And here, the mortal has finished the [...] job. He was an immortal in the beginning, but he took on mortality; and then, in the end, the mortal reassumes immortality when this one being embraces him.372 ¶39

You didn’t begin here as a little germ. Oh, let people say what they will, about how you came out of a rock, turned a rock over, and some little thing came out of it; and then, all of sudden you began to move and you moved something else. The tadpole, the tadpole begins this. Oh, let them have all the fun they want with that. You didn’t begin that way at all. You began in the beginning as God. You are the Elohim. And you played all these parts, allowing all these beliefs. Let them get all their little medals. They get a present from this government, $50,000, for discovering that he came out of a tadpole. [...] $50,000. Then [...] what he really wanted was the $50,000. And so, man in his wonderful peculiar state believes that was true. We haven’t the slightest, not an iota of evidence to support the belief in evolution.372 ¶40

I saw a picture tonight on TV, this wonderful man and his child. Yes, he has long hair, so let him have his long hair, what does it matter? The boy has long hair, but the father also has it; he has a beard. A very cultured gentleman, nice looking man and his wife, and he said, “I am here…”—[...] I don’t know, but I mean, to hear him speak, he undoubtedly is a very cultured gentleman. And he said, “Why must we here be always for or against, pro or con? Can’t we allow a certain freedom in the world? We either are against this or for this, and there is no other shading, black or white. Can’t we have some shading in the world?” So they sent this boy up, fourteen years old, for some ponytail. Until he cuts his hair he can’t go back to school. Well of all the nonsense in the world. I mean, he hasn’t disturbed the class. He hasn’t come in and done things to the people.372 ¶41

And so, tomorrow maybe we’ll all be wearing long hair. And we’ll wonder what happened to that judge that disallowed it. Just like…I presume today if you saw Mr. Hoover, a perfectly wonderful gentleman, with his tall collar up to here, choking him to death, you would send him to jail too. “Get that collar off. You can’t come into this meeting with a collar like that.” Well, I mean, all this nonsense. In England they still wear these long silly things on their heads in court. The judge comes in with this long white something on his head, you know what it is. But that is part of his world. Well, allow others to be what they want to be. I mean if you don’t interfere with my freedom, then be what you want to be. You can come in here in the nude if you don’t interfere with someone else. But with their prejudice, so what! If you’re going to interrupt peoples’ freedom, that’s a different thing altogether.372 ¶42

The Secret of Prayer

The secret of scriptural prayer, as told in the form of a parable, is to pray and never lose heart. One such parable tells of a widow who kept coming to a judge, asking for vindication. At first he did not respond, then he said to himself: “Although I neither fear God, nor regard man, yet I will exonerate her, because by her much coming, she wearies me.” Parables, like dreams, contain a single jet of truth. This parable urges persistence in mastering the art of prayer. Once you have mastered it, you will live in the state of thanksgiving, and all through the day you will say over and over again to yourself: “Thank you, Father.”370 ¶1

A most effective prayer is found in the 11th chapter of the Book of John, as: “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me, for thou always hears me.” In this chapter, the story is told of someone who has died and has seemingly gone from this world. But the truth is that no one is dead to you, when you know how to pray. You may no longer touch, see, or hear those you love with your mortal senses; but if you know how to give thanks, you can move from your body of darkness into the world of light and encounter your loved ones there. Therefore, he who would learn how to pray will discover the great secret of a full and happy life.370 ¶2

In the 33rd chapter of the Book of Genesis, Jerusalem is called “Shechem.” It is said that “Jacob came safely into the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan. There he erected an altar and called it El Elohey Israel,” which means “the God of Israel.” Orienting himself toward Shechem (the true direction), Jacob remained in El Elohey Israel, which means “safe in mind, body, or estate”. We are told that Daniel oriented himself at an open window, where he looked toward Jerusalem. And those in the Mohammedan world pray looking towards what they call Mecca. But because Christianity takes place within, scripture is speaking of the Jerusalem within, and not on the outside at all. When you pray you do not prostrate yourself on the ground and look towards some eastern point in space, but adjust yourself mentally into your fulfilled desire.370 ¶3

Although this technique is simple, it takes practice to become its master. Your true direction is to the knowledge of what you want. Knowing your desire, point yourself directly in front of it by thinking from its fulfillment. Silence all thought and allow the doors of your mind to open. Then enter your desire. Stay with your imagination as your companion. Start by thinking of your imagination as something other than yourself, and eventually you will know you are what you formerly called your imagination. It is possible to amputate a hand, leg, or various parts of the body – but imagination cannot be amputated, for it is your eternal Self!370 ¶4

Let me show you what I mean. While standing here in Los Angeles, I may desire to be elsewhere. Time and finances may not allow it, but in my imagination I can assume I am already there. Now, by a mere act of assumption on my part, God departs this body. If I assume I am in New York City, anyone I think of in Los Angeles must be three thousand miles away. No longer can I think of them as just down the street or in the hills west of me. That is my test.370 ¶5

The word “prayer” means “motion towards, accession to, act or in the vicinity of”. Orienting myself towards New York City, I have made a motion, an accession to. As I act in the vicinity of, I see my friends relative to New York City. Having done this, let me have full confidence in my imagination, knowing he is the being who made the motion. Blake’s words are true: “Man is all Imagination, and God is Man and exists in us and we in Him. Man’s Immortal Body is the Imagination, and that is God Himself.”370 ¶6

You can not only move in space but also in time and fulfill your every desire. Prayer does not have to be confined to what a person calls self. You can pray for another by feeling they now have what they formerly wanted, for feeling is a movement. The first creative act recorded in scripture is motion: “God moved upon the face of the water.” A friend recently had a fantastic vision, during which he asked: “Did I learn anything?” and I answered: “Yes. You learned how to move.” Then everything was transformed, as conflict deceased, a hovel became a castle, the battlefield a sea of ripened wheat, and he was escorted into his eternal home.370 ¶7

Prayer is motion. It is learning how to move toward a change in your bank balance, your marital status, or social world. Learn to master the art of motion; for after you move, change begins to rise up out of the deep.370 ¶8

The technique of prayer is mastering your inner motion. If you are seeing things you would like to change, move in your imagination to the position you would occupy after the change took place. Everything and everyone in your world is yourself pushed out. Any request from another – heard by you – should not be ignored; for it is coming from yourself!370 ¶9

You came down from a world of light to confine yourself to this body of darkness. Now a spark from an infinite world of light, one day you will remember that world and awaken, but in the meantime you must learn to exercise the power of your mind. Having remembered the infinite world of light, I now know that everything is myself, as all things are contained within me.370 ¶10

Prayer is psychological movement. It is the art of moving from a problem to its solution. When a friend calls, telling of a problem, we hang up, and I move from the problem state to its solution by hearing the same lady tell me the problem is now solved. A friend recently shared this dream with me: We were in a garden and he told me all of his desires, when I said: “Don’t desire them, live them!” This is true. Desire is thinking of! Living is thinking from! Don’t go through life desiring. Live your desire. Think it is already fulfilled. Believe it is true; for an assumption, though false, if persisted in will harden into fact.370 ¶11

When you are learning the art of prayer, persistence is necessary, as told us in the story of the man who – coming at night – said: “Friend, lend me three loaves of bread.” Although his friend replied: “It is late, the door is closed, my children are in bed, and I cannot come down and serve you,” because of the man’s importunity, his friend gave him what he wanted. The word importunity means brazen impudence. The man repeated and repeated his request, unwilling to take no for an answer. The same is true in the story of the widow. These are all parables told to illustrate prayer.370 ¶12

The Lord’s Prayer teaches the oneness of us all. It begins: “Our Father.” If God is our Father, are we not one? Regardless of our race or colour of skin, if we have a common Father, we must have a common brotherhood. Eventually we are all going to know we are the Father; but in the meanwhile, persistence is the key to a change in life – more income, greater recognition, or whatever the desire may be. If your desire is not fulfilled today, tomorrow, next week or next month – persist, for persistency will pay off. All of your prayers will be answered if you will not give up.370 ¶13

My old friend, Abdullah, gave me this exercise. Every day I would sit in my living room where I could not see the telephone in the hall. With my eyes closed, I would assume I was in the chair by the phone. Then I would feel myself back in the living room. This I did over and over again, as I discovered the feeling of changing motion. This exercise was very helpful to me. If you try it, you will discover you become very loose with this exercise.370 ¶14

Practice the art of motion, and one day you will discover that by the very act of imagining, you are detached from your physical body and placed exactly where you are imagining yourself to be – so much so that you are seen by those who are there. Being all imagination, you must be wherever you are in imagination. Moving in your imagination, you are preparing a place for your desires to be fulfilled. Then you return, to walk through a series of events which will lead you up to where you have placed yourself.370 ¶15

In imagination, I can put myself where I desire to be. I move and view the world from there. Then I return here, confident that – in a way unknown to me – this being who can do all things and knows all things, will lead me physically across a bridge of incident up to where I have placed myself. You can move in imagination to any place and any time. Dwell there as though it were true, and you will have learned the secret of prayer.370 ¶16

My wife had a wonderful vision where she found herself in a grove of trees. Walking down a clear passage, she saw people gathered around an altar. A lady approached, carrying a book entitled, The Credence of Faith and the Forgiveness of Sins according to Judaism. Reaching the altar, she began to read it aloud. Shortly, another lady appeared, carrying a book entitled, The Credence of Faith and the Forgiveness of Sins according to Christianity. Approaching the altar, she too opened her book and began to read. As my wife listened, she realised it was infinitely more difficult to be a Christian than to be a Jew. She saw the whole thing was psychological, that nothing is done on the outside, because everything comes from within.370 ¶17

Browning began his wonderful poem, “Easter Day” with the words: “How hard it is to be a Christian.” And Chapman said: “Christianity has not been tried and proved wanting. It has been tried and found difficult and therefore given up.” Why? Because a Christian cannot pass the buck and blame another.370 ¶18

Christianity is built upon the foundation that all are one, that man is forever drawing conformation of what he is doing within himself, that your world bears witness to what you are doing to yourself. This is difficult to accept, yet it is Christianity. No man comes unto me, save my Father who sent me calls him. I and my Father are one, therefore I call all those who enter my life to reveal to me what I am doing in my imagination.370 ¶19

Learn how to pray. Master it and make your world conform to the ideal you want to experience. Stop thinking of, and start thinking from. To think from the wish fulfilled is to realise that which you will never experience while you are thinking of it. When you put yourself into the state of the wish fulfilled and think from it, you are praying, and in a way your reasoning mind does not know, your wish will become a fact in your world. You can be the man or woman you want to be, when you know how to pray. All things are possible to him who believes, therefore learn the art of believing and persuade yourself it is true. Then one day, occupying space and time in your imagination, you will be seen by another, who will call or send you a letter verifying your visit. This I know from experience.370 ¶20

The Bible is not just beautiful poetry; it is the inspired word of God. Written by poets, they have given enlarged meaning to normal words. When you put your body on the bed and assume you are elsewhere, are you not all imagination? In the act of imagining, you depart the dark caverns of this body and appear where you imagine yourself to be, because you are God – all imagination – and cannot die. You cannot go to eternal death in that which cannot die, and your immortal being is imagination!370 ¶21

You are the central being of scripture – the one called Jesus Christ, who is the Lord God Jehovah – who descended here for a purpose. While here, you must pay the price of living in the world of Caesar. You may criticise our politicians and protest any raise in taxes, but you will continue to be taxed. All you have to do is learn the art of prayer and make more money.370 ¶22

I am reminded of a story told of the late President Kennedy. It seems his father – who had, in one generation, made something like four-hundred million dollars – complained that his children were spending too much money. At a banquet, President Kennedy said: “The only solution to this problem is for father to make more money.” One day a friend told me that when she was a child, her father would say: “If you have but a dollar and it was necessary for you to spend it, do so as if it were a dry leaf, and you the owner of a boundless forest.” If one really knows how to pray, he could spend his dollar and then reproduce it again.370 ¶23

You see, this world is brought into being by man’s imagination, so it is very important to learn the secret of prayer. If you are still desiring, stop it right now! Ask yourself what it would be like, were your desire a reality. How would you feel if you were already the one you would like to be? The moment you catch that mood, you are thinking from it. And the great secret of prayer is thinking from, rather than thinking of.370 ¶24

Anchored here, you know where you live, your bank balance, job, creditors, friends, and loved ones – as you are thinking from this state. But you can move to another state and give it the same sense of reality, when you find and practice the great secret of prayer.370 ¶25

Take my message to heart and live by it. Practice the art of prayer daily, and then one day you will find the most effective prayer is: “Thank you, Father.” You will feel this being within you as your very self. You can speak of it as “thou” yet know it is “I.” You will then have a thou/I relationship, and say to yourself: “Thank you, Father”.370 ¶26

If I want something, I know the desire comes from the Father, because all thought springs from Him. Having given me the urge, I thank Him for fulfilling it. Then I walk by faith, in confidence that he who gave it to me through the medium of desire will clothe it in bodily form for me to encounter in the flesh.370 ¶27

Don’t get in the habit of judging and criticising, seeing only unlovely things. You have a life – live it nobly. It is so much easier to be noble, generous, loving, and kind, than to be judgmental. If others want to do so, let them. They are an aspect of yourself that you haven’t overcome yet, but don’t fall into that habit. Simply thank your heavenly Father over and over and over again, because in the end, when the curtain comes down on this wonderful drama, the supreme actor will rise from it all and you will know that you are He. Now let us go into the silence.370 ¶28

The Name of Judah

Tonight’s subject, beyond the mystery of “The Name of Judah”…possibly the most misunderstood character in the drama of salvation. We call the name Judas, but Judas and Judah are one and the same. In biblical opinion, biblical thought, a name, the name of a man reveals his character. Its full significance is apparent only in the light of its consummation, which when the name is manifested, truly manifested, is manifested in him who is the Word made flesh. And then the full significance of the name is understood.368 ¶1

So here we take the name Judah, Judas. It is spelt Yod He Vau Daleth He. The divine name is Yod He Vau He. You and I call it the Lord. We call it I AM. Well, here we have in Judas the name Yod He Vau, then we have Daleth and then we have He. So we do have the divine name, but inserted into the name is Daleth, whose significance is a door, the symbol is a door, the fourth letter of the alphabet. We hear the central figure of the New Testament declaring, “I am the door.” Here, we find it inserted into again the name, meaning I AM.368 ¶2

Now, he’s called, Judas is called, the betrayer. He betrayed the Lord Christ Jesus. The dictionary defines the word betrayer as “the revealer, one who makes known or one who delivers into the hands of the enemy.” This one is called the Word of God and the Word of God is called the truth, and his name is called the truth, the Word of God. “Thy Word is truth.” So the one who reveals the truth, betrays him. He betrays the truth. Those who do not understand or recoil from the truth are the enemies of the truth, although they know it not. So the whole vast world who would recoil from the truth are the enemies of the truth.368 ¶3

Now, here the name of God…who could reveal the secret of God but God himself? No one could reveal my secret but myself. I could let you into certain things in my world, take you into my confidence, but, really, my inmost thoughts, who knows my thoughts but myself? So if anyone could reveal God—well, Christ is the Lord—it would have to be God himself. He who dips with me into the dish…well, who can dip with me but myself?368 ¶4

Now this drama unfolds in us, may I tell you. The Word of God is planted in man, in every being in this world. And all the blows of life simply stir it, agitate it, it takes root and it begins to unfold. The drama as first told in the Old Testament and explained in the New in the life of Jesus Christ unfolds in the individual, with the individual cast in the central role. He is the star, the being that is being revealed to himself.368 ¶5

Now let me share with you an experience of mine that took place a year ago this month. I’ve told it here before, but not everyone was present. It took place on the 10th day of October, l966. I am in a room, say, thirty square…maybe not quite thirty square, but say thirty square. We’re all dressed in ancient robes. I am discussing the word of God, teaching the word of God. We’re all seated on the ground. Facing me were, say, twelve men, dressed as I was dressed in the ancient robes. At a certain point in the instruction one rose quickly and left the room. The very moment he left the room I knew he was going to tell the authorities what he had heard. As he left, a tall handsome man, beautifully robed in the most costly robe—a man, say, forty, six-feet-four in height, straight as an arrow, entered and walked hurriedly to the end of the room, turned at right angles, walked to the end of the room, turned at right angles and walked to the center, turned and came down the middle. I was seated facing these. But when he entered, at the very moment he entered we all rose and then stood perfectly still while he made his quick motion towards me. As he came towards me, he turned and faced me, and then he hammered into my shoulder a wooden peg. I could feel every blow as it went into my shoulder. Then he took a sharp instrument and with one circular motion he severed the sleeve of my robe, pulled it off, and discarded it. When he did that, he extended his arms as straight as a cross, he looked like a cross. And then he embraced me and he kissed me on the right side of my neck, and I kissed him on the right side of his neck. While we were embraced and the scene is fading, I’m looking at the bluest of blue, a light, light blue, which was the discarded sleeve, my robe. And that was it.368 ¶6

Now, let me turn to the 14th chapter, the gospel of Mark. You can read it, the 41st to the 45th verses of the 14th chapter of Mark. “The hour has come”—and you will notice in all of this everything is on time—“the hour has come; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.” That’s what the central character states. Then comes statements of the evangelists, speaking now of the one who entered. He had given them a sign that the one that he shall kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him out safely. Then comes the finale of the drama, lead him out safely. And now, he repeats the story of the betrayer that his hour had come. This is a true, true story that unfolds in man, and every man has the word buried in him. Then that word breaks the shell and begins to expand, like the Tree of Life.368 ¶7

And may I tell you, Judas is not the one that departed and told the story; Judas is the revealer. No one knew who he was, this one that entered. For the betrayer is going to enter quickly, as you are told, and when he comes he will go up to him right away. In other words, he goes right up. Now, there is no hesitation when he enters, he goes straight to the one, and he kisses him. As you’re told in the drama, he goes right up, he doesn’t wait, doesn’t hesitate. And he walked as fast as a soldier on a rapid march. Here he goes straight up and he simply embraces you, calls you Master. The word master is the same word translated as the Lord, as the one of authority.368 ¶8

The first thing that he does, he fulfills in that moment the 22nd chapter and the 53rd chapters of the Book of Isaiah. He hammers the peg upon your shoulder, that wooden peg on which all the authority is given to you. For he hangs upon you complete authority over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all of the world…hangs it upon you. Then, at the end, the peg falls and you’re relieved of the burden of running it. So you’ve been chosen at that moment to play that part in a section of time following your departure from here. Then comes the 53rd chapter, “Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” . He reveals the arm, the right arm, the arm of power. We have it here symbolized in the Mass. You can’t say the Mass with the left hand, you do it with the right. There was a cardinal here who developed some kind of a clot in his right arm on his way to Rome and the Ecumenical Conference and they had to amputate the right arm. He was a very fine man, a wonderful cardinal, and he got special permission from the Pope to conduct it with the left. In other words, this is all symbolism on this level. You only conduct it with the right hand. So he severs the sleeve that hides the arm of the Lord, which is all symbolism, beautiful, beautiful figures.368 ¶9

