The Battle of Armageddon

A man’s true environment is in his Imagination, so that “All that we behold, though it appears without, it is within, in our Imagination of which this world of mortality is but a shadow” . Everything in our world contains within itself the capacity for symbolic significance, so no matter what is taking place it’s a symbol telling you what is taking place within you. This whole vast world is yourself pushed out so that it is the image that is alive within our Imagination that really overwhelms us. Now tonight let us turn to the one great book, the Bible. We are told there will be a finial battle…there will be a great and last war at the end of the world called Armageddon. The world thinks it’s going to take place on the outside, where races are put against races and nations against nations and so on. You’ve heard it…you’re old enough some of you to have heard that the First World War was that war and then came the 2nd World War. There are always wars, always conflicts, but that is not Armageddon. Armageddon is the battle of ideology…and it doesn’t mean Communism against Democracy or Socialism against Capitalism…hasn’t a thing to do with that. The battle takes place in us.551 ¶1

When we look into the world today and see the unrest, if you really understood what is taking place in a very large group in this world, you would rejoice…if you knew scripture. He said, “Do not think I have come to bring peace on earth. I have come not to bring peace but a sword. I have come to set a man against his father, and to set a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s foes are those of his own household” . It certainly doesn’t mean our children pitted against us. Hasn’t a thing to do with that. But here you’ll see, as it’s described in scripture, it’s the young against the old. It is simply the true understanding of the Word of God against the traditions of men. And then you hear it, after having built up all these structures by which you live, and you thought by these structures you would earn the kingdom of heaven, and so you would simply acquire merit. Then comes one who has experienced the story of God and he tells you as it actually happens and he knows that the entire story, the life of Jesus Christ, is a spiritual autobiography of everyone who is redeemed. So he tells it, knowing that everyone is going to be redeemed, and therefore everyone is going to have this as his own spiritual autobiography. Well, when you hear it, the conflict starts within you, and that’s the battle of Armageddon.551 ¶2

Neutrality is impossible. You can’t patch the little piece of new cloth to the old. It is either all or nothing. You can’t possibly put the new wine that you’re now receiving into the old bottles and say, well, I’ll go along with him just so far, but I will not give up my belief in an external God to whom I bend my knee and cross my body when I stand before what represents him upon the wall. So the battle is on…until finally within oneself the story unfolds and then the victory is God’s. It’s over. You should have no other God but God, and his name is I AM. “This is my name forever. By this name I shall be known throughout all generations” . Choose this day whom you shall serve…we chose this day the Lord. All right, now prove it in your behavior and prove it in your life. To whom will you turn if you’ve chosen correctly and chosen the Lord?551 ¶3

And I tell you from experience this story of Jesus Christ is the actual spiritual autobiography of the individual who is redeemed; for the entire story unfolds within him as though there were no other, just himself.551 ¶4

So here, Armageddon…don’t look for it on the outside. Today we see the young—that’s only a symbol—erupting not in our country alone, erupting all over the world, in Europe, in Tokyo, and were it known, in Russia. They only allow a little bit to sneak out, but they are erupting there too. That’s a symbol.551 ¶5

These kids think that they’re going to change the world. No, to those who understand, they aren’t changing the world. There’s a tremendous eruption of the truth in the hearts of men. It’s not just confined to this platform. There must be from this world picture of eruption simply an enormous eruption of truth against the entrenched traditions of men. Yes, even in so-called atheistic Russia…in lands where they are not considered Christian. But truth is not confined that way; it’s confined to God.551 ¶6

And within himself he realizes he is the being spoken of in scripture. So religion really is in the true sense of the word a devotion, a tie to the most exalted reality that one has experienced. So when one has experienced scripture, who in this world can put him back into the little bottle? They can’t do it. And here, you find all over our little world men who are supposed to speak the Word of God and encourage those who listen to them. They’re involved in the shadow world. They’re telling our government what they should do and how they should do it, not telling the individual who comes to him about God’s promise. That here is God’s promise, this fantastic promise that he’s going to give himself to you in the most literal sense of he word: he’s going to give his son to you. And because he and his son are one, then he gave himself to you. Now believe it and hope for the eruption now. Just now, this moment, the whole thing could erupt within us. And you realize it’s not of another…that the whole vast drama on the outside is taking place within us and these things are but shadows…the whole vast world is a shadow world.551 ¶7

So when you see the young pitted against the old, and we think now this is a new generation, no, rejoice, for this is part of scripture. They burn down the buildings, and you and I will pay the taxes. We resent the fact that we may be taxed all the more to rebuild the buildings. But has it happened in us, that eruption? So that the new idea has taken over and completely displaced the old…that I no longer can bow to an external God? That I can no longer believe in an external Jesus Christ…that Christ in me all along was the hope of glory?551 ¶8

And suddenly, that Christ in me awoke and unfolded his story…not as another where I observe him but as myself, redeeming me by becoming me to the point where everything said of him I am experiencing of myself. Now, that is the new as against my old concepts that I got from my mother first, then in Sunday school, then in school, and then as I went to church and heard it from the pulpit. That was an idea that I built within me and that structure I lived by it, it governed my behavior…and suddenly it is not true. Now the battle is between truth and error…that’s the real battle of Armageddon.551 ¶9

It’s not between nations and nations and races and races. It may seem to be on the outside, but it is not. So he comes into the world to bring the sword of truth. Now we are told, and when he comes the armies of heaven follow him, and from his mouth issues a flaming sword, a sharp sword. Then we are told that the sword is the sword of the Spirit, which is The Word of God” . So what does he bring? A sword by which we chop peoples heads off? No…that’s only a symbol. Take off his head so that something new may come…but that’s only a symbol. Horrible as it is, in the outer world that only symbolizes what is taking place within us. So here, the whole head comes off. Whose head?—John the Baptist. That was the end and then rising in its place is the Lord Jesus Christ. When he is arrested and his head comes off, I no longer go along with the external world…for he now simply is clothed in the external things of camel hair, camel and leather around his waist…everything that is external to man. Now comes the man from within, for he is the inner man, and that inner man rises within me displacing the outer man.551 ¶10

But I do see his rising as a disturbing influence, and everything that I believed in and bowed to on the outside—worshipped him because he was known, worshipped him because he was rich, worshipped him because he was an intelligent person in the world—then I discover that the being of beings, the God of Gods, is really within myself! And now he erupts and tells me if I conquer, conquer what? If I overcome all of these beliefs—I can’t patch it up, I can’t modify it—if I overcome everything external to myself, and see only myself as the cause of the phenomena of my life, nothing in the world but myself producing everything in my world—if I really accept that 100 percent then “to him who conquers I will give the morning star” . Now he identifies himself as the morning star. “I am the root and the offspring”…who’s speaking? Jesus. And who is Jesus?—the Lord God Jehovah. So, I am the root and the offspring of David. I am the bright morning star. So he’s going to give me if I conquer the old and accept, completely accept it, then I receive as the gift himself, the bright morning star—which is the symbol of the new day and immortality, a complete change in my world when finally this little garment that housed the old one is taken off for the last time. Then I am clothed in the new man, the man that rose within me, and repeated in detail the entire story of the Lord Jesus Christ.551 ¶11

So Armageddon is not taking place in the battlefields of the world. Interpret them all to be eruption. And then you see a new one coming in its place. Here is America…it’s a new nation compared to the old nations. Now it supplanted the old powers. That’s one grand eruption…the mightiest power in the world of Caesar is this land today. But in the midst of it we find people erupting and the young pitted against the old. And that’s exactly how he does it in scripture, as you read it in the 10th chapter of the Book of Matthew. He doesn’t tell you old against the new, he starts off with man against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. He starts with the young trying to dislodge the old and the battle is on. Watch it in the world.551 ¶12

So everything must be interpreted as a symbol as we do in our dreams. Like a lady tonight who wrote me…I got it his past week…she felt in her dream that she was one of a twin and one had died. She felt that the love for the one who died was so great and she didn’t want to hurt her mother, so she pretended she was the one who died and got the affection of her mother and the affection of all. She knew all along that the one who died was the one she had assumed. Well, what a perfect story confirming scripture.551 ¶13

Here, the one who took the heart of God the Father was Jacob, and he supplanted his brother Esau in the affections of his father. He came second, and he thought that because he was not first but second that the Father would love the first one first and most. Not knowing, and the world does not know that he who is called the first born from the dead in the Book of Revelation and in the Book of Colossians…and he said the first born of every creature is the same first born; but the first born from the dead must be seen in the order of events rather than in time. So that every one who erupts in the story of Jesus Christ, that is the first born. You aren’t second because 2,000 years you came later or 1,000 years or 3,000 years. No one comes before you, because Christ is the head…he is the first. Well, if Christ unfolds within you, you can’t be second. You supplant what was the first.551 ¶14

So you’re told, the body comes into the world and that is first. The physical is first, the Spirit is second; but the second which is Spirit supplants the first. So the outer man is Esau, that’s first, he comes in first. The second one comes in, that’s Jacob, and he is the smooth-skinned lad…he is the Spirit man. Then we are told, “And the Lord loved Jacob but he hated Esau” . The outer man must be discarded, because flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. So it’s the inner man that is to be born and he is the first born from the dead. But see that first born in the order rather than time, so that first he must rise. That’s the one that is going to be born, the one who has awakened within. The minute he is awakened he comes out; as he comes out, he is born from above. That’s the one the Lord loves, and he’s one with the Lord because he is the Lord. “I will give you now the bright morning star,” and he is himself the bright morning star who gives it…so God gives himself. There’s no one, then, but you. You then control all.551 ¶15

When you take off this garment, you are one with the God who is running the entire show. Seen from above, this conflict today is not disturbing…they’re rejoicing that there’s an eruption of the truth in the hearts of men. But on this level as a tax payer, you read the morning paper and you resent the fact they’re burning down these buildings that cost money. You resent the fact that people who go there to be educated cannot be educated because of the nonsense of a little percentage…but there’s always only a small little percentage. But they don’t know what they’re doing…they’re only symbols. They’re playing their little game not knowing what they’re doing at all. “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” They think they’re going to take over…they think they’re going to take over the entire country or the world. No, they’re only that little symbol, symbolizing that measure of the eruption in the hearts of men. For there’s only always at any one time a remnant who erupts. But, oh, today when you see the world picture what a lovely large remnant. On the other hand, we are three and a half billion today as against only say a few hundred million 2,000 years ago. So here it is a larger section, but the larger is only relative, because, if I take three and a half billion, or even say, a few hundred million, you can see the difference. But today that thing has gone out and they are erupting…in this small room they’re erupting, there’s eruption here. Percentage-wise it’s a very large eruption.551 ¶16

So here, a lady wrote, “I had this most disturbing dream. I found myself in my home cleaning out every piece of furniture that I’m going to take into my new apartment. It’s going to be two miles from here.” And so she’s singling out all the ones she’s going to take and then leaving these others for her husband…which care of the two she’s going to take. Then she finds herself in the new apartment. She knows it intimately as she places all these things. Then she awakes in the bed with her husband to find that it wasn’t as real as it appeared to be. It seemed so three-dimensional, everything was so real.551 ¶17

Well, that’s the most wonderful experience. No, you aren’t going to leave the man you love here. No, hasn’t a thing to do with that. Take the symbolism of it. He is your husband, but your true husband is God. When you’re told in the 2nd chapter of Genesis, “And a man shall leave everything and cleave to his wife ‘til they become one flesh,” that’s what you did. You left everything of the earth, moved into an entirely different state, which is motion. The first creative act was motion: “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep.” As God moved, everything erupted and the world came into visibility. So you moved from one state into another, but the state into which you moved was into your true husband who is the Lord God Almighty. That’s your true husband. But the symbol of that husband is on earth and you will love him and continue to love him, and share your world with him and he with you. But you made the move within into the real union with God, for that’s your husband, as told you in the Book of Isaiah: “You Maker is your husband; the Lord of hosts is his name”. So you move into a real relationship with the God within you, who will leave everything and cleave to you. And you did discover the great secret of moving from state to state.551 ¶18

So don’t be bewildered as you said in your letter, “I am bewildered. What does it mean?” No, you’ll find that the love will not be modified and the love grows stronger. If you pass a certain point in this world, then your affections get deeper and deeper for the one that when you first met her or met him you were fired by sex. That holds you. But when that fades, if the love is maintained as it was prior to the union, then you find that relationship deeper and deeper. You’re more concerned for your loved one than ever before. It is not sex anymore. That is something that is faded, slowly fades from your world, but a deeper one takes over. Now, the motion takes place within you from what is now a relationship in this world to a spiritual relationship. And you’ll find that you’re not far then from the eruption of the story of Jesus within you. The whole thing unfolds within you. So, his story is the spiritual biography, auto-biography, of the one who is redeemed. All shall be redeemed and therefore it’s going to be the experience of every child born of woman.551 ¶19

So don’t look for the conflicts on the outside…interpret them as symbols. They’re all symbols. So when today the youth is pitted against the old, see it not as the world is describing it in the papers and radio and TV. Don’t go wild about it. Rejoice that in a large section of the world the Word, which is the sword of the Spirit, has erupted and the armies are on the march. For the armies of heaven followed him, and then from his mouth issues this flaming sword. The sword is called “the sword of the Spirit,” which is the Word of God. And his name shall be called the Word of God. But he is the living Word that unfolds within man and interprets the external Word of the letter. So the whole outer world is a dead world like the letter in the Bible. It’s dead until something alive makes it so, and only when it erupts within man does that dead letter become alive. So, he interprets it.551 ¶20

Well, many reject him. But today when you see the conflict many must have accepted it. Many must have experienced it and are telling it the world over. Where they are I don’t know…not with this mask on me. But whoever is telling it is telling it from an experience. That’s the only thing that can inflame the mind. You can’t go on adding to the traditions of men for that’s dead letters, all dead. Then you hear on radio and see on TV and read in the paper that our clergy instead of telling the Word of God are so involved in politics. They think they can buy off the eruption with money. They’ll take all the money and ask for more. You can’t stop ransom and you can’t stop any blackmail…you can’t stop it. But instead of stopping that whole nonsense and then in their own words tell the story of Jesus Christ… but unfortunately they don’t know it. For if they sat here tonight they would think they’re listening to the devil. To them this is blasphemy in the extreme. And yet, I am telling you from experience and they are telling you from theory what their fathers taught them. You’re told in scripture that “You, for the sake of your traditions, the traditions of your fathers, you have made void the Word of God”. And you can tell that from the top down, from everyone, no matter who he is. So here, they make all their little saints…made out of nothing and they never existed. Then something has happened to force them to confess the nonexistence of their saints from whom they have made hundreds of millions of dollars in selling their little icons, all these little indulgences, and now they can’t. They’re still selling them. There are people who refuse to accept it. They still want their little so-called protection based upon the outside. You don’t want it, that’s why you’re here, and you’re quite willing to accept that the drama is unfolded in you, and not on the outside.551 ¶21

So when the most horrible blow hits you and it comes home to your heart, try to see the symbolism in it all. Everything in this outer world is a symbol and contains that capacity for a symbolic significance. So why did it happen and how did it happen, and what is its meaning? What is the significance of the thing that happened? Just like a dream, for a dream has some significance. “For God speaks in a dream and makes himself known in a vision”. Well, if God is speaking I should listen and listen attentively to my dream and try to understand what he is telling me through the symbolism of dream.551 ¶22

I got another lovely letter, about twenty or twenty-five dreams. Well, I couldn’t, naturally, even summarize them because they’re different. But I can tell her (and she’s here tonight) they are perfectly marvelous. They’re all foreshadowings or adumbrations of the story that will erupt within you when you discover you yourself are Jesus Christ, that he’s not another. In your dreams he still seems to be another. He came as though he were another, well, that’s an adumbration. Like the story in 2nd Kings concerning Elijah. Elisha said to him, “Give me a double portion of your spirit” and he said, “When I leave you and depart from you if you see me you shall get what you ask for; if you don’t, you shall not have it”. And then fire separated them, and then Elijah went up in a whirlwind…well, that’s an adumbration. You do go up in a whirlwind. The word fire…it’s a fiery serpent…you go up as the fiery serpent. Well, that’s not spelled out, because it’s an adumbration. The Word had to erupt within one first in order to understand the story of Elijah going up in a whirlwind. So it is said a fire separated them. Well, may I tell you it is a fire. Then you find in the 14th chapter of Zechariah, he stands—who?—the Lord is standing on the Mount of Olives and suddenly there is a complete splitting of the Mount from east to west; and then one half moves northward and one-half moves south. Now, that’s exactly what happens…but it is not any mountain outside of you. The whole drama is in you and you are the Mount of Olives, and the Lord is standing on the Mount within you. At one moment in time it is split from east to west, and one does move north and one does move south, and your whole body stands before you as something split in two. Then you go up like the whirlwind, but the whirlwind is a fiery serpent. I don’t see a whirlwind, it spins like a spiral. But he said fire separated us, and it is a fiery state because a bolt of lightning does cut you in two from your head to the base of your spine, and you move this way, completely parted. But who would understand it until one man experienced it? And then he dramatized it, the evangelist dramatized it, still leaving it as a closed book for those who have not fully experienced it. But to be understood by those who will be drawn by the one who has experienced it in the hope that in the not distant future they will individually experience the entire story of Jesus Christ.551 ¶23

So when you see unrest today, instead of ducking, rejoice that the young is now pitted against the old. Not that your child comes home and insults you. I am a father and I have two children. One is no longer the child…neither for that matter…both are adults, yet being the father they’re always children to you. Although one is forty-five and one is twenty-six, they always will be to me children as far as I am concerned. But they’ve never gone against me. Oh, they go their own way; they are individuals as they should be and they have their own opinions. They don’t completely go along with me at all. So it’s not a conflict in my little physical household. The conflict is in my household which is all within my Imagination. So I leave them alone. The conflict is in me.551 ¶24

Well, if I’ve overcome it, as the drama has proven, I may find myself one morning listening to the radio, seeing the TV, or reading the paper and you can so quietly and quickly get involved and forget and come down and see this nonsense in the world and become involved. Get back up to the Mount and see it all as symbolism. The whole thing is a symbol telling you what has happened and it’s happening in the world.551 ¶25

Now, the eruption will not go on forever, because it only lasts for a certain length of time and the door is closed once more. The door does not remain open into heaven; it only opens at intervals of time. Blake gave it 200 years. How long it remained ajar he didn’t say, but he said, “Every 200 years there’s a gate into heaven.” Well, you can see the symbol now is telling you that the door is ajar. How long it remains ajar I do not know. But you can see why the conflict rages…it is still ajar.551 ¶26

Now this will not make sense. You couldn’t print this in tomorrow’s paper, because they might have me investigated as a mental case. Yet I am telling you this is true. As you’re told in scripture, “Why do you listen to him? The man is mad and he has a devil”. He said, “I am not mad and I do not have a devil. What I tell you is true. For I speak not of my own accord, I speak as the Father speaks to me”. He’s only telling you what he experienced. So he’s not listening to a word and then telling you the word; he has experienced it. He actually experiences the entire drama, so he tells you what he has experienced. Why listen to him? The man is mad. We know his background, a very limited background. How does this man have learning seeing that he’s never studied? How does he have learning? He said, “My words are not my words but the words of him who sent me…and he who sent me is God. But he is my Father and I know my Father and ye know not your God.” Well, the man is mad…he that we know and know his background and he dares to claim he is the Son of God! Then he tops it, he said, “Not only the Son of God…I and my Father are one. So when you see me you see him who sent me.” Well, who sent you? “My Father…and my Father is he whom you call God.” He experienced it. Then having known the entire Old Testament—for that was the only thing he studied—he went back and showed them page after page where what he is telling is the interpretation, the spiritual interpretation of the dead letter. And so, he unfolded the whole thing within himself.551 ¶27

So Armageddon…don’t let anyone tell you when you see nation against nation and race against race that that is Armageddon. Armageddon is the battle of ideology where they are pitted against each other in you. And I can’t tell anyone what a shock it was to me to discover that the Christ to whom I prayed and to whom I turned in my prayers really was within me as scripture teaches. But I didn’t take it literally. When I was told, “Christ in you is the hope of glory”. These were words because I was taught and trained to turn on the outside for that Christ…not Christ in me. I could find no comfort in that Christ. I was seventeen when I left Barbados, seventeen and a half, and when I first began to pray by my mother putting my knees on the floor to pray, I did not have the courage to go to bed no matter how tired I was until I got down on my knees and prayed every night. That habit would not break for quite a while after I came to this country. Can you imagine the shock that comes to one who was trained to get on his knees and pray to an external God to find that he was not external at all!551 ¶28

Then comes that awesome moment when it unfolds within you and you are he! You can hardly believe it. For memory hasn’t faded…you know your past, you know how unlovely much of it has been. You know the thoughts, the emotions that were yours, the words that you’ve uttered. And all that could still be a house in which the perfect one, the unblemished one, the one that was never tarnished has unfolded, and you are he…still with the memory of the outer garment that you wore which clothed him while he was here.551 ¶29

Well, I can’t tell anyone the shock that comes when all these things by which you lived tumble to earth. You can no longer turn to anyone on the outside. You can’t turn to anything and blame it or praise it for what is taking place in your world, not a thing. If it’s unlovely you are the cause; if it’s lovely you are the cause. Everything is unfolding within you. You are detached from the university, or you didn’t go to one, and what is taking place, you are the cause? Yes. The word of truth erupted within you, and when it comes it sets one against the other.551 ¶30

‘Well, they never heard you, Neville.” I don’t say they ever heard me, but the Word is not confined. And so when it comes into the world and he is here and he’s erupted, he brings the new wine, and the old bottles cannot contain it. It will split and you cannot put the new patch upon the old garment. You see the whole erupting world around you and we wonder what on earth is taking place? Have we lost control of our children, they’re not disciplined? Well, you can say all kinds of things and justify it and make it come out just as you would like it…and I’m not going to deny that’s your right. I find myself on occasion sucked into the same stream and passing an opinion not based upon the truth that has erupted in me…so I can’t judge another. Who am I to say growing a beard is wrong or long hair is wrong or that anything else is wrong? I don’t know. I can only say that when I see these things, rejoice, for he has come. And when he comes he invariably sets the young against the old. And it’s not a child against his physical parent, but it is the new idea that he brings that is going to disturb the traditions of men. You’ve been living by the traditions of men and so all of a sudden they are disturbed, and the disturbance is in you, but reflected in the disturbance of the world.551 ¶31

They don’t know what they’re doing. Not one of them knows this night why I’m doing what I’m doing. If you put him right down and asked him, he doesn’t know. He is being led like sheep to the slaughter. Many of them, as some have analyzed it, may easily be set up, as someone firmly believes, as cannon fodder. And yet it caused rejoicing in the hearts of those who observe it from above, for it is only causing eruption of God’s immortal plan…for Jesus Christ is the pattern and this immortal pattern of salvation is in man. When they see it erupt, nothing in this world, this shadow world, interests them. They are rejoicing at the eruption in man, which eruption causes the eruption in the outer world to set the young against the old…for this is the new that comes into the world.551 ¶32

In the meanwhile, you take what you know of this law, for the whole is true and use it towards your own personal good fortune in the world of Caesar. Just use it. It’s simple: go to the end and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled…just go to the end. Don’t ask anyone to help you and ask no one if it’s right. Do you like it? Well then, go to the end; assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled. For that being who is about to erupt himself in you is the being who will control that end if you will remain faithful to it. If you find yourself moving from it, go back to it and once more assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled and that assumption will harden into fact. Now let us go into the Silence. * * *551 ¶33

The Father in you. The only time he knows he is the Father is when his Son, which was before that the world was, stands before you and calls you “Father.” Then you know that you are the Father and the Father knows that he is you. And the Son knows that you are his Father, and that Son is David. The Father is the Lord Jesus Christ. That truly is the Father who became man in the most literal sense: he died…for only through death can this awaken. It’s the mystery of life through death. “The mystery of the grain of wheat that falls into the earth and dies in order to be made alive, for unless it dies it remains alone; but if it dies it brings forth much”. So the Father actually becomes man. He empties himself of all and “He who was rich, yet for our sake became poor, so that by his poverty we may become rich”. Rich in power, rich in wisdom…that’s the only wealth of the world. For with that wisdom you can create anything in the world. Take all my creations away from me, but leave me the capacity to create. Give me the power and the wisdom to create. Take everything from me and it would mean nothing. So the Father in man is sound asleep. As told us in scripture, “Rouse thyself! Why sleepest thou, O Lord? Awake!”. So the search of every child born of woman is for the Father, and when he finds the Father he finds himself. He’s really looking for himself.551 ¶35

