The Coin of Heaven

This being my last Sunday for a year, I wish to leave no doubt in your mind of what I tried to tell you in the last nineteen lectures. So I am going to ask a question which you can silently answer yourself. Have you lived this life of yours in such a way that you desire to live it again? Well, if you haven’t, you’d better listen very carefully to what I will say this morning, if you have not already started, for may I tell you the next life is this life. When the eye is opened you will see it, that man unless he awakes and changes the tracks of this life he walks them forever. So if you have not lived this life in such a way that you really desire to live it again, you start now to interfere with these tracks and laying new tracks.24 ¶1

Let me give you just one simple little vision; these are all true visions of the speaker. Lying on my bed, suddenly the eye opened, the inner eye opened, and I saw a man casually dressed in working clothes walking the sidewalks of a major city. As he came to a hole that was open to receive coal, in fact the coal had just been delivered, he dropped something from his hand and bending down instead of picking up the thing dropped, he picked up huge hunks of coal that were scattered around the hole, and then my vision relaxed. When I re-concentrated the vision it was on the early part of that scene of the man walking down the sidewalk. He came to the manhole. He dropped, as he had in the previous state, bending down he picked up the coal as he had done before. Everything was in detail. As I saw it for the second time, I said “Now that scene hasn’t changed one iota.” My attention again relaxed; when I re-concentrated it, it was on the early part of the scene. Now I could prophesy for that man; I knew exactly what he would do every moment of time right up to that manhole; that he would drop his package and not pick it up but pick up the coal. I knew he would look into that manhole and then change his mind either because someone below saw him pick it up and he didn’t want the consequences of his action or else he had a change of heart, but I knew in detail what that man would do.24 ¶2

We are walking tracks and the tracks are forever, and by the mere curvature of time your next life is this life. You simply replay it: so if you have not so played it that you are proud of it, you start now and you start the change today. We have given you a system by which you change it.24 ¶3

For those who haven’t heard why I say you walk tracks, you are standing forever in the presence of an infinite and eternal energy, and from this energy all things proceed, but they proceed according to pattern. Energy is moving in a certain pattern and you determine the pattern that it takes, for you actually lay down these tracks within you that energy flows over by the use of your inner conversations. This energy, I call it now mind, follows the tracks laid down in a man’s own inner talking.24 ¶4

So if your inner conversations are not what they should be, I ask you today to start carrying on conversations within yourself from premises of fulfilled ideals; the man you want to be, the woman you want to be, if you have failed so far to embody it, now you begin to assume that you are that man, that you are that woman, and inwardly carry on conversations with your friends, those that respect you, or those you want to respect you, and carry on these conversations from the premises that they see in you the man and the woman that you want the world to see, just as though you were, and these words, inner words, which are really the breeding ground of future action will lay down new tracks and then the energy which is always flowing will flow over these tracks and the conditions and the circumstances of life will change.24 ¶5

If you do not lay new tracks, I will prophesy for you. You will find your self repeating it but you will not know you’ve done it before. If I could only take you now into the inner vision with me and show you this room rising, everything rising in detail like a three dimensional curtain ascending, but everything is moving up and yet it remains. It is so altogether automatic that it ascends every moment of time. The whole world is ascending, and as it ascends the world remains the same. It’s almost as though not a thing has happened, and so you can’t see it, but if the inner eye opens you see it ascend and as it leaves off that which begins is the duplicate, the perfect duplicate of the thing that rose and it rises in a three dimensional manner, so that when a man goes over these tracks he is totally unaware that he has walked them forever.24 ¶6

So I bring you a message to make you conscious: man must awake from the dream where he is simply an automaton. He moves like a machine, then he begins to awake and when he awakes then he is not that man at all that he seemingly in the past played for eternity. He awakes into a new being, a new man.24 ¶7

Now, the new man is a man of new conversations, as told you in Ephesians, “Put off the former conversations, they belong to the old man that is corrupt, and put on the new man by a transformation of mind,” and the new man is identified with completely new words. He speaks only the kind things; he is incapable of any unlovely thought in the world; he is incapable of even listening to the unlovely, for inwardly he speaks only the kind, only the loving things of the world.24 ¶8

Then he finds himself awakening a man within that was asleep; he awakens the second man which is called Christ Jesus in the Bible, which I tell you now is your own wonderful, loving imagination. When imagination awakes it is incapable of being exercised in any way outside of the loving way. So every time you use your imagination lovingly, you are literally awakening this inner man and you’re mediating God to man. If I think of anyone in a loving way, I’m in contact with that being and God flows toward him.24 ¶9

Now because this is my last Sunday I will give you what I gave the class last Friday. Do not see it just as some metaphorical picture; see it as an actual picture. Imagine yourself at the very base of a wonderful waterfall and that water is flowing beautifully on you and imagine it’s flowing through you and now from you and flowing towards someone you think of.24 ¶10

I make this statement because it’s a true statement; we are now in Eden but we are asleep as told you in the second of Genesis; man went sound asleep when he was placed to dress it and to keep it. To awake, do this--just imagine yourself the center through which water radiates and everyone in this world is rooted in me and ends in me as I am rooted in and end in God: so I am in God’s garden, it’s Eden, but in God’s garden every man in the world has a plot, a little garden. In that garden there are trees that grow, you can see them; if I look at this man now and inwardly look at his plot in my garden I will see the trees, some will be called health, some I call wealth, the tree of dignity, the tree of nobility, the tree of being wanted--they may be withered, they will never really die but they may be withered, they are in need of water.24 ¶11

Just imagine that you are watering that plant and see in your mind’s eye the leaves appear on what formerly was a barren plant. See the fruit appear and wherever he is in the world as you water his garden, which really is your own garden, as you water it, he will embody the very qualities that the tree is now beginning to bear and radiate.24 ¶12

You name the tree; whatever you name it, that it is: and you name this one if you know he is unwanted: he wants to be wanted. You name it and let the water flow towards it. Imagine it’s growing healthily in that garden and see it put out its leaves and see it put out its fruit. Wherever he is in the world he will begin to be wanted by people in his world. If he is unemployed, it’s a tree of employment and see it radiate its leaves and radiate its fruit; he will be wanted and he will be gainfully employed.24 ¶13

I tell you this is not just an idle statement. Everyone here can do it and everyone should do it, and when ever you water the tree in anyone’s garden at the same time you are watering your own garden in the eternal one of God. For “I am the vine and ye are the branches”, every man can say the same thing. So as you rise here, there are 2600 of you, you individually are the central vine of God’s garden and everyone in your world is a branch in that vine. So when I, as a central vine, water a branch in my garden, at that same moment I am being watered and my garden is being watered in your wonderful garden. I don’t have to water my own, just by taking care of the many gardens in God’s Eden I take care of my own garden that is in the vine of everyone in the world.24 ¶14

You try it, and you can bless everyone in the world and then eventually the eye opens, the ear opens, the inner man awakes and you see the most glorious world which is always here to be seen, only we in our sleep had shut it out. We shut the whole wonderful golden world out by going to sleep and becoming an automaton; but take me seriously for your next life is this life. You make this life what you want to make it because if you don’t you will find yourself automatically and you won’t even know it, because as a sleeping person you don’t know you are walking the same track, but if I could only take you within me and let you see with the eye of the inner eye and watch these automatons in the world, sleeping people; yes, the eye is open and they seem to be awake, but they’re really sound asleep for they’re repeating the same thing.24 ¶15

Now become conscious; as you become conscious you enter the most glorious circle of awakened humanity. I call it the conscious circle of humanity, or as my old teacher used to call it “The Brothers”. It simply means the awakened man and when he awakes they’re all glorious beings for they are all the image of the Divine One.24 ¶16

So try it, try it today with the art of revision. At the end of this day, review today. If some unlovely thing in the day, don’t allow it. You rewrite it. Take that same scene and rewrite it, and having rewritten it replay it. In your imagination you imagine the action to be unfolding and you replay everything in the world; as you replay it as you ought to have played it the first time you’ve changed it.24 ¶17

And the moment is never receding as people think, the moment is advancing. Now this may seem an insane statement to tell you- -that yesterday is today’s future: it seems insane you think it’s not, it’s past: but by the curvature of time you will discover but you will not know it, because you will be asleep unless you begin to awaken, and you will come upon what is yesteryear in your future, for the moment is never receding, it is always advancing into the future to confront us. And so if you don’t change it, you will simply find yourself repeating over and over what luckily in God’s infinite mercy that sleep shuts out the memory of it, so you are doing it and you think you’re doing it for the first time. But I ask you to awake for the purpose of this platform is to awaken everyone who comes here that we may all enter this brotherhood of awakened humanity.24 ¶18

Now we are told there were “two gifts given to man at birth”--it doesn’t mean this little birth when I left my mother’s womb but when I left the womb of my Father that is the grand womb, the womb of creation when, before the world was, He created me and made me perfect and set me in this world for a purpose, educative purpose, but He gave me two gifts; He gave me His own mind and He gave me the gift of speech, the very thing He used to create a world. So He spoke the world into being and then gave me the gift by which he spoke the world into being; so He gave me mind and speech.24 ¶19

If I use the gift wisely, and do it rightly, I will be led into the realization, into the fulfillment of my every desire; not one is beyond my ability to realize. If I continually use it wisely when I quit the body, as the world calls a man dead, when I leave this into another dimension by the wise use of the same two gifts, I will be brought into the company of the blessed, if I awake.24 ¶20

If I don’t use it wisely, I continue my circle of sleep; if I use it wisely, I will break the circle of recurrence and rise beyond it into eternity. If I don’t, I continue on the curved line of time and repeat it over and over until some day I awake, for I am destined to be conformed to the image of His son.24 ¶21

So I have no doubt that everyone will awake. But why not start the awakening process now? And you start it by practicing the art of revision. You try it; don’t treat it idly. I ask you and I beg you to read and read over and over again the chapter “The Pruning Shears of Revision” and take it day after day, and never let the sun descend upon your wrath--any vexation, or any problem of the day. Resolve it before you sleep and carry that resolved picture into sleep and you will find the inner man awakening.24 ¶22

But you try it with your friends and that you are the grand waterfall. The Bible speaks of water, the mystic knows it does not mean water, it means truth, and so when I see anyone in my mind’s eye and see him free, I am giving him the only truth that will set him free. So if I water his plant, imagine the water is really going to it and I see the leaves begin to appear and that man becoming free: he becomes healthy, he becomes secure, he becomes loved, then those trees are growing beautifully in my garden, and so as I do that, not only will he benefit from my watering his plant but I will benefit, I will begin to awaken. So I ask everyone here to really try it.24 ¶23

Now I know today the title was “The Coin of Heaven”, but this being the last day, I thought I would simply give a sort of quick summary of what I have tried to tell you, for the purpose behind the nineteen lectures was to stimulate you to interfere with your time track that you may do something about it for the passage of time cannot change it.24 ¶24

If you wait, thinking there is going to be some change beyond the grave, I tell you you will wait in vain. There is no transforming power beyond the grave. All transforming power is in man now to interfere with his time track and you interfere with it by simply changing one moment in the course of a day, not accepting it as final no matter how factual the day.24 ¶25

You know you did have that experience. Don’t allow the day to descend upon it and say “Well, I did have it”. Go back to that moment in time. Rewrite it, replay it in the revised version, and do it over and over in your imagination until that takes on the tones of reality. As it takes on the tones of reality you have changed your future. Take another incident and change it and keep on changing all the little episodes, all the little experiences and make them conform to a more idealistic experience and relive it.24 ¶26

If anyone is here for the first time, you might think, well that’s fooling yourself, but you try it. Try it and see if the inner man will not awaken and when he awakens you will see a world that is automatic. You will see a world that’s a machine and the whole vast world playing their parts that they’ve played forever, and will continue to play on the curvature of time forever until he snaps out of it and rises from the dead.24 ¶27

As you are told, “Awake, you that sleep, and rise from the dead.” The state called sleep now is likened unto death, where the son has died, so we are told the second son, the prodigal, that when he returned from that cycle and he was met, the father said: “He that was lost is found, and he that was dead is alive again.” So this state of lost-ness is likened unto death and the only purpose now is to rise; not to amass a fortune, although you are entitled to it, not to become famous, although you are entitled to it, but simply to awake from the state of sleep.24 ¶28

And I know of no other way to awaken a man unless I can show him how mechanical he is. And if you will take and practice seriously the art of revision, the eye will open and you will have the experiences the speaker spoke of. You, too, lying on your bed will find the eye peering into a city that may be 2000 miles away and there you will see more clearly than I see you now and you will watch the tracks of a man, and then disinterest and all of a sudden you decide to once more to be interested and you don’t have a memory image of the man, you see the whole thing all over again. You see the man walk the same sidewalk, he does everything he did a moment before. Then take it back again, that track is laid forever and he will walk it forever until he awakes.24 ¶29

So I ask everyone here to take me seriously. If this seems a bit too mystical for you, I don’t apologize; it’s the only thing I can give you, for as I begin to awake I’ve got to give you the food on which then my father feeds me. He feeds me on new ideas; he changes my values, he changes all my meanings in the world. I don’t have the same meaning I had last year; I don’t have the same values I had last year; for the motives I had last year might have been along a different line; but then all of a sudden things change and you can’t place value where formerly you placed it. You can’t place it on wealth, you can’t place it on names, you can’t place it on recognition. All your values change and then you begin to inwardly see a new wonderful world.24 ¶30

So I tell you this garden of which I speak is a true garden. This you call the world. Don’t believe for one moment you are in exile; this wonderful visible objective world of ours is not a place of exile, it’s the living garment of my father. It really is his living garment but it needs interpreters. Individual men come as they begin to awaken and they will interpret for you this strange discordant harmony, for to you if I tell you, everything in your world is related by affinity to your own mental activity, you can’t see it and so you can’t quite see this discord as related to you if you didn’t think that way that you know of, you weren’t conscious of it.24 ¶31

If you were conscious of the activity within you, you would see everything related to yourself, your own being. What you do not now see you will still know it is still related, so interpreters come because the interpreter as he begins to awaken, he knows this wonderful world has a voice for him that speaks of things behind the veil, behind the veil of your own mind, for behind your face right now there’s an activity, an activity of your own imagination, and that activity, could you see it you would see it projected as the conditions and circumstances of your life.24 ¶32

Not one thing is out of order. Change the activity and you change the world in which you live, and you change that activity by the changing of your inner speech, for speech mirrors your mind and your mind mirrors God. If you don’t change the speech you haven’t changed the activity, and if you don’t change the activity you can’t change the conditions of life, for they only come bearing witness of this inner action of your mind.24 ¶33

So you want to change--I hope you do; but if you can now reflect upon your life, be it ten years, or be it sixty years, and you can’t say within yourself “I would want to live this again if I had the freedom of choice”, then you better start right now changing it, because I make you a prophesy, I make you a promise, your next life is this life.24 ¶34

So if you cannot now in reflection say “I desire to live it again”, then start today to lay down new tracks because if you don’t you’re going to live it again, and living it again you won’t even know you are living it again. It is so altogether automatic, it’s so effortless as you walk the tracks, for you stand in the presence of energy and you can’t stop walking; you’ve laid them and you will walk them, and the curvature of time will bring you back and back and back forever and forever until you break it and you begin to awaken and when you awaken you enter a circle of awakened humanity.24 ¶35

And I’ll tell you you know them more intimately than anyone you now know in the state of sleep. There is not a person on earth that you know as intimately as those who have awakened when you awake. When you go into their presence and you mingle with them you become one. You do not lose your identity: in fact you tend ever toward greater and greater individualization. You never become absorbed and lose your identity, but as you awaken you awaken to the being that you always were but you had forgotten it and went sound asleep.24 ¶36

There is a beauty in the inner man that the outer has never touched, never scarred, and so as you awaken and they will be there to meet you because they are awaiting eagerly for the breaking of the circle of recurrence. So you try it.24 ¶37

We have told you many things this year, many things that seemed too mystical, but I warned you, when I took it four Sundays ago, this year I would give you the end of a golden string and I called upon you to roll it into a ball, and if you did it would lead you in at heaven’s gate built in Jerusalem’s wall. Well, I felt I have given you that string but I cannot roll it into a ball for you.24 ¶38

I promise you I will water your garden but it won’t awaken you, it will awaken you only to lovelier things in a way, but it will not really break the circle for you, so I offer you now this day again the end of the golden string but I call upon you to wind it and roll it into a ball by the daily application of the principle of revision, by daily watching your inner actions and see if they correspond to the actions you desire to perform in the outer world. Watch your conversations carefully; are they from premises of fulfilled ideas? If they’re not, go back and make them and make them actually correspond to the ideal you want to embody in this world. Start, that is winding it into a ball and it will lead you in at heaven’s gate built in Jerusalem’s wall.24 ¶39

I have no doubt in my mind for I know from experience that’s how I opened up that wall; I opened it up by application. So I warned you every time I have taken the platform that the knowledge you have now is of no avail unless it’s applied. A little knowledge if carried out in action is more profitable than much knowledge which you neglect to carry out in action. If you had all the knowledge in the world and you didn’t put it into practice, you wouldn’t awaken.24 ¶40

Now here this morning everyone has heard it; you take it today and start this day revising, and watch the circle begin to snap, watch the eye begin to open, and I tell you there isn’t a gift on earth, there isn’t a possession in the world that you would want more than the opening of the eye when the eye opens. That’s why I say your values change, the meaning of life changes, for you wouldn’t sell the eye that opens for all the wealth of the world; you wouldn’t exchange it for any recognition in the world now conferred upon the so-called great. You see the so called great all equally sound asleep playing their parts walking curved lines, and then you snap it and move into a wonderful world of awakened humanity and there you see these glorified beings, but really glorified beings, who preceded you into the conscious circle of humanity. And now my time is up.24 ¶41

Resurrection

“Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel.’” Jesus’ ministry began after that of John ended in Judea. “Jesus, when He began His ministry, was about thirty years of age.” The soil of the centuries had been ploughed and harrowed for the gospel of God. And men began to experience God’s plan of salvation.684 ¶1

The authors of the gospel of God are anonymous, and all that we can really know about them must be derived from our own experience of scripture. Their authority was not in scripture as a dead written code but in their own experience of scripture. Their gospel was not a new religion but the fulfillment of one as old as the faith of Abraham. “And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham” . And Abraham believed God and lived in accordance with the preview of the story of salvation that God granted to him.684 ¶2

The unknown authors of the gospel emphasize the fulfillment of scripture in the life of Jesus Christ. Christ in us fulfills the scripture. “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” . “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me” . “For if we have been united with Him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like his” . The repetition in us, through His indwelling, has been expressed by Johann Scheffler, a seventeenth-century mystic. “Though Christ a thousand times In Bethlehem be born, If He’s not born in thee, Thy soul is still forlorn.”684 ¶3

“And He said to them, ‘O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into His glory?’ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself… everything written about Me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled. Then He opened their minds to understand the scriptures” . “And they read from the book, from the law of God, with interpretation, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading” . The Old Testament is a prophetic blueprint of the life of Jesus Christ. The gospel of God is the revelation of the future granted to Abraham. “Abraham rejoiced that he was to see My day” . It is about the risen Christ. Participation in the life of the age to come depends on God’s act of raising the dead. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is God’s victory. That we shall be “united with Him in a resurrection like His” is the promise of God’s victory for all.684 ¶4

But before the day of victory, man must be refined in the furnace of affliction. “I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake, for My own sake, I do it, for how should My Name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another” . It takes the furnace of affliction to conform us to the image of His Son, and therefore to the image of the Father, for the Father and the Son are one. “Then came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before… and comforted him for all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him… And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning” . The story of Job is the story of man, the innocent victim of a cruel experiment on the part of God. “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image’” . Yet “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in us” and that glory is nothing less than the unveiling of God the Father in us, as us.684 ¶5

Nothing can take the place of personal witness to God’s plan of salvation. The plan of the mystery is inherent in the creation. What is so prophetically spoken to the world in the Old Testament is realized in one’s own personality. All was foretold me but naught could I foresee, but I learned who Jesus Christ really is after the story was re-enacted in me. The man who has experienced Scripture cannot escape the responsibility of telling its meaning to his fellow men. The unknown writers of the gospel of God were not describing situations and events of the past as historians. Their story of Jesus Christ is their own experience of God’s plan of redemption as men who themselves had experienced redemption. They related their own experiences. They are witnesses of the first order testifying to the truth of God’s Word, not hesitating to interpret the Old Testament according to their own supernatural experiences. Having experienced the story of salvation I can add my testimony to theirs and say that all is done as they have told it. Their experiences, thus attested, confront men with the responsibility of accepting or rejecting their interpretation of the Old Testament. Their testimony should be heard and responded to. One must experience Scripture for himself before he can begin to understand how wonderful it is.684 ¶6

They give no account of the personal appearance of Jesus, because when the story of salvation is recreated in man, man will know that “I am He”. “He who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” . “Being in the form of God,… He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross” of man. He abdicated His divine form and assumed the form of a slave. He did not merely disguise Himself as a slave but became one, subject to all human weaknesses and limitations. God who entered death’s door, the human skull, Golgotha, is now the world’s Savior.684 ¶7

God is our salvation. “Our God is a God of salvation; and to God, the Lord, belongs escape from death” . “Unless I die thou canst not live; But if I die I shall arise again and thou with Me” . The grain of wheat sets out the mystery of life through death. “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” . This is the secret of God’s plan of salvation. God achieves His purpose by self-limitation, by contraction in order to expand. God Himself enters Death’s Door, my skull, and lays down in the Grave with me. And with apologies to William Blake, “What’er is done to me I cannot know, And if you’ll ask me I will swear it so. Whether ’tis good or evil none’s to blame: Only God can take the pride, only God the shame.” “And I am sure that He who began a good work in me will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” . When the image of the unbegotten is formed in me, then He who was so long tightly furled within me, unwinds Himself, and I am He.684 ¶8

“No one has ascended into Heaven but He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man” . God Himself voluntarily descended into His grave, Golgotha, my skull. “I lay down My life, that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord” . “For your maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His Name” . And, “He cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh” . For, “He who is united to the Lord becomes one Spirit with Him” . “What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder” . Man is God’s emanation, yet his wife till the sleep of death is past. “Rouse thyself! Why sleepest thou, Lord? Awake!” . When He awakes, “I am He.” God laid Himself down within me to sleep, and as He slept He dreamed a dream; He dreamed that He is I and when He awakes I am He. But how do I know that I am He? Through the revelation of His Son David who in the Spirit calls me Father.684 ¶9

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me… He who has seen Me has seen the Father” . Union with the risen Christ is the only way to the Father. Because, “Christ and the Father are one” . The way leads through death to life eternal. Man’s search for Christ as the authority which he can trust, which he can respect, to which he can submit is his longing for the Father That lives in him, for That same Father Whom the Christ of the Gospel claims to be. The Christ of the Gospel is the Eternal Father in man. This longing for the Father is the cry of man that ends the New Testament. “Come, Lord Jesus!” .684 ¶10

“Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” . “And in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily?” , not figuratively, but genuinely in a body. This is “the mystery hidden for ages and generations which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” . Imperfect knowledge of Jesus has blinded man to the true nature of the Father. The Lord Jesus is God the Father Who became man that man might become the Lord Jesus, the Father. Historian’s researches cannot yield knowledge of who the Father is. “No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit” . Man’s goal is to find the Father, but God the Father is made known only through His Son. “No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him” . Only the Father and the Son know each other.684 ¶11

“Call no man your Father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in Heaven” and Heaven is “within you” . And David said: “I will tell of the decree of the Lord; He said to me, ‘You are My son, today I have begotten you’” . David’s divine sonship is unique, the only one of its kind and wholly supernatural. He was “born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” . The Father will be found by man only in a first person singular, present tense experience when David in the Spirit calls him Father, that is, my Lord. Jesus asked them a question, saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to him, “The son of David.” He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls Him Lord… If David thus calls Him Lord, how is He his Son?” .684 ¶12

In Hebrew thought, history consists of all the generations of men and their experiences fused into one great whole and this concentrated time, into which all the generations are fused, and from which they spring, is called “Eternity.” Scripture states that: “God has put eternity into man’s mind, yet so that man cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end” . The Hebrew word for “eternity” means also “youth, stripling, young man.” Saul saw David and said to Abner, “Whose son is this youth… Inquire Whose son the stripling is?” Then turning to David he said: “Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethemite” . Whose son…? Note in all the passages, the inquiry is not about the son, but about his Father. The Father made known by David is the eternally true Father. It is in us as persons that God the Father is revealed.684 ¶13

David said “I am the son of Jesse.” Jesse is any form of the verb to be. David’s answer was “I am the son of Him Whose Name is ‘I AM.’ I am the son of the Lord.” One of the names for God is the name He gave to Moses. “Say to the people of Israel ‘I AM has sent me to you’” . He is the Eternal “I AM.” God’s first revelation of Himself is as “God Almighty” . His second self-revelation is as “The Eternal I AM” . His final revelation of Himself is as “the Father” . Only the Son can reveal God as Father. “No one (i.e. no human eye) has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known” .684 ¶14

It is God Himself, the Eternal I AM, and His only begotten Son, the eternal youth David, who entered man’s mind. At the end of his journey through the fires of affliction in this Age of Eternal death, man will find David and exclaim “I have found David… He shall cry to Me, Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation” . I do not reveal myself to myself directly as God or as Jesus Christ, but by implication parallel with Scripture, when David in the Spirit calls me Father. And this wisdom from within is without uncertainty. “When it pleased God to reveal His Son in me, I did not confer with flesh and blood” . The man in whom the Son of God appears finds it difficult to convince others of the reality of the revelation, because these supernatural experiences of Scripture take place in a realm of action too remote from our common experience. The whole drama belongs to a world far more real and vital than that which the intellect inhabits for the historic imagination to understand it.684 ¶15

“Oh could I tell ye surely would believe it! Oh could I only say what I have seen! How should I tell or how can ye receive it, How, till he bringeth you where I have been?” This entrance into the Father-Son relationship is truly by the Grace of God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son” . It was the eternal plan of God to give Himself to man. And it is the Son, calling Him Father, who makes Him sure that He really is the Father. When David in the Spirit calls him Father, he does not lose his distinctive individuality or cease to be the self he was before, but that self now includes a far greater self, which is none other than Jesus Christ whom David in the Spirit called “Lord.” Man is heir to a Promise and to a Presence! “Abraham having patiently endured, obtained the promise” . Grace is the final expression of God’s love in action which man will experience when the Son is revealed in him, and who in turn reveals man as the Father. The authority which underlies the story of Jesus Christ is a two-fold witness; the inward testimony of the Father, and the external testimony of Scripture.684 ¶16

God Himself came, and comes, into human history in the person of the incarnate Jesus within us. This will be confirmed by the “signs,” which will be experienced by man as foretold in Scripture. “The Father Who dwells in Me does His works. Believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me; or else believe for the sake of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, who believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father” . “I came from the Father and have come into world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father” . “I and the Father are one” . The Vision of God is granted to those who have had the revelation of the Father in the life of the incarnate Jesus in them, when the only begotten Son David calls them Father. Only as the “signs” become our experience is God’s purpose – and therefore the Scripture’s purpose – fulfilled in us. “Scripture must be fulfilled in Me… for what is written about Me has its fulfillment” . God gave Himself to all of us, to each of us. And it is His only begotten Son David, in the Spirit, calling us Father, who makes us sure that it is really so. “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed” .684 ¶17

“And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine… with the head of the Philistine in his hand, Saul said to him, ‘Whose son are you, young man?’” for he did not know David’s father, whom he had promised to make free in Israel. The king had promised to make free the father of the man who destroyed the enemy of Israel. We must not ignore the very personal and supernatural character of God’s plan of salvation. The fulfillment of the plan takes place in man; it is inaugurated by the event called “His resurrection from the dead” . “We have been born anew… through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” . It is Christ in you —your I AM who is resurrected. The resurrection marks the beginning of the freeing of Jesus Christ the Father from the body of sin and death, and His return to His divine body of Love, the human form divine. This was the Lord’s purpose from the beginning “which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time” . “The Lord of hosts has sworn: As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand” . Live and act on the assurance that God has brought His plan to fulfillment and continues to do so. God Himself came, and comes, into human history in the person of Jesus Christ in you, in me, in all. God awoke in the anonymous authors of the gospels, and continues to awake in individual man. Believe their testimony; do not seek new ways of access to a goal already attained.684 ¶18

Perhaps the best description of the unknown writers of the gospel of God is given in the words: “That which… we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life… That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you” . Faith is not complete till it has become experience. It is essential that those whose eyes have seen and whose hands have handled the Word of life, be sent and be conscious of themselves as sent, to declare it to the world.684 ¶19

It is the resurrected Christ, the twice-born man, who says: “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me… and you will find rest for your souls” . He offers His knowledge of Scripture based on His own experience, for that of others based on speculation. Accept His offer. And it will keep you from losing your way among the tangled speculations that pass for religious truth and show you the only way to the Father.684 ¶20