So, here in this world, I tell you the whole drama is true, perfectly true. So who are the enemies?—those who recoil from the revelation of the truth. I tell you your own wonderful human Imagination is God. That is the truth. Tonight, one billion who believe they believe in Christ would recoil from that statement. And they do not know they are the enemies of Christ. They are the enemies of the truth, for Christ is the truth. So Christ in man is his own wonderful human Imagination. Those who cannot accept it and will not accept it, who recoil from him, they would tear you apart. But they don’t. For he said, the betrayer said, “Seize him, but lead him away safely.” He doesn’t care. He only reveals. Those to whom he reveals the truth would destroy him.368 ¶10

But, he disguises. He finds the truth. He finds the embodiment of it, the personification of truth, and simply embraces him with extended arms. Now, the word Judah means “celebrated; the celebrant; the one who officiates at the great Eucharist.” It means “the hand of power.” It means “to revere, to worship with extended hands”…just exactly what he did, complete extension of the hands. He simply came forward, dressed in the most wonderful clothes. He was the sovereign conducting now the Eucharist, putting into the shoulder that which would hold the burden of Israel, and then embracing you after extending his arms and betraying you with a kiss. He reveals you to yourself who you are.368 ¶11

So all these characters they are known only as they are manifested in him who is the Word made flesh. So the Word is buried in man. The Word unfolds and as it unfolds that eternal story buried in man takes on flesh, takes on form and reveals to man who the man really is. The man is revealed to himself as Christ the Lord; therefore, the whole vast world misunderstanding the story has condemned the revealer throughout the years. And everyone who reveals the truth is condemned. So, the revealer of the truth is in man. When man arrives at a certain point, then like a leaf coming out of a tree or the fruit coming out, he appears. He’s only known in his full significance when he’s actually made manifest in the man who is really the Word made flesh. So every name has its significance.368 ¶12

Here, a lady writes me a story—and these are simply touching on the power that will be exercised tomorrow by everyone in the world. These are powers…tasting of the powers of the age to be. She said, “The year was 1965 and the month was May. It was two in the afternoon and I was lying on the floor. I said to myself, ‘If I wanted to I could get out of my body’ and then, automatically, I wanted to. And instantly I was viewing a scene, some country scene. Here to my left a horse drawn carriage with two people in it. It’s a dirt road, unpaved. It was almost covered with a dust about six inches on the sides and the center multiple varying impressions made on this dust; but the dust at least six inches on the sides of the unpaved road. To my right were people. I saw three abreast facing the carriage, one just a little behind. This unpaved road lined with trees, but they were not moving. They were in the act of motion but they were not moving. And here, I saw these, everything…she didn’t say they were frozen, but she said they were inactive. “They were in the process of motion but they couldn’t move. And I knew that it was my presence that made them inactive and I also knew that when I withdrew from the scene, they would become animated. While I was present they were inactive, but when I withdrew from the scene they would be animated. Suddenly I found myself back on the floor and I said to myself, ‘I was there and I was awake, completely awake. I was there, but where was I? And a voice within me said, ‘Paris 1778.’” She said the ladies were dressed in long skirts to their ankles. Men and women wore hats. And these ladies wore these long skirts around their ankles; and they were in blue, lovely shades of blue, the lightest of blue, the bluest of blue, with a brilliance or a luster added to it. The voice said, ‘Paris 1778.’”368 ¶13

Now, if you tell that to one who has not had a similar experience, he would say, what does it mean? May I tell you, this whole thing is a play. It hasn’t passed away at all, any more than the first act of any play has ceased to be. It is being reenacted over and over and over. And man is totally unaware of the fact he is in a play. The garments are dead and someone animates him until that Word of God buried in man hatches out. As it hatches out of this permanent play, he comes out and he’s born just as you’re told Christ was born in the gospels. “Unless you be born from above, you cannot inherit the kingdom of God” . So man must be born from above, therefore, come out of this world. And it seems so alive to us, doesn’t it? Yet, it is all dead. And those who are having these experiences are tasting of the powers of the age to come…when finally we all come out, one by one, to unite into a single being who is God. Here, in one being he buried himself, the one, in all and his buried self is called the Word. It’s his plot, his plan of salvation.368 ¶14

So here, Judah—which was in the genealogy the son of Jacob—“And Jacob’s son was Judah.” He had Judah and his brothers. It didn’t say Ruben, Laban, didn’t say any of the others, and “Judah and his brothers.” And the word Judah and the word Judas and the word Jude and the word Thaddaeus are one and the same in scripture; meaning, simply, “the celebrant; the celebrated; the power of God; the hand of God; the creative hand of God.” It begins with a Yod…Yod, which means “hand, the hand that is a creative hand, the powerful hand.” Then comes the He and then the Vau. Then comes He in this word a Daleth, a door. “I am the door. Anyone who enters by me is saved.”368 ¶15

You can only come through this one door; there is no other door. And so he comes up, he embraces you, betrays you. But to betray you is to reveal you to yourself as the being you really are. And he reveals you as the one whom he has just actually nailed into your shoulder that peg on which all the burdens, all the responsibilities, and the authority of running it hangs for awhile. It will be taken off and then passed to another. All must exercise the right to run it, to run this wheel that is moving over and over. We are all passing through the same scene over and over and over again.368 ¶16

So just as this lady saw this scene in the year 1778…I can tell you, from my own experience, I have come into places just like this. As I entered I knew if I arrested an activity in my own Imagination, everything would stand still. Well, I did and it all stood still. And yet, they were just like you. Go into a restaurant and the restaurant, everything is in order, people being served. I arrested the activity and no one could be served and no one could continue eating, everything was simply still. When I released it they all continued on their course as they intended. The one drinking soup finished the soup. The waiter coming in or the waitress coming in continued the action to serve second courses and everything continued.368 ¶17

You go to a play, you see that wonderful play, the end is already written, but you don’t know it. You’re carried away with the entire action and you see it and you love it, you weep, you laugh, you resent, you do all the things, all the emotions are played upon you by the unfolding actions. And so, you don’t realize while you’re in it that it is a play.368 ¶18

Well here, God is buried in his pre-determined play, all things exist, all things. And man, simply, who is God that is buried in this play and goes through from the cradle to the grave, and goes through and through and through until finally the Word buried in man awakens. As it awakens, he is extracted from the play. As told us in the Psalms, to the Lord God belongs this redemption from death, this salvation from death, no one else. He simply awakens in us. He doesn’t pull me from the outside.368 ¶19

Every character in scripture is in me: All things exist in the human Imagination…and human Imagination is the divine body. And so, buried in me is that plot, that plan, called the Word of God, which was with God and is God. And God is buried in me. It takes all of these strange and horrible things of the world to shift, agitate, to get it in motion to start to awaken. Then it awakens in us. And then all these characters come to play their part relative to us.368 ¶20

So when he comes, we are told, the Son of man is betrayed. But he tells you the Son of man is Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the Son of God and God are one. So he tells you what is now being betrayed or revealed: he reveals you. As he reveals you he makes known to you and delivers you into the hands of the enemy. For you can’t stop it, you’re going to tell it. And those will recoil who hear it. As they recoil, they are the enemies of the truth. For you have experienced it! And so, they are the enemies of the truth. And the truth is the Word of God, and the Word of God and God are one. So they recoil from it, but they know it not. So, “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” When they attack the revelation of truth, it’s because they do not know. So the whole thing unfolds within us. There is nothing but God unfolding within us.368 ¶21

So I tell you that your own wonderful human Imagination is God. You can take it from there and test it this night, just test it. Imagine a state as though it were true. Believe in the reality of Christ who is your own wonderful human Imagination. Believe that all things are possible to him. Then just go about your business and see how quickly it comes to pass in your world in a way that no one knows.368 ¶22

The end is the unfoldment in man of scripture, but in that interval you and I are free to choose what we want to do. Maybe [...] a certain freedom as actors are. You’ve seen Hamlet, as I have maybe a dozen times, different actors playing the part, and no two interpret Hamlet alike. They differ in their interpretation. That’s their choice, that’s their privilege. So, you are playing a part and you can change it. You can change it and play it differently, but you will not go outside of the framework of God. Because God’s framework is in you, that is the play, that when it unfolds it unfolds in you. The outer part doesn’t really matter.368 ¶23

So this little thing goes on forever…just as this lady saw a scene in 1778 in Paris. When this thing drops, when I take it off and you burn it and dissolve it, you can’t destroy the interval that it walked this earth. And so someone will come upon the scene, reanimate it, or keep it still as she did, and see the scene. This never passes away. But there is something buried in all who are present in this scene that is the gospel, the Word of God. That Word is buried in man and then will slowly unfold. As you and I, the immortal you, cannot die, I cannot go to eternal death in that which cannot die. And so, the immortal self is your own wonderful human Imagination. It can never die. I don’t care what you do to the body, how you rub it out. If you dissolve it and just turn it into ashes, here is this little dust, it cannot die. Nothing dies in God’s world. He is the God of the living. So everything remains forever and forever and forever.368 ¶24

But something in this, as Blake so beautifully said in his Vision of the Last Judgment, “Eternity exists and all things in eternity independent of Creation, which was an act of mercy.” So the whole vast world is simply a part of the structure of the eternal world; but buried in it is that act of mercy, when he buries himself in it all and extracts himself so that he expands beyond what he was when he buried himself in it. These little forms remain. Nothing passes away. Unless in the end, which is not my vision, that he decides to bring the whole vast thing to an end, having extracted his whole being. So you are told in scripture nothing is lost. “It is not the will of my Father of all that he has given me that anything be lost,” as you read it in the 6th chapter of John: “Nothing of all that he has given me, nothing shall be lost, and I’ll raise it up at the last day” . He gave me every character in scripture, he gave you every character in scripture, and you’ll raise it up at the last day, because God, the infinite God, is buried in you.368 ¶25

You dwell upon it. Take my word for it. I’m telling you what I know from experience. I can see that whole thing unfold in my mind’s eye now, and everything said in scripture. “Rise!” said he. We’re all seated on the floor and he said, “Rise! Let us be going. See, my betrayer is at hand.” And the minute he entered the door…the authority that he bore! And we rise and stand at attention while he makes the quick motion across the room and comes straight before you. Well, he is Yod He Vau Daleth He…here is God himself, now transferring the power to the one that he now is going to kiss and betray. And while you are embraced, there the whole thing comes to an end.368 ¶26

So we have condemned a man called Judas, and Judas is the eternal character who reveals God in man to the man in whom he dwells. So we go back to Blake, “Why stand we here trembling around calling on God for help, and not ourselves, in whom God dwells?” . So, turn on the outside and call on a God for help and not ourselves in whom he dwells? So he simply turned to self in whom he dwells. And you’ll see the whole thing unfold within you. As I told you earlier, it wasn’t painful when he put that wooden peg into my shoulder. He hammered it in. I felt the impact but there was no pain. So then he makes the statement, “Seize him and take him away safely.”368 ¶27

Now, when Pilate said, “Where do you come from?” and Jesus did not answer, Pilate said to him, “So you will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?” Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it had not been given to you from above; therefore he who delivers me into your hands has the greater sin” . Here is the play, on this level. You could do nothing were it not part of the play, given from above. So he thought in his blind state he could exercise the power to release or to crucify. He said, “You could do nothing were it not given to you from above.” So man has to be born from above to get that same power that he may see the whole play that goes over and over and over. And it all takes place within us.368 ¶28

So from beginning to end the story is true, every word of it is true. I can tell you, as I stand before you the whole drama has been fulfilled in me. And yet I am the same man that I have known since I was a boy, the same Neville. I think of my mother as I thought of her when I was a child. She’s just as dear and tender to my father. They’ve gone from this world, but they’re not gone, really, not to me they aren’t gone. My brothers, my sister, all of my family, they’re all just as tender…my friends. So, I’m not a different person because of this. So there is no loss of identity, and yet the whole thing said of him I have experienced.368 ¶29

And I can tell you that this one of whom I speak is your own wonderful human Imagination. All things exist in the human Imagination, but all things. And it’s buried in you…it simply unfolds in you as you go through this. Not knowing who you are, you imagine all kinds of things and these are the blows, horrible blows. You need not encounter them, but if you don’t know who you are and you are the enemy of Christ, you will recoil from what I am telling you and then you will not apply it. You’d rather not hear it, and go to church, and go to mass and do this, and give all the little things, light a candle, and feel now that’s it… because he is a devil who’ll make that statement.368 ¶30

In fact, I have people writing me letters and it’s really amusing. They say, “You’re name is not Neville, you are a devil.” “You say Goddard is your last name?” and they have all kinds of things…they’re twisting the whole thing together. It’s amusing them, writing me reams and it’s really fun. And this one letter up in San Francisco who is always sending these things along. He sends huge, big things, piles of it. It’s amusing. I know one day he will simply awaken and all that he did will be completely forgotten and not brought into mind any more, completely forgotten. But he’s in a battle with himself, he’s struggling with himself, because he can’t believe that his own wonderful human Imagination is God…and the one who does it and reveals it to the sinner.368 ¶31

The betrayer betrays Christ to the sinner. The sinner is one who is missing the mark in life. That’s all that the word sin means “to miss the mark.” And so, you tell the sinners of the world who is the cause of the phenomena of life and why he’s missing it, and he resents you because he’s going to turn to his external Christ and pray to some God that doesn’t exist. He can’t believe that God is within him…that his own wonderful human Imagination is God and the only God. That he so loved us he became us that we may be as he is. And, they can’t accept that, so they try to tear you apart. But he doesn’t do it physically, for the story is, “lead him away safely.” So you are safely taken away, out of the reach of the violence. They simply leave your world. That’s what happens. They do not hurt. They just simply depart, because they cannot accept the truth.368 ¶32

So when truth is revealed the majority run from it. It’s not what they expected. They always wanted some external God to serve. And any external God is going to enslave you. I don’t care what he looks like. Whether he be the most beautiful thing in the world, he will enslave you if you follow him. Follow no external being in this world. That goes for all teachers, all priests, all popes, all doctors, all everything. The minute that you follow them as something external that is your great leader, he will enslave you. That is in the Book of Samuel, the 1st chapter of Samuel. Find him within you or you will never find him. And when you find him within you, here the whole story is unfolding within you.368 ¶33

Could I have gone to sleep and conjured that drama? Could I have conjured a room where thirteen of us are clothed in the ancient robes, seated on the ground, and then one departs and I knew intuitively the nature of why he is departing, he’s going to reveal what he’s heard? As he reveals what he’s heard, now the real betrayer will enter. For only one who has reached that point could tell it, and so now he comes in. Who comes in?—Judas. Judas comes in and does exactly what you’re told in the 14th chapter of Mark. He comes in and he walks rapidly up to him and says, “Master!” and kisses him, just as you’re told in the Book of Mark. He comes in, in the same manner, and the minute he enters, you rise. What are the words in the mouth of Jesus? He said, “Rise, let us be going, for my betrayer is at hand.” Then comes the symbol. He’s given them a sign…this is only a sign…he’s given them a sign: “The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away safely” .368 ¶34

You aren’t going to be crucified; crucifixion is over, the crucifixion is completely over. There is no second crucifixion. It’s simply resurrection now, one after the other, resurrected. But no more crucifixion…that whole thing is over. And may I tell you from my own personal experience, in that mystical crucifixion it was infinite joy! Ecstasy! When I tell you what it means to be nailed upon this cross, far from pain, pain nothing. You’re giving up the most heavenly being that you are, a world of vortices, and you nail yourself deliberately upon this.368 ¶35

Now, in the New Testament there’s only one suicide, Judas. There is another but it is implied, in the 10th chapter of John. In the 10th chapter of John, it is stated, “No one takes away my life, I lay it down myself. I have the power to lay it down and the power to take it again. And I and the Father are one” . So no one has taken my life from me. So when Judas commits suicide, as we are told in scripture, you go back to Blake, “Unless I die thou canst not live, but if I die I shall arise again and thou with me. Wouldst thou love one who had never died for thee or ever die for one who had not died for thee? And if God giveth not himself to man, man could not exist.”368 ¶36

So God dies. He actually…because he is his own Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God” . So he becomes me. And his Word is buried in all. The Word contains his plan of salvation: How we reach the limit of contraction here and then burst it and expand, and then there is no limit to expansion. As he begins to burst it and to expand, the drama, as told in scripture as the story of Jesus Christ, unfolds within the man in whom the seed bursts. And that is the story. Everyone will have it, and you will know that you’ve lost not one.368 ¶37

So you can’t lose Judas. Although the world thinks that he was the son of perdition, as told us in the 17th of John. “Of all that thou hast given me I have lost none but the son of perdition.” Well, the son of perdition simply means “the belief in loss.” I can’t lose any. I’ll go back tonight and see the year 2000 and it’s still taking place, arrest it, look at it, reanimate it, let it go. Go back to the year 1778 and see the scene that my friend saw…or another scene. Because in that same year, [...] of the scenes were taken. All these are taking place in this fabulous world of ours, as something in us that is God is awakening. It awakes and comes out, and when we come out we are God the Father.368 ¶38

So in the end, when he manifests the last name—all these are names that he has manifested—the last name we find it in the 17th of John: “Holy Father, keep them in thy name that thou gavest to me, that we may be one and they one” . Keep them in thy name…the very name thou gavest me, for he addresses him now, “Holy Father.” Well, that same name is given him; well then, the name is going to be given you. Keep you in that name that they may be one as we are one. And so, the name Father is given to you. Not just a name but the true fatherhood of God, because God’s only begotten Son, David, calls you Father. And then you have the holy name. And at a certain point then the same one that came to me will come to you and nail upon your shoulder that wooden peg and then sever that sleeve, and tear it off, and reveal the arm of God. The same words, “But who will believe our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” But it will be…and then you will know and you will tell it. You can’t restrain the impulse to tell it. “If I say I will not mention his name any more, then there is within me as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot” .368 ¶39

So I can’t restrain the impulse to talk about it while I still wear the garment of flesh, because I know it’s the truth. So you tell it and many will recoil. Don’t be surprised if they do. In my own family I haven’t had one member, save the one who’s departed, who showed any interest in what I have written or what I teach…only the one who departed this world a year ago last August [...].368 ¶40

Here, Judas, the most maligned character in the New Testament, the only one who committed suicide. And may I tell you there is no condemnation of suicide in scripture. In the Old Testament we have Saul who committed it and his armor bearer committed it. Only four characters mentioned who committed suicide in the Old, only one in the New. And it’s not condemned. There is no condemnation, because the Lord himself said, “I take away my own life and no one takes it from me.” So there’s no condemnation of suicide in scripture, in spite of what the churches teach, when they will not bury the suicide in what they call holy ground. Of all the nonsense in the world! And so, they simply must go elsewhere because of that act…because the average person does not have the impulse to. No matter how they do it, it’s still not condemned. For in the end all committed it.368 ¶41

Because in the beginning God did it: “No one took away my life, I laid it down myself. I have the power to lay it down and the power to take it up again.” He becomes as I am that I may be as he is. And who would have thought reading that story as taught that it took place 2,000 years ago and it’s contemporary. The drama is unfolding in us. Every word of it is true, even to the little points like “Rise, and let us be going” and you all rise at the entrance. He comes straight to you, not moving around, looking over the place. He comes straight to you and then performs this act in fulfillment of scripture, stretches his arms out, proving he is Judah—it means “extended hands”—embraces you and kisses you. That was a sign that he had given them prior to his entrance. And when he kisses you, you in turn kiss him. For the word also means “thanksgiving.” It means “thanks,” the word Judah; the word Thaddeus is thanks, the same word. And so, you thank him that you have received the Lord’s favor, because that’s what grace is. Grace is simply God’s favor, unearned, unmerited, unwarranted.368 ¶42