When he finds it, he finds it in you. And the story of Jesus is a pattern by which he unfolds. He first rises in you, not as another; when he awoke in me, I awoke. It wasn’t another and I was alone in my skull. Not a thing in that skull but myself, and I knew the skull was sealed like a tomb. I also knew that it was a tomb…this innate wisdom that you have. You are not only aware that you are in your skull but you’re also aware of the fact your skull is a tomb. That’s Golgotha and that’s where you were placed. You don’t remember when you were placed there, you don’t remember when you entered there or if you were taken there. That knowledge is not yet yours, whether you did it deliberately as told us in scripture that “No one takes away my life, I lay it down myself. I have the power to lay it down, and the power to lift it up again”. Now I have no memory of walking into that tomb myself, so I have no knowledge of entry. I only knew that I awoke in it and therefore I was either placed there or I walked in there deliberately and the whole thing was sealed. I knew myself to be sealed in my own skull and I knew my skull was a tomb. My one consuming desire was to get out. Then this area at the base of my skull rolled away. I pushed it from within and something rolled away like a stone and then it left a small opening. I put my head through and squeezed and squeezed and came out inch by inch like a child coming out of a womb. Only instead of being the womb of woman this is the skull of man: birth from above rather than birth from below. Then the symbolism as told us in the Book of Luke appeared before me. This storm wind…that’s all that I can describe it…it’s a wind that was unearthly like a storm, a hurricane. Here, I look over to see the cause of the disturbance and when I look back (didn’t take more than a few seconds) when I looked back my body out of which I had emerged is gone, but in its place sat my three older brothers. The oldest is at the head, the second at my right foot and the third at my left foot…as though the body was on its back. And it was, but the body had been moved, leaving now three witnesses. Then one is disturbed, my third brother Lawrence who was a doctor in this world, and he goes over to investigate the cause of the wind. He makes just a step or two and something on the floor attracts his attention. It is a little babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. He lifts the babe and announces to the other two, “It is Neville’s baby!” They in turn said, “How can Neville have a baby?” He doesn’t argue the point, he presents the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, puts it on the bed where the body formerly was. Then I bent over…invisible to all for they don’t see me, and I lift that visible child that they could see into my arms and I said, “How is my sweetheart?” The little child broke into the heavenly smile and the whole vision came to an end. Here is scripture unfolding now within me. And then every scene as told in scripture concerning Jesus Christ unfolded within me from then on. So where is he? Is it not true, as told us in Colossians, it is “Christ in you that is the hope of glory”?. And what is the glory? He glorifies the Father and he actually is the Father. He said, “Return unto me now the glory that was mine, the glory that I had with thee before that the world was”. I’m going back to pick up where I left off. But in that horrible experience coming through the world of death…for this is the world of death where everything dies, everything dies no matter what it is. We’re told today the sun is slowly dying and all the suns are dying. If it takes unnumbered trillions of light years they all will eventually die. So this world is a world of death. So you come into the world of death and conquer it, you overcome death. You die, you don’t pretend you’re dying, you die, and yet there’s something in you that cannot die, and it rises, and that is Christ in you who is the hope of glory. Tell that story and it disturbs the mind of those who have heard the story as a secular story. For this is the spiritual auto-biography of man while the story as it is told is the secular biography…and it isn’t so at all. It hasn’t a thing to do with the secular world, it’s all to do with the spiritual world.551 ¶37

To what extent are individuals responsible for the crime, etc., that’s going on in the world?551 ¶38

Speaker

If one truly knew. Did you hear the question, “To what extent are we as individuals responsible for the eruptions in the world?” If man truly knew the hidden cause of the eruptions, he would set everyone who is erupting free. If man truly knew the hidden cause of the violence in the world, he would set not only the victim [...] free but he’d set the one who seemingly is the cause free. There are such things even in our law as proximate causes. I’ll give you a very vivid story. My daughter on her first trip out, she was only sixteen. She had to wait until she was sixteen to drive a car, and we bought her a second-hand car, a nice little Buick. She took off and she went down Doheny Road coming into Sunset and it’s a very sharp curve. It was recently paved, beautifully paved…it was as black as you could make a road and beautifully marked with a double line because it was a curve like an S. She’s going down slowly when a mad person comes blindly up in this curved road, across the double line, and seems to be coming straight towards her. This is her first trip out, solo trip, and she made a sharp turn to void the impact and ran right into a tree, a palm tree. Smashed the car, smashed her nose, and she came home with the car turned inside out. The tire was torn when she got home because one piece as she turned it over cut into the car. There was not a thing you could do with the car but give it away. I said to her, “Darling, you aren’t hurt too badly are you?” No, she was crying over her car. Here her nose was smashed, blood coming down. Well, at that moment if I could have put my hands on that nut I’d have killed him. I’m looking at my sweetheart, my daughter, and here is this nut the cause of her misfortune. Forget the car. So we paid $550 for it, it was a second-hand car…get another car. But this is her first trip out by herself and naturally she is careful and this fellow comes whirling around at fifty miles per hour, comes across the double line, and he wouldn’t even stop. He heard the impact. Kept on going…didn’t want to be near the accident. Well, that’s a proximate cause. If you came upon the scene, she was the cause of that tree being injured and the car being injured. And the one who seemingly is the innocent one who is the cause of it went on innocently. So that is what is called in law the proximate cause. You drive down the highway and you think this fella is going to hit you, and so you to avoid the blow turn sharply and hit the other fella. Well, you’re responsible because you struck him and he didn’t strike you. Yet you interpreted his actions as an impending accident, and you are now the seeming cause of the accident when the true cause was what he, the innocent bystander, really did. So hidden in the minds of men…for we’re all creating in this world in our Imaginations: Imagination creates reality. Who knows who is treading in the winepress tonight that is the cause of the disturbances in the world? We have an arms industry, with all of the billions that we pour into it. We can’t consume it ourselves, so we have to go out and force countries that can ill-afford to buy it to buy it. So we go all through South America or the Near East, all through the world, selling our battleships and discarded planes and discarded guns that we may keep the industry pouring. Well, these fellas who are selling it, they want to be successful so they can build a bigger home and get not three cars but four cars in the garage, and then live in the finest clubs, and be important people in their little community…selling arms! Then suddenly you read in the paper Peru has done so-and-so, this one does so-and-so. They have no way of making a gun for themselves and so we go out to sell them so that we may keep the wheels turning. So who is the unseen culprit? Well, that’s the world over. For instance, as a friend said to me one day, it was Emmet Fox, he said, “You know, a man came to see me and he wanted his business improved. I said, ‘All right, I’ll pray for you, my good man. I’ll pray the only way I know how to pray, and I’ll pray that your business is simply booming. I’m a little bit curious tell me, what is your business?’” He said, ‘I’m a mortician.’” Good night.551 ¶39

Believe in It

The objective reality of this world is solely produced by the human imagination, in which all things exist. Tonight I hope to show you how to subjectively appropriate that which already exists in you, and turn it into an objective fact. Your life is nothing more than the out picturing of your imaginal activity, for your imagination fulfills itself in what your life becomes.550 ¶1

The last year that Robert Frost was with us, he was interviewed by Life Magazine and said: “Our founding fathers did not believe in the future, they believed it in.” This is true. Having broken with England, our founding fathers could have established their own royalty here by making one of them the king, thereby perpetuating a royal family. They could have chosen a form of dictatorship, but they agreed to imagine a form of government that had not been tried since the days of the Greeks. Democracy is the most difficult form of government in the world, yet our founding fathers agreed to believe it in. They knew it would take place, because they knew the power of belief - the power I hope to show you that you are, tonight.550 ¶2

To say: “I am going to be rich,” will not make it happen; you must believe riches in by claiming within yourself: “I am rich.” You must believe in the present tense, because the active, creative power that you are, is God. He is your awareness, and God alone acts and is. His name forever and ever is “I am”; therefore, he can’t say: “I will be rich” or “I was rich” but “I am rich!” Claim what you want to be aware of here and now, and - although your reasonable mind denies it and your senses deny it - if you will assume it, with feeling, your inward activity, established and perpetuated, will objectify itself in the outside world - which is nothing more than your imaginal activity, objectified.550 ¶3

To attempt to change the circumstances of your life before you change its imaginal activity, is to labor in vain. This I know from experience. I had a friend who hated Roosevelt, yet wanted him to change. Every morning while shaving, my friend would tell Roosevelt off. He found great joy and satisfaction in this daily routine, yet could not understand why Roosevelt stayed the same. But I tell you, if you want someone to change, you must change your imaginal activity, for it is the one and only cause of your life. And you can believe anything in if you will not accept the facts your senses dictate; for nothing is impossible to imagine, and imagining - persisted in and believed - will create its own reality.550 ¶4

Now, all things exist in God, and he exists in you and you exist in him. Your eternal body is the human imagination, and that is God Himself. Your imagination is an actual body in which everything is contained. When you imagine, the thing itself comes out of that divine body, Jehovah. The story of Jesus is a wonderful mystery that cannot be solved until you discover, from experience, that he is your own wonderful human imagination. We are told that God speaks to man in a dream and unveils himself in a vision. Now, vision is a waking dream like this room, while a dream occurs when you are not fully awake.550 ¶5

A few years ago this vision was mine: I was taken in spirit into one of the early mansions on 5th Avenue in New York City at the turn of the century. As I entered, I saw that three generations were present and I heard the eldest man telling the others of their grandfather’s secret. These are his words: “Grandfather used to say, while standing on an empty lot: `I remember when this was an empty lot.’ Then he would paint a word picture of what he wanted to build there. He saw it vividly in his mind’s eye as he spoke, and in time it was established. He went through life in that manner, objectively realizing what he had first subjectively claimed.”550 ¶6

I tell you: everything in your outer world was first subjectively appropriated. I don’t care what it is. Desire can be your empty lot where you may stand, remembering when that which you now have, was only a desire. If I now say: “I remember when I lectured at the Woman’s Club in Los Angeles,” I am implying I am no longer there, and am where I want to be. Remembering when you were poor, I have taken you out of poverty and placed you in comfort. I remember when you were sick, by taking you out of sickness and placing you in the state of health. I remember when you were unknown, implies you are now known. By changing my memory image of you, I can now remember when you, with all your fame and fortune, were unknown and broke. That was the secret of grandfather’s success. This is what I learned in vision.550 ¶7

Do not put this thought aside because it came to me in vision. In the 12th chapter of the Book of Numbers it is said that God speaks to man through the medium of dreams and makes himself known through vision. If God makes himself known to you through vision, and speaks to you in dream, what is more important than to remember your dreams and visions? You can’t compare the morning’s paper or any book you may read, to your vision of the night, for that is an instruction from the depth of yourself. God in you speaks to you in a dream, as he did to me when he took me on a trip in time to that beautifully staffed mansion at the turn of the century. As spirit, I was invisible to those present; but I heard more distinctly than they, and comprehended the words more graphically then they, because they had their millions; and who is going to tell one who already has millions how to get them? I entered their environment to hear their story, in order to share it with those who will hear and believe my words and then try it.550 ¶8

This doesn’t mean that, just because you heard my vision you are going to enjoy wealth; you must apply what you heard, and remember when. If you would say: “I remember when I couldn’t afford to spend $400 a month for rent,” you are implying you can well afford it now. The words: “I remember when it was a struggle to live on my monthly income,” implies you have transcended that limitation. You can put yourself into any state by remembering when. You can remember when your friend expressed her desire to be married. By remembering when she was single, you are persuading yourself that your friend is no longer in that state, as you have moved her from one state into another.550 ¶9

When I say all things exist in the human imagination, I mean infinite states; for everything possible for you to experience now, exists in you as a state of which you are its operant power. Only you can make a state become alive. You must enter a state and animate it in order for it to outpicture itself in your world. You may then go back to sleep and think the objective fact is more real than its subjective state into which you have entered; but may I tell you: all states exist in the imagination. When a state is entered subjectively, it becomes objective in your vegetative world, where it will wax and wane and disappear; but its eternal form will remain forever and can be reanimated and brought back into being through the seed of contemplative thought. So I tell you: the most creative thing in you is to enter a state, and believe it into being.550 ¶10

Now, causation is the assemblage of mental states, which occurring creates that which the assemblage implies. Let us say that I have two friends who would empathize with me (not sympathize) if they heard my good news. I put them together and listen (all in my imagination) as they talk about me and what has happened in my life. Being true friends, I hear their words of joy and see their happiness reflected on their faces. Then I allow myself to become visible to them and feel their handshake and embrace as I accept their congratulations as a fact. Now I have assembled a mental state, which occurring, created that which the assemblage implied; therefore I am its cause. As I walk, firmly believing in the reality of what I have done, and that imaginal act becomes a fact, I may question myself as it how it came about. Then, remembering my imaginal act, I would say: “I did it.”550 ¶11

If I did it, then did not God do it? Yes, because God and I are one “I am”. Are you going to continue to believe there is another on the outside; or are you going to believe the great confession of faith, which I would urge you to accept? It’s the great Sh’ma: “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.” If the Lord is one, he can’t be two; therefore, if his name is I am and you say “1 am,” you must be one with the Lord who brought the world into being.550 ¶12

Listen to these words: “By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that things that are seen were made out of things which do not appear.” Here we see that the word of God is an imaginal activity, which -joined by faith - created the world. And faith is nothing more than the subjective appropriation of an objective hope.550 ¶13

Now, when you discuss your desire with me, you cannot see my imaginal act relative to you. If you tell me you need a job and I accept that thought, when I think of you I remember your need. But if I changed your words and heard you tell me you loved your job, I could remember when you needed one; for now my memory bank contains the fact that you have a job you like very much. And when we meet again, you tell me that you have it, you are only bringing confirmation of my imaginal, creative act. Now, if imagination works this way, and it proves itself in the testing time and time again, what does it matter what the world thinks? It costs you nothing to try it, and what a change in life it will produce for you. Try it, for you will prove it in performance.550 ¶14

This may be in conflict with what you believe God to be. Maybe you still want him to be someone on the outside, so that there are two of you and not one. That’s all right if you do, but I tell you: God became you that there would not be you and God. He became you, that you may become God. If God became you, his name must be in you, and it is; for if I ask you anything, you must first be aware of the question before you can respond, and your awareness is God. You may not be aware of who you are, where you are, or what you are; but you do know that you are.550 ¶15

Aware of what your senses and reason dictate, you may believe that you are limited, unwanted, ignored, and mistreated; and your world confirms your belief in your imaginal activity. And if you do not know that your awareness is causing this mistreatment, you will blame everyone but yourself; yet I tell you the only cause of the phenomena of life is an imaginal activity. There is no other cause. If you believe in the horrors of the world as they are given to you in the paper and on television, your belief causes the horrors to continue. Believing the news of a shortage, you will buy what you do not need, blindly accepting the pressure to perpetuate an imaginal activity that keeps you frightened. All through scripture you are told to let not your heart be troubled, be not afraid, and fear not. If fear could be eliminated, there would be no need for psychologists or psychiatrists. It’s a bunch of nonsense, anyway. Every day this branch of medicine changes their concepts and they are always in conflict as to what a man’s attitude towards life is.550 ¶16

I say to everyone: the whole vast world is now in your human imagination, and you can bring any desire out of it by believing it into being. First, you must know what you want, then create an image that fulfills it. Would your friends know and talk about it? Imagine they are with you now, discussing your fulfilled desire. You could be at a cocktail or dinner party that is being given in your honor. Or maybe it’s a little get-together over tea. Create a scene in your mind’s eye and believe its reality in! That invisible state will produce the objective state you desire, for all objective reality is solely produced by imagination. The clothes you are now wearing were first imagined. The chair in which you are seated, the room that surrounds you - there isn’t a thing here that wasn’t first imagined; so you can see that imagining creates reality. If you don’t believe it, you are lost in a world of confusion.550 ¶17

There is no fiction. What is fiction today will be a fact tomorrow. A book written as a fictional story today comes out of the imagination of the one who wrote it, and will become a fact in the tomorrows. If you have a good memory or a good research system, you could find today’s facts. Not every fact is recorded, because not every thought is written; yet every person imagines. A man, feeling wrongfully imprisoned and desiring to get even, will disturb the world, because all things by a law divine in one another’s being, mingle. You can’t stop the force that comes from one who is imagining, because behind the mask he wears, you and he are one.550 ¶18

Start now to become aware of what you are thinking, for as you think, you imagine. Only then can you steer a true course to your definite end. If you lose sight of that end, however, you can and will be moved by seeming others. But if you keep your mind centered in the awareness of dwelling in your destination, you cannot fail. The end of your journey is where your journey begins.550 ¶19

When you tell me what you want, do not try to tell me the means necessary to get it, because neither you nor I know them. Just tell me what you want that I may hear you tell me that you have it. If you try to tell me how your desire is going to be fulfilled, I must first rub that thought out before I can replace it with what you want to be. Man insists on talking about his problems. He seems to enjoy recounting them and cannot believe that all he needs to do is state his desire clearly. If you believe that imagination creates reality, you will never allow yourself to dwell on your problems, for you will realize that as you do you perpetuate them all the more.550 ¶20

So I tell you: the greatest thing you can do is to believe a thing into existence, just as our founding fathers did. They had no current example of democracy. It existed in Greece centuries ago, but failed because the Greeks changed their imaginal activity. We could do that too. Don’t think for one second we have to continue as a democracy. We could be under dictatorship within twenty-four hours, for everything is possible. If you like democracy, you must be constantly watchful to keep its concepts alive within you. It’s the most difficult form of government. A man can voice an opinion and stage a protest here, but in other forms of government he cannot. If you want to enjoy the freedom of a democracy, you must keep it alive by being aware of it.550 ¶21

Now, if you keep this law, you don’t have to broadcast what you want; you simply assume that you have it, for - although your reasonable mind and outer senses deny it - if you persist in your assumption your desire will become your reality. There is no limit to your power of belief, and all things are possible to him who believes. Just imagine what an enormous power that is. You don’t have to be nice, good, or wise, for anything is possible to you when you believe that what you are imagining is true. That is the way to success. I believe any man who has been successful in his life’s venture has lived as though he were successful. Living in that state, he can name those who aided him in achieving his success; and he may deny that he was always aware of success, but his awareness compelled the aid he received. To believe your desire into being is to exercise the wonderful creative power that you are.550 ¶22

We are told in the very first Psalm: “Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord. In all that he does, he prospers.” This law, as explained in the Sermon on the Mount, is psychological. “You have heard it said of old, thou shalt not commit adultery, but I say unto you, anyone who lusts after a woman has already committed the act of adultery with her in his heart.” Here we discover that it is not enough to restrain the impulse on the outside. Adultery is committed the moment the desire is thought! Knowing what you want, gear yourself towards it, for the act was committed in the wanting. Faith must now be added, for without faith it is impossible to please God.550 ¶23

Can you imagine a state and feel that your imaginal act is now a fact? It costs you nothing to imagine; in fact you are imagining every moment in time, but not consciously. But, may I tell you: if you use your creative power by imagining a desire is already fulfilled, when you get it, the circumstances will seem so natural that it will be easy to deny your imagination had anything to do with it, and you could easily believe that it would have happened anyway. But if you do, you will have returned to sleep once again.550 ¶24

First of all, most of us do not even realize our own harvest when it confronts us. And if we do remember that we once imagined it, reason will tell us it would have happened anyway. Reason will remind you that you met a man (seemingly by accident) at a cocktail party who was interested in making money. When he heard your idea, he sent you to see his friend, and look what happened - so really, it would have happened anyway. Then, of course, it is easy to ignore the law, but “Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord. In all that he does he prospers.”550 ¶25

Don’t forget the law while you are living in the world of Caesar, and apply it wisely; but remember you are not justified by its use. Justification comes through faith. You must have faith in the incredible story that God promised to bring himself out of you, as you! This is God’s promise to all, and all are asked to believe it. It is not what you are, but what you trust God to do, that saves you. And to the degree that you trust God to save you, you will be saved. But he has given us a psychological law to cushion the inevitable blows of life.550 ¶26

The law is simple: “As you sow, so shall you reap.” It is the law of like begets like. As you imagine, so shall your life become. Knowing what you want, assume the feeling that would be yours if you had it. Persist in that feeling, and in a way you do not know and could not devise, your desire will become a fact. Grandfather made his fortune by standing on an empty lot and saying to himself: “I remember when this was an empty lot.” Then he would paint a beautiful word picture of the structure he desired there. This is a wonderful technique. You can remember when you were unknown, penniless, and ill, or a failure. Remembering when you were, implies you are no longer that, and your power is in its implication. Use the law and it will take you from success to success, as you conceive success to be.550 ¶27

As far as I am concerned, success is to fulfill the promise, and you cannot do that through the law. The promise is fulfilled through faith. Are you holding true to the faith? Examine yourself to see if you are. I have told you an eternal story. Believe it, but do not change it. The story is this: God became you that you may become God. Use the law to cushion the blows while God keeps his promise; and then one day, when your journey is over, you will say: “Into thy hands I commit my spirit. Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.” That’s the cry on the cross. Commit your spirit to your imaginal act, relax and fall asleep knowing its redemption is assured. Then when you least expect it, God will prove to you that he has redeemed you by awakening in you, as you. Then you will be born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God. Now let us go into the silence.550 ¶28

One Being Fell Containing All

We are told in the Book of John, the 11th chapter, that “it is expedient for you that one man should die for all” . One man should die for all. Here, you and I, raised as we were, think in terms of one man, an individual man. I would have you change that now for a moment and think of a cosmic being containing all of us within himself—call it by any name that pleases you, call it Christ—that in all is this one being that died for all. And when he rises in one there is conferred upon that being the name Lord, for only one could rise; only one fell. So one came into all and we are called one by one according to his purpose, for he is rebuilding his temple that he deliberately destroyed to expand it into something far bigger, far greater, and far more wonderful. So one being containing all within him fell into this world of death. The same one being is rising in all, but individually. And that one being, upon that one as he rises in the individual, upon that individual is conferred the divine name Christ or Lord.549 ¶1

Now Paul in his wonderful letter to us tells us, “From now on I regard no one from a human point of view; even though I once regarded Christ from a human point of view, I regard him thus no longer” . I do not see him any more as I formerly was led to believe that he was a man, something external to myself. And then he tells us why, and here we find events versus tradition…that Paul was led from tradition to self-discovery. For “When it pleased God to reveal himself in me, I conferred not with flesh and blood” . He went out to destroy those who believed in some external savior, as he was taught to believe someone came in that form. Then he discovers that it isn’t so at all, that Christ of whom they spoke was a pattern, a pattern of salvation contained within every child born of woman. That every child born of woman contained that pattern, the pattern of salvation, and it unfolds in one way only. He tried in his way to explain how it unfolds. I do not see the perfect pattern as he describes it. I cannot find the true, I would say, details, but he tells us to imitate God as dear children. To imitate anyone or anything in this world, I must first see it or hear it. How could I imitate something that I do not see, that I do not hear? “So be ye imitators of God as dear children” .549 ¶2

It is my purpose to tell you how to imitate him. You can’t imitate it as someone on the stage; you can only imitate it by hearing what took place and then believing it. So then I will tell you how it takes place. As he said, “How can I believe in him that I have not known, and how can I know of him unless there be a preacher, and how can there be a preacher unless he is sent?” . And so, if he is sent then it is through faith that I can believe. I can’t believe otherwise, for I haven’t seen him and I haven’t heard him, but if you tell me that you came from him, well then, I will simply accept if you tell me the truth, and I will set my hope fully upon this that is about to be unfolded in me. For if one being became all and one being fell, and one being is going to rise, he rises in all, but each in his own good turn. He calls us according to his purpose. So he will call me…as he did in ’59 of this century, 1959. He will call you, maybe tonight, but he will call us individually according to his purpose, and the same being is calling, the same being is rising in everyone in this world.549 ¶3