The man who is sent to preach the gospel of God is first called, and taken in Spirit into the divine assembly where the gods hold judgment. “God has taken His place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods He holds judgment” . The Hebrew word Elokim is plural, a compound unity, one made up of others. In this sentence it is translated as God and gods. The man who is called is brought before the Elokim, the risen Christ. He is asked to name the greatest thing in the world; he answers in the words of Paul, “faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” . At that moment, God embraces him, and they fuse and become One. For “he who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” . “So they are no longer two, but one. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder” . Men are called one by one to unite into a single Man, who is God. “The Lord will thresh out the grain, and you will be gathered one by one, O people of Israel” . This union with the risen Christ is baptism with the Holy Spirit.684 ¶21

From his baptism with the Holy Spirit to his resurrection, fall the “days of the Messiah” , a period of thirty years. During this period, he is so overwhelmingly in love with his mission, as messenger and preacher of the Gospel of God, a gospel which has laid such constraint upon him that he can do no other, feels that “if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” . A divine compulsion drives him as it had Jeremiah, who said, “If I say, ‘I will not mention Him, or speak any more in His name,’ there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot’” . The end of this thirty year period arrives with such dramatic suddenness that he has no time to observe its coming. “Jesus, when He began His ministry, was about thirty years of age” . Now the story of Jesus Christ unfolds in him in a series of the most personal, first person singular, present tense experiences. The entire series of events takes three and a half years.684 ¶22

It begins with his resurrection and birth from above. “The dead heard the voice of the child And began to awake from sleep: All things heard the voice of the child And began to awake to life.” — William Blake While sleeping on his bed and dreaming of the redeemed society of a city “full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof”, an intense vibration centered at the base of his skull awakens him, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light”. As he wakes, he finds that he is not in the room where he fell asleep, but in his own skull (Golgotha). His skull is a completely sealed tomb. He does not know how he got there, but his one consuming desire is to get out. He pushes the base of his skull, and something rolls away leaving a small opening. He pushes his head through the opening and squeezes himself out inch by inch in the same manner that a child is born from his mother’s womb. He looks at his body out of which he has just emerged. It is pale of face lying on its back and tossing its head from side to side like one in recovery from a great ordeal. “You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. When a woman is in travail she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child is born into the world”. “For there the Babe is born in joy That was begotten in dire woe; Just as we Reap in joy the fruit Which we in bitter tears did sow.” — William Blake “You must be born from above”. “The Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother”. The skull that was his tomb became the womb from which he is born anew.684 ¶23

The vibration within his skull which roused him from sleep, appears now to be coming from without. It sounds like a great wind. He turns his head in the direction where the wind appears to be. Looking back to where his body was, he is surprised to find that it is gone but in its place sit three men. This experience that faces him will be the fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham. “And the Lord appeared to him… He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men stood in front of him… They said to him, ‘Where is Sarah, your wife?’ And he said, ‘She is in the tent.’ He said, ‘I will surely return to you according to the time of life; and Sarah your wife shall have a son’… Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him… Isaac” (“he laughs”),.684 ¶24

The three men suddenly appeared. They had not been seen approaching. Abraham does not at once realize the significance of this. They are ordinary men who have chanced to come his way. They too are disturbed by the wind. The youngest of the three is the most disturbed and goes over to investigate the source of the disturbance. His attention is attracted by a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths lying on the floor. He takes the babe in his arms and proclaiming it to be the resurrected man’s babe, lays it on the bed. The man then lifts the babe in his arms and says: “How is my sweetheart?” The child smiles and the first act comes to an end.684 ¶25

“And in that region there were shepherds out in the field… And an angel of the Lord appeared to them… And the angel said to them, ‘Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger’”.684 ¶26

God is born, for God is called Savior. After the revelation, man searches the ancient scriptures for intimations and foreshadowings of his supernatural experience, and finding them there, knows that: “All was foretold me: naught Could I foresee: But I learned how the wind would sound After these things should be.” – Edward Thomas. The unpredictable nature of the wind’s course illustrates the spontaneity of the divine birth all the more easily since both in Greek and in Hebrew the word is used both for wind and spirit. The plan of the Lord is described in the ancient scripture, but it cannot really be known until after it has been experienced by the individual. God has spoken, and what He has foretold is written there for all to understand. But His prophecy appears in a quite different light in prospect from what it is seen to be in retrospect. Everyone will know that Jesus Christ is the Father in the light of his own experience of the Christian Mystery. “In these last days He has spoken to us by His Son”.684 ¶27

Five months after man is resurrected and born from above, a vibration similar to that which began the first act starts in his head. This time it is centered at the top of his head. It increases in intensity until it explodes. After the explosion he finds himself seated in a modestly furnished room. Leaning against the side of an open door, and looking out on a pastoral scene, is his son David of Biblical fame. He is a youth in his early teens. David addresses him as “My Father.” The resurrected man knows that he is David’s Father, and David knows that he is his Son. Two men look at David lustfully and the Father reminds them of his Son’s victory over the giant Philistine. And while he is sitting there and contemplating the unearthly beauty of his Son, the second act comes to its end.684 ¶28

God the Father gave Himself to man that man might become God the Father. “I will tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You’”.684 ¶29

The third act unfolds four months after the Father-Son relationship has been revealed. It is dramatic from beginning to end. A bolt of lightning splits the body of the resurrected man from the top of his skull to the base of his spine. Now the new and living way is opened for him through the curtain, that is, through his body. Revelation is always in personal terms, and the human agents of God’s revelation are never suppressed to the level of the impersonal. “Consequently, when He came into the world, He said, ‘Sacrifices and offerings Thou has not desired, but a body hast Thou prepared for Me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings Thou hast taken no pleasure.’ Then I said, ‘Lo, I have come to do Thy will, O God, as it is written of Me in the roll of the book.’”.684 ¶30

God’s will is done. God must save and God alone. At the base of his spine, he sees a pool of golden liquid light and knows that it is himself. He now has “confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way which He opened for us through the curtain, that is, through His flesh”. As he contemplates the pool of golden liquid light, the blood of God, the living water, he fuses with it, and knows that it is himself, his divine Creator and Redeemer.684 ¶31

Now like a bolt of spiral lightning, he ascends his spine entering the heavenly sanctuary of his skull violently. His head reverberates like thunder. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up”. “From the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven has been coming violently, and men of violence take it by force”.684 ¶32

To such men the new age has come.684 ¶33

Two years and nine months later, fulfilling the three and a half years of the ministry of Jesus, the fourth and final act of the drama of salvation comes to its climax. “And the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, ‘Thou art My beloved Son; with Thee I am well pleased.’”. The head of the resurrected one suddenly becomes translucent. Hovering above him, as though floating, a dove with its eyes focused lovingly upon him, descends upon his outstretched hand. He draws her to his face, and the dove smothers him with love, kissing his face, his head and his neck. A woman, daughter of the voice of God says to him: “He loves you,” and the drama of salvation comes to its end in him.684 ¶34

He is now a son of God, a son of the resurrection. He “cannot die any more, because He is a Son of God, being a Son of Resurrection”. “I and the Father are one”. “I am the root and the offspring of David”. He is the Father of humanity and its offspring. By becoming man, the limit of contraction and opacity, he breaks the shell, and expanding into translucence achieves his purpose. He has found “Him of Whom Moses in the law and the prophets wrote”. The anonymous authors of the gospel of God are twice-born men, sons of God, sons of the Resurrection, who can die no more, having escaped from the body of sin and death. The gospel is the story of God’s plan of salvation.684 ¶35

It will be helpful to all readers of the Word of God, to end this confession of faith with a quote from William Blake. “It ought to be understood that the Persons, Moses and Abraham, are not here meant, but the States Signified by those Names, the Individuals being representatives or Visions of those States as they were reveal’d to Mortal Man in the Series of Divine Revelations as they are written in the Bible: these various States I have seen in my Imagination; when distant they appear as One Man, but as you approach they appear Multitudes of Nations.”684 ¶36

There is no secular history in the Bible. The Bible is the history of salvation and is wholly supernatural.684 ¶37

Consummation

No one knows how many civilizations must rise and fall before the end of the historic process on earth. But I can assure you that when it does come to its end, the consummation will be Jesus Christ, the pattern man. But no one knows how many convulsions will take place in this world before that end, but it will all be consummated in Jesus Christ, the pattern man. Now, tonight, I want to share with you what I have experienced. I want to share with you what I’ve been sent to tell you, and tell you I must and will. When we are taught in Scripture that he who now is called Jesus Christ is here only for one purpose, and that is to fulfill the Scripture. Not to change governments, not to get involved. He leaves everything as he finds it. He’s only telling of a pattern, a pattern that must be fulfilled in the individual to bring this historic process to an end within him. The Scripture must be fulfilled in me.677 ¶1

Now, the only Scripture spoken of is the Old Testament. The New was not written. So, he’s only speaking of the Old. Now we go back to the Old. And here you read, “All the people of Israel came to David, and they said to him we are your bones and your flesh. And the Lord said to you, you will be”—bear the tense—“you will be the shepherd over my people, Israel. I have made a covenant with you that is everlasting, but you will be the shepherd over my people Israel, and you will be their prince forever.” You’ll read that in the second Samuel fifth chapter. It’s also repeated in the book of Kings and also Chronicles. But the second chapter, the fifth and the second book of Samuel, the fifth chapter will give it to you.677 ¶2

Now comes the thought of David as he’s leaving the world. And these are the last words of David: “And the spirit of the Lord speaks by me and his word is upon my tongue.” Now, here is David speaking. “His word is upon my tongue. He speaks by me.” Now we turn to the New Testament, which is the interpretation of the Old. He is not called David. He is called in the New Testament, the Christ. And in the New Testament, in the 14th chapter of John, he makes the statement, “The words that you hear are not mine, but the Father who sent me and the Father is the spirit”—the identical thought is conveyed in that statement.677 ¶3

Prior to this claim that he makes, he said, “The day is coming, it hasn’t yet come. The day is coming when you will know that I am in the Father and the Father in me and that I am in you.” That day is coming. Then he goes on to say, “I will manifest myself to you.” Then Judas—not Iscariot, but a Judas; he doesn’t say who Judas is—“and he said to him, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world?” And he replied, “He who keeps my commandments, my Father loves and I love, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who has my commandments and keeps them.” Well, what are his commandments? Remember he cannot say anything that is not in the Old Testament. He’s only come to fulfill God’s word, which is in the Old Testament. He reduces 613 commandments to two; for the rabbis have taken the Old Testament and they’ve discovered 613 commandments; 365 are negative; 248 are positive; 613.677 ¶4

He reduces them to two, which you will find in Deuteronomy, the 6th chapter, and you’ll find in Leviticus in the 19th chapter, and this is what he said to the one who said to him concerning the commandments. They asked him, “What is the greatest commandment?” He said, “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” That’s the greatest. And one that is equal to it is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”677 ¶5

Now, the Christian believes that’s an original one in the New Testament. It’s taken from Leviticus, the 19th chapter, the 18th verse. For he’s only going to fulfill Scripture. So, he takes 613 commandments and reduces them to two. If you hear these two and abide by them, I will manifest myself to you. And my Father and I will love you and we will come and make our home with you.677 ¶6

But what is the first one? There’s only one causation. I kill. I make alive. I wound. I heal. I create the light. I form the darkness. I make the wheel. I form the world. And there is no other God beside me. Never forget it. There’s only one creative power. And I’ll tell you who he is, your own wonderful human imagination. God became as we are that we may be as he is. He allows us all the liberty in the world to create high or low, darkness or light, to murder or to give life. It’s the same power. There aren’t two creative powers in the world. That’s the first commandment.677 ¶7

And the second is equal to the first: “Love your neighbor as yourself,” because your neighbor is yourself pushed out. There is nothing in this world but God, and God is your own wonderful human imagination. And everything in this world is God pushed out, bearing witness to an activity that is taking place within us of which we may be totally unaware; but it bears witness to what is taking place within us. So said he, “I will come and manifest myself to those who abide by my commandments.” And he reduces the commandments to two.677 ¶8

Do you really believe in that first confession of faith, it’s called the Sh’ma. Israel’s confession of faith. “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” There is no room for a devil. There’s no room for a Satan. There is no room for any power in this world outside of God. All these are negations for the 365 commandments that are negative; 248 positive; all reduced to two. And the two are so simply stated to “Hear O Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is one.” And: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Regardless of the pigment of his skin, regardless of his tongue, regardless of his background, he is yourself pushed out. So, whatever you are doing to him, you are only doing to self. The whole vast world is the individual pushed out to bear witness to the activity taking place within him.677 ¶9

Now listen to these words carefully. This is now from Peter’s First Epistle, his fifth chapter: “And when the chief shepherd is manifested, you will obtain the unfading glory of the crown.” You will actually obtain this unfading crown. And it’s a crown of glory and in the Scripture, glory is identified with God. You become God when the chief shepherd is manifested. In the Old Testament, the only shepherd spoken of is David. That is David. When he makes himself manifest to you, he reveals you as God, the Father. But God became you that you may become God. But you will not know, not in eternity, that you are God until that chief shepherd is manifested to you, who reveals you as his Father and his Father is God and he is the son.677 ¶10

So, I am telling you what I know from experience. It is not written in any book that I’ve ever read. It is not recorded in any place where I have ever encountered it. I’ve never heard it from another man. But I have been sent to tell you what I have experienced. When the risen Lord embraced me and sent me, and the words were “down with the blue bloods,” meaning protocols, church protocols, all these extraneous things that keep from man the truth that God will reveal to man, all ceremonies, all rituals, all these things that hide the truth from man. And then it was revealed within me through actual experience. And I cannot restrain my words, I must tell it to you. Should I go tonight? At least you have a record right now, knowing he’s here, a movie, and you have a record of what I actually have experienced.677 ¶11

He could only fulfill Scripture. And Scripture is the Old Testament. So, every word spoken of him that is real, go back. So, something new came when he said, “I give you a commandment, love your neighbor as yourself.” Go back into the 19th chapter of the book of Leviticus, the 18th verse. “Love your neighbor as yourself,” that’s the command. Go back to the sixth chapter of Deuteronomy, named the greatest of all the commandments. And he names that sixth chapter, the fourth and fifth verses, “Hear O Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is one. By him, all things are made and without him was not anything made that was made.” There is nothing but the one creator good, bad, or indifferent.677 ¶12

So here he sends himself into the world awakening man. And I cannot tell you how many civilizations must rise and fall. We think that we are permanent forever. England thought that. Russia thinks that. Greece thought it. Rome thought it. Egypt thought it. The ancient world thought it. And they have come and gone. And they will rise and fall. But in the end, the consummation of it all, will be Jesus Christ.677 ¶13

Jesus being your own wonderful I am—that’s the Lord. No one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit, which is remembrance. And you can’t remember that you are until the son reveals you as the being that you really are. So, Christ must come and Christ is the anointed one. So, rise and anoint him. Anoint whom? David. This is my chosen one. So, rise and anoint him. I have chosen him. So, Christ is the Son and Jesus is the Lord, I am. So, they will come and make their home with you.677 ¶14

If you have heard and accept the two commandments, those who have heard my commandments and abide by them, then I will manifest myself to him. This is now the son speaking. So, he speaks, although under the name in Scripture, as Jesus Christ. Learn to discriminate, if the Son is speaking or the Father is speaking in that capacity, when he said my Father, then he’s speaking as son. And so, the son is saying, I will manifest myself to you. When the Son manifests himself to you, he reveals you as his Father for no one knows who the Son is except the Father. And no one knows who the Father is, except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. He will choose to reveal himself to you when you accept and abide by the commandments—and there are only two. That there’s only one creative power in the world, your own wonderful human imagination, and that is God. There is no other God. And the next commandment is, love your neighbor as yourself.677 ¶15

If any friend of mine tonight was accused of any crime in this world and they asked me, “What should I do? What is your opinion?” I would say, “Forgive him.” If my daughter, my wife, the dearest of my heart, had committed the most horrible crime in the world and I was called as a witness and the judge asked me, “What would you do?” What would I do? I would forgive her. I wouldn’t care what anyone I love did; I want them forgiven. That’s what he’s saying. Love your neighbor as yourself. Am I going to stand in judgment and pass judgment? She is deserving of death. She’s deserving of this, that, and the other. No, not as I understand Scripture, not as I understand the unity of being. I want to forgive every aspect to my own being for, in my own being, I caused it. I could not become aware of it were it not within me that it happened. It happened in me. Now I witness it and it bears witness to what I did within myself. The whole vast world is myself pushed out.677 ¶16

When I told this story years ago concerning my first wife, I was violently criticized. I only told it to explain a certain principle, but they didn’t understand what I’m trying to say. And she criticized me, well, verbally in the most marvelous way, as she conceded, but it’s perfectly all right, that was her right, it’s myself pushed out anyway. But here was one, and I pleaded with the judge to forgive her; a simple little thing that she did, but it meant six months in jail. And I pleaded with that judge to please forgive her. You do not know the emotional strain under which she’s been going, and she is eight years my senior, and therefore she must now be forty-five or forty-six, and going through the normal change of life that happens to women. Maybe it happens to men too, but it’s an obvious happening in woman. Take that into consideration and forgive her. If you must sentence her, do it but then suspend it. He abided by my request.677 ¶17

And she met me on the outside and said, “That’s a very decent thing of you to do, Neville; give me the papers for my divorce.” Well, I didn’t have any papers with me. So, I took her home to my place and I gave her the papers, a thing I’m told legally I’m not supposed to do. But I nevertheless gave them to her and I got my divorce in New York City. She only responded to my dear and deep need: I wanted a divorce. So, she was forced to do what she did based upon what I was doing within myself. I was sleeping in the assumption that I was blissfully happy and married to the girl to whom I am now married.677 ¶18

And it’s a heaven in this world with me, no matter what at the moment is happening to her, it still is a blissful state with me, blessed with the most glorious daughter. And she did what she had to do that I may get my freedom, for in those days the archaic law rested over New York City and you couldn’t get a divorce by saying we are incompatible. You had to bring all kinds of the stupid lies of the world to do it. So, we didn’t have to bring any, I simply got my divorce.677 ¶19

So, I’m saying that the whole vast world is bearing witness to what you are doing within yourself in your own wonderful human imagination, for that’s God. There is no other God. God became as I am— that’s his name—that I may be as he is. And he is God the Father, he is God the creator. There’s nothing but God.677 ¶20

So, I tell you this story is the truest story in the world. And how many countries must rise and fall, civilizations must come and go, I do not know. But I do know that whenever it is consummated, it’s going to be consummated in Jesus Christ, the pattern man. That pattern must unfold itself in every child born of woman. And it will, it cannot fail. As it unfolds the day will come that you will accept these two commandments that there’s only one causation in the world. He didn’t cause it, she didn’t cause it, they didn’t cause it. I am causing it. That’s the only cause in the world. Are you big enough to accept that responsibility that no one in the world has caused anything that ever hurt you or praised you? You’re doing it all within yourself and they only bear witness of what you are doing and have done. That’s the first and greatest commandment.677 ¶21

And the second is now, because of that, love your neighbors as yourself, for they only aid what you are doing within you. And if one has to go to jail to fulfill what you’ve done within you, love him, he’s paying a price that you yourself have placed upon him. The whole vast world is the individual pushed out. It’s an egocentric world for there is only God, and God is one. So, this is the story that I want to share with you.677 ¶22

So, I’ve come into the world, said he, to bear witness to the truth. And the truth is your word. And your word can only be found in the day when these words were written in the Old Testament, and thy word cannot be broken. Now he goes and he finds out who is the chosen one to express the will of the Father and he finds it is David. And the whole of Israel came to David. And they said to David, we are your bones and your flesh. And the Lord said to you, you will be the shepherd of my people, Israel. And you will be the prince of Israel. That future, and even in the New Testament it is still the future because it’s going to happen to the individual. It is not something that happens once and forever. It is taking place in the world.677 ¶23

So, when you go home, read that second Samuel, the 5th chapter, then read the 23rd chapter of second Samuel, and then find who that real shepherd is. Read Peter’s first letter, the 5th chapter. You’ll find it in the 4th verse. You don’t have to go too far, the 5th chapter, the 4th verse. And he tells you when the chief shepherd comes and when the chief shepherd is manifested, you will obtain the unfading crown of glory. That is God himself. The minute he is manifested, you see him, the chief shepherd, and he’s David and David reveals you as his Father and the Father of David is God. That’s the story.677 ¶24

So, I tell everyone here, yes, you can have all the things in this world that you want, but everything. I don’t care what it is. In the world of Caesar, it’s simple, it’s very easy. But let me share with you a little thing that happened to me today that I may remove from you a certain fear. A friend of mine came back just before I took the platform and allowed me to read a certain little letter, which I will not quote, but it’s for his benefit too, to show you how in the world of Caesar they tried to scare you to death.677 ¶25

I brought my wife home today from St. Vincent hospital. So, I went downstairs to the cashier to pay my bill. And she said to me, as she looked at it, she said, “I think that you will owe thirty dollars.” And then I didn’t say anything. She said, “Oh no, your deposit, when you came in, exceeds the thirty dollars because my wife is now sixty-five. So, she’s on Medicare. And we also have Blue Cross. So Blue Cross and Medicare are supposed to pick up something like 80 percent of expenses.” So, she said, “No, you do not owe us anything. In fact, we owe you.” I didn’t ask her for any refund because we’d be going back for another six visits.677 ¶26

I came home to find in my letterbox a bill from St. Vincent posted only yesterday. Today, they tell me that I owe nothing, that they in fact owe me. And as I opened the letter, that is, that little bill, that I owe them $5,403.63 cents. Well, that amused me, the sixty-three cents. So, I got on the telephone right away and I called the credit department and I asked to please give me the head man, whoever he is. I identified myself. I said, “I’ve just brought my wife home and you told me only two hours ago that I owe you nothing. In fact, you owe me something, which I did not collect. And now you tell me that I owe you $5,403.63 cents.” “Oh, wait a second.” Then they go back. “And would you hold a while?” I said, “I will, willingly.” So, they came back and they said that was a computer’s mistake. So, the computer went to town, all kinds of things over the years, the year and a half that I’ve been there, undoubtedly, I have paid them that much. And so, they are going to give it to me again because I’ve already paid out to the two hospitals over $14,000 before she became Medicare.677 ¶27

Now that she’s on Medicare, and these are billed in the month of March when she’s already on Medicare in the month of February. So, I said, “You know, my wife has Blue Cross plus Medicare, and I can’t conceive that ten days, only ten days in the hospital, that I could owe you $5,403.63 cents.” So, she confessed. Then she said to me, “Don’t worry, Mr. Goddard.” I said, “May I tell you something? I do not worry. I won’t tear it up. I’m going to frame it just like a little laugh. I’m not going to tear it up. I’ll take this little bill and frame it just for fun.”677 ¶28

So may I say to my friend who came back tonight, don’t let anyone tell you for one moment he can cut your ears off or any way incarcerate you. Forget it. You have caused everything that has happened to you. That little silly thing that came amused me. So that was my little amusement for the day. I brought her home and she came home and she’s lovely, altogether sweet, didn’t lose any weight, and she’s strong. She has to go back for the normal things that must be done to her, but that came as an amusement because we both got a good hearty laugh out of it. And so, I will say to my friend, go down on the day that you are told to come down, but go with a laugh in your heart. They can’t do a thing to you because you caused it all and you can change it all.677 ¶29

There’s only one God in the world, only one creative power in the world, and that power is your own wonderful human imagination. Let them go all over the world looking for another cause and they aren’t going to find it. They will only find one cause, and that cause is resident in everyone in the world, his own imagination. It’s entirely up to us.677 ¶30

If tonight you are fired, may I tell you, it could be a blessing because you dreamt bigger dreams than the present job could ever give you. So, if you are fired, in my own case, when I was fired from JC Penny, twenty-two dollars a week I was making, and they fired me. I asked, “Why? What have I done that is wrong?” They said, “Nothing, but we have a certain system here and when things decline in business, we let people out. And so, after a year-and-a-half in service, you have to go.” I said, “What will I use for money to pay for my rent? I was paying five dollars a week for my room.” “That’s not our concern.” Well, he realized I was completely green, so he gave me a little letter to Macy’s, a friend of his who employed people. So, Macy’s employed me at four dollars less. They gave me eighteen dollars a week.677 ¶31

So, then I determined I will not work for anyone but Neville in this world. “I’m going to work here just long enough and then quit.” So, I worked there for a year, and one day I said, “You aren’t going to fire me; I’m quitting.” Worked that year. I’m still making eighteen dollars a week. So, then I quit and many a day I starved. Many a day I went hungry. I didn’t have the money. Didn’t have any food. But I wasn’t going to work for anyone else in this world. I worked only for Neville. And then came my visions. And from then on, the Father gave me an outside source of income. And that was my story. So, I tell it and share it with you.677 ¶32

You don’t have to be afraid of anyone in this world if you know this principle. And take every one of this world as yourself pushed out. So, when I was fired from JC Penney, they were my friend, but I didn’t know it. Everyone who tried to put me down, they were my friend. When I went to a little school and they said, “You’ll never make a living using your voice.” I resented that, but she was my friend because she fired me. She fired me to disprove her. If she hadn’t said that, I would have gone blindly on and not have done it. But she struck something in me that simply rose the fire in me.677 ¶33

So, if someone can strike you to rise the fire in you, it’s yourself because of your own activity. Within your own mind, you are dreaming noble dreams, all greater than your present job allows. And tomorrow you are fired. All right, it’s a turning point in your good fortune, may I tell you, I know that from my own family’s history. When we were completely down to the ground with no food or anything, there was a turning point in our family’s fortunes.677 ¶34

So, from nothing, with all these children, the family rose and today, well, you couldn’t buy them out. If anybody wants to come today and buy them out, don’t come under $50 million because you couldn’t even interest them under $50 million. And we were fired out in 1922 with nothing; ’22, we just celebrated our fiftieth anniversary, and from nothing. And you couldn’t interest us unless you brought $50 million if you want to buy us out. And that’s because they did not accept it as final, it was a challenge.677 ¶35

If you’re going to take a blow and go down with it, all well and good, not knowing the whole vast world is yourself pushed out. But I am telling you the whole vast world is yourself pushed out. And everyone is only bearing witness to the man or the woman that you are. And you are your own wonderful human imagination, and morning, noon, and night, you are active imagining. And the whole thing is taking place in your outer world. And they’re telling you who you are.677 ¶36

So read it carefully. I have quoted tonight from just a few passages. Fourteenth chapter of John. It’s a glorious book, John. But I took the 14th chapter. And then I took the fifth chapter of Second Samuel. I took the 23rd chapter of Second Samuel. And I took the 5th chapter of the First Letter of Peter. These are all that I have taken to weave together this thought that David is the son of God. And by David, I mean, he is the resultant state. God is the only reality, but in the end, he’s going to manifest himself because he dwells in you. And may I tell you what’s going to happen. There’s going to be an explosion within your brain; as it were, you’ll feel the whole head explode. And when the explosion is over and it all settles, he who was within you, listen to the words: “The day will come that you will know that I am in my Father.”677 ¶37

And when the Father explodes, he releases his son. He promised he would, and the son comes up and calls him Father. And the Father knows exactly who he is, but he also tells you—and you are in me. So, the whole vast world is himself pushed out. But the son is in the Father and the son is David. He is the great shepherd. So, when the chief shepherd is manifested, then you will obtain the unfading crown of glory.677 ¶38

Now, let us go into the silence. Good. Are there any questions, please?677 ¶39

I think you know that I am not closing tonight. I have asked for an extension of the month of May based on the needs of my wife. So, I will be here every Monday and Friday through the month of May. Same place, same time. Are there any questions, please?677 ¶40

We are sound asleep on all. We awaken. This is the most important level. This is the limit of contraction, the limit of opacity. And you break it from here. This is so important to become flesh and blood here. So, when they give me all these stories of abortions and these things, I don’t go for it. It’s not really a problem of people. It’s an economic problem and I am not an economist. We can produce so much food and so much wear and so many materials for building homes and so much of everything that it would frighten the mind, but how to distribute it under the present economic system? So, it is not a matter of explosion of population. It’s simply an economic problem. And I am not an economist. I do not know under what systems such distribution of our abilities could be distributed. But I am told why, well, he was a grand, grand gentleman, I heard him speak in New York City—and that was George Washington Carver, who gave us the peanut butter and he gave us something like 600 byproducts of the Southern pine and the Southern peanut because they were going to see, not knowing what to do with it, the groundnuts. And he asked God, “Why did you make a peanut?” And he said God said to him, “Go into your laboratory and I will show you why I made a peanut.” And so, he went into his laboratory and meditated, and then he experimented, and God showed him why he made a peanut. In one little peanut he brought out something like 300 byproducts. So, we have peanut butter, peanutoil, all kinds of things. And he stood before this wonderful group of men at the Waldorf Astoria, just about the year before he died, and he said, “The very tie that I wear came out of the Southern pine, everything I’m wearing now, and the pigments on my tie, all this came out of the Southern pine.” Hundreds of byproducts. And then he said, “We could, from the Southern states”—he meant the Mason Dixon line; that’s what he meant by the Southern states—he said, “we from the Southern states could feed, clothe, and house the entire world, not America, but the whole vast world from the byproducts.” Therefore, it is an economic problem. It is not a matter of children coming into this world. So, I have no answers for that. I can only tell you that I heard that great gentleman say that. I heard him on the radio. I was not physically present at the banquet. You had to be invited. And only those who were prominent were invited. So, I knew it was on and it would be on the radio. So, I tuned him in for the entire banquet and heard it at the Waldorf Astoria. In those days, we had no TV, it was simply radio and I heard that grand wonderful man say what I’ve just told you.677 ¶42