But he’s given you now the power of running, controlling this wheel when you depart from this. And you will do it, because then the power and the wisdom to do it is yours. No mistakes.368 ¶43

Now let us go into the Silence. * * *368 ¶44

“I believe that God is love and he loves me, but why am I so afraid of thunder and lightning”? Well, my dear, I made the statement the other day and I think I can repeat it. You may not have been here. I’ll tell it in the form of a story. It was a mission and one of the pupils in the mission said to the missionary, “Do you really believe that God is our Father and that he cares for each and every one of us?” The missionary said, “I most certainly do!” And the pupil said, “Then why do you worry?” The habit of worry really discloses a lack of faith in the sovereignty of God. If I say that he is my Father and truly cares for me and then I worry, then I am simply revealing a lack of faith in the one I say I love and believe in. So, we try every night to get over to everyone a transference of their beliefs to this one being that really should have all of your faith. So instead of having something on the outside, in the event that this fails, you don’t…he said, “You either serve me or you don’t. He who is not with me is against me.” You’re either for me or against me. And we go right to that core of all things, which is your own wonderful human Imagination. And you will not be concerned about lightning and thunder. He is controlling everything, everything…but everything. And so, my dear, fall in love with the being who so loves you that he actually became you that you, in turn, may become God. God became you, individually, that you may become God. And in you, his name is I AM, that’s his name. All that he did he will do in you. So, just try it, prove him first in the outer world. Take a goal, something you really want, and then apply this principle toward the fulfillment of it, all in your Imagination, just as though it were true, and walk that way.368 ¶46

When you said this lady had this experience and she saw these people that they were not moving. Is it because she was there just in a moment of time…because, in your drama they were moving.368 ¶47

Speaker

When I entered, they were in the act. I arrested them. When she entered, they were in the process of motion but did not move. And she knew intuitively that they did not move because of her presence, and that the withdrawal of her presence from the scene would allow them to become activated. That’s what she wrote me. The whole thing is really…it’s a strange thing. Did you ever read the book called An Adventure by these two teachers, Mobley…what’s the other one…one was called Mobley, anyway. They were two English teachers who went to Versailles in the early part of this century, and suddenly, as they went to Versailles, something happened and they’re not seeing the modern Versailles at all. They’re seeing it as it was during, or just about, the Revolution. They saw it just about that period. They did not tell each other what they saw, but when they returned to England they communicated and said, “I had a strange experience” and they wrote their experiences to each other. And both dovetailed what they were seeing. They were so completely carried away with this that they sought out the archives, went over to France again, and told them what they had seen, as the costumes, as the certain little bridges. And when a thorough investigation was made, the French government had to completely correct all the things that they had written into their history books and what the two ladies saw were true. The costumes, the little bridge over a certain point, everything they saw was accurate and what the French people telling in their history books and teaching their children, they were not accurate. But thorough investigation proved that [...] costumes, everything, including the little structures that they saw. It’s called An Adventure by Miss Mobley and Miss…I can’t recall the other name at the moment, but two ladies, both were scholars, both taught in England. So they came upon a scene, but they couldn’t understand how it happened to them. But that scene was animated. They seemed to see her and yet not see her. They were not distracted by the presence of these two who observed this unfolding drama. It hadn’t passed away at all. Everything is taking place. We are being extracted, and to the Lord God belongs our escape from death, as we’re told in the 68th Psalm: “And to the Lord God belongs our escape from death” . This is death…but his seed will be extracted. “My word shall not return unto me void, but it must accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it” . And so, everything will be brought back just as God planned it. You and I are the gods he sent into the world, for the one God fragmented himself and buried himself in all, and played all the parts. This drama unfolds in us. The story is so true. I can’t tell you how true it is, but so unlike what the world teaches. And yet, every word of God proves true. In fact, what is not written in scripture is really non-existent. It simply passes away. But what is there is forever. Until it’s completely fulfilled, the drama is not over. It must be completely fulfilled. God planned everything as it has come out and as it will be consummated. Well, my time is up. Until [...].368 ¶48

Infinite States

Quite often someone will say to me: “I don’t think others understand you.” I was asked this question: “When you use the word ‘state’ I don’t think others know what you mean, so would you please explain it?” Tonight I will try.367 ¶1

We are told: “You are sons of the Most High, all of you.” (Not just a few, but all of us). “Nevertheless, you will die like men and fall” into infinite states of consciousness, for states are that into which the sons of the Most High fall. A state is an attitude of mind, a state of experience with a body of beliefs which you live by. Always expressing a state, you identify yourself with it by saying: “I am poor or I am rich. I am known or I am unknown. I am wanted or I am unwanted.” I could go on indefinitely, because there are infinite states into which an individual son of the Most High may fall.367 ¶2

Blake made this statement: “Eternity Exists and All things in Eternity Independent of Creation which was an act of Mercy. By this it may be seen that I do not consider either the Just or the Wicked to be in a Supreme State, but to be every one of them States of the Sleep which the Soul may fall into in its deadly dreams of Good and Evil.”367 ¶3

When you find yourself in a state or see a seeming other in a state, do not condemn or praise it, for all states exist and no state is greater than another. Every state is an attitude, a state of experience with a body of beliefs that an individual son of the Most High occupies. And if that an individual son of the Most High, then are we not brothers of the Highest Unity? And are we not also members of the ultimate body who is God the Father? So the states into which we fall cannot mar or in any way deter our immortal self who fell.367 ¶4

Your creative power did not willingly fall. It was your Father’s will that you, his creative power, descend into and experience states. In the 8th chapter of Romans, Paul tells us: “He was made subject unto futility, not willingly, but by reason of the will of him who subjected him in hope.” There is unity in God, yet God the Father is made up of gods, the sons. So God’s creative power fell into division and passes through states which results in resurrection into unity.367 ¶5

As a son of the Most High you can, in the twinkle of an eye, move into any state, but the chances are you will not remain there for a state is made up of a body of beliefs! If you spend the day thinking from a certain base, a certain body of beliefs, the chances are you will fall asleep that night in the same belief. Knowing you can move into another state, another body of beliefs, you may try to move, but you must persist in staying in the new state until it becomes natural.367 ¶6

There are unnumbered states and the occupant of one state is not better than the occupant of another, for each is a brother in the highest unity and all are one in the body of God the Father. But the state, the attitude of mind to which you most constantly return, constitutes your dwelling place. If you dwell in self- pity you will express the state, but by occupying that state you are not less than one who has ambitions to enter the White House, or the Vatican as the Pope. The individual desiring an ambitious state is not greater than or less than the one who doesn’t know he is in a state and remains subjected to it.367 ¶7

How do you get out of a state? Through belief! You must believe in the doctrine. You are told: “Whatsoever you desire, believe you have received it and you will.” The precepts of Christ must be accepted literally, for they will be fulfilled literally. Can you believe the precept that believing you have already received your desire will bring it forth in your world? If so, then tonight you can change the things that are happening in your world.367 ¶8

And if you can believe and persuade yourself that things are as you want them to be to the point of actually moving into the feeling they are true, they will be felt and seen in your world. You must feel your desires are already realised, that they are already true, for the truth of any concept is known by the feeling of certainty that the thought is true. Assuming you are not the man (or woman) you want to be, you will know that you are really it by the feeling of certainty it inspires in you, for if you feel certain, you will act upon it. If you don’t act you are not convinced, for God in you is your own wonderful human imagination and God is always acting! You may be physically incapacitated, but you are forever acting in your imagination, who is God, the Father of your life.367 ¶9

By states I mean attitudes of mind. The New Testament begins: “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of heaven is at hand; repent and believe the gospel.” The word “repent” means “a radical change of attitude.” Your attitude need not be towards another, but an attitude regarding self. If you feel you have nothing to live for, you must repent by changing your attitude radically from that state. Don’t condemn yourself for the state into which you have fallen. If you don’t like it, move into another. Don’t feel sorry for yourself, for if you do you will make the state a habit and remain there for the rest of your days on earth. Instead, you can believe this doctrine and move out of any state.367 ¶10

Let me illustrate with this story. A gentleman, who attends the lectures, and his wife moved into their new home at the beach. Wanting some landscaping done, they invited five landscape artists to give them bids. Two wouldn’t even bid because of the location of the property, but after choosing one, the lawns and gardens as well as several trees were planted. Within six months three trees had died. Now, instead of getting angry and calling the man, demanding the trees be replaced, my friend decided to test his imagination; so while sitting in his car he imagined that he was leaning against the one healthy tree while gazing at the three which had appeared to be dead, but were now healthy and beautiful. Then one day the landscape artist came to the house, inquiring about the garden, especially the trees. It seems his men had used too much nitrogen in the fertiliser, which caused the roots to burn. Upon seeing the trees, he returned the following Tuesday and replaced them free of charge.367 ¶11

This same gentleman shared another experience with me, saying: “On my way to work the other morning I passed a very prominent building and said to myself, ‘I wonder what it would be like to work there?’ Knowing nothing about the company, I played with the idea of them offering me a fantastic salary and even imagined seeing my name on the office door. That very day while at work I received a call from an agency hired to fill the executive positions for the company whose building I had passed, and whose employment I had just imagined. The agency was calling to ask if I would consider working for their client. I was so shocked to realise that the law could work so quickly, but now I know it does!”367 ¶12

You don’t have to remain in a state if you have made a mistake. You can change states morning, noon, and night, but the state to which you most constantly return constitutes your dwelling place. It is from there you are going to live and perpetuate until you move in thought.367 ¶13

As Blake said: “The oak is cut down by the ax and the lamb is slain by the knife, but their eternal form remains forever and reproduces its external form by the seed of contemplative thought.”367 ¶14

The being that you really are, descended to the weakness of the flesh, causing you to experience the state you are now in. Contemplate another state, and the same being who brought your present form into being will restore and make alive the other state, the state desired. This he will continue to do until his purpose is fulfilled.367 ¶15

That purpose is to follow a certain pattern back into the unity of being. You see, in the beginning we were drafted. We did not volunteer to fall into these states. We were made subject into futility, not willingly but by the will of him who sent us. But when we return we will discover that we are the very being who subjected us. We are now the sons, destined to return as God the Father!367 ¶16

Now let me share with you a word that I use night after night. The word is “David” and means “lover; beloved” but specifically “father’s brother.” We are all brothers, yet after my resurrection and return into unity David (father’s brother) called me Father. The day will come when David will call you Father too, for he is the father’s brother. We are all brothers of the highest unity, predestined to resurrect into that unity which was broken in our fall into division.367 ¶17

So David’s name in the most specific sense is “uncle”. If David is the father’s brother and everyone is a brother in the fall into division, when resurrected into unity David is he who reveals everyone as the Father. Unity was broken for a purpose. God’s creative might descended to experience states in order to become greater than it was prior to the descent. Having unity in thought, creative power fell into division and will be resurrected back into unity of thought once more.367 ¶18

So when I speak of states I am speaking of states of consciousness, attitudes of mind which create a body of belief. My sister and brothers at home do not believe in the same Christ as I do, even though we were all born in the same family and raised in the same environment. My brothers call themselves Christians but their definition of Christ would differ from mine. From their state of consciousness they believe in a man who lived two thousand years ago, yet I would tell you that Christ is God’s creative power and wisdom which descends into states, resurrects, and returns as the being who sent it out.367 ¶19

The day will come when you will understand all of these precepts as being literally true. Here is one to be found 1 John, the 3rd chapter, the 2nd verse: “We are now the children of God; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him.” How will we know him? By becoming as he is! The preachers of the world will tell you that when he comes, you will be like him in character, in your attitude towards life. You will be kind and considerate and have his fine qualities, but I tell you: you will be like him who is in the depths of your soul meditating you!367 ¶20

This I know from experience. It was in the year 1936 when I saw the rock that scripture claims as the God who gave me birth. One day while quietly sitting in the silence, a rock suddenly appears before my vision. Then it divides itself and just as quickly reassembles itself into a man seated in the lotus posture, meditating deeply. As I looked closer I discovered I was seeing myself meditating me! And then I knew that when he awoke I wouldn’t vanish, but rather I would know that I am He!367 ¶21

This thing called Neville who stands before you is his emanation. He brought it into being, and although you cut off its head a thousand times he will restore its eternal form by the seed of contemplative thought. Nothing ceases to be, because all things exist in eternity and can be brought into being by this meditative being, who looks just like you, only raised to the nth degree of majesty.367 ¶22

You have never seen your face look so beautiful. You have never seen it contain such majestic power, such strength of character. Looking at himself and knowing there is no other, as he glows like the sun you return to the being he is meditating in this world of mortality.367 ¶23

When you have this experience you will have nothing to do with anyone who claims he or she is Christ. You will let no one deter you, for when you see him you will be just like him. Have you ever seen anyone in this world who is exactly like you? Your children may resemble you but if you put a picture of one of them beside yours, you would know they were pictures of different people, would you not? No one has the same fingerprints or the same odor as another. But when you meet the rock that begot you and the God who gave you birth, you will know him because you will be just like him.367 ¶24

When you see this being in the depth of your soul you are seeing the one who descended into these states, meditating himself. You are his emanation, his reflection playing the parts he dreams. And when he awakes from his descent and begins to ascend, you are He! No two seeds of contemplative thought in the depths of the soul are identical. We are all brothers, and having been subjected, when we return to unity we are God the Father.367 ¶25

Now you see who the word “David” means – “the father’s brother.” God the Father is my brother, who one day will rise and, taking me back to the unity of being, he will call me Father. That is David! That is the play! That is the mystery of life!367 ¶26

Now to come back to the beginning. Everything is a state. You can be any man, any woman that you want to be when you understand the mystery of states. A state is simply an attitude of mind, a body of belief, a phase of experience.367 ¶27

Now, don’t be like the moon, which changes from a quarter, to a half, to three quarters, to full – or the earth, which repeats itself over and over again season after season. Have you ever noticed that at certain times of the year, the same set of circumstances happen to you? Every year it is always very hot when it is time for your vacation or you are always broke around Christmas? Or that when you eat strawberries you always break out in a rash?367 ¶28

All of these are patterns created in the world of states in which we all live. There are infinite states and combinations of states into which God, your own wonderful human imagination, falls. Fortunately there is a limit, which comes when infinite mercy (who is within you) steps beyond and awakens himself; and as he does, you – the one he put through the torment – awaken, enhanced by the descent into these states. And as one you return, bringing your gifts which are the result of your experiences traveling through these states.367 ¶29

You bring your talents, of which the greatest is the art of forgiveness, the ability to enter into and partake of the opposite. When you see someone in despair can you represent him to yourself as he would like to be seen? And can you persuade yourself that what you see is real? To the degree that you are self-persuaded he will become that man. Then you will have conquered by forgiveness! You will have taken him out of one state and placed him in another.367 ¶30

Now, every act of kindness is a death in the divine image for in every act you sacrifice yourself. Making alive what you no longer want to see, you die to that and live in what you want to see, so every kindness to another is a death in the divine image.367 ¶31

By representing others to myself and persuading myself that they are as I would like them to be, to the degree that I am self-persuaded they will become it, and as they do I die to what I formerly made alive. I lived in what I thought them to be, and then I died to that thought. I did it deliberately so I laid it down myself! I have the power to lay it down and the power to pick it up again. I purposely laid my life down to what I saw and lifted it up to what I wanted to see, thereby resurrecting another (who is myself) into a new state.367 ¶32

How often must I do it? Seventy times seven, or as long as it takes me to convince myself that it is true. When I lay down my life for another he is my brother, for we have the same Father. As brothers we fall into states and resurrect ourselves into the unity of the Father! So the greatest talent, the greatest challenge to overcome, is the art of forgiveness.367 ¶33

By forgiveness I do not mean a verbal agreement, leaving the memory of what was forgiven. To completely forgive I must completely forget the event. No matter what was said, if you forgive me, you can’t even remember what I did or said. Only willing to see what you want to see, if you persuade yourself that you are now what you want to be, you have forgotten what you were before. That’s forgiveness. True forgiveness is complete forgetfulness.367 ¶34

Blake tells us: “The art of living is forgetting and forgiving.” If you don’t completely forgive you cannot forget, for to forgive is to change your attitude towards another, and as you change you forget what they said or did, thereby no longer keeping them in the state that compels them to do what they did!367 ¶35

While in a state, man must play the part the state dictates, and man must play every part. God in his infinite mercy has hidden from us the parts we have played, because the shock would be too great if we were to see the horrors that we have committed as we passed through all these states. You see, when you fall into a state you can’t help but act from that premise, and you can fall into any state!367 ¶36

I am not telling you that one state is right and another wrong. I am simply asking you to judge all states with love. If you are ever in doubt, always do the loving thing. Then you will know you are doing the right thing.367 ¶37

If someone comes to you and tells you they want a job, don’t ask him how he lost his previous job; simply hear him tell you he now has a wonderful job. Do that and you have taken him out of the state of unemployment and placed him in the state of the gainfully employed.367 ¶38

I urge you to use your own wonderful creative power and deliberately move into the state of your choice. Make it now by occupying the state long enough so that it feels natural.367 ¶39

Haven’t you had a suit of clothes that felt so new you were conscious of them every moment? I know when I bought my first suit I walked down Fifth Avenue thinking everyone I passed knew my suit was new. People passing paid no attention to me, but I was so aware, so conscious of my new suit. That’s exactly that happens when you move into a new state. If the state of affluence is new, you think everyone knows it, but no one knows or cares whether you are rich or poor, so walk in the state until it becomes natural. The moment the feeling is natural, wealth is yours!367 ¶40

I paid thirty dollars for my first suit. Today a suit will cost me $200.00, but regardless of the cost, when the suit is new I am aware of it. But let me wear it long enough for it to feel natural and I will no longer be conscious of it. The same is true for a state.367 ¶41

You may desire the state of fame. If you will think you are famous and remain conscious of the state long enough to make it natural, as the thoughts flow from you they become a natural part of your body of beliefs, and the world will proclaim your fame.367 ¶42

Now let us go into the silence.367 ¶43

The New Christology

Y ou will find this a very practical night, for I feel that the truth of the working of God’s law should be looked upon as intensely as anything in this world. So tonight I want to show you quite clearly how God’s law operates. We are told in the 14th chapter of John: “Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? When I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself that where I am there you may be also.” You may think some man is speaking to a group of men as I am here; but these words were spoken by the human Imagination, who – having come out from the Father, came into the world. Now leaving the world, human imagination is going to the Father’s house. He is returning to discover the source, the cause, of the phenomena of life. Jesus Christ, your own wonderful human imagination, is the way to everything in the world – but specifically to the Father.366 ¶1