Well, I cannot conceive of anything in this world comparable to this. For unless we are called, we remain in a world of death. And the wheel of recurrence goes over and over and over, for there is no escape unless we are called out of the world of death. But I can assure you from what I know from my inner vision that everyone will escape, because he can’t leave one section of himself in the world of death. But he calls us all individually according to his purpose as he now erects the temple. The temple is made of the redeemed being that is Jesus Christ. One being fell containing all, one being rises raising all; but he raises each according to his purpose as he builds them into the redeemed and greater structure called the temple of God, which is the house or body of God.549 ¶4

So if I would imitate him…as I’m told “Be imitators of God as dear children”… I must first have a pattern. Well, a pattern is a fully, I would say, realized form. Here is an original form that I will now accept or propose for imitation. We know that in all walks of life if I have a mold, here is a mold into which some molten metal is poured to form some casting. Well now, do I have a mold? I am told in scripture that he prepared the mold for all of us, but we must first be reduced to that molten state. Is that really true? Can I be reduced to a molten state? Burn this body and I am reduced to dust. Yet to cast me into a mold I must be reduced to a molten state, but not by putting it into the dust and not by putting it into the furnace. It is something that happens in man.549 ¶5

Christianity is based upon the claim that a certain series of events happened in which God revealed himself in action for the salvation of man. Is this true? Is this claim of the Christian world true? I tell you from my own personal experience it is true. We have gone astray from it, and we are worshiping something on the outside that never took place. It hasn’t a thing to do with any individual man who ever came into this world. When Paul tells his story, it is the first story told in the New Testament. His work became the first, the original revelation—it preceded the gospels by at least twenty-five years—and it hasn’t a thing to do with what happens to an individual between the cradle and the grave. If the one called Jesus was a carpenter, if he was a mason, a bricklayer, if he was anything, a pimp, it would not concern Paul. What happens to the individual between the cradle and the grave is unimportant; it is what happens in the individual, and what happens in him he cannot share it with another save in words. He can tell it to others, what happened, but he can’t persuade them to accept it.549 ¶6

And so Paul ends his life discussing with anyone who would come to him, as we are told in the last of the Book of Acts, and he spent his days from morning to night discussing the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning that kingdom. And some believed while others disbelieved . And so that is the world in which we live. We simply tell it, what happened to the individual. It is such an unusual thing that the average person will not accept it. It doesn’t make sense. They’re more concerned in the world of Caesar to make an extra dollar. The pressure is on to pay rent, to buy food, shelter, all these things, clothing, and all the pressures of a man. He is more concerned with how to do it, how to meet the obligations of Caesar than to listen to this eternal word which will lift him out of the world of Caesar into the eternal world. For, this is the temporal world…but it is continuous and it goes on and on as though it is forever. It will be forever until one hears the Word of God, responds with faith, accepting it, and then waits in hope…and sets his hope fully upon the grace that is coming to him at the revelation of Jesus Christ within him , where the one being containing all of us fell for a deliberate purpose: to expand beyond what he was prior to the fall.549 ¶7

We did nothing that was wrong to warrant the fall. We agreed to actually come down into the world of death and struggle in the world of death; taking on ourselves these garments of death and be enslaved by them, and then overcoming them in perfect confidence that he who contained us all, which is the one Father who contained all, and we are the sons of the one. As we are told in the Book of Deuteronomy, there will be no more children born in this world than there are according to the number of the sons of God. Not one child can be born in this world that is not actually inhabited by a son of God. The words are—you read it in the 32nd chapter of Deuteronomy—“He has set bounds to the people according to the number of the sons of God,” so that no one can be born who is not actually a garment worn by a son of God. So he can’t leave one of the sons in this world. But the son had to empty himself of everything that was his in order to actually fall with the one being that brings all into the world. That one being is God the Father. He raises us individually as himself, because it takes us all to form the one being that is God the Father.549 ¶8

Now, it’s a pattern. When I speak of Jesus Christ, I do not think of a man. Paul said, “I no longer regard Christ from a human point of view. I once regarded him from the human point of view, but I no longer regard him from a human point of view.” Well, how did he regard him, for here is the first outpouring of the mystery? How did he regard him? He regarded him as a pattern, the pattern man that unfolded in him…and it began with resurrection.549 ¶9

Paul found himself, as I found myself, awakening within the grave. I had no idea until that moment in time on the 20th day of July of 1959 that I was buried in my own skull…as you are buried in your own skull and you don’t know it. But I tell you I prophesy for you. It may happen tonight and I hope it does. But it comes suddenly, unexpectedly. It comes upon you like a storm wind and you are awakened within yourself to find yourself buried, entombed in your skull. Then you emerge from it, you come out of that skull, and that is your birth from above. Which we are told in the Book of John is essential: “Unless you are born from above, you cannot enter the kingdom of God” .549 ¶10

The kingdom of God is simply the new age, spoken of in scripture as “that age” as against “this age.” This age is the age of death, where everything begins and ends in death. “That age” is eternal life, where those who came down into the world of death became victors, they overcame death. They’re victorious and they rise; and upon the one who rises, the same one who fell, is conferred the name of “Lord.” Well, “the Lord” is the name of God. So he was God who came down. You are God when you break the shell and rise. And there is no other being in the world.549 ¶11

So, no matter what a man does, Paul is not concerned. Whether you are a thief by tradition, by your profession—there are those who are a thief by profession—he doesn’t condemn them. There are those that are everything in the world that the world will condemn; he doesn’t condemn them. He doesn’t care what happens to the individual between the cradle and the grave. His only hope is that they will hear his story and believe it, and in believing it then break the shell, and then rise above all this nonsense in the world of Caesar. So he doesn’t really care what happens between, say, birth as we understand it and death as we understand it. He is only concerned about telling the story.549 ¶12

Now he said, “The story was told to us as it was to them, but it did not benefit them because it was not received with faith in the hearers.” They heard it but they discounted it and they did not believe it. They believe in this world and getting better and better intellectually, and more and more financially.549 ¶13

And so I read the story concerning Russell, Lord Russell. Bertrand Russell, you know him. He is very proud of the fact he calls himself a socialist, but don’t for one moment ever discount the fact that he is very proud of being Lord Russell. He is an Earl and very proud of that fact, although he will claim that he is a grand socialist and atheist. These are his words and I quote them, “I regard religion as a disease born of fear, a source of untold misery to the human race.” That is Lord Russell. He is now pushing 100 and he has not vetoed that statement or in any way modified it. He simply believes in it. Then H. G. Wells, also receiving all the honors of the world, said, “Christianity…” and you know the famous statement but he changed it to suit his purpose. You’ve heard the statement “the ever present help in time of trouble.” He calls it “the ever absent help in time of trouble.” Now these men receive all the honors of the world conferred upon them and they love it. They are still seeking more. One is gone from this world and one is doting at the age of…well, why shouldn’t he…at the age of 100. He sees nothing wrong in killing twenty million people in Russia, but he sees everything wrong with the destruction of 100,000 in Viet Nam. He sees nothing wrong with the horrible slaughter that Stalin did in the world, but he sees everything wrong in America because we took over the British Empire. We didn’t claim the part, we set them free, and now they are as much a colony of America today, little England, as America, this fabulous land, was a colony once of England. He can’t see his own prejudice. He can’t see his venom against this land is based upon his Lordship is no more, because we in this country look upon all these titles as so many silly little things. It’s like Alice in wonderland. But he can’t stand it, because he’s a grand socialist…but don’t you fail to recognize the fact that he is Earl, he is Lord, Lord Russell. So to him religion is a disease born of fear.549 ¶14

Well, I tell you, it is not a disease. Yes there are numberless false interpretations of the great mystery. Paul tells us himself, he didn’t know, he thought Christ was a man, a little man who came into the world and claimed that he was the Messiah to save the world. But then it was revealed in him in a series of supernatural experiences. For, Christianity is based upon the claim that a certain series of supernatural events happened in which God revealed himself in action for the salvation of man. Then he realized that these series of events spelled out the pattern man and the pattern man was Christ, and it was no other Christ. Christ was not a little man. Christ is the pattern man buried in every child born of woman, and it takes all the blows of the world to reduce us to that liquid state. And it is, may I tell you, a liquid state.549 ¶15

The first unfolding is the awakening within the grave. The grave is not in some cemetery, the grave is your own wonderful body; but the location of that grave is your skull and that’s where you are buried. And the day will come and a storm wind will awaken you. There is in the Talmud, the Jerusalem Talmud, a tradition that the Messiah was born in Bethlehem the night of the destruction of Jerusalem, and he was carried away by a storm wind. It’s a tradition of the great Talmud. I tell you it is true, it is a storm wind that possesses you…something so fantastic that you can’t quite describe it. I can’t describe it save to tell you that you reverberate from head to toe, and you feel the whole thing is coming apart, the whole body is being shattered. But you aren’t shattered, you simply awaken. Something happens in you and all of a sudden you are awakening. Naturally you expect to awaken where you have awakened day after day as long as you live…but it isn’t so. You awake as you’ve never awakened before and you awaken in your skull. There you find that the skull is a tomb and you are in that tomb and it is sealed. Then you come out. You actually force yourself out of that tomb and come out as you came out of a womb; but this is the womb from above, rather than the womb from below. For you must be born from above; for unless you are born from above you cannot inherit the kingdom of God and you can’t enter it. So you come out from above.549 ¶16

And then the entire imagery as told us in scripture surrounds you…witnesses to the event. You are told that the angel of the Lord said to those who are going to be witnesses, “Go and you will find it…God is born this day in Bethlehem”…and the proof of that fact that he is born you’ll find a little babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and he is lying on the floor . They went hastily and they found exactly what they were told.549 ¶17

But he who was born was unseen by those who witnessed the sign of his birth. They couldn’t see him because now he is Spirit. God is Spirit, therefore, God is born…and God cannot be seen by mortal eye. So God is born. They couldn’t see him, but he detected every thought of theirs as though their thoughts were objective to him. He didn’t have to speak it as they were all completely outside, just as though they had voiced what they had not spoken. And yet they began to speak…he heard every word they had to say, and he, the invisible one that was born, the sign of his birth was there and it was carried away by a storm wind. The wind was fantastic, an unearthly wind.549 ¶18

Now he is God, and God is God the Father. God the Father if he is father must have a son, and the son stands before him and calls him Father in fulfillment of the prophecy of scripture. Well, the son who is God’s son is calling him Father, revealing to him that he really is God the Father, though still one to return to the limitation of his cross and share it with his brothers to tell them and encourage them what is in store for them. So here, he returns to this state having seen his only begotten son, who is God’s only son, and that son is the consummation. If I took all the generations of men and all of their experiences and personified them, it would be that son proving that he has finished the race. He has completely gone through the entire fight of this world, and now the crown of righteousness is his. He is now ready to receive the crown of salvation because all of the generations he played them. He has played every lovely and unlovely thing in this world, and then he sees it all coalesced and projected into a single youth, beauty beyond measure, and that is his Son calling him Father.549 ¶19

Now the third mighty act shows you how it is reduced to molten metal. And here he finds himself, as told us in the Book of Zechariah, standing upon the Mount of Olives, and then the Mount is split from east to west, and one-half moves northward and one-half moves south. Here, this entire valley…well, he sees the entire…but the Mount of Olives is his body. He didn’t know that before. He read it in scripture, but he didn’t realize the Old Testament is an adumbration…it is simply a forecasting, a foreshadowing, in a not all together conclusive and immediately evident way. It’s simply an adumbration: the complete shadow but not the actual substance. So here, it is told as a mountain, and the mountain, we are told, he stood upon the mountain and the mountain was split from east to west, and one side moved northward and one side moved south. Here he realizes that that whole story is about himself. His body is split from top to bottom, from east to west, and one side moves northward and one side moves southward. And at the base of the body split from top to bottom is a golden, liquid, molten metal. It’s living. He looks at it and he knows it is himself. He fuses with it and up he goes into his skull. The kingdom of heaven, we are told, is within you . He returns now from that state where he was in the world of generation into the world of regeneration, and the whole heaven reverberates like thunder. So here, he returns in a molten state and is cast into that mold which was prepared for him before the foundation of the world. Here now he becomes a living jewel that radiates and reflects the glory of God, and he is the express image of God, and the express image of God is God himself. So, “Let us make man in our image” …that’s the primal wish…so he actually has made him. And the gods…one of the sons—and all together form the God, the Lord—that one has completed his journey.549 ¶20

But because we are all brothers, he is compelled to remain in the world after the event and tell it in the hope that many of his brothers who are still asleep will believe him that Christ of scripture is a pattern. It is not a man separate from himself. It is a pattern, the pattern of salvation.549 ¶21

And there are four mighty acts that form that redemption, and it begins with his awakening within himself. Then comes his discovery of his own fatherhood, who is God the Father, through the Son who calls him Father. Then the splitting of the temple where he is reduced to molten metal, rising up like a serpent and casts himself into the mold prepared for him. And that mold, two years and nine months later, is observed by the Holy Spirit, and he approves of the work done. He descends upon him in bodily form as a dove and smothers him with love. Now he knows that he has filled the entire mold and that it now is shining. It is a glorious living stone in the living body of the risen Christ.549 ¶22

So Christ is the one being who fell containing all within himself. “He chose us in him before the foundation of the world” . And then pre-arranged and agreed to…we agreed to fall with him, all of us because without all of us he couldn’t fall. And that was simply an agreement for expansion beyond, because truth is an ever-expanding illumination. If God now reached the limit of expansion then let him die. But there is no limit to expansion, there is no limit to translucency; there is only a limit to contraction, to opacity. So he put a limit upon contraction which is man, and the limit on opacity which is called doubt and is personified by a thing called the devil. So, when one doubts what he hears, that is only the devil personified. So if I can’t believe it…any more than Bertrand Russell believed it, any more than many of the wise people.549 ¶23

But as Paul said after his revelation: “The wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God…and he takes the weak and confounds the mighty. He takes the foolish and puts to nought the works of the wise” . So we really believe that we are getting wiser and wiser, so we think, and there is no wiser and wiser, save wiser and wiser nonsense. Here, we have gone into Viet Nam with all of our power and we can’t extricate ourselves. Here our present President spoke of this little thing as a fourth-rate power, but he can’t get out…a fourth-rate power. He criticized the previous President for his handling of the problem, how they shot down our planes…the same thing…and what is he doing? He criticized his predecessor for not going in and acting, and he hasn’t gone in and acted. We have mighty power and we can’t use it, just can’t use it. So the wisdom of the world is foolishness in the eyes of God, and he takes all of this nonsense and lets it go on. Let one add upon it and add upon it and give each other medals. So undoubtedly Mr. Russell has unnumbered medals upon his chest that were conferred upon him because he was a great mathematician, and he was this, that and the other. Undoubtedly, a brilliant master of the English tongue, he could match words to thoughts beautifully. Because of that he confuses the world.549 ¶24

And so, Paul could match them too. But he realized after the revelation that that was not what the Bible was about at all. He thought that the coming of Messiah would come from without, until he realized that it all came from within. That one man fell and his own book, the 82nd Psalm, told it: “I say that you are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, you will fall like men and die like men, and you will fall as one man, O princes” . Can you imagine that? There it is in the 82nd Psalm, we’ll fall as one man, all of us. And then he calls us princes. Well, if we are princes then our Father is king. If our Father is the King of Kings then he is he Lord of Lords, and he is the Lord God Jehovah. Now he is raising us to himself so that each becomes fully aware of being God the Father. We are sons destined to be fully aware that we are the Father, for the Father is comprised of all of his sons. Regardless of your present sex, you are a son of God, and in the end you are destined to awaken as God the Father.549 ¶25

So here in this wonderful story of scripture, which is completely misunderstood, you and I are called upon to hear a story from one who actually was sent. I tell you that I was sent. Now how can there be a preacher unless he is sent? Well, the preachers who are preaching today are not sent. They have not yet been awakened, so they are giving you all kinds of stories concerning the interpretation of scripture. I am not. Prior to 1959 I would have, but since 1959 I can’t, for I was called and sent. Only one who was called and incorporated into the body of God is ever sent. And when you are called and actually incorporated into the body of God, it’s like an impression made by a seal on wax or clay, so you come out bearing the image of God…but mortal eye can’t see you.549 ¶26

You simply disintegrate, as all bodies do, and you’ll die before your friends’ eyes. They see you as a mortal being, full of weaknesses and all the limitations of the flesh, and so they are mislead. They can’t hear what you say because of what they see. They see a body disintegrating before their eyes. They see one in need as they are in need, and they can’t believe what they are hearing from you because they are judging from appearances. They can’t quite understand that God does not see as man sees. Man sees the outward man; God sees the inner man and the inner man has been impressed upon God like a great seal upon wax. When he returns to his little body that will continue to disintegrate, he is unseen by mortal eye. But if you could see him, he is radiating and reflecting the glory of God and he is the express image of the person that is God. But only those whose eyes are open could ever see it. They could never see it with mortal eyes. They could only see the body slowly disintegrating before their eyes.549 ¶27

But I promise you who hear me—and I hope you receive it—no matter how young you are in this world it isn’t long before you depart this world. Don’t be afraid, you’ll be restored to life in a world just like this to continue your journey. But if you actually believe it and hear it, you will not see me in that world. I will not be in that world, but you will know of me. They’ll be talking there where you will go of the work that I did here, because I will not be there. I have left the world of death, only waiting for the moment when this little garment is taken off. I will not be restored to this world of mortality. “I have finished the race, I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, and now there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness” . Into that I go, but I’ll be there waiting for everyone in this world, because we’re all brothers, and all must come into that union and be the one being that came down bearing all.549 ¶28

Now mark my words, I am not fooling you…it isn’t long to wait. No matter how young you are in this world, it isn’t long to take off this garment to find yourself restored. And you’ll find many of your friends who have gone before who will come after, and they’ll be in a world terrestrial just like this, laboring in a world just like we do here. Possibly in a different profession, but you will labor. You will say “Where is he who taught us?” You won’t see me, but eventually you will because you’ll come where I am. I tell you I’m going to where you cannot now come but you will come, for everyone will come there. For everyone will awaken as God the Father…everyone in this world.549 ¶29

Now I’m not trying to persuade you to change your attitude for one moment concerning the speaker. I am telling you what I know. I am not manufacturing it. I did not receive it from a man. Just like Paul, no man taught it to me. I didn’t get it from man; it came through a revelation of the true nature of salvation…something entirely different. Salvation: not a man saving me, but a pattern man buried in me that awakens in me. And when he awakens in me, he awakens in the first-person, singular, present-tense experience. I am having the experience and then I know who he is. I was taught to believe he was another, but when he awakens in me I realize I am he. Now, remain in the world long enough just to share it and tell it.549 ¶30

So the unknown author of the Book of Hebrews: “Holy brethren,” he said, “look to Jesus, the apostle, the high priest of our confession” . Holy brethren he calls everyone he addresses…we now are sharers in the great gift. Let me now look to Jesus the apostle. Well, the apostle is the one who is called first and then sent. Now, he speaks of him as the only apostle. He’s right. Everyone who is called is Jesus, because your true name in the end is Jesus. That’s who you really are. He calls the apostle and then sends him, for the apostle is one who is sent. Sent to do what? To tell the story of salvation, that’s all…to tell the gospel, the good news.549 ¶31

But not everyone who hears it responds with faith. Many hear it and discount it. They are far more interested in the honors of men, and tonight if you told it to many of the prominent people in the world, they would be completely disinterested. They are not interested. They may have fifty million dollars and their interest is not fifty million but a hundred million. They may be eighty years old when they hear the story, but they still want more of what they must leave behind. They won’t take it with them as you know. They will enter a world just like this, devoid of what they have compiled and built here, and cast in a role best suited for the work yet to be done in them by the son of God who is wearing that garment. So he may cast them in a role from a fifty million dollar surplus into shining shoes or cleaning latrines. It’s the best that could be done for them for the work yet to be done in them. And they’re right in this world and the world is just like this.549 ¶32

May I tell you, I’m speaking from experience, I am not theorizing. But how can I take you with me when I sit on a chair and suddenly I’m unexpectedly…something is happening in me and I’m beginning to see what I should not see. I am seeing a world that is real, just like this, and then consciousness follows vision and I step into that world. Here I’m in a world just like this, then it closes upon me, and this world is shut out. Here I am exploring a world just like this. To return to this world…and when I was in that world my body was real. It was seen by others and heard by others, but it was body just like this. You ask yourself a thousand questions…well, if in that world I had a body just like this and yet those who knew I sat on a chair saw that body sound asleep, then how did I get that body? That’s how you get the body when you die here. That body was just as real to me and to those who saw me and heard me as the body that you now see. So this body if destroyed would not have destroyed that body that was in that world. It was just as real.549 ¶33

And so “you cut down the oak by the axe and the little lamb is slain by the knife, but their forms eternal remain forever and they are simply reproduced by the seed of contemplative thought.” When I stepped into that world I knew what I was. I was a man called Neville. I was so aware of being Neville I clothed myself in the body that was Neville. Yet I knew, clothed as I was in that body, that there was a body that others knew to be Neville that was sound asleep on a chair, or reclining on a bed. And here I am still Neville, clothed as Neville, fully conscious of being Neville. How did it happen? It came by the seed of contemplative thought.549 ¶34

So when you die here, you actually remold yourself in the likeness that you know, only reduce it in age, and you take it back not to an infant, you take it back to what pleases you. What would please the average person in this world? To be twenty with the same intelligence that he has when is eighty. So if I could only be twenty with what I know as a man who is eighty, wouldn’t that be marvelous! Well, you do it. You return it by the seed of contemplative thought. Who does it? The God in you does it. So you return, not through the womb of a woman but by your own being of contemplative thought. And so, that seems to be the ideal age that man returns to, because that to him seems to be, “If I only had more time what I could accomplish.” And he returns to that age and he is exactly what he wants to be. He is not sans teeth, sans eyes, sans anything. He has all that he wanted which he lost when he struck the age of seventy. He was without eyes, without teeth, without all things when he struck seventy. But not when he goes back and he is clothed and he is perfect, with everything that was missing while he was here as they simply cremated the body.549 ¶35

And then he goes on in that world just as he does here, and he matures, and he gets older and older, until that moment in time when there is that eruption in him which is the pattern man that is buried within him…which is God. Then that pattern unfolds within him. And when it does and completes it, he leaves this world permanently, and returns to the one that is awaiting all. That one body which is “the one body, the one Spirit, the one Lord, the one God and Father of all” and all must come into it.549 ¶36

So he simply now looks upon the world he has left behind, with all of his brothers clothed male and female, and contemplates them, waiting for them to awaken as he awoke.549 ¶37

Now let us go into the Silence.549 ¶38

* * * Now are there any questions, please?549 ¶39

Well, if there aren’t any questions, we are here every Monday and Friday, and will be until June. So thank you. Good night.549 ¶40

A Riddle

The Rev. Dr. Trusler criticized Blake for his abstruseness and said to him that he needed someone to really elucidate his ideas. Blake said to him, “You ought to know that that which is grand is necessarily obscure to the weak.” Then he went on to say that “You also ought to know that what can be made explicit to the idiot isn’t worth my care, and that the wisest of the ancients considered that what was not too explicit fittest for instruction, for it rouses the faculties to act.” Then he asked the Rev. Dr. Trusler this question, “Why is it that the Bible is more entertaining and instructive than any book? Is it not because it is addressed to the Imagination, which is spiritual sensation, and only but immediately to the understanding or reason?”547 ¶1

Now tonight, we will ask a question based upon scripture. It’s a riddle and the riddle is this: “What is it that becomes his own grandson and vice versa?” How is it that that which is called the Divine Creator, who created me, is my child? How can the Divine Creator, my father, be my child? Now we’ll take the riddle and show you how these parts are put together. It’s not addressed to those to whom you must take it apart and show it in little detail; it’s addressed to the human Imagination. I doubt that any logical, reasoning mind could unravel it; it has to be revealed. When it’s revealed you stand amazed at the statements as told in scripture.547 ¶2

Now here, we go back to three passages from the Book of Isaiah. The 7th chapter is the first. It is translated in some translations “a virgin” and in others simply “a young woman, a maiden.” “A maiden will conceive and bring forth a son.” Now this will be a sign you are told, and it is that the Lord will give you a sign, and the sign is this: a maiden will conceive and bring forth a son and will call his name Immanuel. Immanuel is translated as “God with us”; it is better rendered, “God is in us” as confirmed in the New Testament, “The kingdom of God is within you.” So it is not “God with us” as something on the outside, but is “God in us” that is the true interpretation of the word Immanuel. “And she’ll call his name Immanuel.”547 ¶3