Where and When Did It Happen

Others spent some time in church today, listening to one or maybe all seven words of the cross. And I wonder what the attended really understood—the great mystery. For we are told when they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him. When they came to the place called the Skull. Where is it and what time? We cannot fix the cross in time or locate it in space. And it’s a very great mistake in interpretation to ignore the out-and-out character of the supernatural nature of the crucifixion. In fact, all the great events in the life of Jesus Christ.676 ¶1

Let me share with you my own personal experience to show you cannot locate it in space and you cannot fix it in time. Remember, he’s only fulfilling Scripture and the Scripture is the Old Testament. We turn now to a Psalm—the 42nd Psalm that was written hundreds of years before. If you didn’t hear each of the [...], you can’t date it. It begins, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, oh God.” My soul seeks and thirsts for God, for the living God. Now, he said, these things I remember, when I went to the throng and led them in procession to the house of God, a multitude being tested by God.676 ¶2

And let me share with you my own experience of that Psalm and you try to fix it in time or locate it in space. This night in question, I was leading an enormous crowd, a gay crowd, a very festive crowd, a huge multitude, and leading them to the house of God. And as we walked in this gay manner, a voice rang out from outer space. And the voice said, “And God walks with you.” A woman at my side, to my right, she questioned the voice. And she said, “If God walks with us, where is he?” And the voice replied, “At your side.” She looked to her left and looked into my face, and she became hysterical. She thought it was so funny. So again, she addressed the voice and she said to me, “Neville is God.” And the voice answered, “Yes, in the act of waking.” Then the voice spoke in the depth of my own self and no one heard it but the speaker. And the voice said to me, “I laid myself down within you to sleep. And as I slept, I dreamed a dream. I dreamed …”—and I knew exactly what the end of that sentence would be. He is dreaming that he is I. But I became so emotionally moved by the voice speaking in the depth of my own being that I began to return to this level. As I returned, my hand, my head, the right side, and the soles of my two feet were nailed by a vortex. It was a vortex, a vortex, a vortex, a vortex, and each foot a vortex. Now, when did it happen?676 ¶3

The test is passed. I laid myself down within you to sleep. And, as I said, “I dreamed a dream.” Now it begins, these things I remember. If I remember, then it is passed. As Paul states, “I have been crucified with Christ.” Nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ who lives in me and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Then he stated, “From now on, I recognize no one from a human point of view. Even though I once recognized Christ from a human point of view, I recognize him thus no longer.” Paul, far from the dying side, no one more supported his vision than Paul. But Paul knew the whole thing was supernatural. When it pleased God to reveal his Son in me, I conferred not with flesh and blood. The drama is a supernatural drama taking place in the soul of man.676 ¶4

In the beginning of time, the crucifixion took place. That’s when God became as we are that we may be as he is. God became man that man may become God. And that was in the very beginning of God. That was the crucifixion. The crucifixion is actually God becoming man. That is how what we speak of as Bethlehem is man becoming God. You cannot date them. But we have dated them, well, for church reasons. And today we speak of Good Friday as a day. In fact, we separate before and after. When Good Friday took place in the beginning of time, Bethlehem takes place at any moment in time.676 ¶5

When it comes, it will come suddenly, unexpectedly. No one will know when he is born within you and you become God. But when he said to me, “And as I dreamed, I dreamt a dream.” I dream—and I knew exactly what he was going to dream. He is dreaming that he is I. And when the dream of life is over, I will awaken as the dreamer. But then he’s awake and I will be awake as the one who so loved me that he actually became and took upon himself all the weaknesses and all the limitations of man. And they are unknown. So, this day is called Good Friday. You cannot date it. Any attempt to date it and ignore the altogether supernatural character of the event called the crucifixion and try to explain it in some naturalistic way is to labor in vain.676 ¶6

God actually became that which you are and he is dreaming your life. So, the dreamer in you is your own wonderful human imagination. That is God. Man is all imagination. And God is man and exists in us, and we in him. The eternal body of man is the imagination and that is God himself, the divine body of Jesus. That’s the divine body. And within us, we meet him morning, noon, and night by the misuse of our imagination. So, here the suffering life that they spoke of today, and all the statements that their faith said today, are taken from the Old Testament. The first two are from Luke, the third from John, and the fourth from Matthew. Then we go back to John for two more. And then we end with Luke. So, in the beginning forgive them for they know not what they do. Not one really knows or he can agree. And the power is putting him through the furnace and suffering with him. Because as you suffer, if you didn’t have an imagination, you couldn’t suffer. Remove imagination and you can cut yourself in pieces and you couldn’t suffer. So, God in man is the suffering one. He actually suffers everything that man thinks only he suffers.676 ¶7

So, someone will say to me, it isn’t God who suffers in my case. I am feeling the pain. I said, who? If I am, because that’s his name, that’s God’s name forever and forever. “Go to the people and say, I am have sent you. For, this is my name for all generations.” There is no other name that he has. So, in the gospel of John, it is always, I am. Throughout the entire gospel, he’s affirming I am the door, I am the shepherd. I am the vine. I am the true water, the living water. All these things the I am is speaking of, which is all in man.676 ¶8

So here this night, millions celebrated this day and they thought they did God a service, which is all right. It’s good to do something of that nature. So, they went out and they spent an hour, two hours, and spent three hours, and they heard these words from the cross and thought the interpretation given by the minister was the interpretation. The simple word, a word spoken of is not a word, but a competed sentence. It could be just, the shortest one is, “I thirst,” well that’s taken from the Psalm. In the very end, quoting now the 31st Psalm, but it’s put into the mouth of Jesus on the cross. And he said, “Father into thy hands I commit my spirit.” The completed verse in the 31st Psalm is, “Into thine hands I commit my spirit. Thou hast redeemed, oh Lord, faithful God.” He said, “I’ve come only to fulfill Scripture.” And all these words on the cross are taken from the Old Testament.676 ¶9

These things I remember for, may I tell you when it happened to me, memory returned. Walking in that procession to the house of God, memory returned. But when did it happen? Not on earth, not here. What did she say to the voice? “If he walks with us, where is he?” When did the voice answer, “At your side”? And when she became hysterical, looking into my face—when was it and where was it? You can’t fix it in time and you can’t locate it in space. But I can tell you it happened, as far as I am concerned in an objective sense; they all seem objective to me. And the voice was objective, all to the last one; because everyone heard the voice. She heard it and could question the voice. Yet in the very end when it spoke only from within me: “I laid myself down within you to sleep.”676 ¶10

A deliberate decision on the part of my father and the purpose of laying himself down in me to sleep is to transform into himself as God the Father; that’s his duty and to do it he put me through the furnaces. “I try you in the furnaces of affliction, for my own sake I do it.” For my own sake. I will not give my glory unto another, and glory and I are identical in Scripture. “I will make my glory to pass before me, and when I pass by.” So, he identifies glory with the “I”. So, forgive me himself, which is his glory, he has to try me in the furnaces of affliction. And so, I go through hell in the shadow. And when he awakes, then I awake as the one who so loved me, he gave himself for me.676 ¶11

So, this is the great story that took place, not took place, but I mean that we celebrate today as having taken place 2,000 years ago. And it’s not so at all. This is the eternal drama that is forever taking place. Something to be done absolutely and continuously without dating it. You can’t date it. It has no reference to time, no reference at all to anything taking place here. It is always taking place.676 ¶12

And so tonight, one, two, or maybe all of you, who knows, it’ll be his will this night that he unfolds himself within you and reveals himself as you. Then it’s his will, but no one can earn it. No one can force it. It will come and you’ll see when the Father reveals himself. When people say, I saw God, you don’t see God; God makes himself seen. You never see. He makes himself manifest. If after the whole thing unfolded within, the few who see me unveiled, it’s not because they came upon me and caught me by surprise. It was my deliberate choice to make myself seen. It’s entirely up to me to make myself manifest after the whole thing unfolded within. You don’t get anyone by surprise. I’ve made you a promise. I will keep that promise. I have kept it to at least a dozen that I have made myself seen twice, but you do not catch me by surprise.676 ¶13

And so, when these events unfold within the soul of man, it is God unfolding because we are told, “Rouse thyself. Why sleepeth thou, oh Lord? Awake. Do not cast us off forever”—but he will never cast you off. But it seems so long when you are eager. We now go back to the 42nd Psalm. He likens “the little hart”—now hart is not H E A R T, it’s the little fawn, the little deer, H A R T—“as the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee oh God.” My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Now we tell people the same of the famine of the world. It will not be a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but for the hearing of the word of God. When that thirst is felt, nothing in this world can quench it but an experience of God.676 ¶14

And that was an experience of God. When I heard his voice coming from without first, then coming within and I knew the “I” of the dreamer within was God. And I do not separate the dreamer within from the “I” when I awake. It’s the same me. I can have a daydream, as I have a night dream, but that daydreamer and the night dreamer are one and the same. So, if I can think of the “I” in a dream, the night dream, the most wonderful picture, the most marvelous bridge of incident, and actually experience it, well then, the same thing is true when I awake. If I only know that the “I” when I awake is one with the “I” that is dreaming, I can now get my goal in this world. Name the end. Go to the end. Experience the end as though it were true and let the dreamer in me build the bridge of incident and relieve me from where I am now to the fulfillment of that dreaming. When I get there, it will happen in the most normal, natural manner. It will externalize itself in my world. And I give all credit to the being within who is completing the dream.676 ¶15

And when completed, these things will happen. This that I spoke of earlier preceded the resurrection. The resurrection comes about and it’s not in some cemetery. It’s all within your own skull. When they came into the place, which is called the Skull, there they crucified him. In your skull. So go to bed a perfectly normal person, as you’ve done year after year, for as many years as you’ve lived, night after night, and something strange will happen while you’re asleep. You will feel a vibration that you’ve never known before. The strangest vibration. And you may interpret it as I interpreted mine. I thought, I know nothing of the human form. I know nothing of this problem. And I thought to myself, well, now this is it. I don’t see how I could survive this vibration. And I thought, knowing nothing about it, this must be what they call a terrible hemorrhage, but I couldn’t see how I could survive this vibration. Apart from that, I began to awake and I awoke like I’ve never been awake before to find myself in my own skull. And I knew the skull was my skull, but I also knew it was the sepulcher. I knew it was a tomb and it was hermetically sealed. There wasn’t the slightest little opening in that tomb. And I had one consuming desire: to get out, but I had a built-in wisdom as to what to do. I knew that if I pushed the base of my skull then something would give, that I could push myself through it and then come out. When I did, I pushed it, and something moved leaving an opening. And I put my head against the opening and squeezed myself out, inch by inch by inch. And I came through that opening as a child comes through the womb of woman, and I pulled myself up.676 ¶16

And when I came out, all the symbolism that you find in Scripture, especially in the book of Luke, surrounded me: the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, three men to witness the event, and the most fantastic wind. There was a storm and I interpreted the wind to be coming from the corner of the room, although I still felt it in my head. And one of the three who were present, he felt it and he was the most disturbed of the three. They all felt the wind. He went off to investigate the wind and looking down he saw the child, the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and he picked it up. And he looked into the little face; he announced what it was. And he said, “It’s Neville’s baby.” The other two in the most incredible voices asked, “How can Neville have a baby?” But they couldn’t see me. I was invisible to their eyes. I was so alive, so awake. I’ve never been awake like this before. I can read every thought. Their thoughts were objective. I heard what they said and their thoughts, not yet expressed, were objective to me. They couldn’t conceal anything from me. And he brought the little infant and placed it on the bed. Then I took the infant up in my hand, and I said, looking into his face, “How is my sweetheart?” And the little child broke into the most heavenly laugh and then the whole thing dissolved. They dissolved, the room dissolved, the infant dissolved, and I found myself on the bed with this fantastically, indelibly imprinted upon my mind.676 ¶17

I got out and wrote the whole thing in detail and mailed it to my wife. I went down the hallway and dropped it in so that there’ll be a record that the story of Scripture is supernatural and is not secular history. It’s something that’s going to happen to every person in this world in their own good order. But it is not something that happens only to one person. It is going to happen to all. It is God being born in man. That was his pledge to himself. And that man would actually become God. I was invisible to them—why? Because God is spirit. But it didn’t rob me of the feeling of the part and understanding and wisdom that I did not enjoy when I wore the garment of flesh. Invisible to them. But I invite you, you are not invisible to the heavenly host, but they were not present. Only the three who came like the three shepherds coming and they saw it.676 ¶18

And then, 139 days later, a vibration similar to that one started in my head, this time at the top of my skull. Again, I thought, this is it. There’s going to be an explosion with this. Well, there was. This time the whole thing exploded and then it all settled, sending me forward as God’s son—not Jesus. David, as told us in the Old Testament. As David said in the 2nd Psalm, “I will tell of the decree of the Lord. He said unto me, thou art my son. Today, I have begotten thee.” And then he tells it in the 89 Psalm, “I have found David. With my holy oil I have anointed him. And he shall triumphantly say, thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.” I did not know, born and raised in the Christian faith that I was and call myself a Christian. My training did not reveal this at all. And here I see David and there is no uncertainty as to the relationship. I know he’s my son and I know that he knows I am his father. If I am his father and he is God’s son, well then, who am I?676 ¶19

Everyone in this world is going to awaken as God the Father. There’s no room for anyone else in the universe but God. For God is transformed in this wonderful creation into himself, and everyone will awaken as God the Father. So, it’s the story of Jesus. Jesus is God the Father. You want to see the Father, and I’ve been so long with you Philip, and yet you do not know me. He who sees me has seen the Father. How then can you say, “Show us the Father?” I and the Father are one. Yet, I and the Father are one and the Father is greater than I, because he is the office of sender. I am limited, but when I return to myself, the Father, I am not in the office of the sent but in the office of the sender and the sender is greater than the sent though they are one.676 ¶20

So, Jesus is not the son, he is the Father. David is the son. Did not David in the spirit call him, my Lord? And “my Lord” is the title that the son always used to describe his father. He always talks of his father as my Lord. And when I tell you it is David, it is David. No one in this world would ever, I would say, dispute it. He can deny it now, but he would’ve had the experience. And when you have the experience, you can’t deny it. I could no more deny that experience than I could deny now the simplest evidence of my senses, I couldn’t. It’s indelibly invested in us.676 ¶21

So, all of you are supernaturally based. And yet men have been taught to believe they are part of secular history. It is not secular history. This being is born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. So, God became man that man may be born as God. And because God is a Father. If he’s going to give himself to me 100 percent, then I must be a Father. Not just a Father, the Father of another son, but no, that Son. If he gives himself to me, tell me who are you? But he’s a father. But what is your son’s name? David. Well, if David is your son and you succeed in giving yourself to me, I must be, if you succeed, I must be David’s father. That’s going to happen to everyone in the world. Not one will escape it, for it’s not God’s will that one be lost. Can’t be lost.676 ¶22

So, if you go through the furnaces, do not let anyone condemn you for it and say “serve you right” or this, that, and the other. Never. It is God’s will. He passed through all the furnaces, but he did it for his own sake, for he could not give of himself until we are purified in the furnaces. And then he calls us out one by one, not in pairs. You’re too unique. There is not one person in the world who can take your place. You are unique. The only one just like you. And so, in time, you are going to be called into the living temple, a living stone in the living temple until the whole temple is done.676 ¶23

So, we are told the curtain was torn in two from top to bottom and people looked in the synagogue for some curtain that was stolen. How could it be when the Scripture tells us we are the temple of the living God and the spirit of God dwells in you? If I am the temple of the living God, and the curtain of the temple is torn, it can’t be something of the outside made with human hands. It has to be the temple that I am, and that too is the one that is torn in two from top to bottom. You don’t expect suddenly a bolt of lightning will cut you in two from top to bottom. At the base of your spine, you’ll see a golden, pulsing liquid light. It’s lit. As you contemplate it, you are going to know it is yourself and you would infuse with it. And then like a fiery serpent, you do the same thing to your own skull. But when you get there, it’s going to reverberate like sound. So, you tell the story in the third chapter of John, and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the son of man be lifted up. What did he lift up? A fiery serpent. And just as he lifted it up and called out to the shadow. No fiery serpent was lifted up in the wilderness. All these other shadows that you’re told in the book of Hebrews, he was told to do this according to the reality. Build it according to the reality, but yours will only be a shadow, a shadow of the things to come. All this is a beautiful imagery, but although the words are figurative, the truth is literal. When it happens to you, it’ll be literally true though, when you read it, the letter, the words used will predict lifting up a serpent in the wilderness.676 ¶24

Now, it all lifted up within you that created power within you that went down into generations will be reversed into regeneration and moved back up into heaven for heaven is within you, and God is in his heaven. For the kingdom of God is within and a kingdom means a king. And the king is within and you rise within yourself. One with God. And you play the part that you are predestined to play before that, the world. So, this is a glorious day, if understood. A perfectly wonderful day. In fact, all the way within, but there are only shadows and we mistake them for the reality. And they’re not.676 ¶25

Now, this Psalm we quoted today is the 42nd Psalm. It’s called a maskil, a maskil of Korah. The word maskil means in Hebrew, a special instruction and Korah means reality. True. That is really true. That which is real. So, it’s a special reality or rather special instruction on truth, on reality. So, this is a Psalm that everyone should read and finally understand it. You have heard it this night. Take that with you when you read, for I’m telling you, the day will come. You too will lead them in procession. Don’t think of Neville, and Neville alone got them in gay procession. Now you will play that part. And everyone will play that part. Everyone must lead them in procession to the house of God and everyone will hear, and everyone will have someone beside to question the outer voice. And then everyone leading them in the procession is going to hear the inner voice coming only to them. “I laid myself down with him into sleep. As I slept, I dreamed the dream.” I dreamed and knew I was Neville without anyone coaching me what the sentence means at the very end. He’s dreaming that he’s I, you will say to yourself.676 ¶26

And then you’re going to know what the crucifixion is. It’s not painful. It’s sheer ecstasy, may I tell you. And if the memory of it brings back this ecstasy, just imagine what the original was. For these things I remember. For if I can remember something and become so ecstatic about it, just imagine what it was when in the beginning, we were crucified as God. As Paul tells it, I have been crucified with God. And he confesses he never saw Christ Jesus after the flesh. He knows the whole drama was within himself. And because it took place within himself, he would not confer with flesh and blood. And all these are the great traditions put into historical form and men now worship an external Jesus, praying he is within. As you’re told in the Scriptures, “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you, unless, of course, you fail to meet the test.”676 ¶27

And then he gives us the test. And the test is so very, very simple. And here is the test. You’ve heard it several times tonight and only you can judge whether you’ve passed or failed. But I’ll give you the test many times. This comes from the 5th verse of the 15th chapter of 2nd Corinthian. Test yourselves and see whether you are holding to the prayer. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you, unless of course you fail to meet the test. Now, you just heard the words Jesus Christ who tells it in the beginning, you think, if the word Jesus, or the word Christ, or the word Lord, or the word God, or the word Jehovah convey the sense of some existent something external to yourself, you fail the test. You haven’t yet found it within. And I’ll tell you, he is within you: your own wonderful human imagination; that is the Lord Jesus Christ. So, if on hearing these words, you jump out and think of something external to yourself, existing, yes, but external to yourself, then you fail the test. As you walk there, walk in the consciousness of being this one, who so loved you, who became you. He is your own wonderful human imagination.676 ¶28

Now you can test him in this way. If all things are possible to God, and he is within, and he is my own wonderful human imagination, certainly I should be able to test that. I will now dare to assume that I am the man that at the moment reason denies and my senses deny. But who is doing it? Who is making the assumption? I am. That’s his name. And all things are possible to God. And he’s just made an assumption. He’s wearing this garment and responds to the name, Neville. When someone calls the word, Neville, he responds. But he is the reality that actually wears the garment.676 ¶29

Now, I assume, well, I am assuming as God, I am assuming that I am the man that I want to be. I know exactly what I want. Well, walk as though you were. That’s all he asked of him. When you pray, believe you have received and you will. Believe that you have, not you’re going to—believe that you have. Then, why not walk as though I have received? If I walk in the assumption that I am already the man that I want to be, though reason denies it, and my senses deny it, I should encounter that man. I will actually become that man, so that others can see I am that man.676 ¶30

Well now try it. Take a noble concept of yourself, something new, something wonderful, something that you would like to live with. Assume that you are it and walk as though you are. Sleep as though you are. And then let the one within you, who so loves you that he became you, unfold you in that life. For eventually he is going to unfold you as himself. But in the meanwhile, in the world of Caesar, let him unfold you as the man, as the woman, that you would like to be. Make it noble, make it something lovely. Always use your imagination lovingly on behalf of others. And certainly, on behalf of yourself. Nothing little, nothing that would take from anyone in this world; leave them just as they are. Don’t rob them, leave them, think noble things of them, but for yourself dare to assume something wonderful and live in it just as though it were true. And I tell you from my own experience, it will become true. Now let us go into the silence.676 ¶31

You Must Experience God

God is known by experience or not at all. I have experienced God. I can no more deny it than I can the humblest evidence of my senses. And so, I feel qualified to tell you how you are going to experience God. There is only God in the world. When you say, “I am,” that’s God forever and forever. Tonight, you will know why the term “Judeo-Christian” came to be hyphenated. The story as told in the Old Testament is a prophetic blueprint; that which is told in the New is its fulfillment. They are really two parts of one book: the prophecy and its fulfillment. God became as we are, that we may be as He is.672 ¶1

Every little child born of woman is aware that it is. Before it is aware of what it is, who it is, where it is, it is aware that it is. That’s fundamental. That is God-in-that-child. It’s the same God in the adult. It is the dreamer in man. It has to be awakened; and when it awakes, it is the being in whom it awakes, and then he knows who he is.672 ¶2

We are told in Scripture that: “The hour is coming when all of those who are in the tomb will hear His voice and come forth.” They hear the voice of the Son: it’s called the voice of the child. And the voice of the child, like a tuning fork, sets the tone; and then the dreamer awakes and knows that he is God. It’s entirely up to the voice of the Son. “When the time had fully come, God sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, Father.” He is crying Father, but we do not hear it—not until “the fullness of time has come.” So, we are told in the 44th Psalm: “Rouse Thyself. Why sleepest Thou, O Lord?”672 ¶3

It is God who sleeps in man. It is God-in-man who does everything that man does—good, bad or indifferent. He actually became as I am—that’s His name—that I may be as He is. And He is Father. The day is coming; everyone will know the experience that I have had, for there is no other experience in eternity that can convince you that you are God the Father, other than this experience. His Son must call you, and you must respond; and when you actually hear it and then look and see what is calling, and it is your son, David, then everything returns. Memory returns, and you know exactly who you are: that you are God the Father, and your son is David.672 ¶4

This secret is told us in Scripture in the words Jesus Christ, and you take it as one being—one being only if you know that “I and my Father are one;” but if you do not know that, here you find two beings. Jesus is I Am. That’s the Lord. “No one can say that Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit is called the “Remembrancer.” “I will go and I will send the Holy Spirit who will bring to your understanding all that you have heard from me.” So, he brings back the memory that you lost. So, no one can say that “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.672 ¶5

So, when the Spirit comes and memory returns—but you will never know that you really are until you hear the voice of your own son, for you’re suffering from complete and total amnesia. You do not know that you are God the Father. And you will never know it until you hear the son’s voice; he is calling and calling, but only when the moment is ripe will you hear it. And just as we have told you, like the tuning fork it sets the tone, and it wakes you, and you hear it. When you awake, standing before you is your son; and memory returns—the Remembrancer, the Holy Spirit. And then you know exactly who you are, and you are God the Father.672 ¶6

It is going to happen to every child born of woman. And therefore, every child born of woman is one with the speaker who has had that experience, because it is the identical Son who is calling him Father. And there is only one God, one Father of all, and only one Son. So, when he calls you Father, and you know it because memory returns, and he has called me Father, and I know it—then you and I are one. So, there is only one body, one spirit, one hope, one lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in all.672 ¶7

That’s the mystery of Scripture. It hasn’t a thing to do with secular history. It is all salvation history. Not a thing to do with history as the world teaches it. You and I are experiencing history—secular history; and my history is known to anyone who wants to investigate it. I wouldn’t say that it is anything to write about. I was born in a simple little environment without any educational, social, financial background whatsoever. I am making a struggle like all people make a struggle in the world—to pay rent and to buy food, and then to put the garments on the body. That’s a struggle for everyone. They seem to have no time for the Spirit.672 ¶8

But the day is coming, all will have this experience, regardless of the struggle; and no one will be greater than the other, because everyone is the same God the Father—the Father of the one and only Son, who is David. So, you know why we hyphenate the name “Judeo-Christian.” Judaism is the foundation and Christianity is its fulfillment. That is the fruit on the tree; that’s the flower. Without that tree, it couldn’t bear the fruit; so, the whole thing is contained in that Old Testament, but it is adumbrated; it’s a foreshadowing in a not altogether conclusive or immediately evident way.672 ¶9

When it happens, it’s not what the world thought should happen. They are expecting some being to come from without and save them, and He doesn’t come that way. He comes to us as “one unknown,” yet one who in the most ineffable mystery lets the individual to whom He comes experience who He is, and you will never experience who He is until He awakes by the voice of His Son who is calling: “Rouse Thyself. Why sleepest Thou, O Lord? Awake! Do not cast us off forever”—as you read it in the 44th Psalm, the 23rd verse. So, as we are told in the 5th chapter of John: “And the hour is coming when all those who are in the tomb will hear His voice”—the Son’s voice—“and come forth.” And the tomb is your own wonderful skull. You are not buried in any cemetery in this world. Let them build all the great mausoleums they want. That’s man. It is big business. Let them do it; let them build it. But you are buried in your skull. That’s where God is buried. And out of that Golgotha, He will rise.672 ¶10

And He will rise while you walk the earth. You will sleep this night without knowing you will be awakened by the call of that voice. The voice is a vibration. It is a sound. And so, David will sound the call. It will be in tune with you if the hour is right; and then you will awake to find yourself completely entombed within your own skull. And without any assistance from without, you will push the base of your skull and come out, just like a child being born from the womb of woman, only this is now being “born from above,” not from below. And when you come out, all the symbolism of Scripture will surround you. The witnesses will be there. There are three—and the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, which is only the sign of your exit from that heavenly “womb.” You are born from above. And from then, you go to another scene, another scene, over a period of three and a half years, and your journey is then completed.672 ¶11

You’ll remain in this world long enough to tell of your experience—to tell of your own experience of God. And until God is experienced, you do not know Him. Let all the preachers do what they want; it’s perfectly all right. They are sound asleep because God-in-them is sound asleep, and they are speculating. They are theorizing, based upon what they believe God ought to do. He should punish this one and punish that one; and they do not know everyone punished is God being punished for His dream. He is dreaming the dream of life. And many dreams are like nightmares; whether they be waking dreams or the dreams of sleep, they are nightmares. But nevertheless, it’s still God dreaming.672 ¶12

Who is dreaming when he wakes in the morning? We will say, “Well, I had a dream,” and you had a dream. “A horrible dream! I was”—and then he begins to describe it: but what is he saying? He is calling Him by the name of God. It was God who had the dream. When he wakes, “I am going to do so-and-so.” Who is that saying, “I am going to do so-and-so?” That is God. There is nothing but God in the world. There is no room for anyone in the world but God and His only begotten Son. And His Son is David. That’s His Son.672 ¶13

Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah, and “David in the spirit called him ‘my lord.’” That’s the son calling him “my lord.” Here is Jesus of Scripture—the awakened God. He’s not asleep. Here is the one who first awoke in the world. But then he calls us “brothers.” He said, “Go unto my brothers and tell them I am ascending unto my Father,” but he said, “I and my Father are one”—“unto my God,” and he also said, “My Father is your Father. My God is your God;” and “I and my Father are one;” and my Father is He Whom you call “God.” Here the mystery begins to unfold. Until you actually experience it, you do not know how wonderful Scripture is. Man must experience Scripture before he can begin to understand how altogether wonderful it is. It’s eternally true. From beginning to end, the whole thing is true, and it is not secular history. It’s divine history.672 ¶14

So, I share with you what I know from experience. I am not theorizing. I am not speculating. It happened to me—a simple man, as you are simple; and I did not for one moment suspect this was the mystery until it actually unfolded within me and I experienced it. When someone who supposedly lived three thousand years ago calls me “Father,” I know exactly that I am his father; there was no uncertainty as to this relationship. I am looking into the face of the most heavenly youth, and he was the one who called me from my profound sleep; and when I awoke, it was God awoke, for he is calling upon the Lord to awake: “Rouse Thyself. Why sleepest Thou, O Lord? Awake!” And then you awake as though you had never been awake. It’s a peculiar, strange awaking that takes place in you. And now you see this heavenly, eternal being who is the Son of God; and because he is going to wake you, you will know that he is your son, and he will know that you are God. So, in the end, everyone will awake, and everyone will be God.672 ¶15