Tonight we will take this thought on a practical level so that everyone will know how to bring into this world everything he wants, no matter what it is. Today billions of dollars are being spent on anti-poverty programs; yet the one consuming thing we need (which will not cost one nickel) is a new Christology, a new way of thinking of Christ as the human imagination! Christ is the cause of everything, but as long as the churches mislead the world – by teaching he is on the outside as one who lived and died 2000 years ago to whom you should turn and pray – you will never find him. Poverty can never be overcome on the outside, no matter how much money is given to the poor. Only when the poor man is told that he is the source of all life and taught how to turn and pray to himself, will he overcome poverty. So the outstanding need is to teach this new Christology, to tell everyone you meet that Christ is the human imagination, for without this knowledge – I don’t care what you do – you will never bring your desires into fulfillment.366 ¶2

“In my Father’s house are unnumbered mansions. Unnumbered states of consciousness. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” In this statement Imagination is telling you he is the Father for “No one comes to the Father but by me.” Only when you come to the awareness that your human imagination is the phenomenon, the source of all life, will you find the Father.366 ¶3

In the 60th plate of his poem, “Jerusalem,” Blake speaks of the tower of Babel. I am sure you are all familiar with the story of how the tower contained multiple voices so that no one understood the other. Today, even though we and those in Romania, Bulgaria, and Czechoslovakia live in what is referred to as democratic countries, we do not mean the same kind of democracy. To us democracy is based upon the principle of compromise, but not the compromise of principle as they do. So the world is Babel and Blake makes this statement: “Babel mocks saying, there is no God or Son of God. That thou O Human Imagination, O Divine Body, art all a delusion. But I know thee, O Lord.” (Here Blake calls his own human imagination, “Lord”) saying: “when thou ariseth upon.”366 ¶4

In the morning when Imagination ariseth and the eye awakens, you see the familiar objects about as life itself arises. The world is animated by your human imagination. If it did not return in the morning you would be called dead, for life is nothing more than an activity of imagining. So Blake continues, saying: “when thou ariseth upon my eyes, even in this dungeon, this iron mill.” You see, Blake saw the physical garment as a dungeon, a mill of iron. But your Imagination knows all, is all, and is all powerful!366 ¶5

If you should forget something, knowing that your own imagination is Jesus Christ, say: “Thank you Father that you always hear me.” Do that and in the matter of moments the thought will return. Recognise your own wonderful human imagination as the only God, the only Lord Christ Jesus, for besides him there is no other. So the outstanding need this day is for a new Christology, a new knowledge of Christ, a completely new thinking of the human imagination. Until this is done unnumbered billions will be appropriated to fight poverty to no avail. You can never give a poor man enough to satisfy him, and the day you stop giving he will cut your throat.366 ¶6

In our little island of Barbados we had a neighbour who had a cow. (Now, when I was young if you wanted milk you either kept a cow or a goat.) His cow had a calf and produced more milk than the neighbour could use, so the maid was sent to offer the excess milk – at no charge – to Mr. Seeon, a neighbour. He was delighted to receive it and was given his quart of milk every day until the cow was once more with calf and was dried up for the oncoming delivery. When Mr. Seeon was told that there would be no milk for about four weeks, he said: “If you knew you couldn’t keep me supplied with milk all of the time, you should have never given it to me in the first place. You have conditioned me to a quart of milk a day and now I have none.”366 ¶7

May I tell you: Mr. Seeon is simply representative of the world to whom you give. Try giving someone something on a monthly or yearly basis, then stop it, and you will find yourself his enemy. Knowing what you did in the past, he will hate you because you are not continuing to provide for him. But you can give him a new Christology by telling him that he doesn’t need you. That the source of all the phenomena of life is in him; that source is his own wonderful human imagination who is Jesus Christ.366 ¶8

Instead of teaching the true Christ, the churches tell of a Christ Jesus who lived and died two thousand years ago. They teach that he is still suffering for them even though they, themselves, are suffering. They do it because the priests do not know who Christ is. But if you who know who he is will put him to the test tonight, you will influence the world and bring about a new Christology, a new thinking about the human imagination; for the human imagination is Christ and there never was or never will be another.366 ¶9

In the 14th chapter of John, Imagination is speaking, saying: “Let not your hearts be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me.” I say the habit of worry discloses the lack of faith in the sovereignty of God. You believe in God? Believe also in imagination! If you worry you don’t believe in your imagination, for worry is your confession of your lack of faith in the sovereignty of God. Now imagination continues, saying: “In my Father’s house are many mansions, were it not so would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there you may be also.”366 ¶10

Right after the Second World War, I went to Barbados with my wife and daughter after purchasing only a one-way ticket there. Four months later I decided to arrange for my return passage, as I was scheduled to lecture on the first day of May. At that time there were only two ships servicing the dozens of islands, and, although my brother had tremendous power in the islands, he could not do anything toward getting us passage back to the United States. Hundreds of people were waiting on the list and I was informed that I could not get passage until the end of September. When I heard this I said to myself: “All right, I’ll get out.”366 ¶11

That afternoon I went to my hotel room, and sitting in an easy chair I allowed it to become a little boat. (You see, in those days there was no deep water harbor and little boats took us to ships which were anchored in the bay a mile or so away.) Assuming my chair was a boat taking me to the harbor, I felt the rhythm of the water, and when we were latched onto the big ship I allowed my brother Victor to carry my little daughter onto the ship. Then I helped my wife and followed her, feeling every step up the gangplank. When I got to the top my mind wandered, so I brought it back to the base of the steps and repeated the action. Each time my mind wandered I brought it back again until I reached the top, turned, and holding the side of the ship I looked back nostalgically at the island of Barbados, for now we were sailing.366 ¶12

In a matter of moments the phone rang and the agent told me that because of a cancellation they had just received from America my passage was available, and I could leave the end of April, the date I had just envisioned. On that day my brother carried my daughter up the gangplank, my sister-in-law followed, then my wife, and finally myself. They acted, but the source of their action was my imaginary act!366 ¶13

Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ is the source of all phenomena, that by him all things were made and without him was not anything made that was made. If Jesus Christ makes everything, and I know what I did, is he not my wonderful human imagination? He is described in Corinthians as the power of God and the wisdom of God, and isn’t that imagination? I didn’t pray to anyone. I simply sat in a chair and enacted a scene that, if true, would imply I am sailing. As I allowed the scene to take on the tones of reality by giving it all of the sense of vividness of naturalness, the phone rang, and I had confirmation of my trip to New York. So where is the creative power of the universe if not within man?366 ¶14

Paul tells us: “He loved you and gave himself for you.” Loving you, Imagination gave himself to you by becoming you that you may become Imagination, who is Christ. There never was another Christ and never will be another. Put your imagination to the test and see if it is Christ. If it is, do you need anyone to support you? Do you need any anti-poverty campaign? If those on relief could only believe in Christ, what a change they could make in their life!366 ¶15

Instead, they go to church and give it a portion of what is given to them through relief. They support emotionalism because they do not know that source of the phenomena of life. Those on relief think their income is coming from Uncle Sam, not knowing he does not exist. No government has any money! The money it has is first taken from you before it can be given to another. In this world the money we earn is taken from us to give to the Mr. Seeons of the world, and if it is stopped, the so-called government will be criticised for stopping the gift. The churches haven’t failed, except in not telling the true story of Christ. Rather than giving to the poor, they should tell the poor who Christ really is!366 ¶16

If I tell you who Christ is and testing, you find him as your human imagination, does it matter what the world thinks? If there is evidence for a thing, does it matter what anyone thinks? If this can be proved in performance, what does it matter what the world thinks? You do not need to ask any minister, rabbi, or priest what he thinks, if you can test your imagination and prove its creative power!366 ¶17

So, in the Father’s house are many states of consciousness. Pick a state, enter and occupy it. Your Father is the good shepherd and your desires are his sheep. When the good shepherd comes, he gathers all of your desires for yourself and others together and brings them into the field. How is this done? In your imagination! A friend’s desire may not be your desire for him, but if it is not in conflict with your ethical code and you are a good shepherd, you will represent your friend to yourself as telling you that he (or she) has it. That way your sheep, having heard your voice, will follow you into the fold.366 ¶18

In the 10th chapter of John we are told that the good shepherd goes first and his sheep follow. Signs follow, they do not precede. Take your desire into the fold by putting yourself into the desired state. Remain there until you feel its reality. Knowing that imagining creates reality, thank your Father and drop it. Now, do nothing on the outside to make it so, only know your desire is yours the moment you do it!366 ¶19

Do not expect immediate birth! There are always intervals of time between pregnancy and its fulfillment. One seed may take 21 days, another five months, nine months, a year, or even more. Do not be concerned with the interval of time between the fertilisation of the seed and its hatching; only know the seed of desire has been planted in the mind. And if at times you find your sheep have gone astray, bring them back into your fold when you know who the good shepherd is. But if you don’t, you will find many shepherds who will fleece366 ¶20

you! So I say: the greatest need today is not for a different church, but for a new Christology, a new thinking of the human imagination! There was never another Christ and there never will be another, no matter what the world teaches. “I go, to prepare a place for you.” Taking all of your requests, imagination’s power goes and prepares a place for you to receive them. Going to the state of health, imagination prepares a place of health for one, of wealth for another, fame for another. You might not want to be famous, but if fame is their desire go and prepare a place of fame for366 ¶21

them. They may not know that fame is simply a sketch in the sands of time. They may think their face can be engraved in granite and it will remain forever, but it is all an illusion. Their name can be forgotten as quickly as the next generation, but they want fame now and you – being the good shepherd – give it to366 ¶22

them. Knowing the source of the phenomena of life you will realise nothing really matters. If you know how a thing is made and it is taken from you, you can remake it again. So you see: knowledge is far more important than that which knowledge has made, but man is lost in that which is made and has forgotten the maker. Everyone should be completely consumed with the desire to know how a thing is made.366 ¶23

I’ll tell you how I make it. Knowing what I want, reason may tell me I can’t get it and my senses may deny that I have it; but believing that my own wonderful human imagination is Christ and trusting myself, I assume I have it and drop it right there. I do not concern myself with what means will be employed for me to get it, I simply believe I already have it! I believe that my own wonderful human imagination is Jesus Christ and all things are possible to him, even the recording of something that I have struggled all day to remember and cannot.366 ¶24

Like Blake I turn to my human imagination, my divine body, for I know thee O Lord, when thou ariseth upon my eyes, even in this dungeon. So when I awake in the morning and imagination returns to make me alive, I trust it implicitly. Perhaps I can’t remember something, but would like to, so I say: “Thank you Father, you always hear me.” Then as I walk the earth memory appears out of the nowhere. Perhaps it is a poem, a saying, or an article I have misplaced; but when I turn to Him and in thankfulness request its memory, my Heavenly Father always gives it to me. This I know from experience.366 ¶25

You turn to yourself, and yet you address him as though he were another, because imagination is another until this garment is taken off for the last time. Clothed in this garment of flesh you are limited, but when you take it off for the last time, you and He are one. Night after night Christ withdraws, as it were, and returning, he ariseth upon your weary eyes and you can see. If your human imagination did not return you would have no knowledge of this world. So learn to trust Him implicitly, for He will not fail you. You can attain any goal if you believe that your own wonderful human imagination is the Lord Jesus Christ. Imagine something, accept it in gratitude and watch it come to pass.366 ¶26

May I tell you: you have always been doing it, but your memory is so short you do not recognise your own harvest. If your memory awoke you would see that everything happens because you at one time imagined it, (mostly in fear) and then dropped it. You planted the seeds of the tares and the wheat, the events and circumstances of your world, but have forgotten the planting. So I tell you: you are as free as you want to be if you will believe in Christ. He is not on the outside but in you, as your own wonderful human imagination!366 ¶27

Now let me repeat a thought I said earlier. The habit of worry confesses one’s lack of faith in the sovereignty of God. If you worry, you don’t believe in Christ! He said: “Let not your heart be troubled (worried); you believe in God, believe also in me.” If you really believe this you will not worry, but will believe that He and He alone has ways no one knows of bringing to pass that which you have imagined.366 ¶28

There is no limit placed upon your human imagination save that which you place upon yourself. Your financial, social and intellectual pictures are as limited as you make them. All within you, you and you alone have the ability to enlarge your concept of causality, plant and reap your every desire. Desires are the sheep of your pasture and the shepherd is your own wonderful human imagination. If your desires have gone astray bring them back into the fold where they really belong.366 ¶29

When you go home tonight read the 14th chapter of the Gospel of John. It’s such a glorious chapter. The whole Bible is, really. Just to read every verse so thrills me it becomes alive to me. In this chapter, when they asked him to show them the Father, he said: “I have been with you all these years and yet you do not know the Father? When you see me you have seen the Father, how then can you say, ‘Show me the Father?’” Then he tells us: “I dwell in you and you dwell in me, we are one and I am the Father.” Man can’t quite see it and you can’t blame him for that.366 ¶30

So I still say: the greatest need is for a new thinking of the human imagination. If man sees his own imagination as Christ, then all the so-called problems of the world will dissolve, leaving only harmony. There will be no barriers when one sees his own imagination as Christ.366 ¶31

If tonight you believe your imagination is Christ and you desire to be elsewhere, sleep there in your imagination just as though it were true. Forget the fact that you can’t afford it or do not have the time. “I am” infinity, and all thine are mine and mine are thine. If you really believe in Christ as your own wonderful human imagination, then sleep as the person you want to be. Don’t ask me how it is going to come about, for my ways and means are past finding out!366 ¶32

A man called me three weeks ago, saying: “Many years ago in New York City you told me that if I wanted to go to California all I had to do was assume I was there. Well, my wife and I are here now, but I want you to know that I’m not sold on what you teach. I did what you said, but the reason I came here is because the company I worked for opened a factory and transferred me here.” He didn’t find himself flying through space, but was transferred by his company, so he doesn’t believe that feeling is the secret!366 ¶33

Well, you take your pearls and throw them before the swine of the world and they pick your wisdom up and drop it down, but you throw it just the same. I know you are warned not to do it, but I have never been able to discriminate as to who will take it and who will not, so I tell it to all who will listen.366 ¶34

When our late President Hoover addressed the GOP convention in San Francisco, he said: “The rise and fall of nations could be traced to the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mine of man.” Here is a man who rose from the very bottom. He had no money, put himself through college, yet left millions to his family and various charities. Time will prove that Mr. Hoover was a truly great man. He didn’t cause the depression but tells us that it can be traced to the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of man. He sent me an autographed copy of his address and asked for a copy of my book, Awakened Imagination, which I am quite sure he had in his library at his death. His was a truly great mind, one that saw how things worked.366 ¶35

Men that you and I admire, if they were honest, would admit to implanting in our mind that which would belittle us and ennoble them. Many know what they are doing but they don’t know Christ. If they did, they would know they do not have to belittle us to ennoble themselves. If you want to rise, you don’t have to put another down in order to feel you have risen. Your reality is I AM. Raise your consciousness and you raise yourself, but you haven’t risen when you feel the need to push another down by claiming “I AM better than.”366 ¶36

Tonight take this law and apply it. I promise you it will not fail. When you go to bed dwell in your own wonderful human imagination and say: “Thank you, Father” as though you were addressing another. You know you are thanking your human imagination, but while assuming you have what you want, thank your Father. You came out from the Father and came into the world. Now you are leaving the world and going to the Father. Eventually you will reach him, and when you do he is yourself. There is no other Father. There is no other God!366 ¶37

Now let us go into the silence.366 ¶38

Prophetic Sketches

The stories recorded in the Bible are prophetic sketches of events predestined to take place in the individual you! We are told in the seventh chapter of John: “We know where this man comes from, yet we are told that when the Christ appears no one will know where he comes from.” Speaking of the Father and the higher realm to which he now belongs, Jesus says: “A time will come when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but tell you plainly of the Father.” Trying to convince man of man’s own Fatherhood from which he came and to which he will return, Jesus said: “I came out from the Father and I have come into the world. Again I am leaving the world and returning to the Father.” Now, where does he speak plainly? In the 14th chapter of John, saying: “He who sees me has seen the Father,” and in the 10th chapter of John, when he states: “I and the Father are one.”365 ¶1

Now let us take the first great sketch as recorded in the Book of Genesis (the seed-plot of the Bible). The Book begins: “In the beginning, God” and ends, “…in a coffin in Egypt.” In the 37th chapter it is stated: “Behold this dreamer cometh.” The one placed in the coffin is the dreamer, called Joseph. It is he who dreams that the sun and the moon and eleven stars come down and bow to him. And while gathering the sheaves, he saw his sheaf stand erect while all the others bowed to him. And when the father heard of these dreams, he said: “I and your mother and brothers will bow to you and serve you?” Well, time proved that it was true, for Joseph became the sovereign ruler over all.365 ¶2

This outline, this prophetic sketch, is all about God! “In the beginning God” 9and the first and the last are one). “I am the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega, the first and the last.” In the beginning God laid himself down in a coffin in Egypt. He dreams the dream of life in the coffin of you, for there is nothing in this world but God. Your “I am” is the God of scripture who is buried in the coffin called by your mortal name. Now, Genesis ends on a mute note—a coffin. It’s the overture to the exodus, where God is led out of the coffin in which he was placed, bringing with him the man in whom he is buried. This exodus is accomplished by signs and wonders. The foundation of the entire drama is the resurrection, for you cannot enter the New Age until you are a Son of the resurrection. “This age” is the age of death, while “that age” is the age of the resurrected.365 ¶3

The first sketch is given to us in the 11th chapter of the Book of John. It is the story of Lazarus, which means “God has helped.” Now, Lazarus is only mentioned in the Book of John, yet in the 10th chapter of the Book of Luke his sisters Martha and Mary invite Jesus to be a guest in their home. Now, surely if the story of Lazarus was to be taken on this level, he would have been mentioned in Luke, but his story is a foreshadowing of that which is going to happen in you! Many signs and wonders are incorporated into this story. When told: “He whom you love is ill,” Jesus turned to his disciples and said: “The sickness is not unto death. It is for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified.” Having waited two extra days, he turned to his disciples on the fourth day and said: “Lazarus is dead, but let us go to him.” Then to the sisters he said, “Your brother will rise again.” When Martha said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection at the last day,” Jesus replied: “I am the resurrection.” Then the stone is rolled away and Lazarus is resurrected.365 ¶4

Prior to the resurrection the statement is made: “By this time he stinketh, for he has been dead four days.” Why was this remark included in scripture? Because the evangelist who had the vision was recording his own personal experience. Only when you have had the experience can you see how these events are tied together. And when this first prophetic sketch has been fulfilled in you, the new age has begun.365 ¶5

As I said earlier, we are all buried within the coffin of ourselves; but we don’t know it and will not know it until the last trumpet, on the last day. It is a mystery in which we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound and the dead will be raised, raised into the immortal body to wear immortality, as told us in the 15th chapter of 1 Corinthians. The Mormon Temple has a statue of a man blowing a trumpet, but the word “trumpet” means “reverberation; to vibrate.” And may I tell you, when that day comes upon you, you will know a vibration such as you have never known before. Centered in your head, it comes in the twinkling of an eye, at that last trumpet. This statement implies that there are other vibrations, but this is the final one, for from it you will awaken and rise from the dead from the coffin in which you are buried.365 ¶6