Now we pass on to the 9th chapter and here we read “Unto us a child is born…and his name shall be called the Everlasting Father.” Here, to us—to us the human personalities—and yet what we bring forth as a child his name is Everlasting Father. I am bringing forth that which created myself. The Everlasting Father and the child are now told to be one. His name is Everlasting Father, and the Everlasting Father is the self-existent, the ever-creating being that created the entire universe and sustains it. Yet I am told I bring him forth…I bring him forth as my child. My child is my Father. That is what is implied in the statement.547 ¶4

Now we go another two chapters into the 11th, and here we find in the 11th chapter “And there shall come forth out of Jesse a stem…and out of the stem will come a branch…and this branch will be the ruler of all.” Out of Jesse will come a stem and out of the stem will come a branch, and this branch is ruler of all. The solution of the riddle you will find in the names. The word Jesse means “I AM,” the eternal everlasting name of God. Now we are told, out of Jesse comes the stem…well, Jesse’s son is David as told us in scripture. So here we now find David. And now out of David comes a branch, and the branch is one with his grandfather.547 ¶5

Now in the New Testament the same riddle is proposed, but not answered: how can they say that the Christ is the son of David when David in the Spirit calls him Lord? No one answered…it’s simply stated to describe in the 20th chapter of the Book of Luke, you read it in the 41st and the 44th verses. “How is it that they say”—meaning the scribes say, the wise men say that David—“the Christ is the son of David when David in the Spirit calls him Lord”…calls him “my Father?”547 ¶6

Now here, we will take these passages and put them together. Here we find first the name of the son is Immanuel, which is “God is in us.” That’s the name of the son. The name of the Father is David…and David is “the beloved.” The name of the grandfather is Jesse and Jesse is “I AM,” the everlasting God, the everlasting Father. Here we find these three separate generations as it were. And then we find that the son is one with the grandfather and the grandfather and the grandson are one. That is what you find in scripture.547 ¶7

Now who will un-riddle the riddle? Then we come back now to David. Well then, what is David? Who is David? He’s called “the beloved.” I tell you now not from any logical reasoning, because Truth is revealed. It is not logically unraveled, not logically proven at all. It is revealed and were it not revealed to me I wouldn’t know, any more than anyone in the world would know unless it was revealed to them. So I’m sharing with you the revelation: David is all of the generations of humanity, but all of them, fused together into a single being, and that single being is personified as one youth, an eternal being, and the beloved of the eternal Father. Out of him he begets himself.547 ¶8

The whole drama is nothing more than the reproducing of the Divine Imagination in the human Imagination, that’s all that it is. A constant reproducing of itself, for there’s not a thing in the world but God. He’s reproducing himself in every being in the world. But it takes something in which he reproduces himself and that is humanity. Humanity is the mask that he wears. The sum total of all the experiences of men fused into one single whole and that whole personified comes out as a youth and the youth is David. So humanity in that sense is his son. But out of humanity comes God, which would be the grandson and the grandson is one with the grandfather. You are the grandfather.547 ¶9

This is a riddle, and only the indolent mind would fail to respond to the challenge: what is it that actually becomes its own grandson, and the grandson becomes the grandfather, and they are one? So here we find the three stages. God is begetting himself on humanity and humanity does his will. “I have found in David a man after my own heart, who will do all my will.” So man is completely under the control of this Supreme Being and man does all his will, and he begets on man his grandson. Man becomes the son, and man’s child is his grandson; but the grandson and the grandfather are one, and you are both. You are what you begot and you are the begetter.547 ¶10

So you come out and you are God the Father, and you look now on humanity, personified as David, and David calls you Father; because what David brought forth is only himself, the begetter. The grandfather and the grandson are one. You, humanity, are that on which it’s begotten. But when you can see humanity gathered together into one single being and personified, it’s David; and David calls you Father, then you are the grandfather and the grandson who really are one.547 ¶11

I do not say that this is the easiest thing in the world for man to grasp, but I’m telling you it is true. It is a fantastic miracle that takes place. It is the riddle of riddles. So then he asks the question, “Why do they say that Christ is the son of David when David in the Spirit calls him Lord?”547 ¶12

So here, I am bringing forth, and brought forth, the child. I am told that “I will give you a sign and this shall be a sign, a maiden will bring forth a son, and she’ll call his name Immanuel (God is in us).” What came out as a child that is a sign is “God is in us.” Now we move over to the 9th chapter and we find “Unto us a child is born.” Here is this wonderful child and his name is “Everlasting Father.” You mean the child is Everlasting Father? Yes. So he begot through me his own grandchild. I am his son, but now he’s going to raise me…I begot his grandchild. And then his grandchild stands before me…it is my son and he is his grandfather, and I am looking at him, and I see David, and David which is the being out of which it came, therefore, who am I? I am the grandfather. And the grandfather and the grandson are one.547 ¶13

I am not telling you this is the easiest thing in the world to grasp, but I thought this is time for you to hear it. We have reached the point in time for you to hear it…that the grandfather and the grandson are one. These are the three as named. First, out of Jesse—Jesse means I AM, the eternal name of God the Father, the Everlasting Father—will come a stem. Well, Jesse’s stem is called David. All right, we’ll call David humanity. And then out of David will come a branch and that is called Christ.547 ¶14

Now Jesus asked the question, “What do you think of the Christ?” How can scribes say that he is the son of David when David in the Spirit calls him Lord? By then he is the grandfather, and as the grandfather he is the father of David, so the grandson and the grandfather are one. David is that on which he molds himself and brings out himself; and then raises you, the individualized you out of which it came, to himself. So you are the grandfather and the grandson. And then humanity remains on which to mold himself throughout eternity. Humanity is simply David.547 ¶15

If all the experiences of man could be gathered together and fused into one single whole and that concentrated time projected into a single being, it would appear before you as an eternal youth. And you don’t have to ask anyone his name, his name is David. But he represents all the experiences of humanity, but all of them, fused into a single whole, and that single whole projected and personified is David. So you’ve gone through, or you will go through, all the experiences of humanity. And when you’ve gone through it, you’ll bring forth the son, your son. And your son is but the grandson of God the Father, and he and his grandfather are one. You then become the grandfather and you are God himself!547 ¶16

The eternal divine imagining is reproducing itself in human imagining, so that the “I am” of man is one with the universal I AM. There can’t be any other…there is no other…there is nothing but God. So all the horrors that you see in the world and all the frightfulness that you experience, and have experienced, or may experience, it all adds up to the birth of the wonder child. “Unto us”—to us—“a child is born.”547 ¶17

So here, we find three generations. Here we find Jesse, the universal I AM; and here we find the “us,” a human personality—to us is born…we have the experience of what?—of this wonder child. But his name bear in mind is Everlasting Father. You mean, how can I, begotten of the Eternal Father, produce the Father? That’s what I have to do, I bring forth, because he can’t beget anything but himself. So I beget the Eternal Father. And then, having begotten the Eternal Father, I have the experience of this glorious son David who made it possible. So I became humanity that I may beget myself.547 ¶18

Humanity remains…no matter what horrors you have heard of humanity, no matter what things you have read about it, and the history of humanity is horrible, but it took all these things to produce a son which was the grandson of the Eternal Father…and the grandson and the grandfather are one. The son remains humanity and humanity condensed into a single being is David.547 ¶19

I hope you will dwell upon it. I’m not telling you it is the easiest thing in the world for you to grasp, but I thought this is full time to tell the riddle. For there are many things to be said and time is short. But here, this is the riddle: the Eternal Being, who is God the Father, entered into the eternal structure of the world…for that’s humanity. Man as you see him is part of the eternal structure of the world and on it he is reproducing himself in this part of the eternal structure of the world. When he brings out his likeness, it’s his grandson. Then the grandson said, “David called me Lord,” and the Lord is David’s Father. Therefore the grandson, the Christ, was called the Lord by David and therefore he’s one with his grandfather, the identical image of his grandfather, and one with it. Then he looks out and David calls him Lord, so he is one with the eternal Everlasting Father.547 ¶20

So it’s only the search for the Father that is taking place in this world and there is nothing but God the Father. So I am not saying that it is the easiest thing for you to hear tonight. I am quite sure that most of us here tonight are not here for the first time and you’re fully aware of what I’ve been trying to say over the years. So it should not be difficult for you to simply dwell upon it and sense it until it actually is revealed to you by a wonderful mystical experience. It will be revealed to you and you will be the eternal God, God the Father. For the universal I AM and your I am are not two I AM’s; it’s the same I AM. So he’s bringing forward himself by molding himself upon that part of eternity which is the human family. And it’s a very painful process to bring out his likeness, to reproduce himself the Divine Imagination in the human Imagination. There’s no better way to do it than to put it in this manner.547 ¶21

So these three passages in the 7th, 9th and 11th chapters of Isaiah and then the 20th chapter of Luke all propound the identical riddle. The riddle put into our language would be: what is it that becomes its own grandson and how is it that the grandson is one with the grandfather? How can that which begot me actually become my child and in becoming my child, raise me to my begetter who is God the Father? And then to look back on humanity and all the experiences of humanity fused into a single being standing before me and calling me Father? So you dwell upon it.547 ¶22

It’s not the easiest thing to grasp, but we’re going to give you lots of time to challenge me tonight or to ask questions. You’ll find this most stimulating, and far from being not practical you will find it the most practical thing that you’ve ever heard. Far more exciting than anything you heard or read about today on TV, radio or in papers, for not a thing said this day by any person in the world would compare to it. All the plots and plans of men concerning bringing this war to an end and all these things is all part of a divine plan. The plan is not the wars and the peace as the world sees it but to bring out himself—he’s only begetting himself. Divine Imagination is reproducing himself in the human Imagination; and they are not two, they are one. They differ only in the degree of intensity.547 ¶23

But the purpose of it all is that you will be able to wish anything and realize it. “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.” That, you’ll ask for anything and realize it, that’s the purpose of the entire scheme. That you will not be a slave of anything in this world, not be afraid of anything, for you’ll know you are one with the Creator of the universe and that you can ask and expect instantaneous return as far as the answer goes. That comes with the complete revelation of what I have told you tonight. Now, you will not find it spelled out as I have this night to you, but you can read scripture and having heard my story over and over again you will follow my argument.547 ¶24

So the problem is and the riddle is, what is it that becomes its own grandfather and vice versa…the grandson becomes its own grandfather? And then, if this is so, where is that father of the grandson and where does he fit in? His name is David. And you’ll find out when you bring forth the wonder child, whose name is Everlasting Father. You wake a few months later to find that you instead of being his son you are the father of David. So instead of coming out of humanity as humanity’s son, which you did, for it took humanity and all the horrors that God the real Father experienced to produce his being, his likeness…and his likeness is himself. So then you awake as God the Eternal Father.547 ¶25

Humanity remains; but this time not a multitude of faces, only one face. All the faces put together and fused into one body stands before you and David calls you “my Lord.” So how then can he be David’s son when David in the Spirit calls him “my Lord”? You follow? I hope so. If you haven’t followed it, I do hope that many of you have taken it down on the tape and you’ll play it over and over. For it is a profound truth and I think nothing deeper in scripture will come to you. For this is the story of scripture.547 ¶26

So Blake was perfectly right, “Why is the Bible more entertaining and more instructive than any book? Is it not because it is addressed to the Imagination, which is spiritual sensation, and only immediately to the understanding or reason? Therefore, what can be made explicit to the idiot is not worth my care. And the ancients, the wisest of the ancients, consider what was not too explicit fittest for instruction because it rouses the faculties to act.”547 ¶27

So here comes a riddle and you’ve got to respond to that challenge. Where on earth could it be and how could such a thing happen? How can a grandson become his own grandfather? For that is what he’s telling us in these three passages of Isaiah and in that passage of Luke. You say that the Christ is the son of David, but I ask you now, how then can he be the son when in the spirit David calls him “my Lord”? If he’s the son of David and David’s father is “my Lord” and David in the Spirit calls him not “my son” but “my Lord,” then he is his own grandfather. Do you get it? You dwell upon it! And maybe this night because it’s been given to you this night something may happen. Something may explode within you to lead you to an understanding of it. But the full understanding comes when you experience it, when the whole thing unfolds within you like a wonderful unfolding flower; and there is only the Eternal God unfolding in humanity.547 ¶28

And you’ll find these three generations constantly throughout scripture. The Book of Matthew, which begins our New Testament, begins with three generations: “This is the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.” Three generations…doesn’t state any more. Then it begins to project into the genealogy, the generations. But the names now, Abraham is “the father of multitudes”…that’s all that it states. That’s what the word means, “father of multitudes,” nothing but. Here we find David in the middle again; he is the father of Jesus Christ, he is the Beloved, that human being that brought forth the image of God. The image of God is called Jesus Christ, but the image of God and God are one, so it goes back now to the grandfather.547 ¶29

So tonight, although it may seem profoundly spiritual, I must repeat what I’ve said time and time again, whatever is most profoundly spiritual will prove in time to be the most directly practical. Instead of wrestling with a problem, you dwell upon these wonderful revealed truths and the problem solves itself. Instead of going to bed and bursting a blood vessel to find out how you’re going to meet this, that and the other commitment, you go to bed dwelling upon these, and the commitments are met. Your Father knows what you have need of: “Seek first the kingdom of heaven and all these will be added unto you.” They will all be added. While you sleep, things will happen in your world. While you dwell upon these profound thoughts of revealed Truth everything will come!547 ¶30

You sit down to work out one problem and you simply involve yourself with another and another. But dwell upon revealed Truth and then all these things that you need in this world—your Father knows you need shelter, that you need food, that you need clothing, that you need all these things. But you dwell upon his Word and try to wrestle with his conundrums, these wonderful, well, riddles. You may not unravel them. But dwell upon what I’ve told you tonight because I’m telling you what I know from experience. I did not arrive at these by any logic in the world. I am not trained in logic, I’m not a philosopher. I simply am one in whom the Word unfolded, completely unfolded. There isn’t a thing else that I can think of in scripture that hasn’t unfolded within me. But you’re told, in time you’ll be urged to tell it, in good time.547 ¶31

So you tell it at a certain moment in time and you who hear it this night, you dwell upon it…that you are giving birth to Christ. And Jesus Christ—who will be your son because he came out of you, that is, the wonderful child—is one with your Father, who would have to be his grandfather. He is one with your Father and as he came out of you, and he’s one with his grandfather, which is your Father; finally you awaken to find you are the Everlasting Father. Because now you look down upon yourself called man, which is now personified as David, and David calls you Father.547 ¶32

Now that we may have a full evening of questions, let us go into the Silence. * * *547 ¶33

Well, my dears, it’s almost the time and I do hope that you listened attentively tonight, because really you will find it something so altogether wonderful when you dwell upon it: what you are destined to awaken to. You are destined to awaken to the fact that you are the Everlasting God who created the whole vast universe, brought it into being, and you sustain it! Good night.547 ¶44

Q and A

In regard to what you said about the grandfather and grandson, does this equate with Mary conceiving of the invisible Father and bringing forth a son, and is man then Mary?547 ¶34

Speaker

Yes. “I am Mary and birth to God must give if I in blessedness for now and evermore would live.” Think of humanity as feminine…the soul of man…think upon it as the bride of the Lord: “My Maker is my husband” as told us in Isaiah. Then he will cleave to me, leaving all, and become one with me. He leaves all and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh. So I am Mary. I said that one night here, oh, about two years ago, and one took issue with me and he’s never returned. Perfectly all right. He will wake one day and he will know that he is Mary and he has to bring forth the Christ child. But you’re told in the 7th chapter of Isaiah, “And the Lord will give you a sign.” A woman—translated a maiden, a virgin—but the word simply means a young woman, whether she is a virgin or not. Who in the world is a virgin if they’ve ever had a mental affair with the opposite? Who in the world is a virgin when you are told in scripture it’s all psychological? You are told that you should never lust after another, but anyone who lusts after another has already committed the act in his heart with her. Therefore, it is a psychological motion. If I want but restrain the impulse, impulse was the act. So you can call it a virgin or a young woman, but “I am Mary and birth to God must give if I in blessedness for now and evermore would live.” And so I brought forth the child…and only Mary brings forth the child, so I am Mary. Mary is the bride of the Holy Spirit who brought forth the child, and the child and the Holy Spirit are one. The child, my son, and his grandfather are one. But by then when I bring forth the son, he has finished his work in me, and the cleavage with me, on me, has been complete and we aren’t two now, we are one. So, the three become one. And yet humanity remains that upon which I can continue to mold myself. It’s the Divine Imagination reproducing itself upon humanity, and in the end you will actually come out as God the Everlasting Father.547 ¶35

Speaker

Is there in scripture passages that bear witness to your experience of seeing David that spells out he is the symbol of humanity?547 ¶36

Speaker

Not in the sense that I have explained it. But it is, “I have found David and he has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father’” in the 89th Psalm. There are certain words in scripture that are not translated. If you translate them, go to the Concordance and look them up. You’ll find one word used only once in the 16th chapter of 1st Corinthians and it is left just as it is. Some take the word before it, which is anathema, which translated means “a curse” and join it to that word. But then you think that the original manuscripts had no punctuation marks. In fact they had no vowels; they were all consonants and not punctuated, no sentences, no paragraphs, no chapters. That was done centuries later. So the King James Version takes the word and puts a period after these two and leaves the word anathema and the word maranatha which simply means in the Revised Standard Version “our Lord has come” . It has come, it actually has happened, this whole thing has happened. That’s how he ends his first letter to the Corinthians. Just about the verse before the benediction comes this word un-translated in the King James Version but translated in the Revised Standard Version. You shouldn’t join it to anathema, for if you do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ anathema means “be ye cursed,” because you will be by not believing in this eternal story of salvation. But then the next word should be something entirely different beginning the sentence which means “Our Lord has come.” It has actually happened! That which was promised or foreseen throughout the centuries has finally happened. Now some will translate it instead of saying “our Lord has come,” they will translate it like the one in the end of Revelation, “Come Lord Jesus.” Meaning it has not yet, but please, we’re hopeful. It’s the great hope of man. But I know from my own experience it has come and it’s continuing to come in the lives of humanity, because it can’t fail. Everyone is simply being worked on where God the Father, the Everlasting Father is begetting himself in man. When he begets himself he’s completed the work. When it comes out it is the Christ child. And what is begotten is one with the begetter; and that out of which it was begotten was his bride. Then she awakes without any change of identity, and she is God the Father. Then humanity stands before her…fused together into a single being, and that single being is a youth, the eternal youth called David. It’s all there but not spelled out. As Blake said, “If it could be made explicit to the idiot then it isn’t worth my care.” Then he said, “The wisest of the ancients consider what was not too explicit fittest for instruction, because it rouses the faculties to act.” But if you take it just as a little story, a story that is a secular story, well then, anyone can write scripture. But it isn’t that. The whole thing is a hidden book that is completely contained in man, and then suddenly it comes to the surface. Man having gone through hell…luckily our Infinite Father, who we are destined to awaken as, is merciful, and has hidden from us the memory of the horrors through which we have passed. You have only glimpses of the horrors. Sometimes someone threatens a certain thing and then a faint memory returns. It wasn’t a threat in the past, it was a fact…it actually happened to you. I know when I was a boy in Barbados…and he said it quite without taking thought…he was a fisherman, a black fisherman, and little boys in Barbados…there’s no reason for bathing suits or thing of that sort, and I came out of the water in the nude, running toward the other part of the beach where I left my little clothes with a rock on them. He didn’t mean it…he never would for one moment have intended what he said…but suddenly a flash returned that that same event happened to me in the dim past. He said to me, “Come here, I’m going to castrate you!” But memory fades. I recalled it vividly at that moment and I was scared to death at what he said. But that was an experience of the past that my Father, in whom I have awakened as, in his infinite mercy he hid that memory picture from me until that one little incident revived it. So everything in the world has significance. Everything has significance! And he was perfectly innocent of what he said, he was simply kidding in his own way with a little white boy. I came out of the water and here was this Negro taking care of his nets, he was a fisherman, and getting all the knots out, getting it ready to dry before he would go off to sea the next day to catch fish. Undoubtedly if I asked him at any time for a fish he would throw me a half dozen of them. They were all lovely, wonderful men, so he didn’t intend to hurt me, but he revived a memory. So the whole thing comes back. And in the end, the whole thing comes back and you are God the Father who began the whole thing. For in the end, there can be nothing but God the Father.547 ¶37

Speaker

This is my first visit…how do you view the devil symbolically? I’ve never heard your views.547 ¶38

Speaker

Well, the devil is everything that God is not and God is the only reality, so the devil is not.547 ¶39

Speaker

But in your line of thinking, if we are evolving towards, being awakened to the realization that we are in fact God?547 ¶40

Speaker

Well, put it this way, God is affirmative. We’re told all the promises of God find their yes in him…that’s affirmation. Then negation would be in the devil. When something seems impossible, that is the devil. If I say all things are possible to God but something may not be, well then, that is a devil. So here comes now negation in my world.547 ¶41

Speaker

So anything that negates yourself?547 ¶42

Speaker

Yes, that is the devil, that’s Satan.547 ¶43

Persons Represent States in Scripture

When you are reading the greatest book in the world, the Bible, always bear in mind that the person Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesus, Peter, Paul, any name if they’re in scripture are not there meant as persons: they are states. The name only signifies a state that they represent. If you see them as persons, you will never really understand scripture. They are simply the personification of these eternal states which were revealed to mortal man in a series of divine revelations as they are recorded in scripture. Now tonight, we will take just a few.544 ¶1

Go back now to Blake and his Vision of the Last Judgment, he said…now when he speaks of Satan, Satan is not a person, it’s a state, the state of doubt, the complete un-forgivingness. If they can’t touch it or they can’t see it, then they cannot accept it. So Satan believed that sin was displeasing to God. He ought to know that nothing is displeasing to God but unbelief and eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The combat of good and evil is eating of the tree of knowledge; the combat of truth and error is eating of the tree of life. These are not only universal but particular. Each is personified. So when he speaks of Satan, it’s not a person…bear in mind he’s speaking of a state. It’s an eternal state into which you and I or all may fall where we completely deny a state because it is not in harmony with our senses.544 ¶2

Now when he speaks of truth, he calls it Jesus. And as far as Blake is concerned, and every mystic worthy of the name, a true judgment need not conform to the external fact to which it relates. If I say, “Aren’t they beautiful,” and you see nothing, and yet I am looking at something that I say is beautiful, well, you’ll think maybe Neville had something to drink or maybe he’s just having a little fun. But I am seeing what I would like to see, and so I am now looking at something that is altogether lovely. I place it where I would place it if it were true to my senses. And I persuade myself that it is true and to the degree that I am self-persuaded that it is true it becomes fact. So I discover that a true judgment need not conform to the external fact with which it relates. Satan insists that it must and truth tells us that it need not.544 ¶3

Well, we’ll take truth on a different level tonight. We’ll bring it back to this and then go back into other areas of it. Jesus is called the truth in scripture: “I am the truth. I am the spirit of truth.” “I came out from the Father and I came into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father” . Well, it didn’t make sense, because they knew his physical origin. Here is a man who is making a fantastic claim and there is not a thing to support the claim. In scripture…that is, you’ll find it in the Talmud, not our Bible, but in the Jerusalem Talmud…Messiah is supposed to come suddenly from some concealed state. As it is said, if he is in the world, he does not know it until Elijah first comes and anoints him, and then he will suddenly appear. But he doesn’t know it, even though he may be in the world, until he is first anointed by Elijah, and then he will suddenly appear. That’s what we are told in the Jerusalem Talmud. For the [...] expected was the sudden appearance of Messiah.544 ¶4

Now, it is said in scripture he is the corner stone. He also is the top stone as told in Zechariah: “He shall bring forward the top stone among shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” . Well, it was said that through Moses came the law, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. So here he is the top stone. He’s also the foundation stone, and there is no other foundation stone. A foundation stone contains the whole stone; it contains the plan of a structure, the plan of the edifice, and its purpose, why it is being constructed. There must be a plan and there must be a reason for the edifice. So in the hollowed stone laid as a foundation stone are the documents and the purposes of the building. This structure is the temple of the living God, laid up and built out of living stones, individuals who are redeemed, all built into the living structure.544 ¶5