So, it takes all of us to make the Lord. It’s a compound unity—the word “Elohim.” It is a plural word. “In the beginning God”—that word is Elohim. And “God said, let us make man in our image.” That word is Elohim—a compound unity: one made up of others. It takes all of us to make the one God. “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one”—not two.672 ¶16

So here, the only one who could ever rouse you and actually bring you from your profound sleep is your son, whose name is David. “I will tell of the decree of the Lord,” said David. “He said unto me, Thou art my son. Today I have begotten thee.” And so, we have confused it with Jesus, and Jesus is the Lord. He is the Lord speaking. He is the Lord who inspired the prophets to write what they did. And finding no one to fulfill it, He Himself came into the world and became man. He became you. His name is I Am. That’s the Lord God Jehovah that we call “Jesus” in Scripture. That’s I Am.672 ¶17

“Do you not realize,” said Paul, “that Jesus Christ is in you?” Don’t you know that He is in you? Are you looking for Him to come from without when He is within you? Well, He is within. You cannot say, “I am” and point elsewhere. Whether you are in a frightful dream, you are aware. To be aware is saying, “I am.” And you can’t point on the outside of self when you say, “I am;” and “that is my name forever and forever.” And that is the Lord Jesus in every being in the world. But his Son plays such an important part—that Son called David. You say he is the son of Jesse and Jesse means “I Am.” The word Jesse means “Jehovah exists.” It is any form of the verb to be. In other words, I am. That is the Father of David.672 ¶18

And what I tell you I am telling you from experience. I am not the scholar who simply went through Scripture and combed it to bring forward this theory. It’s not theory with me. I am not qualified to go through the Scriptures—knowing Greek and knowing Latin and knowing Aramaic—to do that. It has happened to me. It was all revelation. So let the scholars go on and try to find it. Let them go on. Until it’s revealed to them, they do not know it. Revealed truth cannot be actually, legally or—I would say—logically proven. It’s all revealed. If it isn’t revealed, well then speculate. And I am not speculating. I am telling you exactly who God is. And until you experience God, you do not know Him. And I am telling you from my own experience, you will experience God; and then you will know Him. And you’ll know why we hyphenate the words Judeo-Christian. It’s one tree. The tree is Judaism; the fruit is Christianity. Christianity is simply the fulfillment of Judaism.672 ¶19

So here, he tells you: “I will not leave you desolate. I will come again.” And then He becomes invisible. The story is told us in the pre-existence before that the world was. And here, He becomes invisible, because He takes up His residence in us; and the darkest hour in the world, symbolized in Scripture as the three hours of darkness that descended—no; the darkest hour is when God became invisible. As He became invisible, he took up His residence in us; and man is looking for Him to come from without, and He cannot come from without. He will rise from within, but only at the call of His Son’s voice.672 ¶20

So, in the fullness of time, He sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying what? “Father.” And if you hear it, then you respond. Responding is waking. And you begin to awake within yourself to find yourself entombed within your own skull—completely sealed; but you have an innate wisdom. You know exactly what to do, for He prepared the way before He set forth. You know exactly what to do: you push the base of your skull, and it gives; and then you come out. And the symbolism surrounds you. You know exactly who you are—but not quite until the Son appears. At first, only the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes; and you are told in Scripture that’s only a sign, like the sign on the top of the White House. I ask the guard, “Is the President in residence?” And he looks. If his insignia is flying, he will say, “Yes, he is in residence.” If it’s not flying, the President is not in residence. If the little child is found wrapped in swaddling clothes, then I ask, “Is God born?” “Yes, here is His sign.” This shall be a sign unto you. You shall find a child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying on the floor. When that sign is found, the question is asked, “Is God born?” Yes, here is the sign of His birth.672 ¶21

But when the child comes—not the little infant—when the Son comes, then you hear his voice. And the voice is the voice of God’s Son, who is Christ. Christ is the Son of God. And the “Anointed” means Christ and Christ means the Anointed. And did he not say in the 89th Psalm: “I have anointed you with my holy oil.” Well, who is He speaking to? He is speaking to David. Did He not say in the 89th Psalm: “I have found David, and David has cried unto me, Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my Salvation.” Did He not say in the Second Psalm, “Thou art my son. Today I have begotten thee.” All these words were inspired by the One Being whom we call Jesus, the Lord. He inspired it through his prophets, and then Himself came down and took upon himself humanity. I am speaking of the Cosmic God—of the Cosmic Son.672 ¶22

So, He is buried in every child born of woman, but this is so unique: He comes to us individually. He calls us, one by one, in season. So tonight, could be your call. It may be tomorrow night. I hope it is not in the distant future. But He will call all; and when you take off this garment, having been called and having seen the Son, you have taken it off for the last time.672 ¶23

Until it actually happens to you, death is not death. Death is nothing more than simply leaving a room and entering another room, simply like the room you left—the same terrestrial world. With all the struggles you left behind you. You’ll find them there. You are restored to life, not as a baby; no reincarnation. You are restored—a young man, a young woman, with not a thing missing. No need of anything to be added because nothing is missing; only you are young—about twenty years of age—to continue your journey in this world, to be confronted with all the problems that are here. Yes, and you marry there, too. You marry, and you grow old, and you die there, too. And if it hasn’t yet happened, you are restored again to continue the journey until it happens.672 ¶24

But it’s going to happen to every being in the world. Not one can fail, because then God would fail, and that’s impossible. So, everyone will awaken from the dream of life. And it doesn’t end at that moment in time that your senses cease to register that being and we speak of him as dead. He is not dead. He’s in a world just like this—restored to life in a world that is terrestrial, in a young, wholesome, healthy body, with all the problems that faced Him; because in the Resurrection of which I speak, there is no marriage, no male, no female—a completely transformed being, who is God. But until then there is still sex—very much so in that world.672 ¶25

But I am telling you what I know. I see them—my father, my mother, my brother—so many friends who are gone. I see them. They are not gone at all. They are in a world just like this, with all their struggles. Therefore, I ask you to live so that your mind can store a past worthy of recall, for you are taking that with you. Spend all of your time entertaining noble thoughts, for you are taking that with you into the world where you are headed, unless this thing happens before you make your departure from this world. If it does not happen before that, you are taking with you what you have actually entertained in this world. So, live so that your mind can store a past worthy of recall, because you are going to actually take it right into your world to resolve it. And that is a part of your struggle.672 ¶26

But the day is coming; everyone is going to have the experience that I have just told you. No one can avoid it. If others have other ideas, let them have it. I wouldn’t raise a finger to change it. They have all these “isms” in the world; let them have it—all kinds of concepts of what God ought to have done. What God ought to have done, He has already done. The drama is over. The Resurrection is taking place. It didn’t take place once and forever two thousand years ago. It is taking place at every moment of time.672 ¶27

But not everyone is articulate. Not everyone is sent to tell it after it takes place. So, they will go through their little exit from this world, not having told it to anyone. On the other hand, I was not restrained. I had to tell it, like Jeremiah: “If I say I will not mention it, or speak anymore in His name, then there is in me, as it were, a burning fire, all shut up in my bones, and I am tired of holding it in, and I cannot.”672 ¶28

So, I cannot restrain the impulse to talk about it. Others can. They are embarrassed even to bring it up; but I am not. It is part of my way of being, of thinking.672 ¶29

So, I tell you, the voice spoken of is a real voice, but like all voices, you are now interpreting the vibration that is coming from my mouth. It is all vibration; and then you actually translate it within yourself because it is simply impinging upon you. Well, this is the same voice. It’s just like the tuning fork. And then it sets a tone, and the tone rouses you if you are in tune with that tone; and then you are actually hearing Him call you. He is calling you “Father.” And you awake to find standing before you this heavenly youth. And then, at that very moment, you know exactly who he is, and he is David, the sweet Psalmist David; and he is your “son,” and you know he is your son. Memory has returned.672 ¶30

So, “God became as we are, that we may be as He is.” Don’t for one moment forget that. That is the great sacrifice. It was God who “died.” “Unless I die, thou canst not live But if I die, I shall arise again & thou with me.” So, it is God who is crucified on these garments. And the God in you—His name is I Am. And when you hear the voice and you awake, who awakes? I awake. Who is waking? I am waking.672 ¶31

And who is His Son’s name? I am telling you, His Son’s name is David; but because he has been anointed with the holy oil, he is the Christ. “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” In the Old Testament, the word Christ is not used, but the word Messiah is. He is the Messiah, for the Messiah simply means the “anointed one.” And the Messiah is used only in the Book of John in the New Testament. He does speak of the Christ as the Messiah, and it is not Jesus. Jesus is the Lord. Yet the Son could say, “I and my Father are one.” So, “When you see me, you see the Father.” He is the image of the Father. You are told, “It does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears, we shall be like Him.” I am telling you that is exactly what is going to happen. Forget the mask that you are now wearing. Behind that mask is the Ancient of Days, the Eternal One who is the Lord God Jehovah. And David is the image of the Lord God Jehovah. He is the Eternal Youth, and the Lord is the Ancient of Days, without beginning, without end.672 ¶32

So, when you dwell tonight on it, treat it seriously. What I have told you this night is true. I haven’t speculated. I haven’t turned to anyone for support. I was never taught it. It’s in the Bible, but I never saw it in the Bible until I experienced it. That is why I can tell you, until God is experienced, you do not know God. One must experience God to know Him. He is not deaf; you don’t have to scream to have Him hear you. You need not utter anything. Your simple thought is heard because who is hearing it? I am. That’s God. The way they have all these prayers—“let us pray.” They put on all these microphones and just blast the whole thing out calling upon God to hear them. That’s not God. God is within you. And the God—the only Living God—is your own wonderful human imagination. When you say, I am, that is God!672 ¶33

“By Him all things were made, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” In His dream, naturally, He makes mistakes. God makes mistakes? There is only one that can make a mistake, and that is God. There is only one that can make anything, and that’s God. For in a nightmare, well, can you blame the man if he has the most horrible nightmare? You would console him in the morning if he told you of some horrible dream. You wouldn’t condemn him. Well now, this is a waking dream; but it is still a dream. So, in the end, everything is forgiven. Every being in the world is forgiven, for there is only God who did it all!672 ¶34

So, the story is the Father and His Son, and there is no other being in the world. And you are the Father and His Son is your son. And if he can say, “I and my Father are one,” then he can say of you, “I and my Father are one.” When you look into the face and you see that beauty—you cannot describe the beauty of David. No artist could paint it. He is the image of you. But no one knows it, only the mask that you wear, for He is the image of the invisible you, and He bears the express image of your person. But your person is not the thing that you wear as a mask. You are the Immortal Being. You are the Eternal Being.672 ¶35

When you hear it and you really believe it, you will see why this book of sixty-six books is really a library. When you have a Bible of both the Old and the New under one cover, you have a library. Very few homes have sixty-six books in them. If they have a Bible, they have sixty-six books, and they have the greatest library in the world in having the Bible. And one is the Old; the other is the New. One foreshadows, and the other tells you how it is fulfilled. But even though it is fulfilled, it still remains a mystery to those who have not experienced it.672 ¶36

So, I tell you He comes to us as One Unknown, yet one who in the most wonderful manner lets you experience who he is. And when you experience who he is, it’s your Self. That is God. What a sacrifice. He literally became as I am that I may be as He is. And that is true of every child born of woman.672 ¶37

Now, if you enjoy other things, enjoy them; but you will not in Eternity undo what I have told you. Not in Eternity will you disprove it, may I tell you? All the wisdom of the world cannot disprove what I have told you tonight. You may rise in opposition, and I wouldn’t bat an eye to argue with you, for I know what I have experienced. So let them argue. I will not argue. They said he was silent. “You will not speak to me.” Why argue the point? “So, you were a king. The world says so.”672 ¶38

“It’s the Father’s good pleasure to give me the Kingdom.” Well, if He is going to give me the Kingdom, He is going to give me Himself, for He is the Kingdom. Read it in the 12th Chapter of Luke, the 32nd verse: “It is your father’s good pleasure to give”—you don’t earn it, it’s unmerited, it’s grace—“to give you the Kingdom.” And when He succeeds in giving me the Kingdom, He succeeded in giving me Himself, for He is the Kingdom. The Kingdom is not a realm, as the world teaches. It is God.672 ¶39

The character that is God, that is perfect; so, wherever you are, clothed in that perfect character, everything is perfect. Everything is alive. Nothing is dead and nothing is imperfect wherever you are after you have received the gift. You could walk through the Petrified Forest, and it would all suddenly burst into blossom. Walk through the desert, and the desert will bloom. Come into any place where they are imperfectly formed—eyes that are missing out of their sockets will come out of the nowhere and fill the empty sockets, and they will be perfect. Arms missing? No, not in your presence when you receive the Kingdom. In the presence of You, the Perfect Man, nothing can remain imperfect; but you don’t do it out of compassion. You don’t even do anything. Your very presence does it!672 ¶40

So, no matter where you are—go down into hell, hell is transformed into heaven. Wherever you are is perfect, because you are now the King. You have received the Kingdom. I am telling you from my own experience. You walk into a world, and the world is instantly transformed to be in harmony with the perfection that is springing within you.672 ¶41

So, I tell you, “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.” That is a wonderful way of telling you it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you Himself! That’s how the evangelist told it in the Book of Luke: “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you Him-self.” And your Father is God. And God is Jesus. Jesus is the Lord. There is no other God! But He’s a father, and because He’s a father, He has a son. And I am telling you, in spite of the whole vast world, that Son is David, our sweet Psalmist of Biblical fame. And he will stand before you, and he too will call you “my Lord, my Father, the Rock of my Salvation.”672 ¶42

Now let us go into the silence. Good, now are there any questions please? Any questions?672 ¶43

In any of Blake’s writings can you tell whether or not he had received the Promise?672 ¶46

As far as I am concerned meeting Blake, as I have met him in this wonderful risen world, Blake had everything described in Scripture. When you meet him, he is one of the most majestic creatures that you could meet. Let me quote speaking of tonight’s lecture, it’s taken from his book Urizen, I think it’s the seventh chapter and, “The dead heard the voice of the child and began to awake from sleep. All things heard the voice of the child and began to awake to life.” So, when God became man, he transformed death into sleep. God is infinite mercy and man is dead. God, in becoming man, made man a living soul. He transformed death into sleep and then in the dream he transformed the dream of himself into Himself and raises him as Himself. Oh know, Blake had it. But you’ve got to read like all things, when Blake, read between the lines because as he said to the Reverend that criticized him. The Reverend said to him, “You know, you need someone to elucidate your ideas.” Blake said, “Is that so?—But you ought to know that what is grand is necessarily obscure to weak men. That which can be made explicit to the idiot is not worth my care. The wisest of the ancients considered what is not too explicit as the fittest for instruction because it rouses the faculties to act.” Something that anyone can see, even the idiot, well then it isn’t worth my care. So, he told in the way he did, causing you to dig for it. You have to dig for it. But Blake to me is one of the giants, spiritual giants of the world. I’ve had people say to me, “Why didn’t he have money?” Who wants money when you had what Blake had? All the money in the world today couldn’t buy one single copy that is at Yale. He left behind him five copies of Jerusalem, only one he colored. It is now in Yale University under lock and key. When Blake sold it, I think he sold it for one hundred guineas. That would be equivalent to $500 when Blake sold it. You couldn’t buy that copy today no matter what sort of money you brought for it. You couldn’t buy it, it’s the only copy in the world. He left five copies, four were not colored. This is the only colored copy that Blake left behind him. It’s priceless.672 ¶47

Know What You Want (Our Real Belief)

Tonight, the subject is our real belief. And I really want this series to be the most productive that we’ve ever had. And by that, I mean I want everyone present to really have a goal, a noble goal, and realize it, realize it before we close in May. May I tell you, you can realize it. I mean that seriously. So, what do I mean by our real beliefs? Our real beliefs are what we live by. Real belief and knowing are one. What a man really believes is just as though he knows it. It’s tantamount to knowing. So, when I tell you believe, I call it faith, I call it belief, it is not complete until it becomes experience. One must experience it and then they know it. Now you will hear the same thing tonight. Everyone present will hear exactly the same thing, but no two will hear it in the same depth. Some will hear it on the surface, others will hear it below the surface, and others will hear it down in the very depths of their being. It’s where you hear it. As we are told, “The Word came to them as it did to us, but it did not profit them because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard it.” They heard it and rejected it, but they heard it. It came in and went out. It did not receive acceptance by those who heard it and so they instantly rejected it. Tonight, I hope you will not reject what I’m here to tell you, but that’s your choice, you’re free. You will accept it or reject it.671 ¶1

But I tell you, if I get through tonight and you apply it, because you are the operant power, I can tell you that it doesn’t operate itself. If this very moment I ask you to think of a friend, just think of a friend. And now hear him tell you something lovely, something lovely about himself, about a mutual friend or about you, just hear it. Do you believe that that actually took place? You may say, “Well, I imagined it, but it didn’t really take place.” I will tell you the day will come, and I hope now, that when you imagine a state before you have external confirmation of that state, to you it is as though you heard it externally. You know it. That this internal act is equal to the external confirmation of that act. You get to that point because the difference between God and man is measured only in terms of this imaginative power.671 ¶2

If I were to speak of the power that is God, as we are told in Scripture, is revealed constantly as power, sheer, third chapter, fourth, fifth, and sixth verses of the book of Exodus, sheer power. Moses stands in the presence of power, but it’s creative power. And the distance between God and man are measured by simply power. On this level, if I’m in the service of my being, only this is real and what my senses allow. But if I go deeper into my own being, moving ever towards the core of my being who is God, then my imaginative act becomes externalized. Quickly externalized as I go deeper and deeper. On the surface, it seems to take an interval of time, if I believe. If I don’t believe it, it never comes into some external form at all, never. Yet I’m living in a world, not understanding it, not knowing what it’s all about.671 ¶3

So, really the story that I want to tell you is trying to ask you, and plead with you to buy your religion wholesale, go to the maker, go to the source. Don’t buy it in retail from some man in between. No one in between you and the source. You go right into the depth and buy your religion wholesale. By going to the source, which is your own wonderful human imagination, your own Iamness, that’s God.671 ¶4

The story we told you last Tuesday of one whose name was Eddie. Eddie had the identical experience to the one recorded in the book of Exodus. When he heard, “do not come up here”; read the words, the words are, “do not come here.” Read it in the book of Exodus, the fourth, fifth, and sixth verses of the third chapter of Exodus. And the Lord said unto Moses, “Do not come here.” And then Moses hid his face, not in shame, but in fear; he was afraid to look at God. So, Eddie saw the symbol of God and he ran, he was scared too. The identical story. What did he hear? The revelation of God’s name, I am. He first heard it, I am, no one in sight. Then it repeated itself so loudly, he thought it came from above. He looked up thinking it was some machine, maybe some helicopter with a PA system is broadcasting the name, I am. There was not a thing in sight. And then the third, don’t come up here. Being curious, he did go up there to the hill to confront a rattlesnake. Fortunately, it was not coiled to spring. It was simply a four-foot-long snake, all stretched out: the symbol of the creative power of God.671 ¶5

But it scared him. It scares man that man actually sees what really is in himself, that he’s solely responsible for everything that’s taking place in his will, solely responsible. It scares him. It’s too much. Until he goes deeper and deeper and hears the same word of truth but hears it in depth and then he assumes full responsibility for all that is taking place within him.671 ¶6

So tonight, let me share with you a few stories. Seven years ago, a lady, she’s not here tonight, she’s now on a new job and is taken away for a while. But when she heard it, that imagining creates reality, she said to herself, “Well, if that is so, I would like to go to Egypt.” She had no money. She’s never been a lady of means, always working, small sums of money, could never accumulate what it would take to make the trip. And so, the usual story, she told her dream, she didn’t keep it to herself, she told it, nothing wrong in it.671 ¶7

If you really believe it, you can tell it. As you’re told in the Scripture, “Go, tell no man, but show John, show the world.” Well, that’s if you don’t tell man before—will man believe you after the event? He may question your honesty. But if you tell him before the event, then he is assured because actually, you have a witness to the fact, that you did tell him before the event. So that is also in Scripture. And now I will tell you before it takes place that when it does take place, you may believe; but that is courage in the depth of the soul, where one knows the imaginal act is in effect at the very moment of the act, though not yet seen by the outer man. But not everyone has that courage and that faith in the imaginal act.671 ¶8

So, she told it and naturally her friends criticized her. It is stupid to go to that man, you waste your money. It’s not religion. What is it? He’s telling you that an assumption, though false, if persisted in will harden into fact—but that’s stupid. It doesn’t make sense. To them, a true judgment must conform to the external fact to which it relates. So, if I say, well, isn’t this a lovely dog, and there is no dog to bear witness to my judgment, my judgment is false. So that’s what they gathered from what she told them that I am teaching. And so, the whole thing is insane; it’s stupid.671 ¶9

Well, the years went on, it’s been seven years now, and this is what happened this past week. She got a job, she’s a nurse. And so, the job moves around. She goes from home to home where the need is there. And so, she found herself in the environment or the neighborhood of a friend she had not seen or contacted in a year. She had exchanged a birthday card and a Christmas greeting with a little note on the card, but no telephone call and no other contact. Finding herself in the neighborhood, she calls her. When this friend heard her voice on the wire, she said, “Oh Jen, you can have it, you can have it.” She said, “All right, all right, I’ll take it. What is it?” And then this is the story. There was a party, a pre-Lenten party at the hotel, Hilton, some Mardi Gras by a Catholic society, the Joseph and Mary society. There were door prizes. The major prize was a thirty-day trip, first-class, all expenses paid, and stopping along the way at the Hilton hotels in the Near East. And Egypt is part of the setup. The lady and her family had spent several months last year abroad and had no desire this year to go abroad again. In fact, they’ve already arranged to go to New York City for the World’s Fair, which opens in April. So, a trip abroad is out. Furthermore, this ticket, this door ticket only accepts one person, not a group, not a family. So that was what her friend said to her, she would give her. Jen said, “All right, I’ll take it.” And then called me up to tell me the story. Delayed seemingly seven years, she still now has her ticket, if she wants it, to the Near East where Egypt is included. And she goes, first-class, all expenses paid, everything paid—because she believed. Maybe in the interval, her faith wavered, maybe she justified it by saying, “Maybe I don’t want it.” Or in some strange way, try to explain it away. But it still, in its own good time, came to the surface.671 ¶10

I’ll ask you not to throw your dreams away and feel that they are impossible, a realization in this strange drab world of external facts. Every dream can come true if I can get through to you that your imagination is God, and that your imaginable act when you think of a friend carrying on the conversation, that is Jesus Christ in action. Examine yourselves to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourself. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? If he is in you, then who is he? He is your own imagining. God is your imagination. God in action is imagining. And God in action is Christ. Christ as defined in Scripture is the power and the wisdom of God. So, I tell you, everyone can realize if you really believe in Jesus Christ.671 ¶11

One billion will say they believe in Jesus Christ and cross themselves before a piece of wood or a piece of marble or clay or something other than a living God. And they’ve been kneeling before these external icons. Here is the king of Greece, who just died. And they brought what they considered a holy icon for the man who has died. In the eyes of God, a king is just like a servant. They do not differ. One’s love for one is not greater than his love for another. To what extent have they heard the word of God and believed; so, he’s dying, they’ll bring a holy icon. It didn’t work, just saw the little icon, and so he makes his exit like any other person in the world.671 ¶12

I hope that everyone here will find the real Jesus Christ. The real Jesus Christ is your own wonderful human imagining. That’s God in action. The real God is your own wonderful, lovely imagination. When you say I am, that’s God.671 ¶13

Now let me share with you that which was given to me this past week by a gentleman who is here tonight. He’s written the most glorious stories. I hope he keeps it up because they’re exciting. I share them with those who came home since I received his letters and I will share them with you tonight. He’s a writer. He writes for TV. He started three years ago on this show that has been running for three years and he writes every third of four scripts. He said when I started my price was $2,500 a script. And in two years, my agent got it up to $3,000 a script. Then a year ago, last Christmas, my mother came west, came from the east to visit us, and I told her what I receive for a script, $3,000 a script. And she said, well, I always assumed that you got $3,500 a script. She wasn’t all impressed with $3,000. And then he tried to explain to her that as far as he knew, there was no writer in the field, solo writer, who got more than he did. He was getting $3,000 a script. She was not impressed. Didn’t disturb her at all. She still said that as far as she was concerned, it was worth $3,500 a script.671 ¶14

Well, two months later, the agent was called by the studio for a contract, a renewal of the contract for the next year of writing. Before that thing, he would go over to the studio, he would have to discuss it with the writer. And so, he explained to the writer, he didn’t think that they should ask for more. They moved it from $2,500 a script to $3,000 a script, and you shouldn’t price yourself out of the business by asking for more. And so, the writer agreed. It was a nice, friendly relationship between himself and the producer. So why ask for more and get out of the business? So, it was agreed. The very next day after this agreement, a conference was held to discuss stories, a story conference. And so, the producer said to the writer, “Have you come to an agreement with the contract for the next year?” And he said, “Yes, I’m going to sign.” He said, “Have you asked for more money?” He said, “No.” “Did you ask for more?” He said, “But you are always complaining about the budget, it isn’t big enough, and now you are telling me to ask for more.” He said, “You ask for more money.” Again, he said, “I don’t want to price myself out of the business.” He said, “You tell your agent to ask for more.” So, when he went back, he called his agent. And when he told the agent to ask for more money, the agent thought he had too many cocktails for lunch. So, he said, “No, I will give you the source.” And he told him what had been told to him that very day at the conference. So, the agent now armed with this information that the very producer had recommended an increase. So, he called up the business office of the studio and asked for more. And they simply blew their top, they screamed. And then very generously, they said, forget it as though you didn’t even ask for it, so that the nice relationship between the producer and the writer can go on as it has for the past three years. But the agent knowing the source was adamant. And so, when he came out of that office, he came out with a contract for $3,500 a script.671 ¶15

So said the writer in his letter to me, “My mother merely assumed that I was getting $3,500 a script. And so, her assumption went behind the backs of all of us, producers, everyone, and bore fruit.” So, then he said, “I called her up and I told her what I was getting a script now. And then she started to seriously study your books.” And he said, “A problem, a very great burden had been with her for twenty-five years, a most distressing problem, which I will tell you about at some future date. But may I tell you, last Friday, it was completely swept out of her life. And now a confession is in order. When I first heard you, I couldn’t understand you. And then I began to be afraid that I was going mad because I could understand you.” Then he said, “I will explain that later.” So, I am waiting equally for that explanation.671 ¶16

But we are told in the book of John, “He has a devil. He is mad. Why listen to him?” You have your Bibles. That’s the 10th chapter, the 20th verse of the book of John. That is the chapter where he said, “I and my father are one.” He had just gotten through in the previous or the eighth chapter by saying, “I know my father, my father is he whom you called God, but I know my father and you know not your God.” And for this, they stoned him, stoned him with the little facts of life. That’s the stone of Scripture. When you throw the facts at a man, when the man dares to assume what reason denies, what his senses deny, then you who will not go along with his depth, you’ll throw the stones or the facts of life at it to deny the reality of what he’s claiming by a more imaginal act.671 ¶17

And so, he had just gotten through making these bold assertions—“That I and my father are one. And my father is he whom you call God, but I know my father and he knows not your God.” And so, this story, he said, “I didn’t understand you. And then I began to fear a form of madness because I could understand you”—for this is, it takes you into an entirely different world for reason on this surface, over the mind, doesn’t really prevail, that you really believe in the reality of what inwardly you are doing. And then it comes to the surface if you don’t tell it before, and you tell it afterwards, they will question your honesty. If you take them into your confidence and tell it before, if you have enough faith, go about your business, if you don’t, they will plague you and throw the stones at you. And every time they meet you, they’ll say, “Well, where is it? You said you’re going to have a certain home, a certain job, a certain sum of money. Where is it?” And so, they are always throwing the stones at you or the facts of life.671 ¶18

Now, here is something and you listen to it carefully. It’s a long letter, and he’s bringing out certain points that might have escaped you, for here what we are trying to do is to find out all the little facets of the greatest secret in the world: the secret of imagining. For as Fawcett said, the secret of imagining is the greatest of all problems to the solution of which all should aspire for supreme power, supreme wisdom, and supreme delight lie in the solution of this far-off problem. This great mystery. And he has found some light on it.671 ¶19

So, if I can recall, it’s a long letter, typewritten four pages, but I will give you some of the highlights of it: So, when I met my producer three years ago, he was a very subdued and reserved sort of a gentleman. Reserved, he says, would be the right word to use to describe him, very reserved. So, unlike the volatile enthusiasm of whom I formerly worked, he was very reserved. In fact, he couldn’t express the superlative in any way. In fact, his greatest praise was the word, good. So, you brought in the script and he would accept the script and his highest praise was good. Well, I thought I’m going to change this. So, I lay on the bed and I heard him say to me, great, just great. Now I hadn’t started on the script. I had just given him a script and he pronounced the script, good. I am now doing this about the next script. And I heard him distinctly. I went over and over in my study or set up as it were. So, I heard him inwardly pronounce the new script as great, just great. And while I am lying there, the phone rings, I haven’t started the script. The phone is ringing and it’s the producer. And he is telling me that the script that he had formerly pronounced good was great, just great. Well, he said, he threw me a curve because that’s not what I was expecting, it was about the new script, which I hadn’t even started. So, he not only threw me this curve, but someone had their lines crossed.671 ¶20