I never once entertained the thought that I was in a coffin, that this skull of mine was a tomb. I looked upon my skull as something very much alive and hoped that it would not be injured, for everything that I knew in this world I had brought forth from this head of mine. Yet, when the vibration possessed me I began to awaken as I have never awakened before, to find myself completely entombed in my skull. I was alone and the tomb was completely sealed. There was no way out except by rolling away the stone, which I did from within, with no help from one on the outside. I knew intuitively that if I pressed, something would roll away from the base of my skull. I did it and came out, inch by inch, just like a child comes out of the mother’s womb. I who had been dead had awakened because of the vibration called the trumpet, awakened to realize who the Christ of scripture really is.365 ¶7

I have told you my story. I have finished the race and now the time for my departure has come. But when I depart, I will send the Holy Spirit, who will bring to your remembrance all that I have told you be reenacting the story of Jesus Christ, in you, casting you in the central role.365 ¶8

Who is Christ Jesus? The very breath of every being in the world. You could not live if Christ was not buried within you. His death turned your life onto a profound sleep. Those in great eternity see this world as a world of the dead, but in the third sketch of the resurrection, Christ awakens in each one of us individually, by the blast of the last trumpet.365 ¶9

In the 27th chapter of the Book of Isaiah we are told: “I will gather you one by one, O people of Israel.” Each one of us is unique in the eyes of God, and each has his place in God’s body; therefore not one can be lost, but everyone will be called individually, in his own time.365 ¶10

When you read scripture don’t take any word for granted. Look it up in the Strong’s Concordance to determine the original meaning. The trumpet spoken of in scripture hasn’t a thing to do with any outside symbolism such as the one atop the Mormon Temple, which depicts a man blowing a trumpet to awaken the world with its sound. One by one, each will hear the trumpet call and enter the body of God, the only church of scripture. The word “church” means: “the assembly of the resurrected; the redeemed.” How can all be gathered into one? The same way that millions of atoms in your brain can be gathered into the human skull. It’s a mystery, the greatest mystery known to external man.365 ¶11

These prophetic sketches are sketches of events which will happen in you. In the 37th chapter of the Book of Genesis, Joseph - the one God loves most and who is the prototype of Christ Jesus - is made a coat of many colors. Entering Egypt, Joseph is sold into slavery and appears in the New Testament in the form of a slave, made in the likeness of man. But no one killed God. Did he not say: “No one takes my life, I lay it down myself. I have the power to lay it down and the power to lift it up again.” No Roman soldiers or Jews ever killed Jesus. The story hasn’t a thing to do with any race of men.365 ¶12

These are prophetic sketches. They are adumbrated, faint outlines omitting all the details, all the figures. They show the individual, when it unfolds in him, how Christ comes the second time. The drama unfolds in each individually, so in the end there is Jesus only. Not Jesus and a bunch of redeemed men. It is God’s power and wisdom (called Christ) in man that is resurrected, so in the end there is nothing but Jesus and his Christ.365 ¶13

When the question is asked: “What think ye of the Christ, whose Son is he?” They replied: “The son of David.” Then he questions: “Why then did David, in the Spirit, call him Lord? If David in the Spirit calls him “Lord,” how can he be David’s son?” Man matures when he becomes our own father’s Father! You see, Christ, God’s power and wisdom, is buried in humanity. And humanity collectively is all the generations of men and their accomplishments. When these are all fused into a single moment of time, humanity is personified as David. And out of humanity (both the whole and individually) comes the Christ, as God’s power (which is God himself) coming from the Davidhood of Man.365 ¶14

In the 7th chapter of 2 Samuel, the prophet said to David: “The Lord declares to you, ‘I will raise up your son after you, who will come forth from your body. I will be his father and he will be my son.’” I didn’t realize I was so sound asleep that I was dead, until the night when I was awakened and came forth from the coffin of myself. The Lord declared through his prophet Samuel that he will be my father, but I did not know it then.365 ¶15

Now we are told: “Do not touch me as I have not yet ascended to the Father.” Even though you are born from above you do not know you are God the Father, and will not know it until David, in the Spirit, calls you “Lord.” Only then will you be touched by the realization of who you really are.365 ¶16

Everyone is destined to discover his Godhood, but we aren’t a bunch of gods running around. The word “God” in the sentence, “In the beginning God” is “elohim.” It is a plural word, a compound unity of one made up of others. Everyone will one day ascend to the Father and encounter David of Biblical fame. And when you look into the eyes of your son, David, your memory will return and you will know you are his father and he will know he is your son.365 ¶17

In the 22nd Psalm, David cries out: “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? The dogs surround me.” When you read that you may think of dogs surrounding a young lad, but the word “dog” in scripture means “the male temple prostitute.” When David appeared to reveal my fatherhood, homosexuals stood nearby looking concupiscently at him. Then I told them the supposedly ancient story of how David brought down the giant Goliath, thereby becoming victorious over death. This 22nd chapter of Psalms is used through the New Testament as messianic, and everyone is going to have the experience recorded there.365 ¶18

Don’t take any word in scripture for granted. Our scholars chose the words that made sense to them or made the sentence more beautifully expressed, but not necessarily the meaning the authors meant to convey. Take the preposition “in” as in the statements, “Scripture must be fulfilled in me” and “When it pleased God to reveal his Son in me.” Some scholars have changed the preposition to read “to” me, but when God’s son is revealed in you, you will confer not with flesh and blood.365 ¶19

To whom could you go? In my own case I haven’t found a priest, a rabbi, a Christian Science teacher, Unity, or minister of any ism who will accept the revelation of David as the son of the Lord Christ Jesus. But if Jesus said: “I am the Father,” then he must have a son, for how can a person be a father without a child? When Phillip said: “Lord, show us the Father,” he was told: “I have been so long with you, Philip, and yet you do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how then can you say ‘Show us the father?’” We call the pope the great father, yet he claims he’s a celibate. Extending his hand, he declares that the one hundred thousand who stand in the square and the five hundred million who watch him on television are his children. What a lot of nonsense.365 ¶20

You have a child, a child who is the embodiment, the quintessence of all humanity. That child is David. To the Hebrew mind history consists of all the generations of men, plus all of their experiences, fused into a single whole. That concentrated time into which all are gathered and fused is called “eternity, a youth, a lad, a stripling.” This is what God has put into the mind of man, yet so that man cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Putting the quintessence of all humanity, its races and nations in man’s mind, when man has experienced them all, they are fused into a youth and personified as David, the one to whom God spoke saying: “Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee.”365 ¶21

Now the statement is made: “We know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes no one will know where he comes from.” Why? Because he comes from within, for that’s where he died. Entering death’s door, the human skull, God lay down in his grave and shares with you His visions of eternity until He awakes. And when He awakes you are God. But you will never know that you are He until His Son reveals you.365 ¶22

Listen carefully to the words in the 20th chapter of the Book of John: “Go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” How will you ascend? By God’s Son calling you Father. When it pleases God to reveal his Son in you, then you are sent. This comes five months after your resurrection. “Do not touch me as I have not yet ascended to the Father.” Here you discover that there are intervals of time between the resurrection and the statement: “I am leaving the world and going to the Father.” For you go to the awareness of being the Father when David calls you Lord. And from that moment on, although you walk in the world as flesh and blood, you are in the world but no longer of it.365 ¶23

These are prophetic sketches which begin in Genesis and end in Revelation. You may ask why it was not made plainer, to which I will quote the words of Blake: “That which can be made explicit to the idiot is not worth my care, and the ancients discovered that what was not too explicit was fittest for instruction because it rouses the faculties to act.” When you were a child you thought as a child, you reasoned as a child, but when you become a Man you give up childish ways. The outer concept of life is for the child mind, but if you are hungry to go beyond the obvious and nothing in this world can satisfy that hunger but an experience of God, you have become a Man and are willing to give up your childish concepts.365 ¶24

I can’t tell you my thrill when I read the letters I am receiving from you who attend, telling of your awakening. We are all that one Father David comes to reveal. It seems strange to be gathered one by one to unite into a single man who is God, but it is true. I tell you, you have but one Father and you are He. Coming out from yourself, you entered the world, now you are leaving the world and returning to yourself.365 ¶25

This you did for a divine purpose. Having reached the limit of contraction by taking upon yourself the limitations of man, there is no limit to expansion. Reaching the limit of opacity by limiting yourself to the physical senses, there is no limit to translucency.365 ¶26

When you break these bonds, you become more expanded, more translucent until you are above the organization of sex. Knowing you are not male or female, you will say: “Forgive them for they know not what they do, for whatever they do I am the cause. My every thought is a vibration, drawing to me that which it is implying.”365 ¶27

This was set up in the beginning. “As a man sows, so shall he reap.” It’s the law of identical harvest, called “seedtime and harvest” in scripture. There will be no change. You plant weal, you reap weal. Plant wheat and wheat will grow, all caused by the human imagination. As you imagine, you vibrate and call forth that which you have imagined.365 ¶28

Your world is forever bearing witness to what you are imagining. You may not recognize your harvest and deny you have ever had such a horrible thought, but no one did it to or for you; you did it yourself. In the beginning you promised that you would take the consequences of your imaginal acts, good, bad or indifferent.365 ¶29

And you can try from now until the end of time to change the outside, but only when you change your way of thinking can you change your world. Give a man something on the outside to support him and you have conditioned his world and he will curse you when you stop it. But show him how to use his imagination to attract what he wants and you have given him the gift of life.365 ¶30

In all of these prophetic sketches, prophetic behaviors are laid out from beginning to end. The life of Jesus is a prophetic blueprint which everyone will experience within himself. Every character spoken of in scripture is within you.365 ¶31

The parable of Lazarus is unique in the sense that the character is named. Other parables begin: There was a judge; a rich man came; a widow, but no name given to the character. In the 16th chapter of the Book of Luke, the story is told of a poor man named Lazarus who, after death, found himself in Abraham’s bosom. A rich man, filled with anguish, could not reach the state of faith. He found a gap between the two ages. This gap remains until God, in his infinite mercy, brings you from this age of sin and death up to that age of the resurrected. So the word “Lazarus” means, “God has helped.”365 ¶32

In this world of sin and death we are awakening one by one to unite into the single Man who is God.365 ¶33

Now let us go into the silence.365 ¶34

Yours For the Taking

There is only one cause for the phenomena of life. That cause is God. Housed in you, God is a person in the most literal sense of the word. Believe me, for I know this from experience. God, the only creator, is pure imagination working in the depth of your soul. God began a good work in you and He will bring it to completion on the day God’s creative power is unveiled in you! God’s creative power and wisdom is defined in scripture as Christ. When Christ unveils himself in you, you will know you are God’s power and God’s wisdom. God, your own wonderful human imagination, underlies all of your faculties, including perception, and streams into your surface mind least disguised in the form of creative, productive fantasy.364 ¶1

When you ask yourself what you can do to transcend your present limitation of life, you are dwelling upon the means. God does not ask you to consider the means, but to define the end. Speaking to you through the medium of desire, God asks the question: “What wantest thou of me?” Then he tells you not to be concerned with the ways and means, for his ways are unsearchable. They are inscrutable and past finding out. This statement you will find in the 11th chapter of the Book of Romans. So don’t be concerned as to how God will fulfill the end, only know that He will. Can you believe your desire is fulfilled? Can you believe it is true? If you can, it is yours for the taking, for nothing is impossible to one who believes.364 ¶2

Now, let me share with you three stories which came to me during the summer. The first letter was from my friend Bennie. In it he told of lying prone on his bed, face down, when he felt as though someone grabbed his shoulders; and as he was lifted up he heard the words: “Take a stand!” Intuitively he knew he had to make the decision now as to whether he was going to believe that imagining creates reality or disbelieve it. Scripture tells us, “He who is not with me is against me.” There is no neutral ground, for “I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. To set a man against his father and a daughter against her mother.” Why? Because a man’s enemies are within him. Everyone must eventually take the stand that imagining creates reality and swim or sink with this concept.364 ¶3

Now, a few days later while in meditation, Bennie felt himself being held from behind by three men. As they raised him, he watched the sun rise and heard the words: “Look! Behold!” and “Recognition!” And he remembered a passage from my book, Your Faith Is Your Fortune: “Recognition of this truth will transform you from one who tries to make it so, into one who recognises it to be so.”364 ¶4

Soon after this, a friend asked Ben to pray for him. He wanted to be the property manager of the company he worked for. Although he had been passed by year after year, Bennie told him what to do, and imagined hearing the friend tell him the job was now his. A few months later the job was vacated and his friend was given the position with an increase in salary and greater responsibility, just as he had imagined.364 ¶5

What did Bennie do? He imagined! To whom did he pray? To his own wonderful human imagination! God, the creator of all life, is like pure imagining in you, underlying all of your faculties – including perception. He streams into your surface mind least disguised in the form of productive fantasy. Bennie took a stand. He prayed for his friend and believed his prayer was answered. He tested himself, and the windows of heaven opened and poured forth blessings for all to see. Now Bennie knows that with God all things are possible.364 ¶6

God is your mightier self. Emptying himself, God took on the form of a slave and is now found in the likeness of man. Abdicating his power, Pure Imagination took upon himself the limitations of flesh, thereby becoming human. It is God who weaves your every desire into cubic reality, waiting upon you effectively and swiftly, regardless of whether your desire is for evil or for good. The one who conjures thoughts in the mind of a Hitler or Stalin is the same power as the one conjuring thoughts in the mind of a pope or the Arch Bishop of Canterbury. There aren’t two Gods. There is only one!364 ¶7

The 14th and 53rd chapters of the Book of Psalms are identical, each telling us: “The fool says in his heart there is no God, but the Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of the many to see if there are any that act wise and seek the Lord.” Here we find that in the eyes of God, wisdom is equated with seeking the Lord. And if God is all-wise and all powerful, then any search other than for the Lord is stupid. You may be the greatest mathematician or scientist, the most intelligent and honored man among men, but if your search is not for God, you are stupid in His eyes. Called upon to look for the cause of creation, what are you doing losing yourself in the phenomena of life? When something happens, search your thoughts and you will discover your own wonderful human imagination to be the cause of your experience, because God is a person.364 ¶8

At the present time He is wearing a mask called Neville, but the one speaking to you now knows himself to be the Ancient of Days. Every being in the world is a mask worn by God; for housed in man, is man’s imagination. A thought acted upon is an imaginal act. Think (imagine) a horrible earthquake and God will give it to you. Imagine (think of) a war and God will provide that, too. Imagine peace and you will have it. God will give you health if you will but imagine being healthy. Imagine success and you will have it. The moment you think, you are feeding your imagination, which is a person. I use the word person deliberately, for you are a person. You are the mask God is now wearing, for God became you that you may become God.364 ¶9

Now let me share another letter with you. Last year this lady, living about sixty miles north of San Francisco, was possessed with the desire to come to Los Angeles and attend my lecture. Leaving word at her office, she drove her car to the San Francisco airport, where she took a plane to Los Angeles. There she was met by a friend and immediately came to the lecture. After the lecture she joined a group of four women and one man for coffee, where she expressed her hunger, having missed lunch and dinner that day. The gentleman sitting beside her then said, “I’d like to buy you a steak.” And as she looked into his face she heard a voice within her say, “This is your husband.”364 ¶10

Now, this lady has been married and divorced four times, so she had specific desires for a husband which she felt must be fulfilled. She wanted to be happily married to a man who lived by this truth. She wanted him to love and respect her as well as her seventeen-year-old son. Having imagined such a man in September, she attended my meeting in October, and married the gentleman she met here the following January.364 ¶11

The gentleman added his story to her letter, saying: “Having played with the idea of being married, I went to a pawn shop last September and purchased a plain gold band which I placed on the third finger of my left hand. Every day I wore the ring and every night I slept in the feeling of being happily married.” (My friend thought he could not get the feeling of being married without a physical aid, but you don’t need anything outside of your imagination to catch the mood.)364 ¶12

Having been an alcoholic, this gentleman imagined his wife never mentioned his past; for although he had not tasted alcohol for nine years, he had paid the price in his search for God. You see, the alcoholic is searching for truth. Thirsty, he finds a false spirit in the form of alcohol, while those who will not touch it – and criticise those who do – haven’t even started their search. But I have news for them. One day they, too, will know a hunger which will not be satisfied by bread. They will know a thirst so great they will make the mistake of clothing it in the form of a bottle. But because it will be a false thirst, the thirst will remain. Then they will discover the true hunger and the true thirst, which is for the hearing of the word of God.364 ¶13

Now, in the third letter a gentleman writes: “Having borrowed from the bank, every month when I sent in my payment I reduced the total amount in my record book. One day, as I was writing my check and recording its payment, I closed my eyes and saw two zeros under the balance due column. Then I gave a sigh of relief because the note was paid. For the next thee months I persisted in seeing those double zeros and rejoicing in being debt-free. Then came an unexpected surprise! Our company paid us all a mid-year bonus which was so large I was able to pay all of my bills, including the bank loan, and deposit the rest in the bank.”364 ¶14

Now I think this gentleman and I must be two peas in the same pod, because money seems to burn in his pocket, too. Instead of keeping the money in the bank as the rational mind would do, my friend began to think about how to spend it, so of course he found a way. He bought a tape recorder to bring and record my message!364 ¶15

To whom did my friend turn when he wanted the bank loan paid? He turned to God! He did not get down on his knees and ask some outside God to do it for him. He didn’t go to church and consult a priest, rabbi or minister. He didn’t contact a so-called truth teacher, but simply closed his eyes to the obvious and saw two zeros in the balance due column. Then for the first time in the history of his company a mid-year bonus was paid. This happened to him because of his use of the law, and his knowledge of who God is.364 ¶16

Not everyone who seeks God finds him, but there are those – like Philip – that when they find him, they bring their brother Nathanael. Andrew found Jesus and brought Peter. You, too, will find Jesus when you exercise your imagination, and bring those you love to his awareness. If great wealth befell you, would not your wife (or husband), your children, as well as those in your immediate circle benefit from your good fortune? And if it befell them, would it not befall you? So we benefit each other as we search out God and test him.364 ¶17

Revelation tells us to be either hot or cold, but never to be lukewarm. If you do not believe me to the point of testing the law, you are lukewarm. But one day, like Ben, you will take a stand. You will either be for me or against me. You will try to believe that imagining creates reality, or reject it. You will be hot or cold about it, and that is better than being lukewarm.364 ¶18

I have discovered that those who hated me at first when I took from them their idols, the icon in their mind called Jesus, have become my finest students. So many people claim they believe in Jesus, but cannot define him. Unable to place him in time and space, they are defiant when I say: “Christ in you is your hope of glory.” Full of insults, they are cold. Some have even been violent. But one day they will find him of whom Moses and the prophets wrote, turn around, and be embraced by the Lord.364 ¶19

I started telling this story in the 1930’s and here we are in the 1960’s. During these thirty-odd years I have found those who really opposed me – those who were so moved and disturbed they were determined to disprove my words. But since they couldn’t do it, they too have found God to be their own wonderful human imagination.364 ¶20