Now, here in the audience sits a couple. She said, “A week ago last Monday, as I closed my eyes in the Silence, I thanked you for once more explaining the law. I thanked you for explaining the law, and I suddenly said, ‘I know that.’ Then I heard your voice distinctly and you said to me, ‘Do you really know it?’ Now, in the Silence tonight I heard your voice as distinctly as I hear it when you speak outwardly to my outer ear and you said to me, ‘Do you really know it?’ Then I thought, ‘With my surface mind I heard it, but in the depths of my being not really.’ Then I saw a pyramid…with my physical eyes shut I saw this pyramid, but the top stone was missing. About the pyramid was a sphere and above the sphere a crown, a glorious crown. Then each was outlined in a scintillating, moving white light, and then the sphere began to spin; and all became so luminous and so brilliant I thought I would have to close my spiritual eye, for my physical eyes were already closed. It was so intense I thought I would have to close my eye. Then you said as you broke the Silence, ‘Good,’ and I returned to this level of my being. And I haven’t been able to shake the conviction since then that had my inner eye been stronger, I would have seen a being emerging from that light.” Yes, she would have, but it’s not yet time. The being she would have seen would be herself.544 ¶6

“It does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him” . So when Christ appears in man, it is man himself. It is Christ who is buried in man, the only grave that he ever had. That’s the hollowed out stone that is the foundation stone, and it is your own wonderful skull. That’s where Christ is buried: God became man that man may become God. Now when I say man I don’t mean a little man, I mean humanity. Every child born of woman God became or he couldn’t even breathe, he would have no consciousness, nothing. But God actually became as I am that I may be as he is. So when that top stone is [...], and it can’t be until the fullness of time, yes she will see a being emerging from that light and it will be herself as told us in the 1st epistle of John, the 3rd chapter. You read it in the very beginning, “It does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall know him.” Why?—because we shall be like him. You not only will be like him, you will be Jesus Christ…there is nothing but. Christ is the plan of salvation, so forget a man…yet it takes a man to externalize truth. There isn’t a truth but it has also a man, therefore it is man; so scripture is speaking of truth personified.544 ¶7

Man not knowing that thinks, “Well now, he is one little unique man and he is calling himself the truth.” No, truth must take a person to express it. So here, he is the plan of salvation. He said, “I am the way, the truth, the life; no one comes unto the Father, but by me. If you knew me, you would know my Father also” …“For I and my Father are one” . Now you know him and you see him. I have seen the Father? “Show me the Father.” “Have I been so long with you, Philip, and yet you do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how then can you say, ‘Show me the Father’?” . I came out from the Father and he sent me into the world, for what purpose—to bear witness to his written Word. I am now the living word sent into the world to experience the written word so that I may return to him not void. He said, “My word shall not return unto me empty but it shall accomplish that which I purposed and prosper in the thing to which I sent it” .544 ¶8

So he sends me into the world to bear witness to his written Word which is scripture. So here, the Old Testament is an adumbration. It’s an intimation of God’s plan of salvation written in the form of history, the history of Israel. The history of Israel is now actualized in an individual and he is a normal person in the world, perfectly normal, and they all know his physical origin. It’s not what they were looking for; they don’t expect that of Messiah. Messiah will suddenly come out of nowhere and surprise them as a being external to themselves. He wasn’t external at all. He is buried in that hollowed out stone, the skull of man…and he does come suddenly. When his time for awakening takes place, it’s sudden, and it’s all within you, and you are he.544 ¶9

Then everything said of him in scripture unfolds within you in the first-person, singular, present-tense experience. And you tell it…and all of your friends simply smile: “I think he’s touched. I know him, I know his parents, I know his family, I know all about him. And all of a sudden he dares to tell me that what is recorded in scripture as the fulfillment of the Old has happened to him, and he is the one scripture speaks about? Why, that’s impossible!” So then I turn the pages and I read now the 40th Psalm, “In the volume it was all about me,” , but I didn’t know it until it happened, and when it happened in me, then I knew the whole book was about me. Go and tell my brothers now it’s all about you. I am departing this world and I am going to my Father and your Father, I am going to my God and your God because we are one. There is nothing but God. God actually became one in a diversified state, in a seeming many, but you can’t speak of many gods, but it takes them all to form the one God: “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one” . The word is a plural word, one made up of others, made up of the many. So it takes us all united into one being to form the I AM, the Lord.544 ¶10

So when you read it, try to bear in mind no matter what word you see, it has meaning. So you even take a word like Zechariah, as I quoted earlier the 4th chapter of Zechariah, it simply means “Jehovah remembers”…he remembers his covenant, his promise to Israel. Well, we are Israel. Everyone born of woman is destined “to rule as God” for that’s what the word means. Israel is “the man who rules as God.” Not like a god, like a little tyrant of the world, but as God. So here, the shout “Come forward” amidst shouts, and you hear the word ‘Grace, grace to it’ and grace came forward and was brought forward through Jesus Christ. Well, Jesus Christ—forget him now as a little man external to yourself—Christ in you is the hope of glory. “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?”—asked Paul in his 13th chapter of 2nd Corinthians —“Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless, of course, you fail to meet the test.”544 ¶11

You mean he is in me? And all things were made by him? Yes. And without him was not anything made that is made …that goes for the good and the ill? Yes. You mean he can create the unlovely? Yes. Any artist can do that…he doesn’t have to create only the beautiful. He can create anything if he is an artist…and he is the only creator in the world. Well, who is he? He is in me and he creates everything. You mean everything in my world? Yes. Well, I’ll find him and I’ll put him to the test. And then I found him…I found him as my own wonderful human Imagination. That’s who he is. Everything in my world came out of my Imagination. I may not now relate the unlovely things in my world to former imaginal acts, but I can’t deny those that I can relate, and if I can remember an imaginal act and see it unfold in my world and that is a fact, well then, I’ll go back. Though I can’t quite remember it I will go back. Jehovah remembered and Jehovah’s name is I AM. Well, I say “I am”…well, go back and see where I planted these unlovely seeds in my world, as told us in the Book of Jeremiah, the 2nd chapter: “I planted you a perfect seed, O Israel, a pure seed. How did you become degenerate?” What did you do? You went after foreign gods, Baal, and you worshipped foreign gods—the gods being astrology, numerology, or wealthy people, or important people, or all kinds of things outside of self—and God is your own wonderful human Imagination. You sought other causes of the phenomena of your life and not the only cause that is God, and God is your own wonderful human Imagination. I planted you a pure seed. How, O Israel, have you become degenerate, to believe in gods outside of the only God? There is only one God and God is I AM. There is no other God.544 ¶12

And one day you will find him. You will awaken to discover that you are the one and only God. But you’re not going to rub out your brothers, because it’s going to take all your brothers together to form the one God, and when all are formed, the top stone will be put in place. Until then, it can’t be placed there upon this building which is the wonderful structure that is being erected. For the body of God, the temple of God is being erected out of the redeemed of the world…and all must be redeemed.544 ¶13

Now, a lady writes (she’s here tonight) “A dream of mine wakened me at seven. I went into this exquisite jewelry store and I picked up certain items. I picked up a gem, a green one, and I walked out without paying for anything…a thing on this level I wouldn’t dream of doing…and it disturbs me that I could have done that.”544 ¶14

Oh, you should be thrilled beyond measure! On this level you are eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Where you are, my dear—and you ought to know it—you are away beyond this dream of the tree of knowledge. You are eating of the tree of life, and you only fulfilled scripture, the 50th Psalm: “If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine and all within it” — and so I would take it—“The cattle on a thousand hills are mine.” If everything is mine, whose permission do I need to take it? You are already an incurrent eyewitness. You’re not functioning here save when you open your mortal eyes on this world. So you wouldn’t go into Tiffany’s tomorrow and take something out and walk out with it. No, that’s the world of good and evil. We’re all living in this world, eating of the truth of the tree of knowledge, this is right and that is wrong. Here we bind each other and all these are the combats. But in the tree that has only the combat of truth and error…if you are the truth, the whole world is yours, so why would you ask the permission of anyone concerning what you wanted? The hunger of a man is not only for bread, the real hunger of man is for the word of God. “I will send a hunger upon the world; it will not be for bread or a thirst for water, but for the hearing of the word of God,” as told us in the Book of Amos . So the hunger represented by the green jewel, the green being what grows, that which is growing, like the tree; and this is the tree of life, not the tree of good and evil. When you came down to this level you thought it wrong what you did. Yet I bless you for having done it. It was a marvelous experience that you had…something entirely different.544 ¶15

Who knows what is right and what is wrong? No one is going to agree with another; we have different values. What is right for one is wrong for the other, and we came down eating that tree of knowledge. And the only thing that displeases God is simply eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil…and unbelief. “Unless you believe that I am he you die in your sins” . If you think he is the cause of my misfortune, then you will continue in your sin, missing the mark in life. If you know that the only cause of all the phenomena of your life is God, and God’s eternal name is I AM, well then, if you really believe, you will live by it. You will not deny the harvest that is coming that you unknowingly planted. It was not a pleasant harvest that you are going to reap because it was not a pleasant sowing; but you know it couldn’t come unless you sowed it, so you’re going to take it. But promise yourself not to replant it! You will accept it and plant something entirely different, something lovely. But don’t deny there is only one cause and that one cause is your own wonderful human Imagination. That is God and there is no other God.544 ¶16

Scripture teaches no other God. But organized churches have made all kinds of fetishes and they build all these little things…they build their little icons. And people get down and genuflect before some little thing that is made by the human hand in violation of the 2nd Commandment: “Make no graven image unto me” . You can’t go into a church but these monstrous things are all along the wall. If they only had good artists making them, but no, they turn them out as you would turn out things for Disneyland. And here they go and genuflect before some little thing that is a horrible monster of a thing. You go into a home and you see all these little things in their home. I’m speaking from experience, because half of my family are Catholic, half are Protestant, and they have all these things all over their homes. So I am not speaking from what I have heard; I’m speaking from experience. I was raised in the Christian faith as a Protestant, and when my brothers grew up they fell in love with Catholic girls and a third of them married Catholics. But they were far more productive than the Protestants, so we have just as many in the next generation of Catholic children. All had to be raised as Catholics because that was my brothers’ agreement. All right to have children and whatever comes to our world will be raised in the Catholic faith. So they have all the Catholic children. And you go to their homes and here are all these things. I don’t argue with them, because as far as they are concerned this is the personification of Satan.544 ¶17

It’s not what they expected. If I would only go along with them on Sunday mornings and go and do all the silly, little nonsense that they do, wonderful. But when I tell them that suddenly he the only one erupted within me and then I knew who Jesus Christ was, they look at me and say, “I know your origin, your father, your mother.” Certainly you do, but that’s not where I came from. I came just as you are told in the Talmud. I was in concealment, but I didn’t even know it…not until Elisha comes out. Well, who is Elisha that should first come? This body on the outside is John the Baptist and this comes into the world, and it makes every effort to attain salvation by some physical means, like doing violence against its appetites. It goes on a starvation diet, only vegetables, for seven years. Ask a man in the restaurant, “Does this soup have any beef stock in it or chicken stock in it or any meat stock?” and he’s going to tell you no. He’s a liar anyway, because what restaurant worthy of the name isn’t going to have a meat stock in soup? But he satisfies your conscience and you will then order soup. So you are lying to yourself right away, because you know that it has meat stock in it and you really want the soup, so you take it. And then you don’t call it anything but vegetables. So for seven years you get thinner and thinner and weaker and weaker while you are doing violence to yourself. You are young, virile, and desirous of everything that a normal man in this world is desirous of, and you go on a diet of celibacy, and have nightmares. Go into a depression, all completely down in the depths of your own being. And you wonder Why is it is happening to me, I’m such a holy man? I’m so good I’m good for nothing. After seven years of this complete violence to the body, then you awaken. Well, that’s John the Baptist.544 ¶18

He doesn’t come until John is arrested. When John is beheaded then Christ comes into the world…so that’s how the man has to be beheaded. When he is completely arrested and restrained then suddenly out of nowhere he comes. And he who you are looking for suddenly comes…as you are told in scripture, he comes suddenly. No one expected it…certainly you didn’t. You go to sleep normally and suddenly in the wee hours of the morning this thing erupts within you and you find yourself in the tomb. The tomb is your skull. And everything said in scripture about Jesus Christ begins to unfold within you, but you are cast in the role in the first-person singular and present-tense experience. The whole thing unfolds in 1,260 days, just as told in the Book of Daniel and confirmed in the Book of Revelation . It will take 1,260 days.544 ¶19

So you go out and you tell it. You find those who will look and say now he’s a little bit touched. He’s not violent enough to put him away, but he is a bit touched, because here he stands alone pointing the only way to the Father because he has experienced it. When Satan, personified now as error, has the authority of the world behind him; the whole vast world has accepted because all their misinterpretations of scripture are now the traditions of the church. And they go to church every day and worship their misconceptions, their prefabricated misconceptions of scripture. And one awakes within the world and he knows exactly what has happened to him and he sets out to tell it. I’ve gone on TV around the clock, on radio around the clock, with ministers and priests and rabbis, and they look at me as though I am completely strange when I quote their own book for them and say “What does this mean to you?” and then I take their passages one after the other. They don’t want to hear it.544 ¶20

And I say, “Who wrote this?” Well, some prophet wrote it. Well, is it not said that David wrote these words? What words? Then I will quote the 2nd Psalm…is it not said in the 2nd Psalm, “I will tell of the decree of the Lord…he said unto me, ‘Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee.’” . Oh, but Neville, that belongs to Jesus Christ. I said this was 1,000 B.C., this passage is 1,000 B.C. and it is said in the Psalm of David. David tells us in this passage he will tell of the decree of the Lord, and the Lord said unto him, “Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee.” And did he not in Spirit call Jesus “my Lord”? Yes he did. Well then, if he calls him “my Lord” then who is Jesus? Because he is God’s Son and now he is calling Jesus “my Lord,” is he not telling you that he is God? I said to a rabbi this night in New York City that he called me Father and is that not the fulfillment of the 89th Psalm? I have found David and “He has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation’” . There he stands before me calling me Father, well, am I not then the one spoken of in the 20th of Luke when he said to Christ “Thou art my Lord”? They’ll put their hands to their ears to shut out this blasphemy.544 ¶21

The same thing goes through and through the entire scripture. They call him a blasphemer, why? Because he said he came out from God and he said he is God. “I and my Father are one…only I know my Father and you know not your God. My Father is he whom you call God, but I know my Father and you know not your God.” But he didn’t deny him, he said, “You are my God but sound asleep. I’m going now to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” But you are sound asleep. Keep on in the dream until you wake and when you wake the dreamer is God. He is dreaming your life and putting you through all the paces; and in the end when you awake, you and he are one, not two. So he actually became you that you may become as he is.544 ¶22

Now, on the practical side…to prove that it works, try it! Well, how do I put it into the practical side? I first must have a goal in life. I must know what I want…that’s essential. When I know what I want, knowing there is only one cause for the phenomena of life and having discovered that cause as my own wonderful human Imagination, I then conceive a scene that if true would imply the fulfillment of my dream. I reenact it in my mind’s eye, casting myself into the act. I don’t allow myself to be an observer; I’m a participant in the action, in the center of all this because it’s all about me. So I let my friends congratulate me on my good fortune and I accept it without any embarrassment. I accept it, and I enter into the spirit of the scene which would imply the fulfillment of my dream. Then I drop it in confidence that that imaginal act was done by God. Why?—because he did it. What’s his name?—I AM. Well, I did it. Had you arrested my thought in the act of doing it and you would have said to me, “What’re you doing?” I would have said, “I am doing so and so.” That’s when I called upon his name. That’s who did it and that is God…“My name forever and forever” and there is no other name that I will bear, just I AM . And so, if you caught me in my meditation enacting a scene, I would have told you. If you asked me, “What are you doing?” I would have told you what I am doing and I would have said his name…what I am doing. So that was God acting. My imaginal act was the act of God and all things are possible to him and there is no other Creator. So he did it, and so now if I wait patiently and wait in confidence for the thing to externalize itself in my world and it does, then I have found who he is. I have found the cause of creation.544 ¶23

Having found it, tell it to your brothers who are asleep, tell it to all who are waiting patiently for some change in their world and they’re not activating anything. They’re waiting, hoping something is going to happen on the outside and it doesn’t. Not a thing happens on the outside…you have to meet him. And if you don’t, you’re going to read the morning paper and get more and more afraid, and you’re doing something anyway because as you react to what you read you are setting it in motion. Or you turn on TV or turn on the radio, and you react to what you hear and see, that is an imaginal act, and you simply people your world with the unlovely things in the world. When they come into view for you to reap the harvest, you can’t relate what you are seeing to what you did; but you had to have done it or you couldn’t now reap it. Everything in the world is man pushed out…for God and man are one.544 ¶24

So when you read scripture in the future, try to bear in mind if you don’t have a concordance, try some way of getting the true meaning of the words. When you read the word Moses it’s not just a man; there are millions of Moses in the world but that is not the Moses of scripture. Moses is the personification of a state, and the word Moses is simply the ancient Egyptian verb meaning “to be born.” That’s what it means. You can take the word and get all kinds of lovely thoughts out of it—Mem Shin He—all right, “to draw out.” I can turn it around and get the word “name” out of it. I take the middle letter Shin and put that first, Shema, and get “heaven” out of it. So I’m drawing something out of self, and it’s coming out of heaven, and heaven is within me. So you can put it in that form, but the word is simply the old perfective of the Egyptian verb “to be born.” Something is to be born; therefore, it is an adumbration. What is to be born? That which is called the Word itself is to be born…the living Word that interprets the Old.544 ¶25

So the New is simply the fulfillment of the Old and not the other way around. The New Testament simply fulfills the Old. There would be no New without the Old, and there couldn’t be a New unless there was an Old. So the Old presents it, but in an intimation, an intimation of God’s plan. The New simply interprets, it fulfills; but man has misunderstood the interpretation and they all worship the state together…started worshipping Jesus, Peter, Paul, and all these states. They are states in the Old and states in the New, but the individual man interprets within himself the whole thing. The whole thing erupts within you and he is scripture. “He sent me into the world”…sent what? He sent his Word. Well, I am his Word and he commanded me, “Time to act!” Then I am sent into the world not knowing what it is all about, only knowing what happened, the vivid, vivid experience of what happened. I looked into the face of this infinite being of love, all love, and then he embraced me, and we fused and became one being. Now being a protean being, he now is God in infinite might, and as infinite might he commanded me, “Time to act!” And I am hurled out of that back into this little garment not knowing what it’s all about. Well, I can’t rub out the experience. I could no more deny that experience than I could the simplest act of my senses. And that happened thirty-odd years ago, back in 1929.544 ¶26

Thirty years later the work that he hurled, which is myself, erupted to interpret scripture. I began to fulfill scripture within myself. And then I tell it to those who will listen and no one comes that my Father hasn’t brought him. So he draws us one by one to hear his Word as it unfolded within the one that he sent, and some believe it and some don’t believe it. He has no way of knowing who believes it and who doesn’t believe it…only in the visions of those who come. He can tell from the visions those who accepted it. But he departs this world to return not to a restored society like this, but into the body of the risen Lord. No more restoration as all people are when they die here. They are restored in a world just like this, terrestrial just like this, with all of the problems just as we have them. But those who are redeemed, who have fulfilled the Word, return as witnesses to his Word, and they are incorporated into the one body. For in the end, there is only one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all.544 ¶27

Now let us go into the Silence. * * *544 ¶28

Q and A

You speak of God disseminating into the multitude of the world, and yet in the same context you speak of him as still a terrestrial being or super energy or however you would like to say it…that he is still there, yet a new person injected into the world by him.544 ¶29

Speaker

Very good. The world may deny it, but I’m speaking from experience, I am not speculating: God is man and man is God. But in the world of humanity the one man which is the one God is fragmented, as told us in the 82nd Psalm: “And God has taken his place in the divine council, in the midst of the gods (plural) he holds judgment.” And now he speaks to the gods and the same word is Elohim. It’s first translated in the singular, “And God has taken his place”…that word is Elohim. Although the word is plural, it is translated in the singular. Now it comes into the plural, “in the midst of the gods”…it’s still Elohim…“he holds judgment. And I tell you, you are sons of God, sons of the Most High, all of us; nevertheless, you shall die like men and fall as one man, O princes” in the 82nd Psalm. So, the one becomes the many for the experience. You are now individualized, you were before, and you will not in eternity lose that individuality. You will tend forever towards ever greater and greater individualization by reason of your experiences in a world of death. For this is a world of death where everything begins and ends. But I cannot deny the presence as described in the Book of Daniel, called there the Ancient of Days. And he was brought to the Ancient of Days and presented before him, and the Ancient of Days, infinite love, asks a very simple question and you will answer as I did. “What is the greatest thing in the world?” And I answered, “Faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love” . At that, he embraced me and our bodies fused and we became one…one man, one body, one Spirit. Then suddenly I’m not before him or with him, I’m before infinite might…a being that if he so desired he could stop the universe or shatter it. He said to me, “Time to act” and with that I was hurled out of that presence into my hotel room in New York City. That was 1929.544 ¶30

Speaker

Well, that’s what I don’t understand. In the beginning he was disseminated into the multitude of people yet he still retained all of his power.544 ¶31

Speaker

All right, we are told, “He who sees me sees him who sent me.” He has never left me. I have no feeling that I am divorced from that body of love, though here I am clothed in mortal flesh and blood. But I have no sensation of being divorced from that body. And because he is omnipresent, although I speak of him as there, he is omnipresent and therefore must be here. As told us in the Psalm, “If I take the wings of the morning and fly to the uttermost parts of the sea (world), thou art there. If I make my bed in hell, thou art there” . Where would I go that God is not when God is I AM? So it is something that comes upon one as it unfolds within himself. So he said, “He who sees me sees him who sent me” and he has never left me. If you knew me, you would know him also; but you do not know me, because you know my secular origin and you do not know my real origin. So we came out from God and fell as one man, O princes, for a divine purpose. By this experience that we have in this world, we are greater than we were when we left on the journey. There is no limit to translucency, to expansion; there is a limit set for contraction, for opacity, and man is the limit of contraction. Doubt, called Satan, is the limit of opacity or doubt—it cannot believe what reason denies, what its senses deny. But here, when truth begins to awake within man, there is no limit to what man can imagine. If man can believe what he has imagined, it will come to pass. Whether he believes it now or not, that he could [...] himself of this, that or the other, it’s going to happen anyway. Everything in the world is happening because man at one time has imagined it. We’re going to the moon. Go back a hundred years and Jules Verne wrote a book and named it and told the entire thing about the trip, even mentioning the nation that would do it. He said it would be America; the Yankee know-how, the Yankee engineers would do it. This is 100-odd years ago, before we were really tied together as a nation. I have a book at home called Democracy in America by De Tocqueville, a first edition. I love to have a friend at home, and I give him a page to read, read this one page, and they will open and read the page. You would think it was written this morning. It was written and printed in 1838. He tells of two great lands in the world—one will conquer by the sword and one by the plow, Russia by the sword and America by the plow. He doesn’t give you the conclusion as to which, if either, will be victorious…but then we were not a nation. California was not a part of our states. All the western states were not part. We hadn’t yet bought the Louisiana Purchase. We were a small little area on a vast land. But we hadn’t yet begun to expand and Russia was not a power. England was a power in 1838, France was a power, and Spain was a power. We were not powerful. And he tells you only two powers in the world and he names them, America who will conquer by the plow and Russia who will conquer by the sword. Well, haven’t they conquered by the sword? We just fought this fabulous war and Russia ended up with more land than she started with, almost as much again, and she’s ballooning with land; and we haven’t any land beyond what we had when we started. We didn’t go out to conquer the land…and today we still conquer by the plow. We have the know-how and we can feed the world with what we know how to extract from the land. With all their power, or publicized power, what do they do? They’ve just taken over Czechoslovakia. Before that, all of Estonia and all those areas, parts of Poland, all that has been added to their land, and they have so much land. We haven’t added anything. And this man wrote it, Alexis de Tocqueville, in 1838. I fortunately have a first edition of it. I love to just simply try…I say read this page, this very short page, and when they read it they turn back and see that it’s a first edition…and the dull pages… and the publishing house is long, long out of business…but here is the first edition, 1838. Here is a man with a dream. He saw these two coming up together, unnoticed by the powers of the day…and England was a power, France was a power, all these where powers and they were not. They were rising in the midst of them all and they didn’t detect them, but de Tocqueville detected them. He didn’t go beyond saying these two are the only two powers on the earth, one by the plow and one by the sword. But we have the book of books in the Bible. The most misunderstood book in the world, because it is not history. It is supernatural history. It is not secular history and people think it is secular. It is not secular. The drama unfolds in the soul of man. It’s the eternal drama. Time is up. Good night.544 ¶32