So, right there, I kept on now working on the new, I would say, line for him to use, and I change it from great, just great to terrific. And so here I am. I only heard one word, it is terrific. Well, I submitted a script and that’s exactly the word he used when he said to me, it’s terrific. And with the same enthusiasm that matched my imagining. Now I said to myself, two months later, every script I presented within two months, it was either great, just great, or terrific. It didn’t go back to good anymore.671 ¶21

So, I said, now, I’m going to experiment again. So, this time I’m going to make him say absolutely sensational. So, I heard him say absolutely sensational. Then he says to me, what the hell if you’re praising yourself why not get the best? So, I am doing it to myself anyway. So, why be modest about it? I am doing the whole thing because he’s only echoing it. So, I said, absolutely sensational. So, I finished the script, took the script into him and he pronounced it good. He said, I almost fell out of the chair. It was not the role that I had written for him. And he said, do you know how authors hate adlibbing? You know what that means in the theatrical world when the author writes a play and some actor thinks he knows more than the author and he changes the script and he adlibs, or maybe he forgets his lines. And if he’s smart enough, he can throw a few words in, and he adlibs. But no matter how smart he thinks he is, he doesn’t flatter the author. The author feels, he knows better than any actor, what should be there at that moment. And so, he said in his letter, you know how authors hate adlibbing. So, what could I do? The script had to be cut. So, he gave me back the script to cut a certain portion of it. I took the script home, did all the cutting, and then mailed it to him. And I mailed it as a petulant child. I didn’t even revise what he had said. But the very next day he calls and he said to me on the wire, it’s absolutely sensational.671 ¶22

Now this is the point I want you to pay strict attention to. He said, you know, my experience with the producer disturbed me, greatly disturbed me; to hear or to occasionally think about this, isn’t so bad. By that, he meant you hear that all that you behold, though, it appears without, it is within, in your imagination of which this world of mortality is but a shadow. Well, to hear that and to occasionally think about it, isn’t too bad, but when it seeps in, and takes hold of you, and goes deeper, you realize that it’s true, that that producer who is so important in the production of this great series, who is spending its fortunes, he has it to spend, that is, he allows it. He knows what he’s doing. He’s been successful for thirty-three years. And yet he had to actually utter the word that this writer is writing for him. And when he met him, he was so reserved, he never used any superlatives, and could never bring himself to praise a thing beyond the word, good. And he raised him from good to great, just great, terrific, absolutely sensational. That’s an enormous accomplishment in anyone’s vocabulary when he began as a most reserved party. So, when the individual writer now sees what he did with a man, he said, you know, it distressed me. It distressed me for the simple reason, I had to remake my world only as I remake myself. Only as I could remake myself, could I in any way remake the world, and what an undertaking.671 ¶23

But if I found a solution, I will not now think of myself X number of years into the future. I am painting a portrait of myself and portraits are not painted by one stroke with a brush. And so, I am taking it easily. I start with the little things in my life, the little things, and I change them to make them conform to the portrait of the being I am painting of myself. I started with a simple thing. We have a cat, or we had a cat, and it simply clawed up the entire rug. All the rugs were simply pieces of felt, all torn up. And so, we delayed buying a new rug. Really, said he, we were hoping that she would die. After all, she was fifteen years old and she seemed determined to outlive Methuselah. But because she still was very healthy and she didn’t die, we bought the new rug and right away, she started all over again to tear up the rug. And for two days, I said something must be done in my imagination. I had proved it with the producer. So, I went to work in my imagination and saw this cat in the backyard tearing up a mat that we had in the backyard for just such a purpose. On the third day, she was out in that backyard, clawing the mat until the day she died, she never once tore up our rug.671 ¶24

Here is the destructive power in the world, saved in the imagination of man. If someone heard that story and didn’t believe it, they could this night have a cat in their house and they will say, oh, that was just coincidence, in his case, it wouldn’t work here, so I’m not even going to try it, that borders on madness, and no one wants to be mad. In fact, to say that you were once put away is like leprosy. They don’t want that. That you were once committed to some asylum, to go to a hospital because you had a pain and you needed an operation, that’s allowed today because everyone has them. But not everyone is put away for some mental, I would say, side issue. And so, in his case, he did it. The average person would’ve heard it and who would believe that in their own home, they too, could make the dog or the cat or the bird or anything else conform to an imaginable act.671 ¶25

Well, having done this, now he sees the power within him. He’s not going to go all out, he knows he’s done it. He has tangible proof that he’s done it. And from now on, he said, he’s going to actually be faithful to what he has found within himself. He’s found, Christ. The day is coming, he will actually stand in the presence of infinite love. But before he stands in the presence of infinite love, he presents himself first as infinite might. And throughout the Bible, you can’t find any basis to deny it, it is might, it’s power and authority. From beginning to end, when he presents himself, it’s sheer might, sheer power, until one day, man will see that this power on this level and in many levels below resolves itself into infinite love, and it’s man. And it’s the being that you’re moving toward, and it’s God the Father. So here, in his own case, it scared him or rather it depressed him to think that such power was in man, and yet it’s no other place. It’s only in man because the power of which we speak, the greatest power in the world, really the only power, is your own wonderful human imagination.671 ¶26

Now, the lady whose story I told first, Jen. Jen said that this present job of hers, this little boy came home from school, and the high winds we’ve been having took the aerial down and flattened it. It’s still on the ground, she said. And so, she tried the TV and there was no TV. She tried it and tried it and there was no TV. The little boy came home and she said, oh Lord, he’s going to be so disappointed because he’s back from school, and he wants to see the TV. So, he goes straight to the TV. He turns it on. He saw the aerial flattened. Then he put his two hands on the top of the machine and just put them there. And she said to him, you know, there’s going to be no picture; he said, oh yes, there will be. That does it. And she said, what does it? He said my imagination. I just imagined it, it’ll do it. He came back, got in front of the picture with Jen, and here comes this beautiful picture. Now, Jen couldn’t do it. And yet she knows this principle, but she’s an adult now. We become adulterated as we grow in this world. The little child could actually believe that that power in his hand was all his imagination. It’ll do it. And Jen told me over the telephone because she’s working, she can’t come here now, that the little boy only put his hands on it and swore that there would come a picture, and the picture came to Jen’s amazement, but not to the boy’s. He sat and looked at it and Jen sat there bewildered. The one who has the thing now to go to Egypt.671 ¶27

Now to come back to the gentleman’s story, he said, I saw an ad of a Swiss record changer, and so I went over to my electronics dealer and I told him that I would like one. He said they aren’t in the country and they will be possibly a few weeks before they get here. But we have eleven orders so far. Would you like to order one? He said, yes, I’d like to order one. So, he ordered one. So, he said at the end of the month, he received a bill for $375 for the changer, while he hadn’t received the instrument, so he called up the office and they apologized. They said that the girl mistook the order for a sale. And so, we have bad news for you, said the girl, it will not be here for three or four months, but they corrected their mistake, it was not a bill. It was simply an order that they had misinterpreted.671 ¶28

He then said to himself, I will now look around the house and spent three days instead of writing to see where he is going to put the outlet for this machine. And when he decided where he’d put it, he called the electricians and had them bore a hole through the wall to put in the cable for this changer. Now he said, I will need a stand for it. So, he went out, looking for a stand, went to all the places, and one salesman said, what kind of a machine have you? Because you don’t like these stands. So, he told the nature of the machine. And the man said, if you have one, it’s a miracle because there aren’t any in the country. And there won’t be here for three or four months, which was only confirmed in what the agency said. He said, oh, I can’t find the stand, I will design one. So, he designed the stand and had it made. When the stand came, and he placed it where he intended to place the machine, he said to himself, I will now see the machine in there, which he did.671 ¶29

Now, he said, now that I have the machine it is the only fair to pay the bill. So, he sat down and wrote the check out and sent the check off to the electronic firm for $375 in full for his machine. Two days after this, they called him to say, we have your record changer. He wondered why there were twelve of them on the list. The man only received four in his shipment of an order of twelve. And this friend who wrote me the letter said, well, it could be that I sent my check in advance because I paid for what to me was before me in my imagination. It could be that, on the other hand I’m not asking questions, why he gave me the first one in and why he jumped me from twelve to number one. However, I have the machine, and now my next problem is this: It’s a very delicate, complicated, sly, tricky thing. And so, I am now trying to imagine myself smart enough to operate it.671 ¶30

So that is the story of using your imagination. I say faith, as we are told, we understand that by faith, the world was framed by the word of God, but you know who God is now, your own wonderful Iamness, that’s God. He’s framing his world but it takes faith to hear it. Without faith, it won’t work. To hear it mixed with faith, it will work. If you sit down as he did, he said, I lay on the bed, you can sit right here and carry on this inner, mental conversation from premises of fulfilled desire, for thinking follows the tracks laid down in one’s own inner conversations. You control the nature of the conversation and see to it that it’s not an argument, it’s simply from wishes fulfilled, regardless of the nature of that wish, you carry it on the inside.671 ¶31

Some are better at the video, they can see better, they can hear, but I find hearing so very, very easy, and I am not a musician. So, you don’t have to be musically inclined to really hear. I appreciate music, but I don’t play. And I don’t understand music in the true sense of the word, I simply appreciate it. Yet, I can hear it vividly, a man’s voice as he speaks for one second, let me get the tone, then put upon that tone any word I want to hear, and I hear it as though he were here.671 ¶32

Now how long it takes for what I have heard him say to come to pass, I don’t know. As we tell you in that story of the book of Habakkuk: “The vision has its own appointed hour.” “It ripens, it will flower. If it be long, then wait, for it is sure, and it will not be late.” So, one seed grows overnight. Another seed takes a month. Another seed takes a year as in birth, a boy, a child comes to this world nine months, but a chicken comes out in twenty-one days. And so, everything has a different interval of time between conception and birth in this world. So, what determines the nature of an interval, I don’t know. But have faith that it is sure and it will not for its own sake be late, not for its own nature will it be late. So, if a child comes out in nine months, it isn’t late for a child. If a chicken comes out in twenty-one days, it’s not late or early for a chicken. That’s the interval of time between that moment when it was fertilized and properly nested and then the moment of breaking the shell and hatching.671 ¶33

So here in our case apply it. And you will, in the next few months, I’m only here for three months, not yet three months. And you’ll be able to tell me the most fantastic stories in the world because you couldn’t start from anything more behind the eight ball. You meet a conservative gentleman who would never beyond, well, the wildest dream, go outside and exclaim something is really, absolutely sensational. It’s all against his nature. A thing is good, that’s good enough. You’re being well paid for it. You’ve got $2,500 and you’ve got $3,000 for a script. And every three weeks you’re bringing one in because it’s a half-hour’s show. It runs weekly. So, every three weeks, you’re getting a check for $3,000. Now you’re getting $3,500. And yet the man I’m quite sure like all writers, he is not contracted to write only and only for that, if he has time outside of writing these scripts, there are other outlets for his talents as a writer. He’s not confined to that. And therefore, the man who is not given to exploding, he made him explode and raised him gradually to great, just great, terrific, and then the final explosion. And he said in this letter is the warmest and the friend is the relationship between us.671 ¶34

So, I ask you to do the same thing. I don’t care what it is in this world, know what you want, conceive a scene implying the fulfillment of that dream, and then inwardly carry on these mental conversations from the premise of the fulfilled desire. If you can see at the same time that you hear like a TV set, all right, put them together, it’s better. But if you can really visualize, and not many can visualize, you will find the audio very, very simple. But when you begin to visualize, may I tell you, it’s the most thrilling thing in the world, to be able to actually see just like this, to be in a dream awake. It’s like being in a dream, only awake.671 ¶35

And so, then you take it and return to this level where it hasn’t taken place, you have no fears, you have no doubts. The whole world could collapse. You know you saw it. You’re still seeing it in your mind’s eye now. But you actually saw it and you heard it. And so, it must come to pass. You saw it and you heard it. And so, you meet someone who is passing through sheer hell and they ask of you anything, still in your world, sing them out and hear them tell you that they have what they sought, just as though they have it. And then let it go. Don’t raise a finger to make it so. Don’t get in the phone and call a friend to ask the friend to intercede, to help you out. Don’t do a thing. Just simply believe in the reality of your imaginal act. Because if you go to the end, then you can’t concern yourself with the means to that end. That will deny the end by any means that you would even entertain to aid the growth of it because you went beyond the pregnancy right into birth. And so, you saw it and you heard it. Now leave it alone and let it work. And may I tell you, it will work.671 ¶36

And then you will find God, and when you come to the final grand, I would say the last stretch, the final stretch, when you’re going home now, really going home, leaving behind you, this world, this age altogether. They will come one after the other, the most fantastic mystical experiences where everything said of Jesus Christ you will experience and you will know beyond all doubt who Jesus Christ really is. That he truly is supernaturally born. Born out of a skull of a man. How he discovers the fatherhood of God. And how he ascends into Heaven and everything said of him happens to you. And so, you know how true the story is, how altogether fantastically wonderful Scripture is when one experiences it.671 ¶37

And so, I ask you to join with me in testing this greatest of all mysteries. Put it to the test. Start with something simple. The average person would have a destructive animal like the cat wouldn’t consider that a simple problem. And yet in 48 hours, it was resolved. But one point he made when the man told him, he used the words, he expressed himself when he said to me, terrific. He expressed it with the enthusiasm that matched my imagining. The world is the only response, infinite response, it’s an echo. And the whole vast world only echoes. And so, what echoed in this case, when he said, terrific, you can see what the writer’s imaginal act was. He actually caught a mood that was really forceful. So, then the word terrific came through, it wasn’t simply, “Oh, I think it’s terrific.” He exploded with terrific to equal the emotional state of the man who made him say terrific.671 ¶38

So, catch it and feel it and use your imagination as a great actor would. He has to put himself into the part and play it. And to the degree that he feels it, he gets beyond the footlights. If he doesn’t identify himself with the character that he’s trying to depict, he never gets over. He has to become the character. And so, this one became the character of hearing the actor whose lines he wrote. And the actor was given a line to say, you said, terrific, and I’ll listen carefully because you’ve got to say it and I am directing it. I don’t want any little terrific. I want you to really give it. And so, I will now give you the mood that I want you to adopt. And so, he gives them to him and the word comes through exactly to match his imaginal act.671 ¶39

And his use of words fascinates me because not everyone understands the baseball language. When he said he threw me a curve, something entirely different. It wasn’t what I expected. That was less the script that you read, he said and pronounced, good. I don’t want that. I want you to pronounce this new statement and say that it is really great. Great. Just great. Of the new script, I haven’t even started the new script. I used my word, but you sort of predated it. You went back in time and called it the other script, and then the man comes back and actually calls it. But after he changed the word from that to terrific. That’s really discovering how you use your imagination. But if you don’t and you think, “well, it’s just on this level,” you will never get off.671 ¶40

But I want everyone here to really believe it and try it. If I take from you this night, if you’re here for the first time and I’ve taken off, shaken your belief in a personal God outside of yourself, a personal savior outside of yourself, I don’t apologize because I know it is true what I’ve told you. I am not theorizing. I’m speaking from experience. And so, when I take this platform and tell you that I know the reality that is God. I wouldn’t care what the whole world would say about it. When they say, “You don’t mean that God truly stood before you or you stood before him and you looked into the face of man.” I say, yes, I did, and it is man. I am is spirit but it needs man its perfect form to really express anything in this world. So, it assumes the form of man. So, when you see I am in form, the form is man.671 ¶41

Just like the little girl who told her grandma, “You know what? I went up last night in my dream, right up to the sun. And you know what? He has a face. And you know what? He has hands and he has feet. And you know what? The ocean, the big ocean talked to the sun. And you know what? The sun came down to the earth. And you know what? He has legs and he can walk. And he walked right over to me and kissed me on the cheek, and it was hot. Now, isn’t that a silly, silly dream, Grandma?” But it’s true. There is nothing but God and God is man. And so, when Blake was asked, when you see the sun, do you see a big round guinea? He said, no. A host of angels claimed holy, holy, holy. He drew him as man. It’s nothing but man because man and God are one. God is man.671 ¶42

So, I ask you to take what I’ve given you this night, take it home and you try it. It costs you nothing, only the effort and the little time that you will spend in doing it. But bear in mind, when you do it, believe it. Because the words are, “The word was spoken to them just as it was to us. But it did not profit them because they did not receive it with faith, those who heard it.” And so, when you do it tonight, do it knowing that that in itself is a creative act, that imaginal act, and be faithful to it. Though faith does not give substance to that imaginal act, that unseen reality. Faith is loyalty to unseen reality. You simply are loyal to it. You made a pledge, all right, now you’re loyal to the unseen reality. Questions, please. Yes, sir?671 ¶43

Questioner: [...] Neville: No. The three tests are quotes from the book of Deuteronomy. And man in this world, the only devil in this world are the facts of life, the doubts of man. If you could take it, personify doubt, and give doubt a voice to speak, it would throw at you all the facts of life that would be in conflict with your dream, that the dream in itself was the reality before wearing a form. And so, doubt is telling you, “Well, if you think you can do all these things, then cast yourself down. For he has given the angels power to lift you up …”671 ¶44

His Purpose

Tonight’s subject is: “His Purpose.” When purpose is revealed, everything falls into place, so the revelation of purpose gives meaning to the existence of life. There is a purpose behind it all. It may not seem so, judging from this level, but there is a purpose . . a great purpose. It is God’s purpose to give Himself to us, because in the end we will awake as God. That is the purpose. Paul tells us he knows the plan by which it is done when he writes his letter to the Ephesians. He says, “He has made known unto us the mystery of His will according to His purpose which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time.” Then he tells us, “In the fullness of time God sends forth His son into our hearts crying, ‘Father.’” “In the fullness of time” . . that is, in the very end of the drama, His son appears calling us, “Father.” Then, and only then, will we know that God has fulfilled His purpose in us.662 ¶1

Now, this is the fulfillment of Scripture, and we are told, “Scripture must be fulfilled in me.” “And beginning with Moses in the law and all the prophets and the Psalms, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures, the truth concerning Himself.” “For Scripture must be fulfilled in me.” He says, “In the volume of the book . . which means the Bible . . it is written of me.” For, from beginning to end, it’s all about that central character that is being formed in us. And when He is formed in us, He comes forward, and That One calls us, “Father.”662 ¶2

In the story of “Job,” the innocent being suffered unmercifully; the word “Job” means, “Where is my father?” That is the search of every child born of woman . . Where is the Cause of the phenomena of life? Where is the Father of it all? Where is He? In the end of the book of Job, Job can say . . as the world can say who has accepted the belief in God, “I have heard of thee with the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees Thee.” When you have heard of God . . and those who believe in God have heard of God . . but in the end, more than having heard of God . . you see Him.662 ¶3

Now, how do you see God? We are told in Scripture, “No one has ever seen God, but His only begotten son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made Him known,” for to see God, you must see Him in His son. The son reveals the Father. Now we are told, “No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”662 ¶4

Now, we have searched the Scriptures for that Son, and we are told in Scripture, in the 2nd Psalm . . and the Psalmist by the name of David is speaking, and he is made to say: “I will tell of the decree of the Lord: He said unto me, ‘Thou art my son; Today I have begotten thee.’” Then in the 89th Psalm . . these are now the words of the Lord, and He says: “I have found David, my servant, And he has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, My God, and the Rock of my Salvation.’”662 ¶5

Man, having been taught that the Bible is secular history, hasn’t the slightest concept of this Scripture . . of this mystery. When Paul speaks of this mystery that was revealed unto him, he is not telling us that this is a matter to be kept secret, but it is a truth that is mysterious in character. Tonight I will share with you my personal experience of this mystery, and I know it’s going to be the experience of everyone in the world, for it is God’s purpose.662 ¶6

Twelve years ago today in this City, across the way at the Hotel Sir Francis Drake, that mystery began to unfold in me. I retired quite early, having read a bit of the Bible, a bit of William Blake, and then retired. I made a call to my wife and daughter, who were then in Beverly Hills, and then turned in, in a very normal manner. Then at about 4:15 in the morning a vibration that was the most intense thing that I’ve ever experienced began in my head. It was an earthquake, plus a storm! I felt that every bone in my skull was coming apart.662 ¶7

I entertained the thought, not knowing anything of the human form . . I am not a doctor, so I knew nothing of what a cerebral hemorrhage would be, but I thought for a moment, “This must be it. It must be a massive cerebral stroke, and maybe this is my departure from this world.” That was the feeling I had . . the thing was so intense! But this is what happened: instead of being one who departed the world, I began to awake. At the moment, I thought I would awake as I had awakened for 50-odd years of my life. Now this was 1959, twelve years ago.662 ¶8

But as I awoke, I awoke within my skull, and I knew, as I woke within my skull, that my skull was a sepulcher. It was a tomb, and I am alone! And my skull was sealed, there was no opening, a completely sealed tomb . . sepulcher. I had one consuming desire, and that was to get out. I intuitively knew that if I would push at the base of my skull that something would give.662 ¶9

I pushed the base of my skull from within, and something gave . . rolled away. Then I stuck my head through that opening and pushed, and I pushed and pushed, and I came out inch. . by-inch-by inch, just as a child comes out of the womb of a woman, only this exit was out of my skull! And when I was almost out, I pulled the remaining portion of my body out of my skull.662 ¶10

Now a peculiar, unearthly wind began, and I thought it was coming from the corner of the room. I looked over where I thought it originated. I hadn’t turned away more than a matter of seconds. The wind was in my head, and it was also coming from the corner of the room. When I turned back to where the body was, the body was gone, but in its place sat my three older brothers. The oldest sat where the head was, the second one sat where the right foot was, and the third one sat where the left foot was.662 ¶11

They, too, were disturbed. They could not see me . . and I will tell you why later. I could see them and hear their thoughts. Every thought was objective to me. I heard their voices. I heard their discussion about the wind. And my brother Lawrence, the first one . . he got off the bed and started towards the same direction where I thought this storm originated. He hadn’t gone more than, say, two feet when his attention was attracted to something on the floor. And looking down, he announced this . . he said, “Why, it is Neville’s baby!” My other two brothers, Cecil and Victor, in the most incredulous voices asked, “How can Neville have a baby?”662 ¶12

He did not argue the point. He stooped over and lifted the evidence from the floor, and here was a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. He brought it towards the bed, and laid it on the bed. Then I lifted that little infant in my arms, and looking into its face, I asked the little child, “How is my sweetheart?” It broke into the most heavenly smile, almost to a laugh, and then the whole scene dissolved.662 ¶13

That is the story of the birth of God! It’s not the child. The child, we are told in Scripture, is only a sign. “And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger” . . lying at the very lowest ebb. But a sign of what? That God is born! “Not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” . . Self-begotten.662 ¶14

I had not the slightest idea that the story of Jesus Christ was so literally true, for I was taught, as every Christian is taught, that it was historically true two thousand years ago. I did not realize that it was contemporary, that it has to be something that takes place in everyone throughout Eternity . . that God’s timeless Plan is taking place in time. His timeless purpose is working in time. And in the fullness of time, this one is called, that one is called, that one is called, and each gives birth to God, for God is the Savior! As we are told, “I AM the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior, and beside me there is no savior.”662 ¶15

So, the Savior is born! And you contain that Savior within you! God literally became, as you are, that you may be as He is. This is the story of life through death, the story of the germ of wheat. That little grain of wheat must fall into the earth and die, or else it remains alone, but “if it dies, it bears much fruit.” So God actually dies, to completely forget He is God when He becomes you. He is buried in you, and He will awake in you, and the sign of His awakening in you is the little child wrapped in swaddling clothes. That is the evidence that an event outside of the wildest dream of man took place at that moment in time, and the one in whom it took place was the one in whom God awoke! That was the sign.662 ¶16

Now we come to the child. There’s another child. We are told, “Unto us a child is born” . . that is the child, but . . “unto us a son is given.” These are two entirely different events. They are separated by approximately four and a half months, approximately, 139 days, to be exact. A hundred and thirty-nine days later, a vibration similar to that one that preceded it, in the child’s birth, takes place again in your skull. And this time it is centered at the top of the skull, and you feel you can’t take it. When it reaches the apex of intensity, at that moment your skull seems to explode. It actually explodes.662 ¶17

And then you find yourself in a modestly furnished room, looking at a son, and you know he is your son! He’s a boy, oh, about thirteen years of age, and you know exactly who he is. You know that he is David of Biblical fame, and you know he is your son. And you know he knows that you are his father! You look down before you, and here is an enormous head severed from a body. That is the head of the giant that your son severed, and you know he is the David of Biblical fame and you are his father!662 ¶18

David’s father is God. The name in Scripture is Jesse, and “Jesse” is any form of the verb “to be.” It actually means, “Jehovah exists.” That is the name of David’s father. What I am telling you, you do not know now, but no one in Eternity can convince you that you are God but your Son. I can tell you from now to the ends of time that you are God, and you will say, as Job said in the end of the book of Job, “I have heard of Thee with the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees Thee.” You can only actually know that you are when the Son appears. For, “No one knows who the son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal it.” So, “No one has ever seen God, but His only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known.” But He appears at the end of the drama.662 ¶19

Then you know why you put yourself through the “furnaces of affliction.” It took all these “furnaces of affliction” to awaken you from that self-imposed death, that you may redeem man. And, so, He actually awakens within the individual, and he awakens as God! But not one thing in Eternity could ever convince an individual that he is God, save the Son of God who calls him, “Father.” He said: “I have found David . . . And he has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, My God, and the Rock of my Salvation.’” That, you will read in the 89th Psalm. This is how the drama unfolds within the individual. This is God’s purpose.662 ¶20

Now, we are told, “You must be born again. Except you are born from above, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up.” You read those words, and they seem to mean what? Nothing! Just words. May I tell you, they are literally true. As we are told in Peter’s First Epistle, “We are born anew … through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Now you know who Jesus Christ is! It is your own True Being, which is that in you that will actually rise from the grave. The moment you rise from the grave . . right on the heels of it, follows your “birth from above.” So, you are “born from above” through the resurrection of Jesus Christ-in-you. But He rises in you from the grave of your own skull. That’s how He rises in you.662 ¶21

So, do not look on the outside for Him. Jesus Christ is in man, or man could not breathe! He is in you, or you could not be alive. And the day will come He will actually unfold Himself within you as you. He comes to us “as one unknown,” yet one who in the most ineffable mystery lets us experience who He is. And when we experience Him, we experience Him in the first-person singular, present tense experience. You can go out and tell it to anyone who will listen to you, but you cannot persuade them that it is going to happen to them until it does happen, and they will know how true your story is.662 ¶22

Because, the Bible teaches that, no matter how you tell it . . how persuasive you are, you cannot convince anyone that he is God. Only the Son can convince the individual that he is God! Until the Son appears, the Son cannot be spoken of as your son. He has to appear, and through some peculiar, innate wisdom, you look at your son as though memory is returning . . as though you had suffered from amnesia. So, God is rising in man and his memory returns.662 ¶23

“God has sent unto you,” as it is said in Scripture, “your own spirit.” Now you know that the Holy Spirit is The One who brings back the memory of all that was foretold. “I will send the Holy Spirit, and he will bring unto you all that you have heard from me. He will reveal to you all Truth, and you have only heard the truth from me.” That is what He says. So, when memory returns, you can hardly believe that you are looking at one that you formerly denounced as your son.662 ¶24

When you read the story of David, has it ever occurred to you that the David of Biblical fame is your son? You would say, maybe . . if you were not born in the Jewish faith, “How could he be? I am a Christian. David is a Jew, and how could he be my son?” Forget Jew, forget Christian, forget black, white, yellow, pink, and see it as what it really is. It is God’s Plan of Salvation. It hasn’t a thing to do with what the world teaches. It is all something entirely different.662 ¶25

Now, if this is true, and he said Christ is the Son of God, and he tells you that David is the Son of God, is David the Christ? Let me turn to the 11th chapter of Revelation. “And the kingdom of this world becomes the kingdom of our Lord and of His son.” “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His son.” They do not say in Revelation, the 11th chapter, “Jesus Christ.” They speak of “the Lord and of His son.”662 ¶26

Now, who is the Lord? We are told in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, the 12th chapter of II Corinthians, “No one can say that Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.” No one can really know it. Unless you know He is the Lord, then you can speak of “the Lord and of His son,” for the Christ is the Son of the Lord. So, if you know the Lord, you can only know that Jesus is the Lord by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is simply memory returning. It is remembrance. “He will bring unto your memory all that I have told you.” So, when He sends the Holy Spirit upon man, then the whole thing begins to return as something that was a lost memory. So, we suffer from total amnesia.662 ¶27