The Bible is addressed only to the human imagination. In Blake’s famous letter to the Rev. Dr. Trusler he makes this comment: “Why is the Bible more entertaining and instructive than any other book? Is it not because it is addressed to the imagination, which is spiritual sensation, and only immediately to the understanding, or reason?” The Bible is imaginative instruction. When it unfolds in you it is more real than anything here, yet it is all imagined, for God is all imagination and so is man. The eternal body of man is the imagination, and that is God Himself. There is nothing but this one body called Jesus, who is the Lord God Jehovah.364 ¶21

I tell you, God became as we are that we may become as He is. No one took God’s life. He laid it down himself saying: “I have the power to lay it down and the power to lift it up again.” The fall into fragmented space was deliberate. And He who fell has the power to gather us all together, one by one, into that single body who is all love.364 ¶22

His body is above the organisation of sex. In it there is no Greek, no Jew, no bond, no free, no male, no female. When you wear it you understand Paul’s statement: “I consider the sufferings of this present time not worth comparing to the glory that has been revealed in me.” In that body you know yourself to be the real Man, and this fleshly body as nothing. You will realise that you were never male or female, but have always been God.364 ¶23

Remember, everything is yours for the taking. If you want it, take it. If you cannot claim it for yourself, ask a friend for help. If you want to be happily married, do what my friends did. You want to pay off all of your debts? Whatever you desire is yours. All you have to do is imagine you have it, for everything in life is yours for the taking!364 ¶24

Now let us go into the silence.364 ¶25

Imagining Creates Reality

Tonight’s subject is “Imagining Creates Reality” and I mean this literally. We’re told that God is the only Creator, so if I make the claim that imagining creates reality, I am identifying God with man’s own wonderful human Imagination. “God the Creator is like pure imagining in ourselves. He works in the very depths of our soul, underlying all of our faculties, including perception, but he streams into our surface mind least disguised in the form of creative fancy” . That is a day dream. We can catch him in the act of creating…yet it is my very self, for I am imagining. And if what I’m imagining I do not forget and then as time goes on it comes to pass in my world, then I have found him. I have found the source of creation in my world. I have found the one who creates. So tonight this is my subject, imagining creates reality, and because God is the only Creator if I can imagine a state and bring it to pass, then I have found him. Now remember his name is I AM, forever and forever . So I’m imagining…well, who is?—I am. Well, that’s he, that’s God. Don’t forget it so that I may discover who he is. If I imagine and then go my way and forget what I did, I may not recognize my own harvest when I reap it in my world. It may be good, bad or indifferent, but when I reap it, forgetting how I did it, I haven’t found him. So this is tonight’s story.362 ¶1

You don’t have to be rich to travel, but you must be imaginative to travel. You could have all of the wealth of the world and remain in a little hut, afraid of tomorrow’s need, and have nothing but a vivid wonderful Imagination and travel the world over. Not just in what the world would say “your imagination,” but objectively as the world will call it reality. For all things exist in your own wonderful human Imagination.362 ¶2

Now let me tell you a story that I know quite well. The lady is my age, approximately my age, maybe a few years one way or the other. This happened when she was sixteen. She lived in northern California. She was devoted to her father, and he lived high, wide and handsome. No member of the family including his wife knew anything concerning his income. He just supplied all of their needs and supplied it well. Then he was killed. I did not press her to tell me how he was killed, but he was killed. She was sixteen. Overnight they discovered they had nothing. And the mother said, “I could not stand the environment laughing at us, ridiculing us, so let us move to San Diego.” With the little that they had they moved to San Diego.362 ¶3

This girl, who is today a truly great artist, she had no…outside of her artistic talents she didn’t know what she could do to earn a dollar outside of waiting on tables. So she got a job as a waitress. And it’s now Christmas Eve. She’s riding home on an open streetcar, it’s raining. The car is loaded with lovely boys and girls going home for Christmas with their last minute purchases, and they’re singing and having the most marvelous time. And she cannot restrain the tears. Luckily for her it’s raining, so she sticks her face into the heavens and mingles the rain with her tears. And the salt of her tears she tasted.362 ¶4

Then instantly she said to herself and this is what she did. She transformed the entire scene. While holding the rail at the back of the open car, which is simply a conveyance, she said, “This is not a streetcar, this is a ship and I am not tasting my tears I am tasting the salt of the sea and the wind.” She rode home actually living in a certain mental state that she was on a ship moving into Samoa. She rode the entire journey holding that rail as though the rail were the rail of a ship, and the salt of the sea was driven inward to her face by the wind. And at the very end, she was coming…she felt it was a moonlight night, and she heard someone say to her, “Isn’t it a heavenly night! We’re coming into the bay, [Manono?] Bay.” And then the car came to the end.362 ¶5

Two weeks later she received a letter from Chicago from a law firm. They enclosed a check for $3,000 and said that her aunt, before she left for Switzerland two years ago, had deposited with them a certain sum of money with instructions that should she not return or should she die in the interval that $3,000 must be paid to this niece of hers. Within one month she was on a ship sailing for Samoa, and coming into the bay she saw this wonderful ship plowing through the waves, like a lady with a bone in her mouth. You know the nautical term…a ship plowing through the waves and that lovely white foam that it makes, they speak of it as a bone in the lady’s mouth. There she was drinking in the entire scene when an officer on deck said to her, “Isn’t this a heavenly night,” exactly as she had visualized it, and used her inner senses to make it real.362 ¶6

Now, Imagination, I said, creates reality. Imagination is spiritual sensation. By that I mean that she took her five senses—sight, sound scent, taste and touch—and transformed this car into a ship in the South Pacific, and within one month she had realized it.362 ¶7

Now others would say, “Well, that’s just coincidence.” May I tell you, I could repeat it thousands of times. It is not coincidence; this is reality, but man will not believe it. Man will not believe that God became man that man may become God. He will not believe that God and man are one. “That man is all Imagination, and God is man and exists in us, and we in him. The eternal body of man is the Imagination and that is God himself” . There is no other God.362 ¶8

In the end, we will come out as an awakened being, an awakened Imagination, where all things are subject to us for we know who we are.362 ¶9

If imagining creates reality, it doesn’t really matter what the present moment displays. It could only be the out-picturing of a certain imaginal act. Well, I will arrest that imaginal act and change it within myself. Well, how do I change it? Does scripture suggest it? Yes, in the 18th chapter of the Book of Jeremiah: “‘Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and I will let you hear my words.’ So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. The image in this hand was misshapen, but he reworked it into another image, as it seemed good to him to do” .362 ¶10

Now, the word translated “potter” means “Imagination.” In the 64th chapter of Isaiah we are told that the Lord is not only my Father, he is the potter and I am the clay in his hand. He is the potter.362 ¶11

Now, I stand here and I begin to think of the day, and I think, ‘Well now, I got a number of letters today and this is what they said’…so I am now thinking over what they said. Or, suppose I was in business, and the boss said to me, “You know, you’re not doing as you ought to do” and I’m dwelling upon what he said. I am forming an image of myself based upon what he said. That’s not the image I want, that is something that is misshapen. I’m not going to discard myself because he said that of me; I’ll take the same thing and reshape it, as it seemed good to me to do. So he said this, that or the other, I will not accept that. I will reshape myself into the image that I wish he had described me; described me in this manner rather than the way he described me this day. So I will simply now reshape myself in this image.362 ¶12

Will it work? Yes, try it! For the God of the universe is your own wonderful human Imagination, shaping you morning, noon and night.362 ¶13

Well, you are accepting this, that or the other from a seeming without. No, do it from within. What do you want the world to see you, how do you want them to see you? How would you like them to describe you? Well now, describe yourself in that manner, as though the world actually saw you in that light…and believe it. Walk in the assumption that this thing is true. And may I tell you, no power in the universe can thwart it, because no power can thwart God, and God is your own wonderful human Imagination. So I tell you, imagining does create reality. Don’t let anyone in the world tell you that you are something apart. You can’t divide God. His name is I AM. Try to divide it. You can’t divide it. God is one. “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one” , not two. Well, if he’s one and his name is I AM, well, that’s God. Let me now, without looking at the outside world, define myself as I would like to be in this world, and live it as I would like to live it in this world. Well now, let me define it. Let me believe it without waiting for the evidence of my senses to confirm it. They will deny it at the moment of my attempt to define myself in this light…they’ll deny it. But just like this lady, sixteen years old, no money, weeping, and she transformed it. Being an artist, she simply lost herself in this state.362 ¶14

Now, you may say, “But she did have an aunt who left $3,000”—your reasoning mind comes in—“and then the aunt had the presence of mind to die, and therefore she got the $3,000; and being young she simply took off without considering the future, and had this heavenly time in the South Pacific.”362 ¶15

That’s what reason will tell us. But I tell you, that’s how this law works. It never fails…if you will go all out and live in it. Your own wonderful human Imagination is God, and there is nothing but God. And because God cannot die— he’s the God of the living—when this little garment comes to its end, regardless of how it comes to its end, you the living being cannot die. You survive anything that happens to you in this world; but you will still be in a world just like this until you reach the end when you awake from the dream of life. When you awake from the dream of life, then you are an entirely different…you’re in an entirely different age, and you realize the oneness of being who you really are. Until then, believe what I am telling you. It is true and it will never fail you.362 ¶16

A few weeks ago, a friend of ours (who is here tonight) told us and I told you the story, he took his barber from the low man on a totem pole—he was fourth in the barbershop—and when he discovered while sitting in his chair that he did like to barber and he was not ashamed of it, he loved it, he said, “Alright, you really love it, I’ll take you up.” In his mind’s eye he saw him at the very top of his profession. In the not distant future he bought out the store, replaced the owner, he became owner and the number one, and changed and rearranged the other three. A few weeks ago in San Francisco my friend imagined that he had won a prize. He not only won the first, he won a second, and two of the three barbers who worked for him won second. They came back from San Francisco with four prizes out of nine that were given for the State. He learned that there was another test coming up for barbers for the eleven Western States, and he imagined that he saw the trophy on the wall that he would get. Didn’t burst a blood vessel to make it so, he just saw in his mind’s eye the trophy there, implying this barber won the first prize in the eleven Western States. A week ago last Saturday, when he had his hair cut, he walked in to find a seven-foot trophy, and the man told him he also received $1,000 plus the trophy. He won the contest held at the Biltmore of the eleven Western States in cutting the hair of men. He took him from the low man on the totem pole to this state.362 ¶17

No wonder he wrote me the story of that long procession of people he’s healing one after the other. And the healing was not all physical…in fact the minority were physical healings.362 ¶18

I’m telling him right now, you’re blessed, blessed beyond measure that you can do this for the seeming other. It’s not another, it’s yourself. And you will go to the very top by continuing to use your imaginative power for the seeming other. There is no other. Hear what they need, what they would like, and then you simply, in your own wonderful way as you’re trained, do it and let it take place in your world. For every one that comes to pass, you go up, oh, beyond measure. Without asking anything for self, you go beyond and beyond and beyond in this world. This is how this law works.362 ¶19

You don’t have to sit down and burst a blood vessel for oneself, because the whole vast world is yourself pushed out. What do you want? You do? Well now, I will hear it for you. Don’t ask beyond that moment. I will hear it for you and then go.362 ¶20

A friend of mine, who is here tonight, told me Saturday night, he said, “Neville, you may tell this story from the platform.” I had hesitated to tell it until I got his permission. I was in Barbados when this thing happened in New York City. His mother pleaded with him to come to New York City because of a tragedy in the family and he figured, “If only I could find Neville.” This is before he had the birth. He wouldn’t do it today, because he has been born from above, and he’s found David, the Son of God who called him Father. But this was before the birth. “If only I could find Neville, I know that I would ask it of him and I would listen to whatever he said.” The mother called him back and said, “You’ve got to come.” Well, the problem was, the brother who was a tender, undoubtedly, a tender loving gentle fellow…I’d trust him implicitly. As I said to him Saturday night, “I think your mother must be a darling. Really, she must be a sweetheart from all that you’ve told me.” “But we are a family and when something happens we all pull together to protect any injured member of that family.” What happened to his brother to cause the violence for one moment doesn’t really matter, but in that moment of violence he killed a man. Well, we need not go into detail, he killed a man…didn’t deny it. And then the mother called and said, “You must come.” He said, “I know, but Neville is in Barbados so they say.” “But I had a dream…it was more than a dream, it was a vision. A woman said to me in my vision, ‘If you find Neville, he will give you the rainbow in the sky…if you find him.’ So I knew I had to find you, so I thought I’ll take a chance and call you.”362 ¶21

He called me when we just got into the house back from Barbados, before he was taking off for New York City, and when he told me the story I said, “Forget it! It’s done!” God is infinite mercy…nothing but forgiveness of sin…I don’t care what a man does. When the Spirit of Christ is formed in you, you forgive everything in this world. There’s nothing you don’t forgive, I don’t care what it is. The most horrible thing in the world you forgive it. He hardened Pharaoh’s heart not to let his people go. How can you condemn Pharaoh? That is the story. And so I said, “It’s done!” and he and I over the phone heard each other, his request and my bold assertion, “I have heard it, it’s done!”362 ¶22

Well, this past two weeks the mother called to say he has been set free. I did not ask him Saturday night…I will never ask him why he did it, how he did it. It makes no difference to me whatsoever.362 ¶23

For I’m going to tell you, not one of us in this world when we reach the end can say we have not killed someone. You play every part in this world, but every part. No one escapes playing that part so that in the end you will forgive all because you’ve done it yourself. When memory returns at the end of the journey, you have played every part in the world. You’ve been a thief, a murderer, everything that you can think of, and there is not one little thing that man could ever do that isn’t recorded in scripture. To fulfill scripture you had to play all the parts. Had I not played everything in scripture I could not have been born from above. Had he who so loves his brother and couldn’t understand how his brother could ever have done it, I will tell him, he did the same thing. We’ve all done it. We have murdered, we have stolen, we have done everything in this world that today the world condemns. And when we reach the end of the journey and the Spirit of Christ is formed within us, which is continual forgiveness of sin, we see no one that we can condemn. It’s one of those things. You don’t have to go out and try to publicize it to get an office in this world, to say “I’m against war.” No, that’s not it at all. They are still capable of murder, those who are saying it. That’s not it. You’ve done it, and having done it, it’s not that you’re indifferent to it, but the whole vast world is a play, and God is playing all the parts. So you realize who you really are: The author of the whole play and you’re playing every part in the world.362 ¶24

But tonight, we want to be right down here on this level. Take everyone here…you don’t have to abide by anything that is now taking place that you dislike. What you now dislike is the vessel in your hand that is not properly shaped. So, “I went down to the potter’s house and there he was working at his wheel. The vessel in his hand was spoiled, but he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to him to do.” You don’t only rework your own concept of yourself into a new concept, but you rework everyone in your world into a new concept. This one can’t get a job, this one doesn’t make enough to pay expenses in this world well. These are concepts that are not right. You take every one and you rework it in your mind’s eye.362 ¶25

Now you don’t break any blood vessel to make it so, you simply do it in your mind’s eye and you actually feel what it is to having witnessed it or having heard it in some way. For an idea that is only an idea doesn’t do anything, it produces nothing. It must produce in you motor elements, it must.362 ¶26

I must in some way act within myself when I entertain an idea. So you call me up or write me and you make a request. I can’t read the letter and then drop it. If I’m going to do something, I must act upon it. The idea that I act upon must produce in me a motor element. The motor element may be picking up the telephone receiver in my Imagination and hearing your voice and you tell me “Thank you. I have it! It’s all done.” Or it could be picking up another letter where now in the next letter you tell me that you have it. Or it could be meeting you in the flesh and embracing you and you tell me that you have it. I will not know what I will do, but I will do something that is a motor…it’s a motion within me. And this takes the idea from just being an idea into a creative state.362 ¶27

And it never fails, may I tell you. It will not fail you. A plain idea, just an idea doesn’t work. It must produce in me or in you or in anyone who would bring it to pass that motor element.362 ¶28

The very first creative act as recorded in scripture, “And the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters” . It’s motion. I stand here and I would like to be elsewhere. Well now, I close my eyes to the obvious and then I see the world as I would see it if I were elsewhere. That’s motion. Yet I open my eyes and I am still here. But I went and prepared the place…that is motion. That’s psychological motion.362 ¶29

So I stand here and I desire something which if it came to pass would find me elsewhere spatially. Well now, I close my eyes to the obvious, I assume that I am there, and make there here…therefore, here vanishes. This room vanishes as I make that place here. Then I look at the world and see it as it is related to the new position that I am now occupying. I feel the reality of this state…so I’ve moved. I move from where I am now to where I want to be. This is creativity.362 ¶30

Now, it doesn’t make sense…but man hasn’t tried it. That’s why Douglas Fawcett said, “The secret of imagining is the greatest of all problems to the solution of which every mystic aspires. For supreme power, supreme wisdom, and supreme delight lie in the solution of this far off mystery.”362 ¶31

How to completely control this mystery, to unravel it? You mean it is all in me? Yes, in my own wonderful human Imagination. How to move from here to the ends of the earth, well, all I have to do is imagine that I am at that point in space. How will I know that I am actually there?—then mentally look at the world. Look at the world mentally. If you assume that you are elsewhere, then look at the world and see the world as it’s related to that position in space that you are assuming that you have occupied.362 ¶32

Mr. Hoover made the statement at the convention in San Francisco when he addressed the GOP, I think the year was 1958, no, 1960. I know because he sent me a copy of his address and requested a copy of my book Awakened Imagination. Now, when that came out I do not know, but that was what he requested. He sent me his autographed message. This is what he said, “Human history with its many forms of government, its revolutions, its wars, in fact, the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the minds of men.”362 ¶33

Now, here is our late President Herbert Hoover. If the change of government is but the result of the change of ideas implanted in the minds of men, can you see what we are doing today in planting the horrors of the world? We go home and turn on TV or radio or read the morning paper, and no headline would be a headline unless it scared you. It has to scare you in order to really attract your attention. If tomorrow morning you saw a headline and some prominent person is dead or murdered, that’s better, you buy the paper. But see a headline, ‘Things are alright now,’ you go blindly on…means nothing. Read some scandal of some prominent person, you stop and you buy the paper. Now that’s our entire system.362 ¶34

Well, the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the minds of men. Now that is true! That is scripture. He wrote it in his own marvelous way. It’s all recorded, for all his words are recorded, and they are on record. If I really want this country to survive and go beyond what it is now, I should be very careful what ideas I’m implanting in the minds of our citizens. And when we allow everything…and we have to allow it…but we encourage it. Allow it but don’t encourage the horrors in order to sell a paper, or to sell toothpaste, or something else.362 ¶35

For the entire thing is imagining creates reality, believe it or not, it’s true. And if we want to live in this wonderful land of ours and go to the very top and enjoy it fully, well then, when you meet someone, no matter what he tells you, put a new idea in its place. Just [...] the negative, and just put something that is lovely in its place, just put it aside. If you have time then show him why you’re doing it, and tell him why you’re doing it. If he cannot believe you, without his consent, without his knowledge, when you are alone, think of him, and imagine he is telling you what you would like him to tell you. It’s your privilege, because you want a world that is not disturbed by his strange, stupid negative states. And so, he will not believe it, and when it happens to him in the world as something lovely, he will never know that you were the source of the lovely things that happen to him. You know it, but you need not crow. Leave him alone. He’ll go through not knowing the harvest that he’s reaping. “For I send you to reap whereon you did not sow.” But I send these out to sow…and when you know it, no matter what they do, you do the lovely thing. If you do not falter, these lovely things will come into harvest in your world, and we will all reap the benefits. Believe it!362 ¶36