True Forgiveness

Tonight we will take two aspects of the great mystery: true forgiveness, and the immortal eyes which see into eternity.539 ¶1

” He said to them, ‘When two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.’ Then Peter said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brothers sin against me and I forgive them?’ and the answer came, ‘Seventy times seven.’539 ¶2

“The art of forgiveness must be practiced daily, but first we must learn how to forgive. Repentance and faith are conditions of forgiveness, but true forgiveness is forgetfulness. Christianity and its doctrines make no sense to the worldly-wise, so why are people Christians? The promise that the dead will rise doesn’t make sense to the mortal mind when the body is cremated and burned to ash; yet only by believing the story of redemption, can you truly forgive. You must learn to distinguish between the eternal human who occupies a state, and the state itself. This is the only means to forgiveness.539 ¶3

All scripts are written for actors. In the play, the actor cast in the role of a murderer must play that part, and so it is with this world. God, the author, wrote the script and plays all the parts, while wearing a mask, called “another.” If you will learn to distinguish between states of consciousness and their occupant, you can forgive everyone. How? By identifying the one you would forgive with the ideal he failed to realise. The highest ideal would be to identify him with the divine image itself. As God we said: “Let us make man in our image.” That image is Christ.539 ¶4

You are called upon to take a man who is condemned by the world, and see him radiating and reflecting God’s glory. Well, you could fall a little short of that image, but you could take an ideal he has failed to realise. It could be affluence or at least an income equal to his responsibilities, until you are strong enough to go beyond the barrier of observation and see him as the divine image himself.539 ¶5

Matthew makes this statement: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” In the Hebraic world it is said that if two sit together and there is no word of the Torah between them, they are seated in the seat of the scoffers; but “Blessed is the man who sits not in the seat of the scoffer, but rejoices in the law of God day and night, for that man shall prosper in all that he does.” Although the man is known to have a brilliant mind, if he does not discuss the Torah (the law of God and his prophets), he is seated in the seat of the scoffer. And in the 3rd chapter of the Book of Malachi, we read: “When those who love the Lord speak with one another and discuss the word of God, the glory of God is between them.”539 ¶6

How many in the world today fill that bill? Who, at a cocktail party, ever discuss the word of God? I recall about five years ago I was invited to a dinner party, where everyone was telling jokes. Although I love a joke, I am not a good story teller of that nature; so when it was my time to speak, I rose and told them about God’s law. When I seated myself, the gentleman giving the party said: “I didn’t realise we had invited a longhair here tonight.” That was his attitude towards the word of God.539 ¶7

Well, the gentleman has just departed this little section of time, and has been restored to a young body to continue living in a terrestrial world like this – but without his money in the bank, for that he left behind. He took the knowledge of what he had done and who he is with him, but his earthly things he left behind.539 ¶8

Now, in this world, when you give something to someone else or sell it, you no longer possess it; but that is not true in the heavenly world. It is a world of sharing, where nothing is lost. In that world I can give you every faculty that has awakened within me, and it becomes yours to use and give to another to use as they will.539 ¶9

Two years ago I gave my immortal eyes to a lady who is here tonight. In her vision, I took my eyes out of their sockets and placed them into hers. Soon after that experience she was told, in vision, that she was an incurrent eyewitness. The word “incurrent” means “to give passage to a current that flows inward.” Blake spoke of the incurrent eyes, saying: “I rest not from my great task to open the Eternal World; to open the Immortal Eyes of Man inward, into the world of thoughts into Eternity ever expanding in the bosom of God, the Human Imagination.”539 ¶10

Blake wasn’t interested in the external eyes, because he knew they did not see. Having resurrected from this body of death, Blake wanted to give everyone his immortal eyes that they might see as he did. Resurrection does not come when your body is being cremated; rather you are raised while wearing your garment of flesh in this world of death. Then you can give your immortal faculties to another without their loss in the giving.539 ¶11

And when the visions come, they possess you. You don’t have to go into meditation to seek them. They can come while you walk the street or are seated in a theater enjoying a play, when suddenly you are seeing what is not there to be seen by mortal eye and you can’t stop it.539 ¶12

Last Friday, the lady I gave my eyes to, and her friend, returned home from the lecture. While sitting in the car they were discussing the word of God, when a series of visions possessed her. She found herself in a church, with a bright red carpet running down its center. An angelic being directed her attention to the altar and the objects lying there.539 ¶13

Then the vision changed and a coach, drawn by a team of horses suddenly appeared. Stopping in front of her, the door opened and a being with light radiating from his countenance stepped out. He was so majestic he could have been Hercules himself. For a moment they stared at one another. Then he re-entered the coach and disappeared. Suddenly another coach appeared, this one drawn by white horses. It stopped. The door swung open and I stepped out, smiled, and vanished – leaving the door of the carriage open, as three women came out, all dressed in black.539 ¶14

Then a marvelous thing happened. A pallet bearing a corpse appeared, and as she looked she saw that it was I. A piece of cloth was tied across my mouth and behind my head. I was placed upon a cross, which was raised, set aflame, and burned to a stump. And when she looked into the stump she saw liquid, molten gold, as the vision faded.539 ¶15

Then the coach reappeared, now driven by a majestic being. Again it stopped. The door opened and a man, like the Ancient of Days with a white beard, white hair, wearing a white gown and a blue robe, stepped out. In his left hand he held a large white book and in his right hand a pen, which he pointed at her and the vision vanished.539 ¶16

I have told you time and again about this golden liquid light, which is the blood of God that comes forth from the furnaces. This lady was not seeing me as a man placed on a burning cross. It could have been, but that’s not the story. The body you wear is your cross, and you cannot escape the fires of experience. But when your journey is over, you – the tree of life – are reduced to a stump, as recorded in the Book of Daniel as: “Hew down the tree and destroy it but leave the stump of its roots in the earth; for from that stump a new being will rise.” That being is golden, liquid light.539 ¶17

Paul said, in his fifteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians: “Someone will ask, ‘How do the dead rise? With what body do they come?’ “Then he answered his own question, saying: “It is as God has chosen.” Conceived by an infinite being, the dead rise into that one perfect body, to become one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all. This one body contains all of humanity, yet is unique to everyone. What it is like I cannot tell; but you will know it when you – as golden liquid light – fill it with yourself. You, as molten gold, will rise up like a serpent, into that heavenly state to be cast into the body God has chosen for you and it is unique. It is waiting for you, and no one can fill it but you. In the end everyone is redeemed in that one body to know himself to be the one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all.539 ¶18

Don’t try to compare your mortal frame to your immortal self, for it cannot be done. Paul made it so distinct, saying: “It is planted in weakness, it is raised in power. It is planted in dishonor and raised in glory.” This is true for every child born of woman.539 ¶19

Having risen from the state of death, it is my choice, my privilege, to give my eyes to whomever I will. I gave them to her, and she – in turn – gave them to her friend, whose experience I will now share.539 ¶20

Having heard her friend relate her visions, she retired that night; and as she fell asleep she saw a match strike the earth and it instantly burst into flame, reminding her of the plains of Kansas when the sun rises – for it is like a flame spreading across the prairie flatness. Then a dark object came out of the centre of the flame and approached her. Moving in a serpentine motion, it placed itself upon a cross which immediately rose from the earth and stood erect. As she watched, the serpent transformed itself into a man hanging on a cross, but instead of being on the cross, he was in it. This lady saw the transformation of a serpent into a man being transfigured on a flaming cross from within. As you can see, these visions parallel each other, confirming the truth which I have shared with you.539 ¶21

You have an immortal body in paradise, while you wear your mortal body in this world of Caesar and fight with shadows. Although there appear to be others here, there is only God. The world seems to be multiplied by billions of people, each separate and individual; yet there is only one being, who is God, fragmented into garments of flesh. But the day is coming when, as molten gold, you are gathered together to form one being. Retaining your individuality, I will know you and you will know me; but the body we wear there is not like this one.539 ¶22

Having been raised from the dead, when I revealed myself in the lady’s vision I shared with you tonight, she knew me, and then I vanished from sight. Others will see me in different roles, for I am a protean being. I can display the fact that I have risen from the dead, but I cannot reveal my risen body until you arrive where I am.539 ¶23

Not understanding the resurrection, man thinks it takes place when the body dies; but it happens while you are here in this world of death. Everything here is dead. The animal is killed before its meat is consumed. This is true of the bird or fish, fruit, or vegetable. So the last enemy to overcome is death.539 ¶24

While we are here we fight against shadows as we think he or she is another; but there is no other, for we are all brothers, all sons of God, who collectively form the one being who is God. He who is the maker of his sons is housed in each one of them. Say “I am” and you have revealed God’s name.539 ¶25

Now, if you would forgive another, you must learn to distinguish between the immortal “I” and the state into which he has moved – either wittingly or unwittingly. As Blake said: “You can see by what I teach, I do not consider the just or the wicked to be in a supreme state, but to be everyone of them states of the sleep into which the soul may fall in its deadly dreams of good and evil.539 ¶26

If you truly love another it would not matter what he (or she) did – you would forgive him. I don’t care what my mother would do – I would forgive her, or any of my brothers. I have expanded my circle to include friends, and enlarged it to encompass those I do not presently know; for in truth they are all my brothers. The man who said: “Go and tell my brothers I am ascending unto my Father and your Father, unto my God and your God” had pushed out his circle to encompass all, because he knew there was only one being who was playing all the parts.539 ¶27

So you cannot truly forgive unless you can discriminate between the being who occupies the part he is playing, and the part itself. Then you can identify him with what you know he would like to be, and to the degree that you are self-persuaded that he is occupying the new state, he will become it. It’s entirely up to you to practice the art of repentance, which is a radical change of feeling.539 ¶28

A friend may have committed an act of violence and admitted his guilt. Practice the art of repentance by separating your friend (the actor) from the part he played, and identify him with the part you know in your heart that he would like to play. Persuade yourself it is true and, to the degree you are self-persuaded, your friend will be transformed into and occupy that state for all to see.539 ¶29

The first words recorded in the Book of Mark (the earliest gospel by date) are: “The kingdom of heaven is at hand, repent and believe the gospel.” I call upon you this day, to believe the story of Christianity; and if you believe and are a Christian, you will put it into practice. Christianity is the fulfillment of the promises Jehovah made to man. When the story of Jesus Christ is re-enacted within you, you have fulfilled God’s promises to Israel.539 ¶30

Then tell your story to those who will listen; and, while you are moving in your heavenly sphere, you will select those to whom you will give your eyes. Selection comes from wisdom which is from above, not from below. On this level, if I had to give my eyes to one, it would definitely be my wife, and next to her, my daughter. But on a higher level, where there is no uncertainty as to who should receive them, I gave my eyes to a lady I only know at a distance. I have never seen her home, nor has she ever been to mine. I love her like a sister, but I certainly have never seen her socially. While functioning from above, however, the wisdom of Caesar is not used. Using the wisdom from above, I selected from those who come here the one to whom I gave my eyes.539 ¶31

The gift is complete, yet I did not lose them in the giving. In fact my vision increased in the giving.539 ¶32

The visions come when you least expect them. You may be in a crowd when everything is blocked out and the vision possesses you. It is nonsense to think you must go to India to be taught how to meditate by some guru. True vision cannot be taught, but comes upon you when you least expect it; and you cannot stop it, for vision is Christ in you, who is your hope of glory.539 ¶33

The body you wear is the cross Christ bears. The fires these ladies saw are the furnaces of experience Blake speaks of as “How they come forth from the furnaces; how long, vast and severe the anguish before they find their Father, were long to tell.”539 ¶34

Man is seeking his heavenly Father, who is himself. He is looking outside for the cause of the phenomena of his life; but when he finds it, he finds himself. Then he will say: “I and my Father are one.” His trip in this world cannot be over until the Father is found; and how long, vast, and severe the anguish before he finds him, were long to tell.539 ¶35

I cannot tell you how close you are to discovering your true identity; but I can tell you that it will begin with your resurrection from your immortal tomb, where you first laid yourself down to sleep and dream this dream of life. This is immediately followed by your birth from above. One hundred and thirty-nine days later you will find your son, who will reveal you to yourself. Then one hundred and twenty-three days later your spiritual body is split in two, and you see and identify yourself with the molten gold found at its base. Fusing with it, up you will go like a serpent, back into your own skull – called heaven. Nine hundred and ninety-eight days later the dove descends, giving you the benediction that the Spirit of the Most High is upon you; for he will anoint and send you to preach good tidings to the afflicted and open the eyes of the blind. The blind spoken of here are those whose eyes do not see the mystery behind the facade.539 ¶36

But tonight, learn to forgive. This is essential! Learn to discriminate between the state in which a man is placed, and its occupant. If you can discriminate between the two, you will forgive; for you will recognise the being is trapped in a role. If the part be that of the murderer, he must murder. If he is trapped in the role of sickness, he must be ill. If you do not like the part he is playing, remember: all plays belong to the author who is God. We are the actors who will understand the reason behind the play when the curtain descends and the play has come to its end. I pray it will be tonight! Now let us go into the silence.539 ¶37

The Perfect Image

H e is our peace, who will make us both one by breaking down the wall of hostility, that he may create in himself one new man in place of the two, so bringing peace.” This being of peace is a person, not a doctrine or philosophy. He is a person who breaks down the wall of hostility between you who are seated here and your true identity, who is a son of God, one with his Father.535 ¶1

Now, a lady wrote, saying: “I saw myself in vision as radiantly perfect, yet I knew that we were two. Remembering the words ‘Be ye perfect,’ I knew that at one time I was not, but now my present reflection is one of perfection. Then I awoke, got out of bed and stumbled into the door, then lost my temper and yelled at my children for pouring soap on my nice clean carpet. So it must have happened in some other dimension of my being, for I certainly am not perfect here.” She is right. While we wear these garments of flesh and blood, we lose our temper; we run into doors and do all the things people do here. Did not the perfect one, who was the pattern man, call Herod “that fox,” and the scribes and Pharisees “Whited sepulchers, outwardly beautiful and inwardly full of hypocrisy and iniquity”? While you are here, encased in your body of flesh and blood, certainly you will lose your temper. Maybe not as you did before you were perfect, but you will to some degree as long as you remain here.535 ¶2

Now, how does he who is our peace break down the wall of perdition and make the two of us one? By fulfilling his primal wish, which was: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” God fell asleep to his true awareness and began a good work in you, which he will bring to completion on the day of Jesus Christ – who is described as being the perfect image of God, one who reflects and radiates God’s glory. When his good work is finished, in you, then you – the image – will be superimposed upon him, and you will know yourself to be the Father. There is only God in the world. Having taken upon himself the limitation of man (as you are), he is working you into his image from within. And when you – the made – are as perfect as he – the Maker, you rise as one man, enhanced by reason of the experience of making an image which radiates and reflects your glory. So her vision was perfect, all based upon scripture.535 ¶3

Here is another beautiful one. This lady said, “I found myself in a forest, sitting on the ground leaning against a tree, when I heard a voice calling, ‘Father, Father,’ but I did not answer, because I did not want to be discovered. Suddenly you appeared, dressed as a shepherd boy, and said to me: ‘Why did you not answer me? I have been searching for you.’ And I replied: ‘You are always searching and finding me, in spite of the fact that the Good Book says I can rest on the Sabbath day.’ Then you looked at me and smiled the smile of an indulgent father; yet strangely enough, I – very female – felt I was the father.”535 ¶4

In the 4th chapter of Galatians it is said: “When the time had fully come, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying: ‘Abba! Father!’” But the Father, sound asleep in Man, doesn’t want to be found, although the Son is always calling: “Rouse thyself, why sleepest thou, O Lord! Awake!” And when one who is called the Son of God awakens to Fatherhood, he is sent into the world to awaken his brothers, but finds they still want to postpone the day of waking, still wanting to hold onto these little garments of flesh and blood. But I will always find you and will not let you rest, for “Truly, truly I say unto you, the dead will hear the voice of the son of God and those who hear it will live.” This lady heard the voice and recognised it, so she is not far from waking. Sent as a shepherd boy, the son of God does the Father’s will by calling the Father (in Man) to awaken and rise from the dead.535 ¶5

God entered this world for the sole purpose of making you perfect as he is perfect. When his work is finished, he will superimpose himself upon that image and they will be perfectly one. This lady knew she was perfect. She recalled the words: “Be ye perfect.” The completed sentence is: “as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Yes, be ye perfect for then you become one with your Maker; awake from this dream of life and resurrect from this world of death into a world of eternal life. Without the resurrection you would know infinite circuitry, repeating the same states over and over again. But, after moving around the circle unnumbered times, the perfect image is formed, removing you from the circle to enter a spiral and move up as the person who created it all. You can join every doctrine, sign every contract between people and nations; yet you will not know perfection until He (in you) finds you perfect and the two of you become one. So, he who is your peace will make you one with him by breaking down the dividing wall of hostility. Then, without telling others you walk knowing who you really are. If you tell the world, they will only laugh at you because – while in this world, like my friend who had the vision – you will run into a door and lose your temper.535 ¶6

Everyone is here for a definite purpose, which is revealed through revelations, thereby giving purpose to the whole of life. Without purpose, what does the world have to offer? If you owned everything that you could buy with money, if you had all the money necessary to live comfortably – and your soul is called, what would it matter? The world may call you dead, cremate your body and scatter your ashes, but you are immortal and cannot die. Rather than being dead, you are in a world just like this one, mentally walking the same tracks over again and again. Oh, maybe you will not experience the same situations, but your world will be just as solidly real. You will return to a lovely twenty-year-old form, to marry, and age, and lose your temper as you bump into a door – until your image is so perfect it is superimposed upon its Maker. Then up you go to know yourself to be the one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all. That is the great living body of the Risen Lord.535 ¶7

It seems incredible, but it is true. You are destined to know yourself to be the creator of the world. You are destined to share in the unity of that one body, that one Spirit, that one Lord, that one God and Father of all. I know, for I have experienced it. I was sent back to tell my experiences in the hope that those who are on the verge of moving into the same body, as the same Spirit, may hear my words and be encouraged by them.535 ¶8

Paul makes the statement: “I stand before you on trial for the hope in that promise that God made to our fathers. O King Agrippa, why should it seem incredible to any of you that God raised the dead? Is this not the promise to our fathers?” Search the scriptures and you will find that the promise was made in the 46th chapter of Genesis. “The Lord spoke to Israel in visions of the night saying, ‘Jacob, Jacob.’” (As you know, Jacob’s name was changed to Israel which means, a man who rules as God because he knows he is God.) Jacob answers: “Here I am,” and the Lord said: “I am God, the God of your father. Fear not to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation. I will go down with you into Egypt and I will also bring you out again.”535 ¶9

Egypt is not a little place in North Africa; this world of death is Egypt, where everything appears, waxes, wanes, and vanishes. I have gone down into Egypt with you and I will keep my promise and bring you up. When this world was coming to its end, Paul stood in chains before the prince whose kingdom was fading; but he could not let go of it, and said: “Why do you think it incredible that God raises the dead?” and the king could not answer.535 ¶10

I tell you: God literally assumed the weaknesses and limitations of the flesh, in order to know you and to make you into his image. And when that image is perfect as He is perfect, you are no longer two, but one. Then you awake from the dream of life and ascend into your true being, called the kingdom of heaven. Our commonwealth is in heaven and we are sojourners in this strange land where we are enslaved. But have faith and set your hope fully upon that moment in time when the image is perfect. Then it will be unveiled within you to reveal you as the being who made it. Though you are the made, you are the Maker; for the Maker breaks down the wall of hostility between you, making you and He one. Then you return to your heavenly state as the one who came down, but greatly enhanced because of your journey into Egypt.535 ¶11

Having purposely imposed this limitation upon myself, I felt as though I were speaking to another, making requests of him and thanking him for their fulfillment. Now I have no sense of another. I feel only as the one who formed me into his likeness; for when I awoke He and I were not two any more, but one.535 ¶12

This lady saw me clothed as a shepherd boy. She saw correctly; for although the Father and the son are one, it is the Spirit of his son who is sent into the heart, crying: “Father, Father.” She heard the cry and knew herself to be not only Man, but a father; yet in this world she is very much a lady. She heard my call, yet not wanting to be disturbed she did not respond; but may I tell you, the son of God will never let the Father rest. He is forever calling: “Awake you sleeper! Why sleepest thou, O Lord?” But the Father in you cannot awaken until he has completed his work. He began it in you and will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. That day, the image of God himself is formed in you, and you awake to express that image by radiating and reflecting God’s glory. Night after night I am crying and crying to the Father in all; and those who hear my voice will begin to awaken from the dream of life and start their journey back to the being they were before that the world was, to find themselves to be more glorious, more wonderful, than they were when they descended.535 ¶13

Tonight some friends are here who haven’t heard me speak in a number of years. When they were last with me I was speaking only of the law, as the promise had not fulfilled itself in me. So for their sake let me say: the promise is the law on a higher level, and the law is very simple. There are infinite number of states. The state of health, the state of sickness, the state of wealth, the state of poverty, the state of being known, the state of being unknown – all are only states and everyone is always in a state. We all have one state in which we are very comfortable, so we return to it moment after moment. That state constitutes our dwelling place. If it is not a pleasant state, we can always get out of it. How this is done is the secret I will now share with you.535 ¶14

All states are mental. You cannot remove yourself from your present state by pulling strings on the outside. You must mentally adjust your thoughts to proceed from the desired state, all within yourself. You fell into your present state either deliberately or unwittingly; and because you are its life, the state became alive and grew like a tree, bearing its fruit which you do not like. Its fruit may be that of poverty, or distress, heartache, or pain. There are all kinds of unlovely fruit. But you can detach yourself from your unlovely harvest by making an adjustment in your human imagination.535 ¶15

Ask yourself what you would like to harvest. When you know what it is, ask yourself how you would feel if your desire was ready to harvest right now. When you know the feeling, try to catch it. In my own case I find it easier to catch the feeling by imagining I am with people I know well and they are seeing me as they would if my desire were now a fact. And when the feeling of reality possesses me, I fall asleep in that assumption. At that moment I have entered a state.535 ¶16

Now, I must make that state as natural as I have made my present state. I must consciously return to my new state constantly. I must feel its naturalness, like my own bed at night. At first the new state seems unnatural, like wearing a new suit or hat. Although no one knows your suit is new, you are so conscious of it you think everyone is looking at you. You are aware of its fit and its feeling until it becomes comfortable. So it is with your new state. At first you are conscious of its strangeness; but with regular wearing, the new state becomes comfortable, and its naturalness causes you to constantly return to it, thereby making it real.535 ¶17

Now most of us, knowing what we want, construct it in our minds eye, but never occupy it. We never move into the state and remain there. I call this perpetual construction, deferred occupancy. I could dream of owning a lovely home and hope to go there one day; but if I do not occupy it now, in my imagination, I postpone it to another day. I may wish my friend had a better job. I may have imagined him having it; but if I don’t occupy that state by believing he is already there, I have merely constructed the state for him but not occupied it. All day long I can wish he or she were different; but if I don’t go into the state and view him from it, I don’t occupy the state, so he remains in the unlovely state relative to me.535 ¶18

This is the world in which we live. You can’t conceive of a thing that is not part of a state, but the life of any state is in the individual who occupies it. Life cannot be given to a state from without, because God’s name is “I am.” It is not “You are” or “They are.” God’s eternal name is I Am! That is the life of the world. If you would make a state alive, you must be in it. If you are in a lovely, gentle, kind state, you are seeing another as lovely, living graciously, and enjoying life to the utmost.535 ¶19

Now, to make that state natural, you must see everyone in your world as lovely, kind, and gentle. Others may not see them in that light, but it doesn’t really matter what they think. I am quite sure if I took a survey of what people think of me, no two would agree. Some would say I am a deceiver, while others I am the nearest thing to God. I would find a range stretching from the devil to God, all based upon the state in which the person is in when called upon to define me.535 ¶20