Now, let us go to the Scripture, for He tells us we must be “born again,” and then, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up.” Is that something you can experience? I tell you, from my own experience, yes. You experience it in this manner: you are told at the very end of the drama, after He was resurrected, then as they crucify him and he is resurrected, came the splitting of the curtain of the temple from top to bottom. You are told in Scripture, “You are the Temple of the Living God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you.” If you are the Temple of the Living God and the curtain of the temple is split from top to bottom, is it not your body that is split from top to bottom? It cannot be some piece of cloth hanging in some synagogue or some cathedral or some church made with human hands. For if you are the Temple of the Living God and that temple’s curtain is split from top to bottom, marking the resurrection of the Spirit of God, then it is your body that is split, and it splits in this manner:662 ¶28

This comes 123 days after the discovery that David is your son, revealing you as God the Father. A bolt of lightning, seemingly out of the blue, splits you in two from the top of your head to the base of your spine. Then you look at the base of your spine and there you see a golden, liquid, pulsing, living light. As you contemplate it, you know it is your Self, and you fuse with it. You become one with that, which you contemplate, and then, like a bolt of spiral lightning, you ascend your spine into your skull once more, and it reverberates like thunder. We are told, “You will take the kingdom of heaven by storm.” You take it with violence, for when you enter, you enter in the most violent manner and the nearest thing on earth that I can use to illustrate it would be a rivet. It is like a hot, hot rivet, and you bore it into steel. This thing simply reverberates; your whole head reverberates as you go up your spine like a serpent right into your skull. So, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,” and he finds himself as the Son of Man! And if you go up that way, why, then, you are the Son of Man!662 ¶29

Then comes one that takes place 998 days later, completing the circle of 1260 days. Then suddenly, without warning, the heavens open. Your skull becomes translucent, and there is no circumference . . infinite transparency, and hovering above you is a dove, about twenty feet up. And it’s floating, yet there is no water, but it is not using its wings to remain aloft. It floats just as a duck would float, but it’s a dove. And the dove looks at you lovingly. At your side there will be a witness. In my case it was a woman of about 30. I call her the “Voice of God.” And here, as I looked at the dove, she said to me: “They avoid men, because men give off the most offensive odor. But he so loves you, he penetrated the ring of offense to demonstrate his love for you.” Then the dove descended, and I stuck my hand out with my index finger this way. It lit on that index finger. I brought it automatically to my face, and it smothered me in kisses all over my neck, my head, my face, and while it was smothering me with kisses, the whole scene then dissolved, completing the Four Mighty Acts as spoken of in Scripture.662 ¶30

So, I tell you from my own experience that the story of Jesus Christ is true. As told in Scripture, “Jesus Christ in you is the hope of glory.” Were He not in you, it wouldn’t happen to you, because all these things happen to Jesus Christ . . to the Father and the Son . . to the Lord and His Son. It has to happen to Jesus Christ. And, so, no one can say Jesus is the Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.662 ¶31

Now, He makes the statement, “When you see me, you have seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show me the Father?’ I AM the Father.” “I and the Father are one.” “Have you been so long with me, Philip, and yet you do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father.” But you do not know the Father unless the Son reveals Him, and the Son does not reveal Him . . I can talk about the Father, but you do not know that you are the Father. The Son must come into your world in the manner, which I have just described. There’s an explosion within you, and that explosion reveals that which was hidden there.662 ¶32

Well, where in Scripture is it said that He was hidden within you? We are told in the 3rd chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes, the 11th verse: “And God has put Eternity into the minds of men, yet so that man cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Now, the interpretation of this verse, which is the most disputed verse in Ecclesiastes, hangs upon the meaning that you give to the word translated “Eternity.” The Hebrew word is olam; it is translated in the King James Version as “the world.” “God has put the world into man’s mind.” In the Revised Standard Version it is translated as Eternity. “God has put Eternity into man’s mind.”662 ¶33

But the word . . you find it three times in the 17th chapter of the book of I Samuel, and this is how it is translated: He has just severed the head of the enemy of Israel, personified as the giant Goliath. It has been promised that the father of the son who severs the head of the enemy of Israel will be set free. Not the son, but the father will be set free. So, the king now turns to his lieutenant, Abner, and he asks the question, “Abner, whose son is that youth?” Abner replies, “As your soul liveth, O King, I do not know.” He sends him to inquire whose son that stripling is. No one knows. Now, David stands before the king with the head of Goliath in his hand, and he turns to David, and he says to David, “Whose son are you, young man?” Now, the three words: “young man,” “stripling” and “youth” are translations of the word olam, the same word that is translated eternity. So, when He put Eternity into the mind of man, He put David!662 ¶34

Well, now, who is David? I tell you, he is the Son. Well, now is he the son, or does he represent something? He represents the history of humanity, but that history consists of all the generations of men and their experiences, condensed into one grand whole, and that concentrated time into which all the generations of men are fused, and from which they spring, is named Eternity. That complete history of humanity, if personified, would come out as David.662 ¶35

So, the man who sees David as his son has gone through the entire history that was put into the mind of him. He has played all the parts, and having played all the parts, he is now entirely entitled to be awakened as the Father-within-him as him. And the concentration of the whole history of humanity stands before him as David, and David is the personification of Humanity. So, you can say that Humanity is the son of God! But Humanity personified as David of Biblical fame. So, all are contained within the man who awakes.662 ¶36

So, I can say to you tonight that everyone of you . . all who ever walked the face of this earth . . all that ever walked the face of this earth are now contained within you. And I can say that all things are within my own wonderful human imagination, because all are part of the history of Humanity. And having seen all personified as a single youth . . the Eternal Youth, for Eternity is a youth, not an old man . . having seen my son and having identified him as David, I know exactly who I was, having seen David.662 ¶37

So, the Bible is completely correct in saying, “No one has seen God,” “but the only begotten son who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made Him known.” “And no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal it.” So, that Son cannot reveal you as God the Father until the end when you have completed the play and played it all. When you have played it all, then automatically there is an explosion within your head. Well, that is where the whole drama takes place, and standing before you will be your son, the sum total of the history of Humanity. So, this is Eternity, and He placed it in man, “yet so man could not find out what God had done from the beginning until the end.”662 ¶38

The word end is telos, which simply means perfect . . being “perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.” It means to actually reproduce the original. Now, the Original is God the Father. As we are told: “Let us make man in our image.” Now, there is an image. That Original must be reproduced in you. So, Paul could say, “Again I am in labor with you until Christ be formed in you.” When He is completely formed in you, like a child being formed in the womb of a woman . . when it is formed, then it comes out at the appointed hour. So, this will come out at the appointed hour, but “from above.” So, there are two births: one “from below” from the womb of a woman, and one “from above” out of the skull of generic Man.662 ¶39

This is told us beautifully in the Gospel of John, but told us symbolically in this manner, “And Peter went into the tomb and the body was not there, but the linen clothes were there, and then the napkin was folded up that was lying on his head, but apart by itself.” Now you hear that, or you read it in Scripture, and you wonder: What on earth did they record this for? But John is the most profound of the Evangelists, and he told the birth in symbolism so that no one could understand it. You and I use the word napkin in a very limited sense today. We speak of a cocktail napkin, a dinner napkin, or a sanitary napkin, but the ancients had a wider use . . a wider sense of meaning for the word napkin. It meant the placenta, the afterbirth. It is that which attaches the fetus to the uterus for the purpose of nourishment, and then the uterus at birth expels the placenta.662 ¶40

So, that napkin is the evidence that a birth took place. It took place in the tomb, and the tomb’s name is Golgotha, and the word Golgotha means skull. So, there was this napkin bearing evidence of the fact that some birth took place, but that which was born has disappeared . . it isn’t here, but the evidence is here in the form of a napkin. A birth did take place. And the “linen clothes” simply mean the body out of which it came. It escaped from death, for the body is the body of death. It rose out of death, leaving behind it the linen clothes, or the body, and the evidence of its resurrection, which is the napkin, the placenta . . the afterbirth. So, this is God’s purpose.662 ¶41

Now, if you know anything in this world that could interest you more, why, then, tell it. There are men today who are in their 80’s who, every time their name appears in the paper, they add to it, “a millionaire,” and their consuming love is another million. They aren’t going to take one penny with them, but they still want another million. What I am talking about tonight would not interest them at all. But, may I tell you, the best and the worst in this world differ in only one thing: the object of their love. When you have the love for the Word of God, rather than for happiness, wealth, and so on, then you are really on your way.662 ¶42

He said, “I will send a famine upon the world. It will not be a hunger for bread, or for the thirst for water, but for the hearing of the Word of God.” Until you have played the part, that hunger will not come until the end. Men would rather have the honors of men and frame them and put them up on the wall and point them out to their friends, “Look, I got this one for so-and-so, and that for so-and-so,” and all these things mean absolutely nothing. They will vanish in no time, but what I am talking about is forever; it never, never vanishes. I am speaking of Eternity. You are headed towards an eternal life in an entirely different age . . a New Age, and this that I’ve told you tonight is the way you are going to enter it.662 ¶43

You do not enter it by giving your substance to the poor, and giving to the foundations of this world . . no. You enter it in this strange, mysterious and peculiar manner that I have spoken of here tonight. That’s how you enter it. I hope I have made it clear. It is not the easiest topic, because nothing is more difficult than to take something of this nature and strain it through preconceived misconceptions of Scripture. So, man having been taught Scripture as secular history rather than salvation history . . and I am telling you this evening all the symbolism of salvation history; it’s difficult to completely absorb it in a moment.662 ¶44

If I tell you, as I did tonight, that David is the Messiah . . and David is simply the sum total of all the events, all the experiences of Humanity . . he is the personification of human history and the Lord Jesus is The One Who plays all the parts, and He plays it in you . . and you, having played all the parts, will awaken as the Lord. And because He is God the Father, there must be a son bearing witness of His Fatherhood, and the sum total of this adventure passes before you as the Son of that awakening . . the result of it.662 ¶45

Now, because of the nature of tonight’s subject, suppose we go into the Silence, and then you start with your questions. Now, are there any questions, please?662 ¶46

And just as you are told in Scripture, “And the stone was rolled away,” but you roll it away. But it is a peculiar, unearthly sensation and a peculiar, unearthly wind. It is a storm wind all right, but it is something that is different, and when it happens, as the poet said: “All was foretold me: naught Could I foresee! But I learned how the wind would sound After these things should be.” . . Now, Robert Browning, in his poem called “Saul” . . he was inspired to write it by the 12th chapter of the book of I Samuel, and he has David say to Saul, because Saul was insane . . he had lost his memory. He suffered from amnesia. He did not know one from the other, and in this poem, David is telling Saul of the coming of Messiah, and these are the words that the poet has put into the mouth of David!662 ¶49

David turns to Saul and says: “O Saul, it shall be A Face like my face that receives thee; a Man like to me, Thou shalt love, and be loved by, forever. A Hand like this hand Shall throw open the gates of new life to thee, See the Christ stand!” . . as he stands before Saul. Browning could only have written those words after he had experienced it. So many of the great poets are writing from experience, and having the ability to tell it beautifully . . well, he is one who can tell it beautifully, and those were the words he put into the mouth of David of Biblical fame. Then memory returns.662 ¶50

After all, Paul’s first name was Saul, from the same tribe of Benjamin; and that was Saul . . King Saul. But King Saul was demented, and so was Paul’s first aspect of life, because he took everyone who followed this way and persecuted them. So his mind was demented. Then he heard the Voice say, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” He called him Saul; and he said, “Who art thou, Lord?” He said, “I AM Jesus whom thou persecutest.” And then he was blinded, and when the blindness left him, he was converted and changed his name to Paul. A complete change of heart, which is nothing but a change of nature. So, when memory returns, you are not the being that you were when you suffered from amnesia.662 ¶51

Can you conceive looking into the face of one you love dearly . . your wife, your child, and not recognizing them? We have that in all of our hospitals: those with partial amnesia, where a section of time is blotted out, and those who have total amnesia who do not remember anything, and they give them all kinds of shocks trying to bring back some kind of memory. You go and you know them, but no matter what you do, you cannot persuade them that they are who you tell them that they are. If tonight a man who had a million dollars, and you know that he has it, and his lawyer knows he has, and his banker knows that he has it, but he doesn’t know that he has, and he has a code that will not allow him to sign a check for something that he does not know that he has, he could not sign a check. If his ethical code denies that, he would not sign it for a dollar, but he could sign it and have it honored for a million dollars. So, that’s how we are.662 ¶52

Are there any other questions, please? Well, the time is almost up. This, I know, is entirely different, but, I tell you, we are mixing them up. Last night we gave you the Law, and tonight we have given you the Promise, so we are mixing them for the series. There are ten of them . . eight more to follow. Well, if there are no questions, there is no need for remaining. Thank you. Let us go into the Silence.662 ¶53

Q and A

Speaker

My dear, this is something so unlike anything I had ever experienced before . . I have had many mystical experiences and many wonderful visions, but this came so suddenly, so unexpectedly. Certainly, I did not expect it. But I did not realize how literally true, on a higher level, the Gospel story is! Your head is simply like an earthquake. I’ve gone through two very severe earthquakes in Southern California: the one in ’52 that registered 7.5, and the recent one registering 6.2. The whole house just kept shaking; we had hundreds of aftershocks. That was an intense one. But this all takes place in your head. It is all in your head, and you feel as if every bone were going to fly apart. But instead of that, you simply begin to awake. And unlike all the other waking states preceding it over the years that you have lived, you wake to find yourself, not on your bed where you fell asleep the night before, but you wake to find yourself in your skull. And your skull is quite a large area, and you are not a diminutive little thing like a miniature; you are simply your normal size, and you rise in your head. And you have the consuming desire to get out, but you have an innate wisdom of how to do it, and you do it.662 ¶48

The Dweller on the Threshold

Only that which has no right to live must die, and only that which has no right to exist must be brought to an end. And that hasn’t a thing to do with any child born of woman, or any flower that ever bloomed. It’s something entirely different from what the world would suspect, for you and I have been given the greatest gift in the world. “God became as we are, that we may be as He is.” In that, we were given complete freedom to misuse the gift of God! And that is His Power. I will share with you this night an experience of mine – it happened years ago – to show you the only thing that had no right to live – the only thing that had no right to exist, and must be brought to an end. Suddenly I found myself confronted with these two creatures: one, the most monstrous thing you could ever conceive, and the other, the most angelic being that you could think of.661 ¶1

The one that was the monster – a hairy, monstrous being – I would almost be unfair to the monkey world to call him a gorilla or a baboon, but that is the picture, only he was far more than that. And he spoke gutturally. He looked at this angelic being, and called her “Mother.” It annoyed me, and I began to pommel him, and he gloated. He loved violence. Every blow made him stronger. He was the embodiment of every evil thought and act that I had ever entertained or expressed. I was totally unaware of this creation of my own until that moment in time when I was strong enough to confront it, and I can’t tell anyone the emotion that permeated me when I saw what I had done. I created that that had no right to exist, and it must be brought to an end. I created that which had no right to live, and it must die. Blows could not kill it. It lived on blows; it lived on violence.661 ¶2

As I looked at it, an emotion permeated my being that I had never felt prior to that that I remember: one of compassion – infinite compassion, that if it took me Eternity to redeem this, I would do it. I pledged myself – there was no one I could swear to; there was no witness. Something within me pledged itself to redeem this monster if it took me Eternity. It didn’t take me more than a split second! From the moment of the decision when I decided that I would redeem it because it had no right to exist – at that moment the whole thing withered before me. It got smaller and smaller; it only took a matter of seconds really. And that thing that was a monster thing one moment before now completely withered before me, but it was all energy – misspent energy. It returned to me. I have never felt stronger than I did at that moment when all that energy that went to build and create this thing that had no right to exist returned to me, and here I am as powerful as, I’d say the Universe.661 ¶3

And this wonderful creature that was the personification of every noble, lovely thought that I ever entertained, either expressed or unexpressed – she glowed like the sun. She had a right to exist. She was the personification of my use – my wise and loving use – of God’s gift to me; and this monstrous thing was the personification of my mis-use of the same gift! That is what, one day, you will confront. That is your “dweller on the threshold.” Everyone, at a moment in time, will actually meet him and meet her, and she will live and glow, and he – in a second – will simply wither before your eyes. There was no loss. He had no right to exist. But in our progress from the receipt of the gift of God to the full use of that gift lovingly, we make mistakes. There is no condemnation of the one who made the mistake. In fact, there is no condemnation. That is the only thing that will cease to live. It’s the only thing that has no right to live.661 ¶4

So, man – the most horrible creature in the world – he has a right to live. All the Stalins in the world – they have rights to live! All the Hitlers – they have rights to live, and they will live, but one day they will confront the monster of their own creation, and they too will be filled with a compassion to redeem it, not knowing it is only the personification of their own mis-used energy. It will all return to them, and they will swell with power as the result of the return of that energy.661 ¶5

Now we are told in Scripture: “No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit.” That goes for everyone that walks the face of the earth: “No one” – you can say it in words and confess with your lips, but you don’t know it until the Holy Spirit reveals it within you. Well now, Who is the Holy Spirit? We turn to the Gospel of John. He said, “It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, cannot come to you. But if I go away, I will send him to you.”661 ¶6

Now remember his words: the Sender and the sent are one. He said, “He who sees me sees Him who sent me.” “I came out from my Father, and I came into the world.” I am never alone. The Father who sent me is always with me, but you do not know my Father and you do not know me, for the Sender and the sent are one. So, if I send the Holy Spirit – well then, you are also going to see me. But now, I will now disappear physically – that’s what you are telling them. Not a man, but your concept of Jesus Christ is of a man external to yourself.661 ¶7

The day will come that that concept that you now hold of Jesus, so that when you hear the word “Jesus” it conjures in your mind’s eye some presence external to yourself – that must come to an end. It’s an awful moment in the life of one who calls himself a Christian! When you see the story is not secular history – that we have taken personifications for persons, we have taken the vehicle that conveyed the instruction for the instruction itself and the gross first sense for the ultimate sense intended, and when the non-historicity of Scripture is revealed to man, and man accepts that so that the physical, visible concept of Jesus vanishes – he vanishes. What an awful vacuum in your life at that moment! It will continue for a while, but now, because he now vanishes from you as an external being to whom you could turn and pray and now you can’t – now the Spirit of Jesus will rise within you. It is then that the Spirit of Truth comes; and when will he rise? He comes “like a thief in the night.” Suddenly he will rise within you as you, and then you will know who the Lord Jesus is! When the Spirit of Truth unfolds himself within you as you, you will know the mystery of the Lord Jesus, and then you will know that the Lord Jesus is God! You will know from your own inner experience that Jesus is the Lord.661 ¶8

And when you read these words: “And then the kingdom of this world will become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ” , you always thought that Jesus and Christ were one and the same. They are, in a sense, but here in the 11th chapter of Revelation – and we are warned over and over: “Add not one word to this book or take one word from it,” with a threat as to what will happen if we do . Yet not one book in the New Testament has been more violated than Revelation. I have books at home concerning the Revelation of the Bible – that is, the book called “Revelation.” What stupid interpretations! Do not change it. It is all vision. Leave it just as it is, and it’s going to unfold within you.661 ¶9

So, in the 11th chapter of Revelation: “When the kingdom of this world becomes the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ” – now Christ is the Messiah. I’ll tell you who he is. The Messiah is David. That is the “Lord’s Christ,” for he said, “I am going to the Father. I am leaving the world and going to the Father. I came out from the Father, and I came into the world. Again I am leaving the world and going to the Father.” Then he returns to the Father, he is a father, and there must be a son to bear witness to his fatherhood, and that son is David. And David one day will stand before you and call you “Father.” Then you will know the “Lord’s Christ.” Then you will know Humanity, for Humanity completely gelled together into one single being and personified comes out as David.661 ¶10

So, having played all the parts, I forgive all the parts. And having played them all, I reach the end and will say, with Paul: “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is laid up for me the Crown of Righteousness.” “Let no one, now, bother me, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” – not the little stigmata, no – the marks – the great, wonderful, supernatural events through which the individual must pass. He must be “born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor the will of man, but of God – “born from above,” for, “Unless you are born from above, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven” , no matter how good you are in the eyes of yourself – and what man doesn’t think himself good and worthy to enter? Read the 16th chapter of the book of Proverbs: “Every man’s works are perfect in his own eyes, but God sees the heart” . And so because of his social, intellectual, financial” background, we think he’s worthy – well certainly he would not have these things in the world; God must have loved him more than the others because of what he has in this world! And it must be, in some strange way, some demonstration of God’s affection! It hasn’t a thing to do with it.661 ¶11

So, here in the end, you will know the Lord, and you will not know Him as something external to yourself. You will know Him as your Self. “God became as we are, that we may be as He is.” And He serves us, whether our will is good or evil. He waits on us just as quickly and as indifferently when the will in us is evil as when it is good. Now, what will? Your imaginal acts. Your every imaginal act is a creative act, and one day you are going to see it. Long before you actually see it personified, both in this lovely creature and this horrible monster, you will see the evidence of this truth by things that happen to you in the world. You will see things happen, and then you will remember: “I once imagined that. I once entertained that imaginal act, and lost myself in the belief that it was true.” And to the degree that I actually accepted it as true, it projected itself on the screen of space and became a fact in my world. At first, I didn’t quite relate it. I couldn’t quite believe that I had the power to do that. Then I tried it, and tried it again, and then again, and these things became realities in my world. Then I realized who this Being is of whom they speak in Scripture. Then we are told: “By Him all things were made, and without Him was not anything made that was made” . So then, I found who this One is. He must be my own wonderful, human imagination! If the one spoken of is God, then my imagination must be God, and that’s the Being that I have been mis-using morning, noon and night!661 ¶12

And then comes the end. When I reach the very end of the journey – and here I must, now, find that I am the Father, for the end is to find the Father, the cause of it all; and finding the Father, there must be a son, and here David stands before me! And there is no uncertainty as to the relationship between the boy who stands before you and you who see him. He knows you are his father, and you know he is your son. Everyone is going to have this experience, I prophesy for you, regardless of your present sex. In the Resurrection, we are above the organization of sex. We are a Brotherhood. All of us are Brothers; and together, collectively, we form one Being, and that one Being is God the Father.661 ¶13

And you, one day, will discover you are the Lord Jesus, and you will know who “His Christ” is, as spoken of in the 11th chapter of Revelation: “Our Lord who is now king over all the earth and His Christ.” And “His Christ” is spoken of in Scripture as the “Prince of them all”; that “I, the Lord, will be their God and King, and … David will be their Prince.” Well, if he’s a king, his son is a prince, and his son is David. Read it in the 34th and 37th chapters of Ezekiel. He states it forever and forever, but man, seeing this thing as secular history, has completely missed the entire point. So, “No man can say that Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit”; and the “Holy Spirit” is the spirit of truth which comes to man after he loses the concept of an objective, visible, secular being called “Jesus.”661 ¶14

But – “Truth embodied in a tale Shall enter in at lowly doors.” It seems that man, on the present level, could not quite grasp this great truth, so it was told to him in the form of a story. So Mother told me the story when I was a child, and told me of a Jesus – I can see a picture now on the wall of the living room. It was “The Slaughter of the Innocents.” How Mother got it, I do not know, but many a day I stood before that picture and cried, that someone could be that cruel to take little innocent children and slaughter them to reach one child that they wanted to destroy. So, they took all the males under two years of age and destroyed them to reach the one they wanted to destroy because he was prophesied as the King of Kings. He was going to come to displace all the powers of the world. I can see that picture now – some gruesome thing that Mother got. Where she got it, I don’t know. But not knowing it, having heard the story, I took it as Mother took it. We took it as secular history.661 ¶15

The Bible is not secular history. There is no secular history in the Bible. They are still looking for the bones in the Near East. They are still trying to find pieces of the wood that he is supposed to have been crucified on. They are still trying to find the pieces of cloth that he wore. And what amazes one is that there are those in the world, supposedly intelligent people, who will give a listening ear to them and bring it out to justify their own strange, peculiar misunderstanding of Scripture. I tell you, there is no burial ground of Jesus Christ, save in the skull of man. That’s the only place where he is buried – in every little child’s skull. That’s where he is buried. The little body that he wears – that is the cross, and he will wear it as long as he wears a body of flesh and blood.661 ¶16

Physical death does not terminate the little body. It is renewed, as told in the 103rd Psalm. “He renews our youth as the eagle” – the young eagle. So, you drop it off here, and suddenly, you find yourself clothed. Though you’ve dropped off a 90-year-old body, you are clothed in a garment about 20 years of age – in a world just like this, with problems just like the problems that you thought you left behind, and 99 per cent of us who depart this world, who have not been awakened from the dream of life, do not even know they have departed. They are in a world just like this, and they do not know they are even gone. They can look into the mirror and see a youth instead of the 90-year-old, and still not recognize the fact that something must have happened. They look and see a lad of 20, and they knew they were without hair, without eyes, without teeth, without everything only a moment before, but they still do not recognize it. I meet them, so I know what I am talking about. You call them dead? They are perfectly right in telling you that you are stupid because they know they are not dead. They are very much alive, so how can you call them dead? And if you say to them, “You died, you know. I was at your funeral” – as I have said to those – “I went to your funeral. I conducted your funeral.” They say, “You’re stupid! What funeral?”661 ¶17

Here he is standing before me, and he is a strong, healthy, wonderful, young lad, and I am telling him I went to his funeral, gave him a nice Catholic funeral and put him in holy ground, and had the priest do all the little things for him as his sister demanded, and I paid the expenses. She didn’t cough up one nickel, but she wanted all these things, but I loved my secretary, and I did all these things for his sister, not for Jackie. Jackie would not have wanted these things. So, I told him, “I took you up to Haverstraw, New York, and put you in a lovely little grave in a nice holy ground – a Catholic ground. The priest came and he did all these things for you.” He looked at me and laughed, because Jack to me, although he was my secretary, we were as brothers. Jack died suddenly one day on a hot day in the month of August in New York City, and I went back east and took care of the funeral.661 ¶18

And when I met him six months later, I turned to my sister-in-law and said, “How can you say there is no survival when you see Jack?” She said, “What has that to do with it?” I said, “Don’t you know he died? He died six months ago; he died last August.” This is now either late January or February of the following year and she remembered he did die, and while on her face was just a peculiar look of astonishment, Jack said to me, “Who is dead?” I said, “You aren’t dead, Jack, but you died. And I came back from California, and I got a wonderful, lovely Catholic funeral for you.” Well, he thought that was the most stupid thing in the world. I said, “Come over here, Jack,” so he came over quite obediently. I said, “Watch this, Al” – her name is Alice; I’ve always called her “Al.” I said, “Watch this.” So I put my hand on his thigh. I said, “You see, he’s solid. He is real. This is flesh and blood. My hand doesn’t go through it. This is not gossamer. It’s real!” And Jack did exactly what he would have done here. He did this: “Take your hand off me” – just exactly…661 ¶19

There is no transforming power in death. If you are a thief here, you are one there. If you are an idiot here, you are one there. The only thing that differs is that if you are now blind, you aren’t blind there; you are renewed, like the eagle. Your youth is renewed, so you do not go without the arm, without the teeth, without the hair, without these things. All these things are renewed by contemplating the Being that is Eternal. You actually contemplate, and in no time you are reclothed in a garment – a solid, wonderful garment just like the one you had when you were 20 here. Not a thing is missing. But that still will not get you into the Kingdom of Heaven. You must be “born from above.” For, “Unless you are born from above, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”661 ¶20

And that birth is literal, right out of the skull of man. One day, you will feel him. You are told, this comes with the seventh trumpet. And all of a sudden you hear it. It’s the most unearthly wind you have ever heard. As the poet said: “All these things were foretold me: Naught could I foresee. But I learned how the wind would sound After these things should be.” And you certainly learn after the wind comes. You feel it, and you hear it, and suddenly you are waking and waking and waking. And you are waking where? In your own skull. And you know your skull is a tomb – you know it! You know that it is a sepulcher, and the only reason you are in it, someone must have thought you dead, because here you are. You are entombed, and it’s sealed. There is no way out. You are all alone. There is no watchman; you are all alone.661 ¶21

Then you rise within your own skull – and you are fully grown! And then you have an intuitive wisdom as to how to get out, and no one rolls away the stone from the outside, as taught by our priesthoods of the world. You do it! From within, you push, just as a child pushes from within, and then something gives, and something rolls away – seemingly from without, but it is all because of your effort from within. And you come out, pushing yourself out of a little hole. And the first thing that comes out is your head. That comes first, then you squeeze yourself out, and then you pull the remaining portion of you, and look back at the thing out of which you came, and that is your sepulcher. That is where you were buried all along. That’s where you were dreaming the Dream of Life and thought it real. And when you come out, everything said in the story of Jesus in the Gospel concerning the birth you experience in a first-person-singular, present tense experience. The infant, which is only a sign of your own birth – that God was born.661 ¶22

It was God who was buried in you. It is God whose name forever and forever is “I AM.” And that is Jesus. That is the only Jesus in the world. “My name forever and forever is I AM.” Who is speaking? The Lord God Jehovah. Now in the book of John these wonderful, bold claims of the I AM: “I am the way.” “I am the truth.” “I am the light.” “I am the door.” “I am the true vine.” All these bold claims of the I AM. He said, “I am the only way, the only true and living way.” One day you will experience it. There is no other way to the Father, save through the Holy Spirit, who comes only after you have lost the belief in an external savior.661 ¶23