Here is a child of sixteen. Now she never heard me. I did not meet this lady Dora, Dora [...] until 1945 in San Francisco. This happened many, many years before, so she was not influenced by anything I said. She simply, to get away from it all, did this. And here, the salt tears are coming down and she simply began to transform them into the salt of the sea brought to her by the wind. Then the little rail, she transformed that into a rail of a ship. Then everything about it she made real, and then came the $3,000 check. In those days it would be worth today’s $6,000. She simply went off to her Samoa, and had the most heavenly time for quite a long while. But she never forgot that she in this moment of despair imagined a state. And it worked that way.362 ¶37

So I’m asking everyone here to try it. Don’t pray to any God on the outside because he isn’t there at all. Turn to no object in space as God…there is no God on the outside. The God is invisible. When you say “I am,” you think of the face that you’re wearing, and you say, “Well, I am John, I am Mary, I am Jan, I am this”—that’s only a mask. But you’ll know who you really are when God’s only begotten Son David stands before you and calls you Father. He looks into this perfect being that you really are and calls you Father…then you know who you are. He doesn’t call you Neville or John or Peter or Jan or Mary…calls you Father. You are the invisible God, and he is the express image of the invisible God. So he’s being formed…he’s already formed, and when, in you, you reach the end of the journey, he explodes, or you explode and he stands before you and here is David of biblical fame. He looks right into your face and you’ve never known such love, such affection…just something that you can’t describe in words. You love people here, yes, you certainly do. But when you look at David you can’t describe your love and your devotion to this David, and his love for you. He sees you as this eternal Father, he calls you Father, and then the journey is at an end.362 ¶38

In the meanwhile, you’ll tell it to everyone who will listen to you, and so that you set everyone free in the world.362 ¶39

Are you unemployed? Alright, tell me that you are gainfully employed beyond what you thought you could ever earn. Just tell me mentally. You are now not well? Well now, you tell me mentally that you never felt better. And you are lonely? Tell me you’ve never known such company, and such affection, and such devotion. And you tell me, and then having heard it all you walk as though you heard it. So this subjective appropriation of your objective hope for this, that or the other…and you walk never turning back, never questioning the reality of what you’ve done, and it all comes to pass.362 ¶40

Then you have found him! “I have found him of whom Moses and the law and the prophets wrote.” Who?—Jesus of Nazareth. Well, who is he? He is the Lord. He is God the Father. I have found him. I have found the source of the phenomena of life: That what I did not know in the past and all these things were happening to me, it was caused by the same source. There is only one source. There aren’t two Gods, only one. But I didn’t know there was only one…I thought there was God and some strange thing in the distance.362 ¶41

Now a lady wrote me this, she said, “I had the strangest vision, the most horrible, horrible experience. Here this being said to me in the most, well, I would not even use the word.” She said, “I’m ashamed even to put it in print to you. You’ve never known such a curse in your life…and the word was named on your head. Well, I could hardly believe that someone could so curse me. And I said, ‘Why?’ The same being replied, ‘Because I want you!’” Now she says, “I could hardly believe that someone could so want me. I can accept that they want me, yes, but want me and still could curse me to that extent. The thought that came to me after the whole thing was over is the word ‘because.’ I can understand them wanting me. Their curse, which to me is beyond measure, the curse was horrible, but why ‘because I want you’?”362 ¶42

I’ll tell you why. When you go home you read the 3rd chapter, the 10th through the 14th verses of Galatians. Let me summarize Galatians for you.362 ¶43

Galatians…and Paul is now speaking for you and for everyone who has arrived at the point where you have. Paul is stating for everyone who arrives at that point of complete rejection of all authorities, institutions, customs and laws that would interfere with the direct contact of the individual with his God…and when one cannot…may I tell you, I know it from experience. For in my visions churches, organized churches, organized societies, organized politics, they are all personified. Everything is human in eternity—rivers, mountains, cities—everything is human; for God is man. “Thou art a man, God is no more. Thine own humanity learn to adore” . So everything, even this building, is personified, and it has…it’s a person when you meet it in the spirit world, what it represents.362 ¶44

If it represents greed of the ladies who operate here, you will see in it that person. If you try to detach yourself from it, it will curse you, for they want to feed on you. And so, you got out of institutions, religious institutions, organizations, customs and laws that would interfere with you, the individual, with your wonderful direct approach to your God, and it lost you so it cursed you. It has no power whatsoever, none whatsoever. Leave it alone. You do not fight with these shadows.362 ¶45

I encounter them all the time. When I first saw this horrible monstrous thing…talk about the witches in Macbeth, why they’re like little children compared to this monster that I first encountered in the cave, teaching the little children the black arts, the arts of hurting, of murder, of everything. As I stood at the opening of that cave and she screamed…the screech in her voice didn’t affect me at all. She said, “O man of God, what have you to do with me?” Always the same story of the Bible. These spirits, they’re only personifications of organizations, and there are those who teach the black arts, those who teach how to hurt people, those who would control your mind and make you feel dependent upon them to contact God. And God is within you; he’s not without.362 ¶46

So my dear, you are blessed when you heard the curse. They are helpless to do anything to you, completely helpless. But when you see them you don’t realize that they only are personifications of institutions, of organizations, of customs and of laws. So you need not tell me the actual word. You’ve told me in the way you tried to without putting it down on paper. But I know from my own experience how this works and they are perfectly helpless; because I move through these worlds night after night on my Father’s work. And not one can touch you. You have completely rejected any interference between you and God…you need no intermediary. For you were raised in a very orthodox religious group, and they would enslave you for the rest of eternity if they could. But man leaves it, one by one. We all leave it one by one. And they will curse, but their curse means nothing, it means absolutely nothing.362 ¶47

Now to come back to tonight’s theme, imagining creates reality. You could imagine…what are you imagining? To say to me, “Well, I imagined it and it hasn’t worked,” I will say to you, “Then what are you now imagining?” Have you forgotten that you are John Brown? You were not born knowing that you are John Brown. You were born, and suddenly you began to be called John. Then you began to assume that you are John when they told you that you are John Brown, so when you heard the name John you responded. No matter where you were in the world you responded. Now you say, “I am secure, I am wanted.” Have you forgotten it? Have you worn it long enough to know that you are? If you say, “I once imagined it, what are you doing saying I once imagined it and not now still imagining it? So I imagined it so to be, I am still imagining it so to be, I will continue to imagine that it is until that which I am imagining is out-pictured in my world. And that’s how we operate this law.”362 ¶48

In the end you will awaken and you are God.362 ¶49

Now let us go into the Silence.362 ¶50

* * * Now are there any questions? Well, if there aren’t any…Good night.362 ¶51

Going Up to Jerusalem

First of all, I want to thank you for your tremendous help in sharing with me your experiences that I, in turn, could share them with the others. I can’t tell you what a thrill it has been to receive your letters, your visions, your dreams and your personal experiences concerning the application of this principle. It has made it a perfectly wonderful series. This is our last week…we’re closing on Friday…and if it be God’s will, I’ll be back in September. So here, we have tonight and Friday. So tonight is a very important night in a very wonderful section of this world, where certain questions are asked. Why does this night differ? What makes it different from all other nights? And then, of course, the answer: the deliverance of Israel from Egypt. Now, tonight we’re going to take this in a different aspect.360 ¶1

Jerusalem is such an important part of scripture. As we are told, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written of the Son of man by the prophets will be accomplished” . We always go up to Jerusalem and we come down from Jerusalem. It’s always going up and coming down from Jerusalem. Now, what is Jerusalem? Is it a place where tonight many believe that it is where at Easter as many Christians as could get there, as many Jews and Arabs—for to them it’s a holy spot—is it really there? Well, the word Jerusalem means by definition “the true pointing.” It’s definitive; not a pointing, the true pointing. It means “to point and to aim as if by the finger; to throw a sword” but you throw it with an aim. There must be a mark. It also means “to teach,” but it must be true teaching. It means “to instruct, to inform,” but it must be the true information. For all things happen in Jerusalem.360 ¶2

Now, you say to me, “Do you know the way?” I tell you “Yes, I think I know the way.” And then you ask me, “Tell me what is the way to health?” Another one would ask me. “What is the way to wealth? What is the way to fame?” Can I tell you? If I can’t tell you, I do not know the way to Jerusalem. If I can tell you and you believe me so that you arrive there—and the last part of the word Jerusalem is shalom which means peace, I am peaceful there, I am satisfied—if you tell me the truth and I follow your way and I arrive there, I’ll find peace, I’ll find satisfaction. If you really know the way, and telling me the way I believe it to the point of applying it, if I dare to go the way you point and I arrive there, well then, you do know the way.360 ¶3

Could you tell me the way to health? Yes. I’m not going to give you the means, it’s always the end. If I’m going to throw a sword and throw it, I would aim only at my target. I’m not going to consider any other thing, only the objective, the end. Now you asked me to show you the way and you named the end. You said health. Well, were I you, this is what I would do. Those who now pity me because I am not well, I would bring them before my mind’s eye and have them with an expression on their faces expressing bewilderment at my recovery. If I didn’t want just them, I wanted a doctor…maybe I want some doctor to say it…and so he said, “You know, I do not know what you’ve done but if what I thought you had you had, I can only say a miracle has taken place because there’s a complete recovery.” So if I hear that from him in this world and he bears witness to all that I’m seeing in my mind’s eye, well then, I know the way to that state of peace called Jerusalem.360 ¶4

I take it now in every aspect of life. Not just for oneself, you take everyone if they will simply listen to you as you tell them you know the way to Jerusalem. I’ll take you then into other angles. You mean you’ll take me to any angle? Any angle, I don’t care what it is. You want to be famous? Well, what would you be like were you famous? There…people see you who have known you, and they know you as one who is not, well then, would they still know you tomorrow? Yes. Maybe you would not walk in their world. Maybe you’d be so far apart socially and financially that they would not even recognize you, but they would know of you. Well then, let them know of you if really you want to be famous…if that’s really your aim in life. You can take everything, and then that is really going to Jerusalem.360 ¶5

Now take “Let us go up to Jerusalem, and everything written of the Son of man by the prophets will be accomplished.” Well, what is written about him? He awakens as God, that’s written about him. Well, let us take a few points long the way. We’re told—and this I tell you to comfort you— if anyone ever tells you that you have to earn salvation, turn the other way. They do not know Jerusalem. You cannot earn salvation; salvation is a gift. Because it’s a gift everyone is going to get it. No one will fail, because you can’t fail.360 ¶6

Now listen to the words from the 3rd chapter of Titus , he’s telling us now that he has given us salvation, not because of our deeds in righteousness but in virtue of his merciful act. In virtue of his own merciful act, not because of anything I did by any means. Now he tells us how it was done, how he did it: By washing of regeneration, “by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit” . Now you read that and you say, what does it mean, washing of the regeneration? Well, the word washing in the Concordance simply means “a basin for bathing, a vessel for bathing.” People not understanding this, they have these physical things in the different religious movements, where you go in, you get a little baptism. Hasn’t a thing to do with that. Well, alright, if it satisfies them, let them have it. It’s a vessel or a basin for bathing. Regeneration simply means “the new man; the reborn man.” Well, how is he baptized? How is he washed?360 ¶7

Now we go to Revelation, the 7th of Revelation, and a question is asked by the elder, asked of John who is having the vision, and he said to John, “Who are these dressed in white, these shining garments of what?” and John said, “Sir, you know.” And the elder tells John: These are they who came out of the great tribulation; and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. And then their eyes were dried of all tears, they shall never hunger again, never thirst again, and always forever protected by the presence of the Lord. And there they serve him day and night, always under his protection, and never to weep again . But they came out of the great tribulation.360 ¶8

You hear it said that these are the martyrs of the world, don’t believe it. What martyrs? The word martyr means “testimony,” it means “witness.” If I would say—in Revelation, the 19th chapter—“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy,” I could translate it, the martyrdom of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The same word…it means witness, it means testimony. Can you witness to all that is claimed in scripture concerning Jesus Christ? The minute you have these experiences you have left the great tribulation. We are in the tribulation. This world is the world of great tribulation. In the world you have tribulation…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. So everyone born here is born into tribulation, born into pain, born into the world of death. No matter who he is or what he possesses he goes through struggle and he’s in pain, and death will not end it, not what we call death. He is in a world of death. Only the series of events will end it.360 ¶9

Now what ends it in the washing? This is the washing: The great event that takes place when man is split from top to bottom, as I’ve tried to tell it in my work called Resurrection. As he is split from top to bottom, he sees the pool of golden liquid light and he knows it is himself. He actually knows what he is looking at; yet he’s an observer looking at something seemingly other than himself, but he knows it is himself, and his consciousness fuses with it, becomes one with it. Then he can declare as he rises and ascends, “O my divine Creator and Redeemer” as he actually moves up. At that very moment, as he enters that liquid state he was washed in the blood of the Lamb and it is himself. For no one took away my life, I lay it down myself. I am self-redeemed, because I in the beginning made the decision. “No one took away my life, I lay it down myself. I have the power to lay it down and the power to lift it up again”. So in the beginning I believe I could enter the world of death and experience all that it could do to me, and then overcome it and rise. I took upon myself that challenge of my creative power…redeemed by the blood of the Lamb…but I am the very being myself.360 ¶10

So this is another “going up unto Jerusalem.” Everything foretold and written about the Son of man, written by the prophets, will be accomplished. You go up as you believe it…all of a sudden you believe it. You had forgotten it in the tribulation and then you began to remember. This is all remembrance, the whole thing is remembrance. For if I was crucified with him in the beginning, as I am told I was united with him in a death like his, well then, if I am united with him in a death like his and the death is over, then from now on it is only remembrance. If he who died and rose, and I die with him, and he and I are one—for I was united with him in a death like his—well then, all the things that are happening thereafter must only be remembrance. So, in everyone he is remembering the entire picture that was in the beginning.360 ¶11

So here, go up to Jerusalem. Tell me what you want and if you can’t construct it yourself, maybe I can help you to construct it. All I ask of you is to believe it. Now tonight, because this is my last week, I’m going to stress the importance of believing. And the test of belief is action. You have no idea what a severe test of belief action is, for the belief that is not strong enough to affect action is not belief. If I really believe, I will act.360 ¶12

And yet, I can’t divorce my act of imagining from my act of living. If I say I’ll stand here right now and imagine something, and then one second late when I break the spell I go back to my former way of living, I’m divorcing the act of imagining from the act of living. And I can’t do it…not if I rally want to live imaginatively. So I say, “I am” and I name it. I see the end. That’s my Jerusalem, the thing that would give me satisfaction to actually become it. So Jerusalem is simply complete peace and satisfaction. So I see it clearly in my mind’s eye and so I’m acting. That imaginal act, which is my assumption—an assumption is an act of faith—and without faith it is impossible to please him, we are told. I can’t please him unless I have faith. My assumption, whether it is for myself or for you, the projection of myself, it is still self, and it’s an act of faith. So if I really believe what I’m talking about, that imagining creates reality, I would simply imagine that things are as I desire them to be. And if I dare to assume it as though it were true, then I can’t go back to my former way of living. I must continue in this state and walk as though it were to make it true in my world. If I do this, I will encounter it in this world. But at every moment of time I am confronted with this test: Do I really believe it? Well then, not a thing in this world tests belief more than action.360 ¶13

We’re told in the Book of James, faith without works is useless, really. Without works faith is nothing. But he doesn’t mean that you and I should take our faith and then substitute works, physical works, for faith. Works are the evidence of whether the faith we profess is alive or dead.360 ¶14

So I say, “I believe that imagining creates reality…I really believe it!” Well, if I really believe it, I can’t turn to anyone in this world. I can simply assume that I am what at the moment reason denies, my senses deny; and should I voice what I’m believing, all my friends will think me insane and try to bring in a psychiatrist or a doctor or someone to help me out. If I really believe it, I wouldn’t tell anyone. I would simply dare to assume that I am that which at the moment everything denies, reason denies, and my friends would try to woo me away from such hallucinations. But if I really believe that imagining creates reality, I would simply act, I would act in Imagination. So I’m not substituting, I would say, works for faith. I am now daring to say, “Alright, if I really believe it, well then, I would act!” and that action is the act of faith, therefore, that was action. The word work in scripture by definition means “act.” And so, it’s all done in Imagination, for “He calls a thing that is not seen as though it were seen and then the unseen becomes seen”. So I would simply act. I don’t go out and do things physically by trying to pull wires, meeting the right people, and doing the right thing; I simply act. Then I’ll meet the right people…they will all come into my world and they will play the parts they have to play to aid the birth of my imaginal act. And so, my imaginal act, which was my faith…I dared to believe when everything in my world denies it. If I would live this way, I will prove it in performance.360 ¶15

So here, my Jerusalem is the Jerusalem of scripture and that is the true pointing. Where am I going? Well, tell me where you want to go. You want to go into the state of health, alright? A state of wealth? A state of…well, you name it. As you name it, I will not give you means, no means, I’ll give you the end. You name the end…I will construct the end for you…and then have you act. All you have to do in the acting is to do it by assumption. If it were true, what would you see? How do people see you were it true? Well then, let them see you as they would see you were it true, and then dare to remain faithful to that assumption. That assumption is an act of faith, and without faith you can’t please him. We’re told, we understand that the worlds were made through faith…by faith the worlds were made. So if they’re all made through faith, well then, I must imitate him and do exactly what he did to bring the whole thing into being. And who is he? Well, I’m told he is my I-am-ness, he’s my Imagination. Did it really say that?—all through scripture—“Unless you believe that I am he, you die in your sins”. So I dare to assume that I am…and I name it…but at the moment of my assumption everything is denying it. But unless I believe that I am he creating, well then, I will remain and I will die in my sins. Sin means “missing the mark”; I will fail to realize my objective. So it’s entirely up to us to believe it or not believe.360 ¶16

I can’t stress it too forcefully that action is the most severe test of belief. To say I believe and then not to act is not to believe. If someone now screamed in this room, “Fire,” there isn’t a person here who seeing the evidence of fire would not try to make the exit. Because you believe that you are endangered by fire, you would start towards the exit, so you would act based upon that belief. Well now, can your belief be as strong? Can you so believe that if you dare to assume anything that it will happen? As Blake said, “I dined with Ezekiel and Isaiah, and I asked them if a firm persuasion that a thing is so makes it so? And Isaiah said to me, ‘In days of Imagination a firm persuasion removed mountains, but many are not capable of a firm persuasion of anything this day.’” But in days of Imagination, a firm persuasion removed mountains. So, can we remove the mountain of doubt by a firm persuasion?360 ¶17

So here, I know the road…I can tell you the road…I’ll show you the road to anything in this world. And when it comes to that world, well, I’ll tell you the road that I’ve travelled and it was as automatic as my physical birth. I am born and I was born physically by the action of powers beyond my own. I make no claim for the birth either physically or spiritually as taught me in scripture, but while I’m in this world with this garment and it must be fed and I must meet all the demands of Caesar, then let me apply this law. Let me find out what do I have in this world that is my Jerusalem, what is my objective? My objective in this world is always Jerusalem, and I must always move up to it.360 ¶18