You can be what you want to be if you know and apply this principle, but you are the operant power. It does not operate itself. You may know the law from A to Z, but knowing is not enough. Knowledge must be acted upon. “I am” is the operant power in you. Put your awareness in the centre of your desire. Persist, and your desire will be objectified.535 ¶21

Learn to use the law, because there is a long interval between the law and the promise. Those who heard me prior to 1959 are unfamiliar with my experiences since that time, and my words may seem strange to you. I cannot deny the law, for I came not to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill them. This I have done.535 ¶22

I have told you that in the resurrection, Man is above the organisation of sex, and that Man can change his sex at will. This week I received a letter telling of a vision which testifies to the truth of this statement. This gentleman is married to a lovely girl and is every bit a man, yet this is his experience. He said, “I found myself lying on a bed feeling as though I am a woman. Desiring a man of oriental descent and olive skin, I assumed I had found him. Instantly he appeared and, although no act was performed, I felt the thrill of imagining and instant fulfillment of my imaginal act. Then I awoke.”535 ¶23

This man’s vision verifies what I have been telling you: that in the resurrection Man changes his sexual garments at will, and being above the organisation of sex, he does not need the divine image of male/female to create. I think his vision is marvelous. When he returned to this world, he was surprised at the experience; but I say to all: you are destined to know you are every being in the world, bar none! Like the lady who is so feminine, responding when a shepherd boy called her “father.” Although she would not answer my call, she knew I would always find her. I always will, for I – the Word of God – was sent as the son of God, and I shall not return to my father void. I must bring back that purpose for which he sent me. I stirred the feeling of the fatherhood of God in her, and I will take back with me those that my father gave me.535 ¶24

But while you are in this world of Caesar, it is important that you master the law. Think of everyone as representing a state. There is no such thing as a good man or a bad man, only good or bad states as you conceive them to be; but the occupant of every state is God. Blake said in his “Vision Of The Last Judgement”: “On this it will be seen that I do not consider either the just or the wicked to be in a supreme state, but to everyone of them states of the sleep which the soul may fail into in its deadly dreams of good and evil when it leaves Paradise following the serpent.” Identify yourself with a state and you are pronounced by others to be either good or evil; but you are only in a state.535 ¶25

Tonight if you are unemployed, or find it difficult to get a promotion in your present employment, remember: the solution to your present state is still a state! I hope I have made it clear how to move into states. It is done through the act of assumption with feeling and persistence. Assume health. Stand in its centre and clothe yourself with its feeling. Persist in claiming a healthy body and a healthy mind, and your assumption will harden into fact as you move into and objectify the state of health.535 ¶26

Now let us go into the silence.535 ¶27

The True Vine

Today, as you know, is Good Friday, and undoubtedly millions have attended services and heard some portion of the last seven words of Christ; but I wonder how many of them know who he is and what the words really mean. I tell you: Jesus Christ is your awareness, your I Amness, who became as you are that you may be as he is. I want you to accept this literally, for it is true. Now, each one of the seven words spoken of today is really a sentence, the first of which is: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do,” and the last is: “Father, into thy hands I commit my Spirit.” This is only a portion of the quote from the 5th verse of the 31st chapter of the Book of Psalms. The complete thought is this: “Father, into thy hands I commit my Spirit. Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.” Here we find the redeemer to be one with the redeemed, for speaking to the Father, he says: “Thou hast redeemed me,” yet he has already confessed “I and the Father are one.” So you see the redeemer and the redeemed are really one.534 ¶1

Let us look at these words through the eyes of the mystic, and not with the traditional eyes of the church: “I am the true vine and my Father is the vinedresser.” This true vine is the imagination. It is man’s eternal body, who is God himself. Jesus is the divine body, of which we are his members in the sense that he is in us. Christ is not a little man, but humanity. He is our own wonderful human imagination. He is our redeemer, yet he is the one redeemed.534 ¶2

When I first realised this I was shocked, for I was born and raised in the Christian tradition and knew no other religion. Then I discovered that Christ was not someone on the outside that I should worship, but my own wonderful human imagination, and for a while my world turned upside down. There is a little poem that fits this perfectly: “Behold this vine. I found it a wild tree whose wanton strength had swollen into irregular twigs. But I pruned the plant and it grew tempered in its vain expanse of useless leaves and knotted as you see into these full, clean clusters to repay the hand that wisely wounded it.” Your imagination is the true vine from which everything in your world is drawn. Any misuse of your imagination causes the deformities in your life. It is a shock, I know, to realise that you are the sole cause of your life; and what a responsibility you have, to prune this true vine of awareness!534 ¶3

Since the Father and the Son are one, I – as Father AM the true vine and must prune myself. Not realising a seeming other was a branch growing from me, the true vine, I allowed myself to entertain unlovely thoughts of him. But I didn’t cut the branch, for the pruning is not in that way. Called repentance in scripture, pruning is revision – which is a radical change of attitude towards an individual or a situation. I revised my thoughts relative to that seeming other and accepted this unseen imaginal act as reality. Then I watched, and in time I became aware of a change in my world relative to this person or that condition. Having found the true vine and the Father who pruned it, I know I must prune it every day; for if I do it will knot and form itself into these full, clean clusters to repay the hand of the vinedresser (the Father) who pruned it.534 ¶4

Listen carefully now to these words from Paul’s letter to the Philippians: “Christ Jesus who – though he was in the form of God – thought it not robbery to be equal with God, emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, and was born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he became obedient unto death, even death on the cross.” Your body is the cross upon which Jesus Christ is crucified. And it is there he will remain until he transforms your lowly body into the one form with his glorious body. Then he will have fulfilled his purpose. I tell you: Jesus Christ has actually taken upon himself your body of humility and become its slave by feeding it, bathing it, clothing it, and caring for it in every way; yet Jesus Christ is not of this world. But in time he will completely transform you into his glorious body, for he is the redeemer, who – having assumed your body – will redeem it, thereby becoming the redeemed.534 ¶5

The true vine is your own wonderful human imagination. When you believe this you will no longer imagine as you formerly did, but will prune your thoughts every minute of every day. You will break the habit of feeling remorseful, depressed, or regretful. You will no longer think unkindly about another, because you will know that he is actually yourself pushed out, and appeared in your world because the Father in you called him. No one can come unto me unless I, who am one with the Father, call him. Even though he brings poison he does it because I gave it to him to bring. This is the story that is reenacted today, but not understood.534 ¶6

Now we are told he took a sop (called “a morsel” in some translations) and gave it to Judas, who quickly departed. The sop is a gift of great friendship. In the ancient world, the sop was dipped into a liquid and handed to the honored guest, he who is the closest and dearest friend. That’s Judas. Only one who knows the messianic secret can betray it. No one can betray me who does not know my secret. How could you betray me if I had not taken you into my confidence as a friend, and shared my secret? So Judas leaves to tell the world of the real Christ and gives them a sign saying: “The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him. Hold him fast.” Don’t let him go, but eat his doctrine, feed upon it, drink it. Let everything else go, but don’t let him go. When you have found the cause of the phenomena of your life, let every other belief go. Should people urge you to eat certain food or observe certain days do not believe them, for there is nothing you can do on the outside that will ever commend you to God. You are defiled or purified by what comes out of your heart, not by what you eat or observe on the outside. Are you imagining good or evil for yourself, for the true vine is your own wonderful human imagination, and the world without is nothing more than your branches.534 ¶7

Now, who is this one that Judas kisses? The Risen Christ! This I know from experience. One night I was explaining the word of God to twelve men, when one jumped up quickly and departed. I instantly knew he was going to tell exactly what I had told him concerning the cause of the phenomena of life. Then he returns. It’s the same being, but now he is richly dressed and so important we all stand at attention at his entrance. Coming toward me he severs my sleeve, revealing my right arm and kisses the one it is said of him: “Don’t let him go, but hold him fast.” The word “hold” as defined in the concordance, means “almighty power” and the word “fast” means, “to abstain from all food.” Here we are being told to abstain from any food for thought other than our own wonderful human imagination. We are urged to feast upon our own power and wisdom.534 ¶8

Abstain when others urge you to try a little numerology, a little astrology, or any belief of a power outside of your Self. One of the great weaknesses of man is the necessity of always being right. Those who prophesied that California would experience an earthquake which would kill millions, will pray until they break their skull to prove the rightness of their prophecy; but it hasn’t a thing to do with scripture. The earthquake spoken of in scripture takes place within, and not on the outside, at all.534 ¶9

Jesus Christ is God himself, who became you, individually. Your awareness is He. When you imagine, God is acting. He is the true vine and the vinedresser, for he is your imagination, imagining you. If you really understand this, you will start pruning your thoughts. If you don’t and continue to believe Jesus Christ is other than your Self, you will persist in allowing your wanton energy to run wild, to swell into irregular twigs, and bear unlovely things in your world.534 ¶10

When you become aware of those in need, even though you do not know them personally, do you use your imagination to lift them from that state? That is what you are called upon to do. If you represent them to yourself as you would like them to be, and persuade yourself it is true, that branch will change in your world. You do not eliminate the state of need. It remains for anyone to be aware of, but you – having lifted yourself out of the state – see it no more. Prune your vine morning, noon, and night; and then — when you least expect it – a series of wonderful, supernatural experiences will be yours, as God reveals himself in you – not as another, but as your very Self. Then you will say, from personal experience, “I am he.”534 ¶11

In the 17th chapter of Luke, we are warned not to heed anyone who may say: “Lo, here it is!” or “There!” for the kingdom of God is within. And we are told in the 3rd chapter of Philippians: “Our commonwealth is in heaven, from where we expect a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will refashion our lowly body to be one with his glorious body.” This body of humiliation will be completely transformed by the exalted Christ in you. So do not go any place when someone tells you to look elsewhere, for you can only find the true God within. If our commonwealth is in heaven (from which we expect a Saviour who is the lord Jesus Christ) and heaven is within, our Saviour cannot come from without. And when he comes, it is in a series of majestic, supernatural acts, wherein he unveils himself and rises from within.534 ¶12

Blake expressed this thought so beautifully in Plate 96 of “Jerusalem,” as: “I behold the Visions of my deadly sleep of six-thousand years Dazzling around my skirts like a Serpent of precious stones and gold. I know it is my Self: O my Divine Creator and Redeemer.” I have beheld those visions. I have known the thrill of seeing that pool of golden liquid light and knowing it to be my Self. And I have experienced the 3rd chapter of John by ascending into the kingdom of God within myself. I was taught to believe in someone on the outside; yet, when my Spiritual body was split and truth was revealed to me, I fused with golden, pulsing, living, liquid light and – like a serpent – I returned to the kingdom of heaven within me to become a living stone in the living temple of the Eternal God. This knowledge, I know, everyone is going to experience.534 ¶13

Once again let us return to the drama depicted today. The first word of the seven wonderful words is this: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” If you know that you are the cause of your sorrow, can you not forgive the one who submitted it? Must you condemn a shadow, when you are its cause? Everyone who comes into your world is drawn there by your Father, with whom you are one. If he who enters insults or offends you and you know you are the cause of his seeming offense, can you not forgive him? Can you not say: “Father, forgive him for he knows not what he is doing?” Your world is filled with those who are under compulsion to play their part because of what you have imagined. You may have forgotten your imaginal acts, and may even deny you ever entertained such thoughts; but they could not come if you had not called them out of yourself; therefore, you must forgive them, for they only did what you asked them to do.534 ¶14

Now at the very end, this statement is made: “It is finished.” What does he ask for when the work he was given to do is finished? “To return unto me the glory that was mine, the glory that I had with thee before that the world was.” Having emptied himself of his glory and taken upon himself the form of a slave to become obedient to death upon the cross of Man, he has redeemed the state of slavery by becoming one with it and raising it to the level of Father. Now he requests to return to his former glory, the glory that he knew before that the world was. Only one being returns. That being is God the Father, the sender, now one with his Son, the sent. Entering this world of many, we are the gods, sons of the Most High, yet one with our Father. When, as the son, we overcome death, we return with greater brilliance and translucency because of our victory over death. Then what a joy is ours!534 ¶15

If you will accept this truth and will not let it go, your days will change as you feast upon the body of imagination and drink of its life-giving blood. Give up everything you have ever believed concerning causation and believe in the one cause of all life – be it good, bad or indifferent – which is your own wonderful human imagination. When an experience comes to you that causes you distress, instead of denying it or trying to rub it out, accept the event and change it. Beautify your world! The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Repent and believe the story of redemption.534 ¶16

Jesus Christ is not some man who died two thousand years ago. You and I died with Christ in the beginning. You have been crucified with Christ and he lives in you. Live your life in the flesh by faith in the Son of God who so loved you he actually became you. His incarnation took place when you were born. He is a slave to your body, for your birth from below is when imagination took upon himself the form of a slave. He is not a person who, enslaving another, calls that other his slave; for the one who is the slave-master is still a slave to the body he wears, taking care of its normal, natural functions for himself. God actually became the slave that you are, in order to redeem you. A complete transformation will take place, and you – the grub worm – will return to the awareness of being the exalted butterfly – the same being you were before you descended in power and took upon yourself the form of a slave.534 ¶17

I can’t tell you the thrill that is yours when you wear that all-powerful garment of fire and air. While you wear it there is nothing you cannot do effortlessly. You can form eyes that see perfectly and mold them into empty sockets, form arms, which move perfectly in their sockets. With your magical power you can change age-shrunken bodies into perfect twenty-year-old ones. That power is yours when you wear your body called heaven. One night in 1946, I wore that body. It’s the same body I gave up when I took upon myself this body of a slave in order to redeem it. That night, while still aware of being Neville, I – the invisible – became a visible being by nailing myself upon this cross called Neville. And I wore it faithfully until the night of the transfiguration. So I know the thrill that is in store for you when your body of slavery is transformed into a body of immortality. You see, the being you really are is Jesus Christ and cannot die. You who were before that the world was, came down into this world of death to overcome it, to rise as one being; for you – the redeemer – will know yourself to be one with the redeemed.534 ¶18

Now, one of the last words on the cross is: “I thirst.” You may think this is a thirst for water, but the Book of Amos tells you what he is thirsting for. “I will send a famine upon the land. It will not be a hunger for bread or a thirst for water, but for the hearing of the word of God.” Every word has to be fulfilled in him. That is his thirst. When the thirst comes upon you, every word of God will unfold in you, casting you in the starring role. Then your hunger and thirst will be satisfied, for you will have experienced the entire Bible in a first person, singular, present tense experience.534 ¶19

I wonder what per cent of our world understands this wonderful day of the crucifixion. At one church here on Wilshire Blvd., there will be seven preachers; each will speak on one sentence and attempt to explain it. With the traditional concept of Jesus Christ, how could the statement: “Father, forgive them,” be explained? How could you, personally, truly forgive someone if you did not believe he was yourself pushed out? How could you forgive one who had just murdered a friend or a loved one, without acknowledging that you had to have done it; because it couldn’t have happened and you be aware of it, unless your Father called it to your attention by drawing the event into your world, and you and your father are one? Only when you know who the real cause of the phenomena of life is, can you forgive. If awareness is the cause of murder and you are forever aware of something, the state of murder cannot be cut off; but your awareness can be rearranged. The event can be completely transformed by repentance, which I call revision. When you revise a disturbing memory, you have repented in the true sense of the word.534 ¶20

When I first found this vine I could hardly sleep for days and days, I was so disillusioned thinking of the responsibility that was now on my shoulder – responsibility that I had always placed upon the shoulder of another. But once I accepted the fact that Jesus Christ is my human imagination and the cause of everything I am aware of, I knew I couldn’t pass the buck any more, but had to do something about it. So I, the Father, began to prune the vine.534 ¶21

The entire 15th chapter of the Book of John is devoted to this pruning of the vine. He starts off: “I am the true vine. My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch of mine that bears no fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” The tree in your garden may be lovely to look at and it may pain you to cut a certain branch, but you know you must do it if you want good fruit next year. That is life. Consciousness (the I AM) is the eternal vine. Your eternal body is the Imagination, which is God himself. We are all members of the divine body – Jesus; therefore humanity is truly the body of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every child is part of that universal body; and when he knows that Jesus Christ is his own wonderful human imagination, he is confused for the moment, until the realisation rearranges itself within him. Then he takes himself in hand, determined to do something about it.534 ¶22

I tell you from experience, if you will take yourself in hand and really believe in Christ in you to the point that you will turn to no other causation, but will prune your thoughts morning, noon, and night, your world will change. It will mold itself in harmony with the change which has taken place in you, for your outer world is forever reflecting your inner, imaginal acts.534 ¶23

This is the great story that is told today. Jesus Christ is not a man who was nailed upon a wooden cross, or hanged upon a tree on the outside. The tree spoken of in the Book of Acts is Man himself. The brain is the root, with the veins and arteries as the tree and its branches. This is the tree of life spoken of in the 4th chapter of Daniel. It was felled but its root was not disturbed so that the tree could reverse itself, and its power – which had gone down into generation – could be turned up into regeneration.534 ¶24

When that hunger comes upon you, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. But be not deceived; the kingdom of God will not come with signs to be observed. Let no one tell you: “Here it is,” or: “There” for the being you are seeking is the cause of your life. That being is God the Father, who is in his kingdom, and that kingdom is within you. Suddenly the drama called Jesus Christ will unfold within you and you will know the joy that comes with fulfillment.534 ¶25

When this plan unfolds, you sleep differently, you wake differently. There isn’t a moment in time when you could not close your eyes and willingly depart, for you know the Word has unfolded in you. Yet night after night the visions continue to possess you, all based upon the promises of God as recorded in the Old Testament. Every night when I close my eyes to this world, I enter that world – the world of Spirit waking – and fulfill the word of God.534 ¶26

Now, I received two letters this week regarding dreams of horses. Always bear in mind that a dream is a parable with a single point of truth. In one lady’s dream she was driving down the highway with her husband, when she looked back to see two wild horses running toward a deep cliff. The younger one leaped across the cliff into rich pasture, but the older one fell on the highway. Although she knew he was not injured she felt sorry for him, and as she reached out to him, he got to his feet and came to her for comfort.534 ¶27

The horse is a symbol of ones understanding. She has not completely discarded the old, yet it is not equal to the new understanding of the eternal truth, for the younger horse made it beautifully across the cliff. She didn’t go to bed that night to conjure horses. They came to her, for now she is riding a new understanding and the true word of God is becoming alive within her. In the 12th chapter of Numbers we are told that God speaks to man through the language of dream. If God is speaking, you want to pay attention and extract the single jet of truth in what he is saying.534 ¶28

Another lady dreamed of three horses – a white, black, and pale one, all living on her thousand-acre estate. Men offered her a fantastic price for the estate; yet she knew what they really wanted was her white horse and she didn’t want to part with it. Time and time again they tried to kill her or injure her in some way, yet the white horse always appeared to redeem her in a human manner.534 ¶29

In the Book of Revelation we are told that Jesus Christ rides the white horse. Here we see this lady isn’t completely in control of her understanding, but she has found it and is redeemed by it even though she is still seeking herself, because her enemies are her beliefs based upon her early training, which came back to haunt her. In her letter to me she wondered if she had already ridden the red horse of conflict, since she did not see one. I tell you all: don’t try to put something into your dreams that is not there. She didn’t dream of a red horse, so why mention him? A dream has only one central jet of truth. In her case it is the white horse, the symbol of the redeemer, who is your own wonderful human imagination. Now let us go into the silence.534 ¶30

The Tree of Life

Our evangelists, the unknown authors of the gospels, knew that people understood best what they could see in picture form, so they told God’s plan of redemption in the form of a tale that it could be seen and not forgotten. They knew the risk they ran. They knew that those who could see the picture mentally could easily mistake the personification which conveyed the truth for a person and the vehicle which conveyed the instruction for the instruction, yet they took the greatest of all truths and embodied it in a tale, that it may enter lowly doors. It was Paul who said: “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh?”525 ¶1

I tell you: the entire Christian and Jewish world has ended with the flesh. They are unable to think of Jesus Christ as a pattern of redemption, but only as a man of flesh who is unique and different from themselves. Paul is urging all to see the Spirit, the pattern which is contained in every child born of woman and to remember that spiritual pattern called Jesus Christ. I tell you: belief can cause that pattern to be fertilized, then the time element will enter for its development and no one can stop its fulfillment. Just as the egg in a woman does not unfold until it is fertilized, so is this spiritual seed in man. After fertilization a built-in time begins, and the savior in man (which is a pattern) begins to bloom. Man has been taught to believe that Jesus Christ is a man external to himself, but Jesus Christ is contained within man as a pattern. He is God’s vision of man and that vision is forever. It was God who said: “Write the vision, make it plain upon canvas so he may run who reads it. For the vision has its own appointed hour; it ripens, it will flower. If it be slow wait, for it is sure and it will not be late.”525 ¶2

The pattern is perfect, and from the moment of fertilization a built-in time schedule begins, and thirty years later the tree of life comes into bloom. I have experienced this pattern. It is not unique to the thing called Neville, but is a pattern which is contained in every child born of woman. It has bloomed in me in its fullness and now I know that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal plan for man’s redemption. When I share my experiences I do not make any claim to be better than or above others; I simply reveal how the tree of life has bloomed in me. That is all.525 ¶3

Now, the story is told that he took twelve up to Jerusalem, and said: “All that is written of me by the prophets must be fulfilled.” Although they heard his words they did not understand them, for they could not grasp what the prophets had said. Only the Risen Christ can interpret scripture. Only his finger can trace these ambiguous statements and give them their heavenly meaning. Reason can give you many meanings, but the real meaning can only be betrayed by the Risen Christ because he has experienced it. Only one who has been born from above can reveal the truth of the statement: “You must be born from above.” I have heard unnumbered arguments about that statement. Some claim it means a radical change in one’s behavior, as those who were once violent become quiet, tender, and considerate. But I tell you: it hasn’t a thing to do with that. The event is literally true. You are actually born from above. This I know from experience.525 ¶4

In the 50th Psalm the Lord speaks, saying: “The world and all within it is mine. The cattle on a thousand hills are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, I would simply slay and eat.” And in the 17th chapter of John he says: “All mine are thine and thine are mine.” If all that God the Father possesses is yours, must you confine this thought only to things of this world? Could you not go beyond this world and enter his nature? What is the nature of He who owns the world and all within it? Is it not Fatherhood? If all that He is, is yours to know, and He is God the Father - then you must know that you are God the Father. And to know that you are a Father you must have a child to bear witness to that fact, and God’s child is yours. God gave himself to you one hundred per cent, saying: “All mine are thine and thine are mine.” Only one who has experienced this can compel such an ambiguous statement to yield its heavenly meaning.525 ¶5

Only when the tree of life begins to bud and bear its fruit in you, will you know who you really are. Why are you weak? Why are you limited in this little garment of flesh? Because of God’s incarnation. He is not pretending he is in a human body. God had to empty himself of all that is he. Though he was rich he became poor, that by his poverty you may become rich. His incarnation is a complete embodiment wherein He took on all of the limitations of human knowledge. Incarnating myself in a little time slot called 1905, I took upon myself all of the beliefs that are related to that time. Born a Caucasian under the British flag, I adopted the American flag. These are my restrictions. The beliefs I inherited as a Britisher and adopted as an American were woven together within this time slot, and they are all limited. In order to make them real I had to make it a complete incarnation. If I did not, it would not be a real incarnation and only a masquerade, and God is not masquerading in this world. You completely emptied yourself of your true identity to take upon yourself the limitations and restrictions of this world. And while you are here, God’s pattern unfolds from within and you discover that you are He.525 ¶6

Jesus Christ is personified in scripture as a man, but you are that man. You are the one who will experience the story of the gospel. Man cannot understand truth in its unvarnished, unveiled state, as I tell it to you. They can accept it only when it is embodied in a tale. And the one billion Christians and Jews of the world, not understanding the great principle, worship its personification. They would not believe me if tomorrow I told them that Jesus Christ is a pattern, that he lived and lives as the only reality. But I tell you: Jesus Christ is the only thing worth living for, because unless he unfolds himself in you, you are as nothing. Only as he unfolds himself in you can the tree of life bear its fruit.525 ¶7