And may I tell you from experience? It’s a horrible moment in time. Raised as I was in a very wonderful Christian home, where Mother saw that we all had a solid foundation as to the story, because Mother believed the story to be true as she taught it; my father believed it to be true, and we all heard it from our Mother’s knee, and we believed it to be true. And when I heard it was not history – and when I heard of the non-historicity of the greatest story ever told, my world collapsed. I didn’t know where to turn. I had no god then! I was without anything to whom I could turn and hold onto, and, oh, what an emptiness comes upon a man at that moment in time!661 ¶24

So, you are told, “Now your hearts are distressed.” Read it in the book of John (14th chapter): “Although I have told you that I must go away, you are sad of heart, but if I do not go away, then the Spirit of Truth cannot come to you; but if I go away, I will send him to you, because I am going to the Father,” – and the Sender is the Father, and the sent is one with the Father. So, He sends his Spirit to you. When suddenly you have lost all external concepts of God, then the Spirit comes, and the Spirit unfolds Himself within you as you. And then you will know how true the Christian story is.661 ¶25

And the Christian story is only the fulfillment of Judaism. It was all foretold in the Old Testament, but they could not understand it then any more than they understand it today, because when it happened in one and that one told it – that’s not what they were looking for. They were looking for an external Savior who could come and destroy their physical enemies, and set up Israel as a mighty power. And that’s not the story at all. When you lose all concepts of a secondary cause, then Israel has no enemy. When a man has no other being to whom he can turn – he can’t turn to another – then he is freed from the tyranny of second causes.661 ¶26

But the first shock that comes to man when man actually discovers that it is not secular history – and yet more true than anything ever recorded in this world of Caesar, because all the history of the world is only an opinion written centuries after the event. All of our historical events are written after the event. Even when they are written as contemporary works, they differ. We had the Second World War, and you and I only have to remember the Second World War. Read the books concerning the Second World War. If a Britisher wrote it, then Montgomery was the outstanding General. If an American wrote it, Eisenhower was. If a German wrote it, Rommel was. If a Russian wrote it, Stalin was. All these men wrote it, and yet it is the same facts. We are looking at the facts, and yet in trying to put the facts down on paper and calling it history, they are as far apart as the poles. If that happened in our generation, just imagine what happens after three, four or five hundred years. I tell you, the Bible is not secular history; it’s salvation history.661 ¶27

The dream is taking place in Eternity, but they must be reproduced here in us while we are generated on earth, for “No one can attain to bliss except he be generated on earth.” So, here this is the most marvelous experience that you could ever have, to find yourself clothed in flesh and blood, because while you walk the earth in flesh and blood, which decays, this Immortal thing is going to happen within you, and then the Immortal You will rise, and you will know Who-You-Are. And you will know that you are the Lord Jesus. Then in your world, you will tell it, and before you depart this world for the last time – for after the “birth from above,” your physical death is the end of your journey. No more restoration, just once more, you are now one with the Father.661 ¶28

And while it happens to you, you will tell it, and there are those in the world who will see you and know you to be the same being they know, but they know that you are God. They will know that you are Stanley, and yet know that Stanley is God. They will know that you are Jan, and know that Jan is God. There is only one God, and that God is every being who awakes! It is God expanding Himself, and it takes all together to form the one God. So, “No one” – but that means no one – “can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.” And that cones after the disillusionment, and then you realize there is no secular history in Scripture. And what an emptiness comes to the individual who makes the discovery! But it’s only for a short while.661 ¶29

Listen to the words: “In a little while you will see me no more, and in a little while you will see me, because I go to the Father.” And they wondered, What is he talking about? “In a little while” you will see me no more, again in a little while you will see me, because I go to the Father.” He goes back to the Source of it all; He is one with the Father. But now you who lost the physical vision of a Savior external to yourself will receive in his place the Spirit of Truth, for he defines himself as the Truth. So, if he sends the Spirit of Truth, he is sending Himself. Now, when the Spirit of Truth comes within you, then Jesus unfolds within you. And all that is said of him, you experience as yourself. Then you will know Who-You-Are. So, in the end there is Jesus only – nothing but Jesus. And Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah “and His Christ,” which is the sum total of all the experiences of humanity personified as a single youth, and that youth comes out as David.661 ¶30

So, when you read it: “Our Lord, who is now king of all and His Christ,” so the book ends – the last book of the Bible – ends on these words: “Come, Lord Jesus.” Let it come! “Come, Lord Jesus.” But a warning comes just before that: “Do not add to or take from the words of the prophecy of this book.” But in spite of the warning, they do it morning, noon and night. But I tell you, the most impossible thing recorded there, you are going to experience. I have experienced Scripture. I am only sharing with you my experiences. I am not theorizing; I am not speculating. If I were told in the beginning of time, I must confess, I had forgotten it, for it is simply the return of memory.661 ¶31

So, the Spirit of Truth is called the Comforter. He is called the Counselor. And then you are told, when he comes to you, “he will bring to your remembrance all that I have said unto you.” So, he is a Remembrancer! So, man remembers. So, when you actually confront David, it’s not something that is taking place for the first time. You were always his father, so you must have suffered from total amnesia, because it’s like the return of memory. Can you imagine someone in this world who looks right into his wife’s face, who bore his children, and actually he cannot recognize her? Now, this is not a theory; these are facts. There are people who have a little partial amnesia, but there are cases of total amnesia where he just does not know his father, mother, children, wife, friends; he knows no one. And you can hit him over the head and give him all the shocks in the world, and you can’t bring back the memory. Well, “the Holy Spirit will bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” And what I have said to you is: You are the Lord Jesus! You are the father of Humanity. Humanity collectively, personified as a single being, comes out as David. That’s who you are.661 ¶32

Now, when your concept of a god external to yourself vanishes, and you have just a little interval of time not knowing where to go, like a ship without a rudder, but the Spirit will come in that interval. In that interval he will send the Spirit of Truth. Then the Spirit will stir within you, and then you will realize what I have told you, because you are going to experience it in the first- person-singular, in a present tense experience. Experience what? The story of the Gospel! And you will know who Jesus is. But everyone will!661 ¶33

So, let me repeat what I said in the beginning: Only that which has no right to live must die; only that which has no right to exist must be brought to an end. And it hasn’t a thing to do with any child, no matter how vile he is in this world. That was done in Love! Everything in the world that you see round about you – these are done in Love. Never would you have made anything if you had not loved it. But you are creating something that has no right to exist, and one day you will confront it, and it’s only the personification of your misspent energies – energies that you were wanton about and threw it away as though you had it forever. And you do. He gave it to you. Yes, even to mis- spend, and so you mis-spend the energy, but you will confront it. But let me comfort you. It won’t take more than a second to redeem it – not Eternity. But you cannot monkey around with it. But, may I tell you, you won’t.661 ¶34

You’ll make a pledge, not because there is someone listening – no one is listening; it’s all within yourself, and then you will know the words when the Lord swore to Abraham: There was no one to whom he could swear, so he could not swear by another. So, he swore by himself. You will swear by yourself. No one is your peer. And you will take an oath that “I will redeem him if it takes me Eternity.” And Eternity will collapse into a second, and the whole monstrous being will wither before your eyes. And the energy that made him alive returns to you. There is no loss of energy. And then she – your glorious creation – will glow like the sun. Then the whole thing will vanish.661 ¶35

So, here tonight, I hope that I have taken – in the years that I have been talking to you – your historical Jesus from you. If I haven’t, well then he hasn’t gone away. I hope I have. If perchance I have succeeded in taking the historicity of Scripture from you and caused you a moment of blackness – a moment of despair, I rejoice. Because in that absence when he goes, it’s only for a little while, then he comes again, but now he comes as the Holy Spirit. And “no one” will know – and “can know” – and can say – “that Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.” For, if he goes away, he will send the Holy Spirit. If he does not go away, the Holy Spirit cannot come to you.661 ¶36

So, as long as man holds onto his little external Jesus as a thing to whom he can turn – make a little cross, put him on the cross, stick him on the wall, and cross themselves for luck – that’s what they do, as long as you do that, you still hold something on the outside. So, if I can say “God,” “Lord,” “Jesus,” or any of these lovely names and in any way arouse within you the sense of something that exists external to yourself, then I have not succeeded in going away. But if I can mention these words and you do not jump on the outside, and you cannot turn to another, then he has gone away, but only for a little while.661 ¶37

Read it carefully. You will find the words that I have quoted tonight in the 16th chapter of John. You will find them also in the 14th chapter and the 15th chapter: “Unless I go away, the Comforter” – he is called in one translation, and the Counselor in another, but he equates it with the Spirit of Truth, “I will send you the Counselor who is the Spirit of Truth.” And when he identifies himself with Truth, he is sending his spirit, and the letter kills, the spirit makes alive.” So he will send that which will make Jesus alive within you – alive in the sense that you become Jesus, but you do not change your identity. You are still the same being that you are, and those who have the privilege of seeing you while you are still walking this earth as God and yet as the being they know – and they can’t deny the experience because they have seen it. It’s something that is completely different from anything in this world. They see you and they know you are God! It’s something out of this world.661 ¶38

As he said, “I am not of this world. I am from above. You are from below. You are of this world; I am not of this world.” So, when you see Him, He is not of this world, so you will see him as God, and still know him as your friend and your Brother. For, in the end, we are all Brothers and all friends, and all the same God and Father of One Being, who is David. Now, let’s go into the Silence.661 ¶39

The Mystery Called Christ

In the letters of Blake, there is one where he wrote to the Reverend Trusler . . the Reverend Dr. Trusler, who had criticized him for his works, and said to Blake, “You need someone to elucidate your works.” So, Blake wrote him and said, “You ought to know that what can be made explicit to the idiot is not worth my care. And the wisest of the Ancients considered what was not too explicit the fittest for instruction, “because it rouses the faculties to act.” Then he went on to say to this Reverend, “Why is the Bible more instructive and entertaining than any book in the world? Is it not because it is addressed to the Imagination, which is Spiritual Sensation, and only but immediately to the Understanding or Reason?”660 ¶1

Well, of course, the Reverend did not understand that. Like all the teachers of the world . . the religious teachers, they treat it as secular history, and Blake knew from his own experience it was not. It was God’s plan of Salvation. Man must experience Scripture for himself before he can begin to understand how altogether wonderful it is. It’s altogether true, but not on this level.660 ¶2

Eternity is actually within your Immortal Head; and that’s where the entire drama unfolds. Now, let us turn to this Book that Blake called “the greatest book in the world” . . and I will endorse that. I haven’t read all the books, but I do not know of anything that could come near the Bible in revelation. It hasn’t a thing to do with science. It’s not teaching us anything about the stars, about anything in politics; it is all about God’s plan of Salvation.660 ¶3

Here we turn, now, to the very first book of the New Testament, Matthew. “This is the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.” Here it establishes the three important characters of Scripture.660 ¶4

Now, we go back to Genesis, and start with the first one now, Abraham. “And the Lord tempted Abraham.” One translates it tested, which may be a better way . . “And the Lord tested Abraham and said to him, Take your son . . your only son . . Isaac and offer him as a burnt offering.” And Abraham took his son the very next day, with the fire and the wood and the knife, and two young men, and went up to Mt. Moriah. If you are familiar with the story, we need not tell you the entire thing, but that is the story. The Lord intervened, Abraham having met the test. He said to him, “Do not lay your hand upon the lad, for you obeyed the voice of the Lord.” And then he made him the “father of the multitudes,” for the name Abraham means “father of the multitudes” . . and said to him, “They will be more numerous than the stars, more numerous than the sands of the beach.” Well, just estimate that number . . beyond the wildest dream of man. That will be his offspring, yet he only had one son.660 ¶5

Now we know that’s a lie right away, if you take it historically, because twelve years before the birth of Isaac the Lord gave him a son whose name was Ishmael, born of a slave in the household of his wife Sarah, for she was barren and it was beyond . . well, bearing. “It had ceased to be with her after the affairs of women,” after the nature of woman. So, finding herself barren and wanting a son and an heir, she sent her servant Hagar in to her husband Abraham, that he may know her, which, as the story is told, he did, and she bore him a son, and the Lord said, “Call him Ishmael,” which means “God hears” or “God has heard.” That’s twelve years prior to the birth of Isaac.660 ¶6

Yet we are told Isaac . . and these are the words of the Lord . . “Take your son, your only son, and offer him as a burnt offering.”660 ¶7

How can the one who gave him a son called Ishmael now call this one his only son? The word translated “son and only son” appears only twelve times in the Bible, for the word one is yaw. . khad. This is translated and defined as “one, the only one, the unique one, my darling, my chosen one” . . any term of endearment. These are the definitions given to the word that is now translated “your son, your only son.”660 ¶8

Now, here, we turn now to the 22nd Psalm, which you find quoted all through the New Testament. It’s the Psalm of David. It begins, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” This is the cry on the Cross. Yet, the words are the words of David. We find the first verse, the 8th verse, the 18th verse all through the New Testament, and all these are the words of David. We find the same correspondence between the sufferings of Christ and the sufferings of David. The identical words are used, and they are all, now, in the words of David.660 ¶9

Now, in the 22nd Psalm, David sings out to his father the cry of despair, and he said, “Defend me” or “Deliver me from the sword.” “Deliver my soul from the sword and my life from the power of the dog.” Why “my life”? That’s the same word translated “your son, your only son”, so why do they now translate it “my life”? The Hebrew word is yaw-khad, and it means, “your son, your only son.” David is saying, “Deliver your son, your only son, from the power of the dog.” In the 2nd Psalm David has already declared, “The Lord said unto me, Thou art my son. Today I have begotten thee.”660 ¶10

Now he calls upon the Lord, who seemingly has abandoned him, when he said, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” Now, “Deliver” . . not my life . . “Deliver your son, your only son, from the power of the dog.”660 ¶11

Now we come into the New Testament and we find that all the things said of David are now said of Jesus Christ. What is the secret?660 ¶12

Imagine this with me. Can you imagine a command that is absolute . . a thing to be done absolutely and continuously, something stated in the imperative passive mood, like this: “Thy will must be being done. Thy kingdom must be being restored.” It’s the imperative passive mood. Think of the simple occurrence of an action, without reference to completeness or incompleteness, without reference to duration or repetition, without reference, specifically, to its position in time, but sometimes with reference to past time. Just imagine such an action taking place forever and forever, and there is no limit as to its duration. No one knows when the Father will stop the action . . when God, who set the command in force, will stop it. So, we do not know the measure of the time. It has no reference to its position in time, whether it’s the First Year B.C., the First Year A.D., or the year 1971. We do not know; there’s no reference to position in time. So, think of such an action.660 ¶13

Now, you and I have to re-enact this eternal command. You and I will have the experience recorded in that 22nd chapter of Psalms, when suddenly we are going to experience it, now, in the real way, for these are all adumbrations. The entire Old Testament is an adumbration . . that is, a foreshadowing in a not-altogether conclusive or immediately evident way. It’s a sketchy representation, omitting details . . omitting all the little things that you could add into it and put into it and see the picture. It’s a very, very sketchy picture.660 ¶14

Now we are coming to the story of David and it takes on more form now. “Say unto my servant David, When you lie down with your fathers” . . which is a euphemism for death . . when you die and sleep with your fathers, “I will raise up your son after you, who shall come forth from your body. I will be his Father, and he shall be my son.” That adumbration is taking on more fleshly states now. It’s coming down to the story of Jesus Christ, who is coming out of David. Well, now, who is David? David is the symbol of humanity. Abraham is the symbol of the Father of Eternity, “the father of the multitudes.” Who could that be, other than God?660 ¶15

So, here we have Abraham . . the symbol of the Father, David . . the symbol of humanity, and at the end of the journey something comes out of humanity, which is the Son of God that is God. So, in the New Testament, the Son is made to say: “I and my Father are one.” “He who sees me has seen the Father.” Yet, “The Father is greater than I.” He is telling us that I am not inferior to my Essential Being, the Father, only in my present capacity or office as the sent, called the Son, am I inferior, but not as to my Essential Being, the Father.660 ¶16

When I am sent, it’s the Father who’s sent. The Father sent me. Well, He had no one else to send but Himself, so He sent me. In the capacity . . in the office of the sent . . I seem inferior to my Self, the Sender, but the Sender and the sent are one. That’s what we are told in Scripture. “He who sees me sees Him who sent me.” So, if you knew my Father, you know Me, and if you know Me, you know my Father, for we are one. “I and my Father are one.”660 ¶17

So, here we find Abraham only the symbol of God the Father, David the symbol of humanity, and Jesus Christ the symbol of the Son of God, which is one with God. “I and my Father are one.” So, out of humanity God plays all the parts, may I tell you? There is not one part in the world that God isn’t playing. And having played all the parts, He extracts from the experiences of humanity that which represents, now, the Son, and that Son is called “David,” for David is the symbol of humanity. Do you understand what Blake meant when he said it’s the most entertaining book in the world, and not one book in the world compares to it? It’s the most instructive book and the most entertaining book. It’s like quicksilver. You are just about to grasp the Son, and he turns into the Father. You are about to grasp the feeling of the Father, and He turns into the Son . . just like quicksilver.660 ¶18

He simply loses Himself and eludes your grasp in His many metamorphoses.660 ¶19

Suddenly He is not the Father; He is the Son.660 ¶20

So, now, “I say to you,” said he at the very end of the story, “as the Father sent me, so send I you.” He’s playing the part, now, of the Father. He’s no longer, now, the Son; He has departed the world, and has returned to Himself the Father. “I will leave the world and go unto the Father.” “I came out from the Father and came into the world. Again, I AM leaving the world and going to the Father.” So, I return to my Self, who sent Himself as me, so He comes into the world as the Son; and while he’s in the world as the Son, having the experiences of humanity, he seems inferior to Himself the Father, and He is, for He took upon Himself the restrictions and the limitations of humanity.660 ¶21

Now we are told, when he went towards the Cross, he carried his own wooden cross on his back. Now, Abraham placed upon Isaac the wood upon his back. Isaac wondered, “Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?” for he sees now the wood and he is carrying it on his back. His father has the knife to slay him and he has the fire to burn that wood. He is going to burn him. Burning is the experiences of man. Don’t think you haven’t been burned! I don’t mean in flames. The experiences are the burnings that you have in this world. It’s from innocence through experience back to God the Father as an Awakened Imagination. That’s the whole story.660 ¶22

So, here, the father said to him, “God Himself will supply the lamb.” He is the lamb . . the symbol of the lamb. Let’s go back now to the 22nd chapter of the book of Psalms. Remember what we told you in the 22nd chapter of the book of Genesis. He took two young men, and he took the lad . . his son, his only son. Here now, the cry of David, “Deliver me” . . your son, your only son . . “from the power of the dog.” Now you read that, and you wonder, “What on earth are they talking about?”660 ¶23

I have many Bibles at home. I haven’t found one Bible that comes near the experience because they are writing and speculating. They are theorizing; they have not had the experience. But the day that you meet David, who reveals you as God the Father, is the most exciting moment in Eternity. And there are two young men, and they stand . . You are “in spirit,” but you are all-wise at that moment. David is obvious, the most beautiful lad you could put your eyes on, a lad in his teens . . early teens, beautiful beyond description. He symbolizes humanity. You have passed through all that man could ever put upon you. You have borne the fardel the allotted time, and now they are going to restore your long-lost rank. You were God before you came down, and you are going to be God by going back, but you will be enhanced by reason of the experience of becoming man.660 ¶24

So, you are looking at David. And here, to your right, are the two young men. In the Bible, for reasons, which might be obvious, they are spoken of as dogs. Look up the word dog in the Concordance . . the Biblical Concordance, and you will see it means a “male harlot,” homosexuals in the service of the priest in the temple. That’s who they were.660 ¶25

But this story was “before that the world was.” It didn’t develop. They were part of God’s plan in the beginning of time, so here they are. You do not hurt them. You are the Father now, the father of David who symbolizes humanity. You are looking at this beautiful creature, and they are looking at him, too. You are looking at him as a father to a son, eating him for his joy, his beauty, all that he means to you, his love; he is your darling, as the word also means “my darling.” But they are looking at him concupiscently; they are looking at him in the most lustful manner and you warn them of his victory. He has never failed because the Lord was with him. The day the Lord anointed him “the spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily from that day forward, and never left David.” So, David never lost a battle. Here is the head of the giant before you . . this enormous head, severed from the body as David severed the head from the body. And there it is on a table right before you, and here are these two.660 ¶26

You do not a thing about it; it’s part of the play. This play has been taking place “before that the world was”, and no one knows when it is going to come to an end. I can’t conceive of it coming to an end until everyone of us experiences the play and becomes the father of David, for it is simply God returning to Himself. That’s the story.660 ¶27

God came out from Himself into the world, penetrated these bodies, annexed these brains of ours, and made them a portion of Himself . . a temporary portion. So, while He wears the body, the body is a part of the soul of the one who wears it. He will take it off . . just drop it; it means nothing. But while he wears it in this world, it is a part of the soul of the one who wears it. So, here, the garment is not the man. The garment is simply just what it is. It is a garment of flesh and blood worn while he is in the world of the experience of man.660 ¶28

But I tell you from experience, you won’t have to wait a second when you take off that garment to see what it really is as against what you thought it was. And when they are crying and weeping because you took it off, you can’t believe that they could be so silly, but you were equally silly before you took it off. But nevertheless, you see it.660 ¶29

Before I came out tonight, this University student from U.C.L.A. . . he sits with my wife while I come to the lectures because we need someone to answer the phone and to be present, and before my friend arrived to bring me here, we got to talking about these things . . these matters. He is from Cairo; he’s an Egyptian. And he said to me, “You know, my father had this dream. He dreamt that a friend of his was walking down the street with him, and as they were walking down the street, the friend fell, and there he died. He was dead, and many of the people came around and they began to cry and to weep. They were all looking at him, and they were weeping. A week later he dropped dead; and the identical thing my father saw . . he actually saw him saying to my father, ‘What are they crying about?’”660 ¶30

Here was the garment; they were crying over the garment that he had taken off. I have seen it time and time again. So, I cannot be disturbed when a man takes off his garment. Yes, you miss the contact . . the little physical contact, but the Being who wore it is now clothed again in a garment just like it, but young . . altogether young and healthy. Whatever was missing before is not missing now. He is returned and restored to a healthy youth . . not a baby . . young . . I would say about twenty. If he died at a hundred, he’s now twenty, and he goes through the same world of man . . the same terrestrial world . . to have the experiences that he must have in order to confront David.660 ¶31

These are the three characters, each as a symbol: Abraham the symbol of God the Father, David the symbol of humanity, and Jesus Christ the symbol of God the Father having gone through the experiences, because David, now, in the spirit, calls him, “Father.” “What think ye of the Christ?” he asked. They said, “The son of David.” He said, “Well, how then in the spirit did David call him, My Lord?” If David calls him, “My lord,” how can he be David’s son?660 ¶32

So, he’s telling you that David belongs here. It’s the sum total of all the experiences of humanity, and it’s a beautiful experience when the whole thing is over. Here it seems such a horrible thing, but when it’s all over the result is transcendent . . but that which comes out as the one who was sent to have the experience, because the Father sent Himself as the Son, and Jesus Christ is the one having the experience. It is Christ-in-you that is the hope of glory. Were he not in you, you could not have the experience of being man, and so he suffers, and you call it that you are suffering.660 ¶33

But as Blake said it so beautifully: “Babel mocks, saying there is no God nor Son of God: That Thou, O Human Imagination, O Divine Body … art all A delusion; but I know Thee, O Lord, when Thou arisest upon My weary eyes, even in this dungeon and this iron mill . . . Thou also sufferest with me, although I behold Thee not.”660 ¶34

You can’t behold the Being that is having the experience as you do objects in space, because the Being having the experience is that which is called Imagination. You can’t behold imagination. Imagination is the reality that is called this-thing-called. . God. So, the Voice answers . . and it’s your own wonderful human imagination answering: “Fear not! … I AM with you always, Only believe in me, that I have power to raise from the dead Your brother who sleeps in” . . this world called . . “Albion.” . .660 ¶35

Everyone will rise. Not one can stop . . they couldn’t even stop it if they wanted to. There is no such thing as complete annihilation. There is no annihilation. You gave it up in the beginning to come here, and when you came here, you completely forgot . . total amnesia; you forgot Who-You-Were.660 ¶36

Listen to the words: “Return unto me the glory that was mine, the glory that I had with Thee before that the world was.” This is not new. You gave up the Fatherhood, and yourself came into the world as the Son . . the one that is sent . . the one that is now to be made a burnt offering. And you are the “burnt offering” in this world, and you pass through hell in this world, but you are still one with the Father! “I and my Father are one” . . even though “My Father is greater than I,” for I’ll return to my Self, the Father, having experienced what I came out to experience, and I as Father will be enhanced by the experience of being man.660 ¶37

So, everyone is going to have it. Not one will fail. So, today if I really see it clearly, you’ll see this peculiar mystery in the Bible. The whole vast world is yourself “pushed out,” and all these characters are simply states of consciousness into which you can in one little moment vanish. You try to grasp him, and all of a sudden, he vanishes into this one, into that one. You can’t quite put your hand upon Him.660 ¶38

But you do, in the depths of your Being, and you bring back glimpses of it, and then you share it with your brothers, because in the end we are all one, and yet without loss of identity. You’ll be God the Father, the father of David. And I know I AM God the Father, the father of David, and yet, we are the same father! We have the same son, and yet we have no loss of identity. That is something that is difficult to explain.660 ¶39

So, this comes to us . . this mystery called “Christ” . . he comes to us as “one unknown.” Not from the outside, he’s on the inside. He rises in us as “one unknown,” in the most strange, wonderful, ineffable mystery. Yet, He is That One who lets us experience Who-He-Is. You don’t see Him; you experience being Him, because He was called “Father” by David, and David is going to call you “father.” And may I tell you, when he does, it’s not a shock; it’s only the returning of memory.660 ¶40

You know that you have always been That that was taking place in the beginning of time, but no one could attain to that bliss, except he was generated on earth. So, man had to come down . . that is, God had to come down and be generated on earth and re-enact the drama that is eternal, for that drama was simply an adumbration. It was a sketchy representation, omitting all the details. We came down here, and we go through the furnaces, and having the experiences here on earth while we walk as man, it becomes a cubic reality.660 ¶41

And now we know the meaning of these sketches that we read in the Bible. We see, now, what the two young men were that Abraham took with him up to Mt. Moriah. He took two young men, and he took his son. Well, here was my son, and he wasn’t called “Isaac;” he was called “David,” and here were two young men. It does not describe what they were in the Bible. I know what they are. I know they are … men who looked concupiscently at my darling . . at my son, and I simply warned them of the past.660 ¶42

I warned them of what took place, because he won the battle against the giant, and he who wins that battle against the giant who would destroy Israel sets his own father free, for the promise is: “The man who brings down the enemy of Israel, I will set his father free.”660 ¶43

So, here is the giant’s head severed from the body. And who is the father of the one who brought him down? Well, I am. What is the father’s name in the Bible? The father’s name is Jesse. Do you know what the word “Jesse” means? “Jehovah exists.” That’s what it means. It is any form of the verb “to be” . . in other words, the one who bears the name “I AM.” But its true definition is “Jehovah exists.” And here, the father is looking at his son. Now you know Who-You-Are.660 ¶44

When Blake said in a very cryptic manner: After the death of Christ, he became Jehovah. He returned to Himself . . Jehovah. In the end, there is nothing but the Lord God, Jehovah. There’s nothing but God! So, He sends Himself into the world, and the thing sent is the Son. He comes bearing witness of his Father, and we speak of him in the Bible as “Jesus, the Lord” or “Jesus Christ.” He is the Savior. Well, the only Savior in the Bible is Jehovah Himself, as told us in the 43rd and the 45th chapters of the book of Isaiah: “I AM the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior, and besides Me there is no Savior.” So, if He comes as Savior, He is Jehovah. And so, when He departs, He returns to Himself, the Lord God Jehovah. There is nothing but God in the world, in spite of all the horror.660 ¶45

But this is the flame spoken of in Scripture. These are the burns. “Father, I see the knife, I see the wood” . . I am carrying the wood . . “I see the flame, but where is the lamb?” See the imagery of the lamb, the symbol of the lamb? And in the end, the Father Himself really plays the part, but in playing the part, He appeared as the Son, because there is only God the Father.660 ¶46

So, everyone is going to have the experience of Scripture, and I can’t tell anyone what a thrill it is when it begins to unfold within you. It comes so suddenly, without warning, and suddenly . . all within your head. That’s why I started off by telling you Eternity dwells within your Immortal Head. That is an immortal head. The whole play is taking place there, but in the fullness of time you’ll experience it. It is taking place.660 ¶47

It is a command that must be done absolutely and continuously, without reference to position in time, without any reference as to its completeness or incompleteness, but it is not completed until man-on-earth replays the drama. And he does it . . when he replays it within himself, it takes on the cubic reality, while as it is told through the medium of the Prophets, it is a sketchy representation, omitting all the details. That’s why the one who wrote the epistle to the Hebrews could say that “in many and various ways God spoke of aid to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by a son.” There’s no further revelation than when the Son appears, for then you know Who. . You-Are.660 ¶48