Let us take tonight the story that is being told in the Jewish world. It has so much to do with the tabernacle. If you know how it’s constructed in scripture, you’ll find it has a threefold access to God. The crowd, the people (they’re called the people) can only go so far, because everything is based upon the evidence of the senses. They can’t go beyond a certain point. So they are led to the base of the mountain, and they worship at the altar that is physical, on the outside. That’s how the thing is constructed, the tabernacle.360 ¶19

First of all, let me define it for you. The tabernacle is defined as “an elongated, movable place of worship, covered with skin.” In scripture it’s called the ram’s skin and the ram’s skin was dyed red. And is there any better definition of man? An elongated, movable place of worship, covered with a skin. And in this tabernacle there are three stages, a three-fold access to God.360 ¶20

For the outside world based upon the evidence of the senses is completely on the outside, and that’s the majority, ninety-nine percent. Then comes a small number and they’re called the priests and the seventy elders of Israel, and they can go a little bit farther. They go not too far, because they’ve got to worship God from afar…as you’re told in Exodus, and they worship him from afar. Then comes the single being called Moses. That’s “something in man that is to be born,” for that’s what the word means. And so, he moves, Moses goes into the cloud and ascends the mount, and there he remains forty days and forty nights in communion with God. And he tells you God’s name is I AM. So the individual goes; a crowd, they can’t go. The smaller number can go a little bit further as they are, well, I mean interested to the point of applying themselves. And you’ll find a small number and they’re called the priests and the seventy elders of Israel. Well, then comes the individual, the courageous being to be born, for that’s what the word Moses means. It simply means really, the ancient, I would say, perfective of the Egyptian verb “to be born.” That’s what the word really means by definition. There’s something in man…a courageous presence that has to be born. Its fulfillment is in the New Testament and it is called Christ Jesus. But the whole thing is taking place in you, in me.360 ¶21

So here, in the tabernacle, this movable place, I find levels of my own consciousness…where I find comfort in the mass opinions, moved like the wind. Then I separate myself from myself and became more selective. Then I began to be hungry, hungry for the word of God. As told us in the Book of Amos, “I will send a hunger upon you; it will not be for bread, it will not be a thirst for water but for the hearing of the word of God” . So when the hunger possesses me I am separating myself from the mass and now I’m a select few. But that’s not good enough. I must still become more selective and become a unit unto myself…just something that is I AM. That’s now called Moses and it moves up into the cloud…no one can see him.360 ¶22

When he comes down from the revelation he comes down veiled, because they can’t look upon his face. He doesn’t put a veil upon his head. The word veil means “authority” by definition. So when a woman said she must veil herself, she puts on the authority of someone she thinks more than herself because he represents the household. So in Paul’s letters this silly little concept on the surface, that a man is the head of the woman, and Christ the head of man, and God the head of Christ, all of this is simply stages of authority in this world. So here, in this world of ours I am moving within myself to higher and higher levels.360 ¶23

Now, if this thing proves itself in performance, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else will tell you…if it proves itself. I ask you to test it. I ask you to try it. And you can try it and if you really live by it, it cannot fail in performance, it cannot. So, in leaving you this week, I will ask you to always ask yourself, “Have I acted?” I just heard something about a friend of mine, you’ll say, and what have I done? Did I sit down and write a nice sympathetic letter or did I act? I heard that her husband was unemployed. He’s been fired. Am I going to wonder how I can contribute, to help out, because they’ll need money to pay rent, and so I’m thinking about what could I donate…or do I act? What is their Jerusalem? That I will send a check? Or is their Jerusalem that he gets a better job paying more money? The doctor just said so and so about a friend of mine, alright, what is my action? What is his Jerusalem, a state of health that he hasn’t enjoyed in years? Well then, that’s his Jerusalem…that’s where I should act. I must represent him to myself as I would see him were he now such a person, if I believe that imagining cerates reality. If I don’t do it, I didn’t really test it.360 ¶24

So I tell you, I can’t emphasize it too much, what a severe test of belief action is! If I sit down and begin to rationalize, I am not acting. You don’t rationalize when you get the objective. The objective is always Jerusalem. “Behold, we’re going up to Jerusalem, and all that is written of the Son of man by the prophets will be accomplished.” But along the way all kinds of things must be accomplished. There are levels of Jerusalem: the end is the complete awakening as God. But along the way I have other objectives and so the outer cord must be satisfied too, and then the inner cord satisfied, and finally the unit, the single one, moving up. So you can go and believe in a certain ism and find comfort in a small crowd, still a crowd, or you can go it alone and you go it knowing this thing is true. So I ask you to try it. It won’t fail! I promise you it will not fail.360 ¶25

So here, when I that night was bathed in the blood of the Lamb, I didn’t come out any red. We’re told he came out shining white. He came out bathed in the blood of the Lamb and his clothes and his robes turned into raiments, into white. For that night—I can see it now, it was the night of the 8th of April, 1960, that’s when it happened to me—when my temple was split from top to bottom and here came that pool of golden liquid light, which is the blood of the Lamb. When I looked at the blood of the Lamb, I knew it was myself, it was not another, that I was my own Creator and Redeemer; and then I ascended right into heaven by fusion…my consciousness became one with the blood of the Lamb. So when the question was asked, “Who are they?” they came out of the great tribulation, they departed from it. So that was the third act. You’re born first, yes. You find the fatherhood of God in yourself, that’s second. Then this act is the blood of the Lamb, when you ascend having fused with it. And forever you are one with it; you can’t un-fuse with it after it’s fused. So here is the story of the 7th chapter of Revelation . And he told all the things that happened to him after that. Not a tear from his eye when the garment is taken off, no more hunger, no more thirst, for he came from the great tribulation.360 ¶26

So let no one tell you of the martyrdom the world talks about. You’re only witnesses to the truth of God’s word when they speak of a martyr. The first martyr in scripture, we’re told, is Stephen. Well, the word Stephen simply means “a crown,” that’s all that it means. So when Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith; henceforth, there’s laid up for me the crown of righteousness,” it’s definitive, not a crown, the crown. Well, that same word crown is Stephen. So here, he consents unto Stephen’s death. What death?—they stoned him. With stones? No. They throw all of the physical facts of life at the man who dares to claim what he cannot prove in the world of Caesar. They confront him with all the facts, the facts are the stones. So Paul, who had not yet experienced it, consented unto the death by stoning. Who was he consenting to? To stone the one who was crowned—not one who’s beaten by the Jews as you’re taught—with stones. They simply threw the evidence at him: you’re a man born of a woman, we know your parents, we know your background. You have no this, no that, so what do you dare to claim? And he cannot prove to anyone what he has experienced supernaturally and so they throw the stones at him, the evidence of the facts of life while he is crowned. Now Paul goes into it and he finishes the race, too, and then he claims he has the crown. He’s taking no more than Stephen, for Stephen simply means “crown.”360 ¶27

So take nothing for granted when you read that book of books…it’s a mystery. It is not history in the world of Caesar, but it is eternal history in the sense it’s a drama unfolding in every person in this world. So be comforted…you do not earn it because you have predetermined it. Your goodness is not going to earn it. You could be so good in this world that you get all the medals in the world. You’re so good and you’re this, that and the other. Hasn’t a thing to do with salvation, nothing. So it’s not because of the deeds of righteousness, we’re told, but in virtue of his own mercy. At one moment in time you awaken yourself, and as you awaken the drama is over, and you simply return to your state, this time enhanced by reason of the fact that you went through the challenge of death. And you come out of the world of death…this is the world of death, the world of generation and death.360 ¶28

So tonight you take the challenge. What is your Jerusalem tonight? And let it not be…unless it’s a change of position in the world, all well and good…then that could be your Jerusalem. You want a better home? Alright, a better home would be Jerusalem. You want a better job? That’s Jerusalem. You want a greater degree of strength? That’s Jerusalem. It is the true pointing, the real objective, that’s Jerusalem. So the minute you name the objective, you have in sight Jerusalem. Now it’s always an ascent: “Let us go up to Jerusalem”; it’s never going down to Jerusalem. You go down from Jerusalem. So if I would go up to Jerusalem tonight, I must transcend my present state. It’s always transcended. If I go down, I’m not going to Jerusalem, I’m going from Jerusalem. So Jerusalem is ever an ascent, up and up. So what is your objective? Alright, let it be something greater than you have already accomplished. If it is something greater, then you have Jerusalem.360 ¶29

Now, this is how I would accomplish it. I would see in my mind’s eye the scene which would imply that I have already realized it. As I see it, I would get closer and closer to the feeling of the wish fulfilled. The word in Hebrew which is Shachah means literally “to draw near.” But as I draw near I always must face Jerusalem. In the Book of Daniel , when the King Darius signed the decree that anyone who worships a god other than himself or anything other than himself, be it a man, he shall be put to death. And Daniel heard the decree of Darius; and when he heard it, the law of the Medes and the Persians could not be broken. He knew these were simply the laws of the Medes and the Persians, so he simply retired to his home and to the upper room and the window that faced Jerusalem, and there he prayed. You always orient yourself towards Jerusalem in prayer. So Daniel went and took the window that all may see him and oriented himself towards Jerusalem. And then, they put him in the den with the lions. At the end of the period he came out. The next day Darius came and asked him for his voice, and the voice came back that the angel of the Lord, the angel of the God Jehovah sealed the mouths of the lions. And then they brought him out. Those who had condemned him, they put them in—not only them but all their possessions, their wives, their children, their servants, everything, and they were devoured. This is all beautiful symbolism. The man who dares to face Jerusalem…but he went to the upper story, opened the window and faced Jerusalem. Always orient oneself towards one’s objective…that’s how you pray.360 ¶30

So the word worship in Hebrew is “to draw near.” The word prayer as we use it is simply “motion towards, accession to, nearness at, at or in the vicinity of.” Therefore, I’ve oriented myself towards the feeling of the wish fulfilled. It may take me ten seconds, it may take me a minute, it may take me five minutes to orient myself towards the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Well then, let me remain there. And he did it three times a day. Three is resurrection. On the third day the earth comes up out of the deep . So he did it until he brought it up. When he brought it into visibility, then the world would see it. And so here, I always must face my Jerusalem.360 ¶31

So you want something, another friend wants something, or I want something, alright, I know what you want, well then, let me face it. And in spite of the laughter of the world, let me be bold enough to simply face it and see it and draw nearer and nearer…for it’s simply nearness. The whole thing is to draw near. To what? I’m drawing nearer and nearer to the feeling of the wish fulfilled. When I can get that feeling the thing is done, well then, I will bring it out. My three days are over, or my three attempts are over, but the resurrection is upon me…it’s coming up.360 ¶32

Now, you’ve hear my story time and again, those who have been coming, concerning the end of the journey. Alright, you can’t earn it by goodness, but you could assume that you have arrived before it happens. You could if that is your wish. If you could become as hungry for that as you could for a loaf of bread when you’re physically hungry, could you want it more than anything in the world? For “I will send a hunger upon the world and it will not be for bread or a thirst for water but for the hearing of the word of God.” When that hunger possesses you and not a thing in this word can satisfy that hunger but an experience of God, you’re on it. You’re drawing nearer and nearer and nearer. And yet you didn’t earn it. You don’t earn this. You simply, you’re [...], and in a way you do not know and like a thief in the night, it possesses you and suddenly you’re having the experience of Jesus Christ. But that hunger must be upon you. If you’re satisfied with a little bit [...] alright, be satisfied. Then you’re numbered among the seventy elders and the priests of the world, and they must worship God from afar. But when you aren’t satisfied because the hunger is upon you, then you become the Moses and you go right into the cloud. Remember, to worship God is always drawing near; and the nearer you draw the more you are Moses who confronts him, and he’s one with him.360 ¶33

So in this story, I ask everyone to take the challenge. Take it, it will not fail you. But remember, you are the operant power, it doesn’t operate itself. So if I be the operant power, for I must believe that I am he…well, if I am he and I want to be other than what I am, well then, I am he. Now assume it, and the assumption is the act of faith, and I conjure out of the nowhere that which I have assumed that I am. But if I do not believe that I am he, I will die in my sins—I’ll be wanting to be other than what I am and not getting it because I don’t believe I am it. It’s just as simple as that, for his name is I AM.360 ¶34

So here tonight, you take the challenge, and don’t forget what Jerusalem really means. You meet a friend who wants a job. He has in his mind’s eye where he wants to go and he’s going to Jerusalem. It’s relative…he only wants a better job or, at least, a job. Well now, do you now the way to point? Because it means “the true pointing,” that’s what Jerusalem is. If you say, I can instruct, I can teach, I can inform, can you point him the true way to get there? Well then, you will tell him, “See in your mind’s eye what you would see if you had the job.” If he’s married, would your wife be satisfied with that income? If he can answer in the affirmative, alright, assume that she knows it, and let her see you, in your mind’s eye as seeing you physically just as though it were true. You want to double it? You want to treble it? Don’t ask anyone if it’s possible, do you want it? Then you can point the way.360 ¶35

It’s entirely up to the individual and his faith. Can he believe it? You see, no limitations are placed upon the power of belief. All things are possible to him who believes, as you’re told in the 9th chapter of Mark, all things. He does not place any limit on the power of belief: “All things are possible to him who believes.” The one who heard that said, “Lord, I believe, but help my unbelief.” I believe, but I could use a little bit more so help my unbelief. Well, to help your unbelief, I’m giving you the key tonight: action. Action tests belief. I can’t conceive of anything that is a greater test to man’s belief than action. If I believe, I’ll act; and if I don’t really believe to the point of affecting action, well then, I don’t really believe. It’s a half-belief and it’s not good enough. It has to be all out. Do I believe? Well then, if I believe, I will instantly act…if I believe that imagining creates reality.360 ¶36

So here, I’m going to ask you…although I’m closing this Friday, write me a letter, send them home and my daughter will forward them to Barbados. Tell me your visions, and if you don’t want to do that, let me keep them anyway. Let me have them when I come back. Because really your visions as you told them to me and your experiences, your mystical experiences, your dreams, and the use of this law in the physical world of Caesar have helped immeasurably. Every time I got your letters and I could tell it from the platform, it encouraged everyone, and so we are all mutually benefitted by your stories.360 ¶37

So here, this glorious being is housed in us, not on the outside. And the journey starts seemingly with unnumbered people, and then it gets smaller and smaller as you ascend the mountain. If you know the story, he only takes three with him when he goes up and then in the end they could only see one, Jesus only. So he takes up three, and then two appear, and finally there’s only one. So the words are, when the cloud disappeared, there was Jesus only. And I tell you that is true. In the end there’s only “one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who’s above all, through all, and in all”. Only one! But one body…we’re gathered one by one into a single body who is God. God is simply the resurrected being who took the challenge and then came out. Everyone who comes out is part of that same one body; without loss of identity you are that body, that Spirit. That’s the mystery. It’s the impossible thing for man to grasp—how can I be one with the body of the risen Christ, wearing that body and that Spirit without loss of identity? But it’s true: Only one body, only one Spirit. And so, you go until finally you’re so unique you cannot come with another. You can’t be duplicated, you can’t be replaced. So everyone is brought right into that one, and it is the whole body is his body. When you fuse with it, it’s yours, and you do not lose your identity, and now you’re that Great Being.360 ¶38

So this is my message to you concerning this night. For the question is asked, “Why does this night differ, what makes it different from all other nights?” Well, it’s the night of the deliverance of Israel, from where?—from Egypt. For the whole journey is a journey from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom, from what is called Egypt, which is this world, into “that world,” from this age into “that age.” That’s the journey. We seem to be moving together, but really in the end we’re moving singly, to find ourselves in the end all one.360 ¶39

So listen to the testimony of one who has experienced it. You aren’t called upon to be any martyr, to give your body to be shot, to be decapitated—the churches teach that—but that’s not martyr in scripture. A martyr is a witness: He is testifying to the truth of God’s word. That’s the only martyr. Yes, someone may strike you in the face and think that you are blaspheming. That’s alright, that still doesn’t make you a martyr. Listen to the words, “No one takes way my life, I lay it down myself”. So how can he…the word used of him is testimony and the word means “martyr”; “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”. So the martyrdom of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. But no one takes away my life…how can it be a martyr? If a thousand people physically took my life and I always lay it down myself, well then, they didn’t do a thing I didn’t command them to do it…if I lay it down myself. So how can they take my life? How could anyone? If the word of scripture is true, I lay down my own life. I have the power to lay it down and the power to lift it up again. And so, having lifted it up I tell the story of what happened. I tell you it’s a true story.360 ¶40

How can you read those words and ever come to the conclusion that it means what it actually means when it happens to you? How could I actually be saved by the blood of the Lamb? How can I wash my robes in the blood of the Lamb? That’s exactly what happens. Because when you see it, it’s to you something so alive and you know what it is and it’s your self. Yes, it’s formless; it’s liquid, golden liquid living light. The minute you look at it you know it’s yourself, and you, the observer, your consciousness fuses with it, and then up you go, as told in scripture, like a serpent being lifted up in the wilderness. For this is the wilderness and you come out of it, and up you go…and you are saved by the blood of the Lamb.360 ¶41

Now we have tonight…undoubtedly there are millions of people who sang the old, and still sing that wonderful old hymn, Saved by the Blood of the Lamb, and they haven’t the slightest idea what it’s all about, not the slightest idea. They think a man was on a cross, and blood came from his body, and by that little act they are saved. It hasn’t a thing to do with it. One day they will see that blood and it’s at the base of the spine. And when that body is split in two and it explodes, you turn from generation into regeneration, for it is washing of regeneration you are told in that 3rd chapter of Titus. We are saved by the washing of regeneration and not by any deed we did in this world. No goodness did it; not a thing did it, simply this act does it. Not until that whole thing is split and the curtain is torn in two from top to bottom, and then the blood is revealed and it’s yourself. So you were down in generation, and then you fuse with it, and you move up and it’s regeneration. So it’s the washing of regeneration, the washing of the reborn. And that one that was reborn nine months before is now washed.360 ¶42

And as you’re told in scripture, the command to Moses was to erect that tabernacle nine months after you arrive at the base of the mountain, the sacred mountain. Nine months after you arrive at the base of the sacred mountain, erect the tabernacle. And so, you arrive at the base of that sacred mountain the night that you are resurrected and born, right there, that’s when you arrive. And now nine months later erect the tabernacle and it’s lifted up…that’s the erection, from generation into regeneration. So every word of scripture proves itself in performance. But the crowds, no, they will not…they’re small in number…they will see it from afar. And then the greatest one will move forward into the cloud itself and rise to the heights and experience scripture. So he who is to be born is born, and so Moses is one who is to be born; he’s born…that’s Christ Jesus.360 ¶43

Now let us go into the Silence.360 ¶44

* * * [...] we have one left, which is on Friday, and may I bring your attention to the book table, because they’re not distributed across the land, and if you like a book…because my friend Jack and his wife Grace they will be, undoubtedly, off to Canada, and the books are not really distributed in the cities. If you like one, before you go this is the time to get it. [...] for they’re really not in the book stores. They are, but not really. Well, until the next time. I hope I’ll see you on Friday. Thank you.360 ¶45