It is my hope that the day is not far off when you will be called by the Father in you and his vision of you will be fertilized. Christ is God’s vision of man, which is fertilized by union with God, at which time a built-in time table begins. There will be thirty years between that fertilization and the first bud to appear on the tree of life which you are. And from that moment on you can count the days, which will add up to one thousand two hundred and sixty. This is the story the Christian world observes and calls Easter. We think it is a unique day and keep it for a person, although Paul condemned the keeping of any day, saying: “I notice you observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid I have labored over you in vain,” because Christ is not a person.525 ¶8

If you would only bear in mind that Easter is the moment when the eruption occurs, you would realize it could be any day. It could be now, right in this audience, and at any moment in time. If you can recall the moment you had union with the Risen Lord, you will start your mission based upon experience exactly thirty years later. You can count it to the very day. The first bud to appear is your resurrection, which is nothing more than the transformation of the cross, which is the transfiguration. It’s a complete change of being. Thinking now as a being of flesh, you resurrect into and think as a being of Spirit once more. I know, for I have experienced this change, yet I remain in the flesh to tell it to you to the best of my ability.525 ¶9

Not everyone can take it, but I try to make man see Christ as a principle rather than a little historical event - which he is not. Jesus Christ is history, in the sense that the pattern erupts in a person at a certain moment in time. Two thousand years ago the tree of life began to bear its fruit, but that tree is every child born of woman. Blake saw it so clearly, and said: “The gods of the earth and sea sought through nature to find this tree, but their search was all in vain; there grows one in the human brain,”525 ¶10

That is where the tree of life begins to bloom again. In the winter the tree is leafless and appears to be dead, and then one morning a little leaf appears and you know the tree which seemed dead during the winter is alive once more. Like the tree you awaken and come out of a body that appears dead when you look at it. And then the leaves begin to unfold, one after the other, as the tree bursts into bloom and you fulfill scripture.525 ¶11

Then you, who know you are the Resurrected Christ, share your knowledge with a world who believes in a little flesh and blood one, and cannot believe you because all they can see is that which covers your true identity.525 ¶12

Scripture has taken place in me. I, the Resurrected Christ, am speaking to you through a garment called Neville, and because of my experiences I can trace these ambiguous statements of scripture and extract their heavenly meaning. In the 24th chapter of the Book of Luke it is said that only after the resurrection could anyone understand what he was talking about. Prior to that no one understood, not even his twelve. They questioned his meaning when he said he would rise again on the third day, and they could not understand when he said he had to suffer first, rise, and then bring them with him into the same kingdom that his God had prepared.525 ¶13

This month everyone will celebrate external mysteries and keep alive the memory of a man. But Jesus Christ is not a man; he is God’s pattern of redemption for you. The same pattern is buried in all. It is the divine vision God keeps in time of your troubles. Regardless of the state you make manifest on the outside, God sees you as his pattern in full bloom and his vision has its own appointed hour. It will ripen and flower. If to you it seems long in the coming, wait - for it is sure and will not be late. Then you can count the days between the appearance of the first little sprig (which is resurrection) and the descent of the dove which brings the tree into full bloom, and it will be exactly one thousand two hundred and sixty days.525 ¶14

Now, what on earth would you hear that would compare to this story? If you owned the outer world but did not become God, it would be as nothing, for everything here will fade. How many civilizations will rise and fall before the culmination of the whole, no one knows. Today we think America is forever and Russia feels the same way. England thought their power would always be great, as did ancient Rome, Greece, and Spain; yet they all came into being like a wave, then breaking, dissolved into nothingness as their power diminished. We are a great power today but one day it will come to its climax, wane, and vanish. This is true of Russia and China, too. Nations rise and fall, but the important thing is to individually fulfill scripture.525 ¶15

Each and every individual will one day hatch out God’s plan called Christ, and know himself to radiate and reflect the glory of God and bear the express image of his person. That pattern is God’s vision of you, and he waits for that moment in time when the suffering is over. He knows what you have gone through and in his infinite mercy has hidden them from you. But when the time is fulfilled he will call you, embrace and send you, as himself. Then, thirty years later, the first little sprig will appear on your tree of life in the form of your resurrection. This is immediately followed by your birth from above. Then comes God’s son, David, to reveal your Fatherhood. Your spiritual body is split and you ascend into the kingdom, as it reverberates like thunder. Then the tree comes into full bloom with the descent of the dove.525 ¶16

The current issue of the New York Times book review is devoted to religion, of which they make so little. They speak of the Bible as filled with myths and not based on reality, quoting Dr. So-and-so and Dr. So-and-so, who are all men without vision and unable to believe its truth. The evangelists knew this when they told their story, just as the poet Tennyson knew when he said: “Truth embodied in a tale shall enter in at lowly doors.” Scriptural truth is told in the form of a tale so that men will accept it. Thoughts put into picture form can tell a story man can remember, but the uncovered truth they cannot retain.525 ¶17

If I tell the average person that he contains within himself a plan which is called Jesus Christ, he could not grasp the thought. But I tell you that Jesus Christ is in you as your hope of glory, and urge you to set your hope fully upon this grace that is coming to you as God’s gift of himself. The average person would rather believe that some man is responsible for them, that he died for them on the outside and in some strange way he will suffer for them, even though they suffer. Always there is a “he” on the outside rather than a pattern on the inside. But I tell you: after the tribulations God’s plan of salvation will erupt within you, and it will not be one second late in the coming.525 ¶18

Today people are talking about earthquakes and their convulsions. The Secretary of State was questioned for hours on TV today, and he said we had enough armaments to destroy every person in the world a thousand times over, but we need more. When I heard that statement, I said to myself: if this isn’t an insane asylum, what is? Our congressmen just gave themselves a 43 per cent raise, then increased our tax ten per cent. They call it a surtax. I read in this morning’s paper that our city has granted the gas company the right to raise us four per cent to pay their surtax. I am paying my own surtax and now I must help pay the city’s surtax of $21 million. They promise to take it off when the debt is paid. Do you want to bet?525 ¶19

We are all like sheep being led to the slaughter. I do not know how many civilizations will rise and fall before the ultimate has been attained. But I do know that God is in control, and he has planned everything as it has come out and as it will be consummated. No matter what happens, you will not be lost. I know, for the truth of life has bloomed in me in its fullness. There is not a thing left other than to tell it. Like Paul, I am remaining in a body that is weak, to tell the world that Jesus Christ is nothing more than a wonderful pattern of redemption, which is contained in every child born of woman. He is God’s vision of that child. God does not see the horror the child must go through; he sees only his vision which must erupt, and no one can delay it or hasten its coming. And when it erupts, that individual is conditioned for the new age, called the kingdom of God.525 ¶20

This month, due to tradition, we will observe days such as Good Friday and Easter. Enjoy them if you feel like it. They are lovely, even though Paul felt that because they were kept alive he had labored in vain. But if you do observe the days, see them as a pattern contained in you which will erupt in time. And then, because of your experiences you too will cause these ambiguous statements to yield their heavenly meaning.525 ¶21

A few of you have shared your experiences with me and I know your seed has been fertilized, and in thirty years the tree of life in you will begin to bloom and reach fulfillment in 1260 days. That final bloom is the descent of the dove. In the book section of the New York Times they made light of the descent of the dove, claiming it was a stupid idea for people to believe, yet it is so true when experienced.525 ¶22

And on TV today I watched these so-called wise men sitting before the camera, all well groomed, each playing his part to perfection. They knew they were on camera and everyone was trying to mug that camera, knowing he was being exposed to a nation. Their faces are now registered on the minds of those who think that they are important, and they go blindly on that way; yet the only important thing in the world is to awaken from this dream of life. And the only thing that can awaken you is God’s gift of himself, which is the pattern in you called Jesus Christ. His sleep is your awakening in this world, and his awakening in you is your redemption. Only when he awakes in you can the tree of life bloom once more, as you leave this world of limitation and enter the world of eternity.525 ¶23

Now let us go into the silence.525 ¶24

You Can Never Outgrow I AM

A man can never outgrow or lose the God he knows in a first person, present tense experience. And when he finds this God he tells his brothers, saying: “If I had not come and spoken to you, you would have no sin, but now you have no excuse for your sins.” God reveals himself to man as his eternal contemporary, saying: “Unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins,” but man finds it almost impossible to keep the tense. He thinks of God in the third person, addresses him in the second person, but can only know God in a first person, present tense experience. Just imagine – no one can sin until God reveals himself to the individual in a first person, present tense experience. Only then can man have no excuse for his sin. And when one who finds God tells his brothers, he receives no greater reception than the first one did, because they see him as a man of flesh and blood, and cannot see this invisible being who says: “I came down from heaven.” Man is looking for Christ to come from without, but his revelation is whispered from within.521 ¶1

“I tell you: I have been crucified with Christ. It is not I who lives, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” In that act he, whose name is I AM, became me. And if I do not believe that my I amness is he, I will die in my sin. When asked to identify his Father, he said: “If you knew me, you would not ask, for no man can know me without knowing God, for he and I are one.” This is not a physical man speaking to another, but self speaking to self.521 ¶2

What child is not aware that he (or she) is? And to be aware is to say, “I am,” the name God revealed to Moses on the mountaintop. All things are possible to God, but man has difficulty keeping the tense. He speaks of God in third person, prays to God in the second person, but can only know God in first person, present tense, for “I am the Lord, thy God and besides me there is no other God.” In the 50th Psalm these words are put into the mouth of David: “Against thee and against thee only have I sinned.” Only I, who must know myself in a first person present tense experience, have sinned and I have only sinned against myself! Do you believe that Jesus Christ is in you as your very self? Are you willing to test yourself?521 ¶3

Let me tell you of one lady who did. Many years ago while living in a rooming house in Brooklyn, with very little money, this lady started each day with these words: “I am a very wealthy woman. I have $50,000 in cash.” Every Sunday morning she would go to the corner and buy a Sunday Times for her neighbor, Miss Mead, who was a little old lady living frugally and rarely left the house. Within a year after this lady began starting her day claiming her wealth, Miss Mead died, leaving her $50,000 in cash, plus jewelry valued in excess of $30,000. She received an estate of over $100,000 by keeping God in the present tense.521 ¶4

My friend has now found him and I want all who hear me to find him, for when you find this God you will never outgrow – and therefore never lose – him, for you can never grow outside of self. You may believe in astrology, and outgrowing that belief you may then believe in tea leaves. Outgrowing that, you will find something else to believe in as you grow and outgrow, grow and outgrow; but you cannot outgrow the God you find in the first person, present tense, for when you find him to be your I amness, you have found the only God. One day everyone will find him and join their brothers who, already awakened, are in eternity contemplating this world of death, watching for the little stir of life.521 ¶5

I have been sent to tell you these things, for if I had not come and spoken to you, you would have no sin. You could not miss the mark because you did not have any, but now you have no excuse for missing it. I have revealed God to you in first person saying: “He who sees me sees him who sent me.” I was sent by my Father, he whom you call God, only I know my Father and you know not your God, for I know that I and my Father are one.521 ¶6

In the 1st chapter of Colossians, Paul tells us: “The gospel which you have heard has been preached to every creature under heaven,” and in the 3rd chapter of Galatians he states: “The scripture, foreseeing that all would be saved through faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘In you shall all the nations be blessed.’”521 ¶7

In the state of faith called Abraham we heard the story and then went astray. Falling asleep, we forgot our true identity and worshiped idols. Speaking of God in the third person, and to him in the second person, we have forgotten the God who gave us birth. Yet I tell you: God is eternally contemporary for he is our awareness of being.521 ¶8

Now, without faith it is impossible to please God, and faith does work on this level. Everything you possess was brought into being through faith, and the glory of faith lies in its power to link us to the heavenly realm. Having heard salvation’s story, can you have faith in this divine vision (which is the gospel) in the time of trouble? No matter what happens to you, can you center yourself upon the vision? Can you believe that, housed within you as your I amness, is the only creative power in the world? I hope so, because your faith in God is measured by your confidence in yourself.521 ¶9

When you imagine a state, do you believe that the scene has the power to externalise itself? Or do you feel you must pray to a being on the outside for help? I tell you: there is no being on the outside. The creative power of the world is housed within you now. Sit down and imagine a state of confidence that it must externalise itself. Believe that because all things are possible to imagine, the state you have imagined must become an external fact. I have tried this time and time again, and it has always proved itself in performance. Now I share this knowledge with everyone who will listen. How many believe my words and put them into practice I do not know. I only know that man finds it hard to keep the tense. Religious leaders speak of God in the third person as if he were on the outside, yet I tell you he comes from within. When Moses heard the words: “I AM has sent me unto you,” it seemed to come from without, yet it was whispered from within.521 ¶10

There is no evidence of an historical Jesus Christ. We have the essence of Christ, but not an historical one. The being within me that is speaking, is the Christ, but that which is talking to you is only a garment. Everyone knows its background. Its parents are known, its physical brothers and its limitations; yet the being wearing this garment of flesh came out from God who is my Father, for I am from above. The body I wear is from below. I am in the world but not of it, for the being who awoke within me is the one speaking to you now. It is not the same being who entertains guests in our home or enjoys dining in a good restaurant, for this being is not in any way a part of this world. This is the being in you that I am trying to reach tonight, trying to stir and awaken to return to the one grand I AM. Believe me when I tell you the only purpose in life is to discover who you are.521 ¶11

Against thee, O Lord, and thee only have I sinned. Addressing him in the second person as “against thee,” he realises the Lord is within him; that he is the “I” of man who inspired the prophets to write what they did. Having conceived the play and coming out from the Father to play it, “I” must fulfill what I foretold I would do, and I will.521 ¶12

Christianity is based upon the affirmation that a certain series of supernatural events happened in which God revealed himself in action for the salvation of man. I have experienced every one of these events. As each event took place I recorded the date in my bible, even to a simple little one like: “What you must do, do quickly.” Against that statement I marked the date of October 10, 1966, for I had been preaching to a group of twelve men, all seated on the floor, when one man jumped up and departed quickly. Then a man dressed in costly robes entered, approached me and unveiled my arm revealing the arm of the Lord. But the one who revealed it moved quickly, as that simple statement dictated.521 ¶13

The words of the Lord recorded in the red letter edition of the Bible will be fulfilled by you. Whether he quotes the Old Testament or relates to it, you are predestined to fulfill the red letters recorded there. The entire drama has unfolded in me, so I know the perfect pattern that God sent into the world.521 ¶14

We are told the first shall be last, and the last first. In the story the last act is recorded as the crucifixion yet it is the first. I have been crucified with Christ. It is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave himself for me by actually becoming me.521 ¶15

His name is I AM. That’s the Lord God Jehovah, who is Christ. He is God the Father who became you. His death – in the sense of complete forgetfulness as to his true identity and belief that he is actually you – is your life. It is this being who tells you: “Unless I die thou can’st not live, but if I die I shall rise again and thou with me.” He rose in me. He proved that he could die and rise, for when he rose I rose knowing I AM He. He became me in the most intimate way by becoming my awareness. Then he talked to me and revealed himself to me from within my very self. In the beginning the words seemed to come from another, as though someone on the outside had spoken them; yet they were whispered from within as everything said of Jesus Christ unfolded in me.521 ¶16

Can you accept my words and keep the tense? It is so very important to do so, for if you turn to the second person, or the third, you have created a false God and a false Jesus Christ. Do you not realise that Jesus Christ is in you? For unless you believe that your I amness is He, you will die in your sins. Put the little word ‘is’ in the sentence: “Unless you believe that I am is He, you die in your sins,” to give it meaning, for without it you may think a being on the outside is speaking and keeping you from missing the mark.521 ¶17

If you want to be rich and do not believe that you are the cause of wealth, then you will go on missing the mark by remaining poor. The true goal is to know God is your own wonderful human imagination. This God you will never lose, for when he reveals himself within you it is in a first person, present tense experience. As God unfolds himself within you he doesn’t call himself “God,” but “I AM.”521 ¶18

It was “I” who awoke and rose in that tomb; no one else was there. I had no help getting out; “I” pushed the stone away myself. And when I looked back to see that out of which I came, I saw the three witnesses as recorded in Genesis. It is said that Abraham (the state of faith in which I started) was seated by the door of his tent in the heat of the day when the three men appeared. As one spoke concerning the child, Abraham knew he was the Lord. That child is Isaac, which means, “he laughs.” I found that promised child. Like Simeon, I took that promised child in my arms and he laughed.521 ¶19

So who is Christ? And who is the Lord? Did scripture not fulfill itself in me? I have come only to fulfill scripture, and this I have done. I know I am the temple of the Living God, for my body was torn from top to bottom. I found my son, He who was set up in the beginning to reveal me as the Father. This is not what the priesthoods teach; but I am telling you what I have experienced, for I have found David. He cried unto me: “Thou art my Father.” I do not care what the priesthoods of the world may say; I am telling you what I know from experience. If they do not believe in me, they will continue to live in sin by worshipping a false God. All the priesthoods and rabbis worship an idol, for the true God cannot be worshipped in any tense other than the present. His name is I Am.521 ¶20

No picture on a wall or stature in a garden is the Lord. “Make no graven image unto me.” If you do not see him as yourself, you will not find him, and when he comes he reveals himself through his son calling you Father. This you set up in the beginning and then you agreed to play all the parts. Not one part can you condemn, for all contribute to the end when you find God. The goal of life is to find him, not on the outside, but within yourself in the first person, present tense.521 ¶21

The world thinks I am insane when I tell them who I am, for they see the garment of flesh I wear and know I am subject to all its weaknesses. But because the drama of the scripture has unfolded within me, I know how true scripture is. I cannot describe the joy that is yours when you awaken. I can only say that the world into which I go night after night is entirely different, and earth does not contain anything which I can use as an image to describe that world. I return through darkness into this world every day to share my experiences with everyone who will listen, while some believe me and some do not.521 ¶22

My most intimate friends may not believe me, for they know and judge me by my human weaknesses. My brothers, knowing we were sired by the same father and came out of the same mother’s womb, cannot believe my experiences are related to scripture. But I am not asking you to believe in Neville, but to believe in God who is your own wonderful human awareness.521 ¶23

I have been sent to tell you who God is. He who sent me is one with me, for although he seemed to be another when I stood in his presence, when we embraced we fused and became one. The recording angel, the ledger, the being of love who embraced me, is within.521 ¶24

In the beginning I foreknew myself. Through foreknowledge I was predestined to be called from the world of death, called from within myself by an infinite being of love, wearing the human form divine, to be embraced and sent. And the moment we embraced we fused, and I knew myself to be infinite love. There had been a seeming separation when I entered a world that was not mine, to experience all of its horrors until its end when I am called, acquitted, justified, and glorified.521 ¶25

Now there is nothing left for me to do but tell it to everyone who will listen and urge them to set their entire hope upon this grace which is coming to all at the unveiling of Christ in each individual, in the first person, present tense.521 ¶26

While you are here you can become independently secure, certainly. All of these things are possible to you, but the real objective in your life is to find God, the cause of all life. To believe in God does not aid you. The question is: do you believe in yourself? Can you believe you are rich when you have no money? Can you continue to believe it throughout the day and fall asleep night after night as though you were? If you will, you will become rich. Then fulfill another desire and then another, and one day you will discover the one who made it possible. That one is God.521 ¶27

Millions of people claim to believe in God in the third person, but they do not know God. Only when God reveals himself in the first person, present tense can he be known. That God cannot be outgrown or lost, for you cannot outgrow I am. I am is the theme of the Book of John, which goes back to the 3rd chapter of the Book of Exodus, the 14th verse, as: “Go say, ‘I am has sent me to you.’” As a man, I am revealing God’s true name, but those who hear my words know the outer garment I wear and judge it. They know my weaknesses, but they do not know the Lord.521 ¶28

I tell you: when you know the Lord (or rather are known by him) you will experience a thrill that is beyond description. Your shock will turn to joy, however, as the drama of one called Jesus Christ unfolds within you.521 ¶29

In the meantime you can test him in the world of Caesar. There is no limit to his power, so take that power which became you and attach it to your desire. Sleep every night so attached to your desire that you feel its reality, and in no time you will prove my words. Within a year the lady in New York City received her $50,000, pressed down and running over. She knew exactly what she did and would never have guessed that the little old lady she bought the paper for every Sunday morning would be used as the means to give her the wealth she claimed.521 ¶30

This lady has found God, yet she is still inclined to speak of him in the third person. Man is in the habit of thinking of God and not as God. It is so easy to forget to keep the tense.521 ¶31

Every good, well-trained Jew is familiar with the first five books of the Old Testament. They have read the Book of Exodus many times and believe God is the great I AM; yet they still think of him in the third person. They would think that anyone who boldly stood up and proclaimed, “I Am He” was arrogant; yet I tell you that is the only way you will ever find God.521 ¶32

But when he comes, there is no need to brag about it. You know who you are, and when they call you by your earthly name you respond. Perhaps you will have dinner together, but they will continue to be totally unaware of the being within you, and you don’t always throw pearls before swine, because they are not prepared to receive them. You will join their party and enjoy the evening as you let the outer man play his part, but you know the inner man, the one they know not of. That man is Jesus Christ.521 ¶33

There is only one Christ. Everyone has been crucified with that one Christ can make the statement: “It is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in this body of flesh and blood, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” God actually became as you are, that you may rise to the one being called God the Father.521 ¶34

As one power, we came down from God to become the gods. In order to descend in power and play these parts we had to enter complete forgetfulness. The actor cannot pretend. He must enter and become the part he has agreed to play. He cannot step upon the stage knowing he is a great actor who everyone recognises. He must lose himself in the character by leaving his personality in the dressing room and entering the stage as the character he is to portray.521 ¶35

So when God stepped upon the stage wearing this, he is Neville, one hundred per cent. He had to completely forget that he was God, yet knowing that he brought with him a pattern which would erupt and his memory would return. I agreed to play the part as Neville. He and I are one, but I am greater than he.521 ¶36

Look upon Jesus Christ as a pattern. I have told you how the pattern erupted in me in the hope that you will believe me. Although a few believe my words, the majority disbelieve fulfilling scripture. “He came unto his own and his own believed him not.” What I tell you and what you are capable of conceiving may be entirely different. Can you receive what I tell you as my own personal experience? I can tell you that scripture is true from beginning to end, but can you believe me enough to set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the unveiling of God within you? I hope so, for God is in you as your I am.521 ¶37

And when he awakes you go through a series of supernatural events called Jesus Christ. Then you will tell your experiences to those who will listen in the hope that they will accept them; but it does not matter if they do or do not, for in the end, you take off your garment of flesh and return to an intimacy that is indescribable. Eyes have not seen or ears heard the things that are already prepared for you. In that world you are in control of everything and everything is alive.521 ¶38

Every night I pass beyond the world of dream to enter the world of reality, and I return each morning through the world of dream to reenter this world of death. This I do night after night, and will continue to do until that moment in time when it pleases the depth of my own being (who is the Father) to take off this garment of flesh and call it a day.521 ¶39

Remember, you can only sin against that self of you who is God. And any time you think of God in any tense other than the first person, present, you are entertaining an idol, no matter what you call it. If you leave this auditorium tonight conscious of being God, you are walking in the knowledge of the true God and all things are possible to you. Walk in complete trust that things are as you want them to be. This is loyalty to unseen reality. This is faith.521 ¶40

There are only two things that displease God: One is lack of faith in I AM He, and the other is eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Before descending into the land of forgetfulness you made yourself a promise that one day your memory would return and you would realise you were the creator of it all, for God gave you himself. He actually became you, as told in the story of Melchizedek. He had no father, no mother, no beginning, and no end. In the end you become a priest after the order of Melchizedek, knowing the whole vast infinite universe was created by and sustained by you.521 ¶41

Now, this is really incredible. I recently read that the great Einstein said: “I rejoice in the discovery of the uniformity of the laws of nature and whoever is behind it that we call the Lord. But that man should survive the disintegration of the brain, to me is unthinkable.” If a man as wonderful as Einstein feels that the story of the gospel is unthinkable, then condemn no one. You can’t deny Einstein’s greatness. He was tender, kind and sincere; but in spite of that gentility he was quite satisfied to dwell in the uniformity of the laws of nature and whoever is behind it.521 ¶42

I tell you there is one behind it all. He so loved you he became you and the day is coming when you will know that you are he. You will know you are not the creation of the city, but its creator. You are not the made, but the maker. Whether you are male or female, you are the emanation of the Lord yet his wife till the sleep of death is past. Then you will awake to know you never left your heavenly home, you were never born and never die, save in your dreams. Now let us go into the silence.521 ¶43