And what man is seeking in this world is the Father. Everyone is seeking the Father, the Cause of the phenomena of life. There’s only one Cause, and blessed is the man who is freed from the tyranny of second causes! So, there is only one Cause, and that is God the Father.660 ¶49

So, as God the Father tempted Abraham, He was tempting Himself, for he’s only the symbol of Himself. Can I really go through hell and return? Can I die, and rise? And God took the challenge. He could die and rise! But in rising, He enhanced the brilliance of Himself . . the greatness of Himself, because there is no limit to expansion . . no limit to His wonderful transcendency.660 ¶50

He placed the limit upon opacity and upon contraction, and that limit is man. So, when He became man . . and He could not play that He is man . . He isn’t pretending that He’s man . . He is man. He becomes man! Even though it’s a temporary garment that He wears, while He wears it, He is so identified with it; He feels that “It’s myself.” You cut Him, and He hurts. You chop off a finger and He says, “I’ve lost my finger.” He is so much a part of the garment that He wears that He can’t separate Himself from it, seemingly. But the day will come, He will simply take it off and return to Himself, but He will be enhanced by reason of the experience in this journey as man.660 ¶51

But when the day comes for the individual, no one knows of that hour, of that day; only the Father knows. No one knows but the Father. Let no one tell you that they can tell you when it’s going to happen. I know from my own experience it comes so suddenly. Little did I expect the night I went to bed in San Francisco that that night, on July the 20th, 1959, was the night. Nor on the 6th day of December of the same year, did I know that that night the Fatherhood of God would be revealed to me by His Son, who would call me “father.” Little did I know of the Ascent into Heaven on the morning of the 8th of April of the following year, 1960, and then January the 1st, when the dove descended in bodily form and smothered me with kisses, which was the Descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. Therefore, that was the climax of it all. That was putting the seal of approval on the journey, and you simply, now, delay your departure to tell and encourage those who are ready to hear it. So, those who are ready to hear it are hearing it.660 ¶52

And you can then spread the word, and tell it. You will tell it first as hearsay, but eventually you will tell it from experience, for the Evangelists in writing the story in our Gospels . . they simply related their own experience. They were not telling it from hearsay. They told exactly what happened to them, but they told it for reasons known to them in the third person. So they spoke of him constantly, but they are really telling their own experience. But no one in my spirit world has curtailed my tongue, so I was not commanded to tell it in the third person. I was simply told to tell it, and so I tell it as I must tell it, in the first person, for I am telling and relating my own experience.660 ¶53

Everything spoken of in Scripture concerning the Lord Jesus Christ I have experienced. But I am limited while I wear this garment. . with all the weaknesses of the garment, I have assumed it . . all the limitations of the garment of flesh and blood, I have assumed it, and must continue to assume it until that moment in time when I take it off, and take it off for the last time. Yet, I am one with those who have not yet taken it off, because there’s only one Father.660 ¶54

So, I cannot crow . . I cannot raise my voice and simply yell, “I did it,” although the 22nd Psalm does end on a note of that nature: Posterity will sing His praises, and they will all say the Lord has wrought it. All the things . . the horrors of that 22nd Psalm, beginning with the cry, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” and all the pleas that he makes to be delivered from all the things round about him, but in the end, the Lord wrought it, and unborn tomorrows will hear that it was done . . it was accomplished, and that will encourage them to go on through the “furnaces of affliction.” “But how long, how vast, how severe” these furnaces before man actually discovers himself as God the Father “were long to tell.” But he will discover it, and he will know he is God the Father, for there is only God.660 ¶55

Meanwhile, you take what I’ve told you so far concerning the Law, and apply it. Apply the Law.660 ¶56

Your dreams, may I tell you, are most encouraging . . most encouraging. One who saw her husband encased in all kinds of limitations from the hips down, and before her eyes they all began to crack and break and fall apart, and then he jumped and danced for joy. So, take it just as you saw it. He is released; he has been freed from the restrictions, whatever they were, in the immediate present . . completely freed.660 ¶57

And many of you have these wonderful experiences. Another one who sits next to her tonight, she had the dream of a wedding, and I was the only one . . seemingly . . that they would discuss. I sat to her right at a very long table, but across the table, and they all wondered why Neville is here, because this was a Jewish wedding. And yet, she knew that I was going to give the main speech of the evening. “Why is he here?” And so, I spoke in my own tongue, but each man heard me in his own tongue wherein he was born. And those who thought because they were all Jewish, that they would not accept me . . all but one accepted me. The one who was controversial in the beginning . . he didn’t understand one word that I said, but all the others that he thought would not accept me . . well, I thought that was the most marvelous vision that she had.660 ¶58

And many of them, one after the other . . one has had one. I will tell her now from the platform that she and her husband . . In her dream, she saw a snake . . a rattlesnake, and the husband said, “I must take off the rattlers first,” so he began to take off the rattlers, and she handed him a hammer to beat it and to beat the snake to kill it. And in beating it, she awoke.660 ¶59

Now, that is a different kind of a dream. That’s a symbol of sex. You cannot crush out sex on this level. It has to be something entirely different. You don’t crush it out. You start to crush it out, and strange, peculiar dreams will possess you. It has to be transcended in the most normal, natural manner. It’s not really transcended until you ascend into Heaven. That comes when your body is split from top to bottom, and you . . like a fiery serpent . . ascend into Heaven. When you see that golden, liquid light at the base of your spine, after your body is severed in two from top to bottom, and you see that pool of golden, living, liquid light, and you fuse with it and you become it, and like a fiery serpent, up you go into Heaven, and you take it by force. You take it violently. Now the energies that went down into generation are now reversed up into regeneration.660 ¶60

But while they are still down, if you try to kill it, as many people do, from the early church members of the Catholic Church . . his name was Origen. He had himself castrated, that he would not be tempted by the women that he was teaching. He was one of the true early fathers of the church. He was born . . or, rather, he died one hundred years before Augustine was born. That’s how early he was. He came in the Second Century A.D.; and he was one of the moving spirits in the formation of the early church, which was the Catholic Church. And you read the story in the Encyclopedia Britannica. His name was Origen, and he castrated himself that he may not be disturbed when he had to face women and teach them the mystery of Christ.660 ¶61

But he still could not cut it out that way. You can castrate the man, or woman, but it will still be in his imagination, and his dreams will still be of that nature. So, you cannot hit it and kill it. It’s simply something that leaves you by a reversal of energies. It turns from generation into regeneration.660 ¶62

Let us now go into the Silence.660 ¶63

Tonight is the Law. We are told in the book of Acts that: “God is not far from each one of us, for in Him we live, and move, and have our being.” I would like to change that a little, and say to you that: God is never so far off as even to be near, for nearness implies separation. And God and Man are one. “Man is all imagination, and God is man, and exists in us and we in Him.” “The Eternal Body of Man is the imagination, and that is God Himself.” So, He cannot even be near, for nearness implies separation. On this level, you and I can go amuck, go berserk, exercising this same power that created the universe and sustains it. Your own wonderful human imagination is God. That’s God! “By Him all things were made, and without Him was not anything made that was made,” . . good, bad or indifferent.659 ¶1

Now tonight let me share with you some experiences to show you that it is all your own wonderful human imagination. You might have read last Saturday’s Los Angeles “Times.” On the front page in bold, bold type is the story of a plane. A story was told, and shown on TV, and very, very popular by Rod Serling, and here, a man was influenced to take that story and put it to his own personal gain. So, he threatened Qantas, the Australian Airline, with a hundred and seven passengers aboard that he would blow the plane up at a certain airport if they did not pay five hundred and sixty thousand dollars, which they did. They paid him, this extortionist, $560,000, based upon a so-called “Imaginary” plot by Rod Serling. When he realized what he had done, so he claims in the story, he asked his producers to withdraw the film from TV and not show it any more. They refused because of profit; it was written for profit, shown for profit, and will continue, regardless of Qantas or any other airport of unnumbered people that may suffer as a result of it. I did not see in his regret that he is going to give his income from the residuals to Qantas to repay the $560,000. No, he didn’t say that he would pay back what he would now make to the Australian airport; he is going to keep it and write another bunch of nonsense, because he doesn’t know what you know, that: Imagining Creates Reality. For, God-imagining creates, and God is man, so man-imagining creates. There is no separation between God and man. We are one. “God became as we are, that we may be as He is” , allowing Himself on this level to make all the mistakes in the world, to go berserk and to imagine any stupid thing in the world.659 ¶2

Now, let me share with you a few stories. These stories by William Butler Yeats . . you can find them in his volume called “Good and Evil.” They first came out at the turn of the Century. It is part of his collective works, but this individual volume has been reprinted, I think, three or four times, and this is the chapter which he named “Magic.” He said: “I was spending a vacation in Paris, and I got up early. I thought I would go out and get the morning paper before my host rose, and then I came through, and I saw the little maid laying the table for breakfast, and I told myself one of those long, stupid stories that one tells only to oneself. “If something could happen which had not happened, I would have hurt my arm, and so I imagined myself with my arm in a sling. As I passed by, I had so completely imagined myself with my arm in a sling that I cast my imaginal act upon that sensitive child . . the little girl who was simply preparing the breakfast table. When I returned with my paper, my hostess met me at the door, and she was all in a dither, inquiring about my arm, for she said that the little girl, the maid, had told her that Mr. Yeats came down with his arm in a sling. Then I remembered what I had done. I simply imagined that had I done what I had not done, I would have hurt my arm, and my arm would now be in a sling, so I cast my imaginal act so intensely upon that maid that she saw it as an actual fact.659 ¶3

“Now,” he said, “just about the same time I thought intensely of a fellow student and a message I wanted to give him, but I did not wish it committed to paper. I wanted to tell it to him, but he was not present. Two days later I got a letter from this fellow student who was several hundred miles away, and just about the time that I had intensely thought of him and the message, I appeared, seemingly, in bodily form, as though in the flesh, in a large hotel where he was amidst a large crowd of people and he told me that he would like me to return after the crowd was gone, and then I vanished and returned that night at midnight and told him the message, which he told me in his letter. “Now,” he said, “I have no conscious knowledge of the projection. I only know that I intensely thought of my fellow student and the message I wanted to convey, and there I appeared in the midst of a huge crowd in a hotel several hundred miles away, and he was telling me to return later after the crowd dispersed, which I did at midnight, and told him the message. “Now,” he said, “I could tell you unnumbered stories of the power of imagination.”659 ¶4

Then he tells the one of Joseph Blanco, which is a popular story and supposedly very, very true, of this student at Oxford University finding himself . . well, without funds, so he could not continue his studies, so the day that he left college because he could not afford to continue he found no job, and he joined himself to a bunch of gypsies . . traveling gypsies. And one day two students who knew him at college came upon him among the gypsies, and he made a sign not to be identified, and then came up afterwards, and he told them, “I’ll meet you at the inn, and then I will explain to you why you find me among this crowd.” Well, they were curious and went to the inn, and when he came into the inn, he told them that they are not quite the vagabonds that people think they are. They have a secret that is not known at Oxford, “none of our professors know it. I know I never heard about it,” said he, “so no one knows it, but I will tell you what they have taught me. I have learned all that they have taught me so far, and I have improved upon it. Now to show you what I mean by it, I will leave you two fellows alone, and when I return I will tell you what you have discussed in my absence.” So, when he came back, he told them in detail what they had discussed, everything they had discussed, and they were curious, and wondered why. He said, “You had no choice in the matter. I determined what you would discuss. My imagination led yours. Their story is all about imagination, and they, by the complete control of their own imagination, influence your behavior. That’s what I learned from them.”659 ¶5

Well, if God makes all things, then God must be the human imagination. If a man can so control his own imagination that he influences your behavior, and you think that you initiate what you do when it was the man in control of his own imagination that did it, then we understand what the poet meant: “All things, by a law divine, In one another’s being mingle.” I see you. You see me. Were we not intermingled, I couldn’t perceive you. If I couldn’t penetrate your brain and you couldn’t penetrate mine, you wouldn’t see me. So: “All things, by a law divine, In one another’s being mingle.” Imagination is that non-objective reality from which all objects pour forth, just like sudden fancy. Everything in the world comes out of one’s own wonderful human imagination, for that is God! And there is no other god.659 ¶6

I know in my own case, sitting in New York City in my apartment, with the urge to comfort my sister two thousand miles away across the water, simply stretched out on my bed . . I left the living room, went to my room, closed the door and asked my wife not to disturb me, and in that interval I assumed I was in Barbados and on the bed where her son was dying of cancer. There was no hope of recovery. He was riddled at the age of seventeen with cancer. And to comfort her, I assumed I was her son, and actually felt myself to be there. I imagined that I saw my sister Daphne come through the door and look, and she saw her brother Neville rather than her son Bill, and she came over and she looked at me. I saw her, and then I awoke back in New York City. Eight days later . . this was before we had such a thing as airmail . . it came by slow freight, so eight days later I got a letter from my sister Daphne. She said, “Neville, I don’t understand it,” and she dated the letter the day that I did what I just told you. She said, “I went to the room to see Billie. As I entered the room, it was you! I came over, and I looked at what should be Billie, and I am looking at you! I came over, and I looked at what should be Billie, and I am looking at you! I rubbed my eyes; I did everything to bring about the normal vision, but I couldn’t see my son Bill. I am only seeing my brother Neville, and I couldn’t understand it.” Now, she began to feel, through the superstitions of the world, because Billie was dying of cancer that the next one to go would be her brother Neville. That’s how she interpreted it. She didn’t know what I was doing in New York City. But what I did, did not help; he died. He died of cancer. But I succeeded in projecting myself two thousand miles away onto a bed I knew so well. It was my father’s room; it was my father and mother’s bedroom, and I knew that that was where Billie was sleeping, so I assumed I was on that bed actually in the place of Billie, so that when my sister saw me she would be encouraged to have faith, to have hope.659 ¶7

But she was so disturbed because, no matter what she did . . she rubbed her eyes, closed them, opened them, closed them, opened them, and she is still seeing Neville; she can’t see her son.659 ¶8

Now, when you hear these stories from those who are not lying to you, you may not understand it, and reason will deny it. Well, if you have an experience, even though reason denies it, you can’t deny the experience! My sister cannot deny what she actually experienced, and I could not deny what I did, because when I came out that night into the living room, a friend called at the cocktail hour, and she said, “Neville, you always seem so light and gay, but tonight you seem so heavy of spirit.” So, I told her what I had just done. Well, eight days later when the letter came, I gave it to that same woman who was home again at the cocktail hour, and showed her what my sister had written. So here, my wife and my friend were witnesses to what I had told them eight days in advance that I had done; then came the letter from my sister asking for some explanation of it. So, I tell you, I know from experience that imagining creates reality.659 ¶9

On this level, we are only learning. We are all students. We are simply in kindergarten, and we go berserk, as Rod Serling did, for he made a fortune writing this story, and it is still being shown all over on TV, and he will still get his residuals, and he will take his residuals and pile it into some IBM stock or some other stock. He hasn’t given it away. He’ll write more nonsense, for it’s all nonsense, but he doesn’t realize what he is piling up for himself.659 ¶10

“Be not deceived. God is not mocked.” “As a man sows, so shall he reap. See yonder fields! The sesamum Was sesamum, and the corn was corn. The Silence and the Darkness knew! So is a man’s fate born. ” So, let no one think he is getting away with anything! Misuse your talent, and you will reap seeming rewards today in dollars and cents; tomorrow you will reap it in another kind of payment . . another kind of payment tomorrow. And dollars and cents cannot buy it. Dollars and cents cannot free you from it, either. You will go through the experience of having misused the talent that you received. The talent is the gift of God Himself. God actually became man, that man may become God.659 ¶11

So, this is the Law by which we live. Learn to use your imagination lovingly on behalf of everyone in this world; because you are going to reap the fruit of it, whether you use it lovingly or unlovingly, you are going to reap the fruit of it.659 ¶12

So I say to you tonight: God is not apart from man. He is never . . not in Eternity . . so far off as even to be near, because nearness implies separation. That statement from the 17th chapter of Acts would imply separation. He is not even separated . . He can’t even be near you, because He is your own “I.” When you say, “I,” that is God! When you say, “I AM,” that’s God . . His name forever and forever . . and there is no other god. The minute you say, “Thou,” that’s a false god. If you address Him as, “You,” that’s a false god. The only God is “I AM.” “That is my name forever, and by this name I must be known throughout all generations.” So, do not misuse it.659 ¶13

Now, you can set yourself a goal . . any goal, and if you really know exactly what things would be like if you had realized it, and then enter into that state, may I tell you? It will become to you objective. At the moment, it seems only a shadow . . just a shadow because you have not entered into the sketch. When you enter into the sketch, the sketch takes on a cubic reality, and becomes objective to you, not to another, but to you. Now, leave it alone. In time . . in its good time, it will flower and become what the world calls an objective reality. It was real the very moment that you entered it because you were the reality. “All things exist in the human imagination,” but all things. You name it, it exists in you, but it exists in you only as a shadow. It’s shadowy. But if you enter into the so-called shadow and clothe yourself with it, it ceases to be a sketch, and it becomes a cubic reality just like this room. At this moment, your home that you know so well is only a shadow, and this room that you do not know very well . . it seems so real because you are in it.659 ¶14

Now everything in this world . . so. . called natural effects – “Every natural effect has an imaginal Cause, and not A natural. A natural cause only seems; it is a Delusion … of the fading memory.”659 ¶15

Our memory . . yes, it’s good. It’s adequate for sameness, but it is not perfect. I’ll show you. When you go home tonight, take an ordinary magazine; take the cover, a landscape or a postcard, and look at it and know exactly what you are doing. You are looking at the postcard. Try to memorize it. Spend as much time as you want on it; spend an hour if you want. Try to memorize that card. And you think you know it. All right . . you know it. Now, turn it over and try to reconstruct it from your memory of it, and be honest with yourself and see how far you are from what you were observing. Yet, when you turn it over, your memory picture of it is good enough for sameness. You know it’s the same card because it is good enough, but it is not good enough for the after-picture. So, our memory is all right; it is good enough for the cause of sameness. So, that is why man does not remember what he has imagined. He forgets what he has imagined when he sets it in motion. When it confronts him as his harvest, he denies he had anything to do with it. He can’t remember what he did.659 ¶16

Now, every imaginative man in this world is forever casting . . I would say “glamors,” and influencing the entire world of the passive, unimaginative. They are forever falling under the influence of those who are vivid in their imagination. They are reaping it, and you will understand the cry on the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” for some vivid imagination has compelled them to act as they act. So, forgive them . . the actors. Any condemnation goes to the author, not the actor. Man condemns the actor in the drama when really, if there is any condemnation, it is really the author, not the actor. And the author of the play is God! For God is your own wonderful human imagination.659 ¶17

This one that extorted $560,000 from Quantas . . he didn’t conceive it; he saw it on TV, and it gave him an idea, and he thought, “Maybe I can get away with it.” Well, who was the author of it? Rod Serling. He was the one who conceived it, and here was an actor who thought, “Here’s an idea to get a half-million dollars”, and he got it because there were a hundred and seven souls aboard that plane, and they couldn’t run the risk that it may not be true; that if at a certain altitude it would go off, then they had to pay that extortionist that $560,000 and save the lives of the hundred and seven souls aboard that plane. So, he got the money, and he was the actor. If they catch him, undoubtedly they will send him up for life, but who is the actual culprit? Serling. He wrote it, so he is making all kinds of money out of that scene that he wrote, and he continues to make it. He wrote a series that went for two or three years at prime time. It is now still selling at other times called “Twilight Zone” . . all out of his marvelous imagination. It doesn’t hurt anyone what he did to that one, but he has made a fortune using the talent. But in this, he misused his talent, and his regret does not alter the fact. But, in the end, no one gets away with any misuse of this talent. He pays for it in a way that money will never be able to compensate. That’s the story.659 ¶18

So, your own wonderful human imagination is God, and that God is creating all the phenomena of the world. As Disraeli said, “Man is not the creature of circumstance; circumstances are the creatures of men.” We are creating them. We are not the victims of circumstances; we are creating circumstances. “Man is not the creature of circumstances; circumstances are the creatures of men.”659 ¶19

Benjamin Disraeli . . don’t discount him. Here was a man . . an able, able man . . who said, “Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism.” He never denied that he was a Jew. His very name tells you who he is. Benjamin Disraeli, . . “D’” is “of’ Israel; Benjamin of Israel is what his real name is. He never denied he was an Israelite, but he knew that the Christian faith, if properly understood, was but the flower . . the fruit on the tree of Israel, the fulfillment of it, when God actually became man and flowered in man, and the whole vast wonderful imagination that is God awakened in a man, and he knew that he was God! And he tried to tell his world, and they denied it. That was not what they were looking for, when it was buried in every man, and in each man he was to awaken. And when he awakens, he is God, but before He awakens . . oh, does he go amuck! Does he make mistakes . . these horrible mistakes in the world? But the day will come, he will completely awaken within man, and when he does, He will be governed by Love, and nothing but Love. Until we are completely governed by Love, what horrors we create in this world!659 ¶20

So, the whole vast objective world is created by the imaginal acts of man. Everything now proven in the world was once only imagined. I don’t care what it is . . the simplest little thing, a chair, the dress you wear, the hat, the house . . everything was only imagined, and then executed. It began all in the imagination of man. So, everything that is in this world is nothing more than the imaginal acts of men “pushed out” . . good, bad or indifferent.659 ¶21

So, tonight you take me seriously, and know that you . . and you alone . . are responsible for the phenomena in your world. If you are passive and not alert, you can be influenced because: “All things, by a law divine, In one another’s being mingle.” But it is still the one Being, and so you can be influenced. You and I . . I trust that you cannot be influenced to take pictures shown on TV and extort a half-million dollars . . I trust your ethical code is beyond that, but not everyone is beyond it. You and I, I hope, are beyond such things, but there are unnumbered people who are not, and they will simply be influenced by the powerful imagination of a writer, a very successful writer, who . . if tonight he was invited by some university to speak on the art of writing . . could demand maybe two thousand or three thousand dollars for his appearance. And he knows nothing concerning the story of the Bible . . but nothing! Had he known it, he would not have done it. So, you know it, and he doesn’t, so he makes his three thousand if he wants to take it. He doesn’t have to take it; he has so much money he doesn’t need it. But you have what he doesn’t have. You have awakened to the point of knowing how to use your imagination lovingly on behalf of others.659 ¶22

So, this is the law of Scripture. When we speak of the Law and the Promise, this is the Law: that your imaginal acts are creating facts in the world. Imagining creates reality. So, watch carefully what you are imagining. When you return home tonight and you are about to go to sleep, see that your mind is filled with lovely things . . imaginal things . . and drop off into that state. “Do not let the sun go down upon your anger.” Actually resolve it within yourself, and sleep as though things were as you would like them to be or make them lovely . . make them altogether marvelous in your world.659 ¶23

I tell it for your own good, because in the not-distant future . . not only the little crowd here; but the whole vast world will have departed. Those who are now claiming themselves to be “another generation” and demanding special service . . they will in the not-distant future be old people who will vanish from this world. It’s time that we all wake up and catch on to what really is causing the phenomena of the world. And the phenomena of the world are caused by the imaginal acts of men.659 ¶24

So, you take it seriously, and do not let one day come to its end without revising and changing the imaginal acts of the day. Make it conform to your dream, to your ideal, and live in it just as though it were true.659 ¶25

I am telling you from my own experience, the day will come that you will sit and you will think of something that isn’t present . . the world calls that imagination; if you see something that is present, they call that “sense perceived” . . that’s real. If you think of something that is not present, they call that imagination. But you will know how to enter that which is not present to your senses, and your entrance into it will give it cubic reality, and it will be just as real as the room in which you are seated. It will become objective to you. The whole vast world is just like that! But that will be transcended by the Being that is going to be awakened within you, for that Being who awakes within you is God Himself! This is God keyed low to the human mind, and when He awakes, it is God at intensity, and there is nothing that is absent, for He is Omnipresent. So, He views everything from where He is. He doesn’t think of, because He is Omnipresent.659 ¶26

And being Omnipresent, He sees every being as they are, and they are not what they appear to be outwardly to the world of sense. They are what they are in heart. He sees exactly what they are thinking, what they are feeling, what they are plotting, what they are planning. He sees all the intentions of the heart. So, when someone tells you, “Well, why did it happen to him, and not to that one, when he is so prominent in the world? Look what he did. He built a hospital. He endowed it. He gave a fortune.” But God sees the heart. He doesn’t see the fortune he gave to build the hospital or even to endow it. He sees what no one on the surface sees; He sees the motive behind the gift. He sees everything behind it all. Because He is Omnipresent, He sees everything as it is.659 ¶27

So, when you are told, “He called all before Him and said, No, I reject him” . . this is to pick out the one called David. He rejected his brothers because he said, “Man judges after the appearance, and God sees only the heart.” So, “I reject him,” “I reject him,” “I reject him.” “Call the other one,” and then came David. “Now there is a man after my own heart, who will do all my will.”659 ¶28

So, now you realize, if you take it seriously, what is in store for all of us. The end is God. The origin of all is God. In the interval, we go berserk. We run amuck.659 ¶29

But if you know what you could do, start doing it. Don’t wait. You can be the man . . you can be the woman . . that you would like to be, but wanting it is not going to do it. You must be it. You can’t just say, I would like to be it; you must assume that you are it, and sleep in the assumption that you are it, for the assumption, though at the moment denied by your senses . . denied by everything round about you, if persisted in will harden into fact. So, you dare to assume that you are the man . . the woman . . that you want to be, and day after day live in that assumption as though it were true, and that assumption will become a reality in the world. Even if you go hungry, it doesn’t matter. No matter what happens, go hungry; but persist in the assumption, and that assumption will objectify itself and become a reality in your world. Do not fall by the wayside for any little thing on the side.659 ¶30

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am when I get your letters where, in your dreams, you are teaching the Law of Imagination! Someone in your dream has an argument, say, with a priest or a rabbi or a minister, and you are instructing them and telling them. Now, a dream, you know, is egocentric. It’s yourself “pushed out”, but yet here you are . . you actually are taking the symbols of authority and simply bringing them down to a certain level . . it is no longer your authority. You are instructing, now, and telling them . . which is yourself made visible . . what you have discovered concerning the cause of the phenomena of life. And when you have these dreams and you share them with me . . tell them as you do . . I can’t tell you my thrill.659 ¶31

So, everyone will, one day, awaken, and when he awakens he awakens in the only place where God ever awakens: he awakens in the skull of man, in Golgotha . . the human skull. And when he awakens, he comes out of that skull, and it is God that is born . . “born from above”, and then he goes through the normal series of time, and he arrives at that point where he becomes . . well, “of age.” He reaches the age of spiritual puberty, and then the earthly father disappears. For when he reaches the age of 12, Joseph disappears from the scene, and he is now a creator. He can actually create his own image. He creates because he has reached the age of spiritual puberty, so the earthly father ceases to be a part of the play when the lad in the temple reaches the age of twelve. But he has foreshadowings of it, before and after. It is approximately 12; it didn’t say twelve. “When he was about twelve years of age, they sought him, and they wondered, ‘Why did you do this to us?’ And he said, ‘Do you not know I should be about my Father’s business?’” And he is talking to his father and his mother. “They did not understand him.” And then, Joseph disappears from the play. He is no longer brought back into the play, for he has become the Father. So, the Son becomes the Father. He now creates as God the Father.659 ¶32

But tonight I want it to be only on this level . . the level of . . well, the Law, where man, if he is in control of his own imagination, is in control of the phenomena of his life. He is not the victim of circumstances; circumstances are the creatures of himself. He creates them, if he knows what he is doing. If he doesn’t know what he is doing and he is passive in this world, he can be influenced by the imagination of one who is in control of his imagination, for he doesn’t know what he is doing like Serling didn’t know. Had he known, he wouldn’t have done it. And to this day he doesn’t know. He only regrets what he did, but he doesn’t know that his imagining is creating reality. He sees the evidence before him, and still doesn’t know it.659 ¶33

I tell you: Imagining creates reality. So, be careful what you imagine, because you are setting in motion . . and because – “All things, by a law divine, In one another’s being mingle,” . . you are influencing everyone, even though they do not see your picture or read your book. As Yeats again said: “Having seen the operation of this law, we should never be certain it was not some woman treading the winepress who started that subtle change in men’s minds, or that the passion because of which so many countries were given to the sword did not begin in the mind of some shepherd boy, lighting up his eyes for a moment before it ran upon its way.”659 ¶34

Who knows who, this night, feels neglected, feels hurt, feels wrongfully accused, and who is sitting alone and “treading in the winepress,” who tomorrow will influence some catastrophe? Some shepherd boy dreaming of some heroic future and thinking only in terms of war that could bring him the crown of a hero . . he . . while tending his sheep . . is simply dreaming of being a hero, and using his talent, which is God . . using his imagination in some destructive manner, even though he tends the sheep.659 ¶35

So, I say to everyone, “Know what you are doing every moment of time because your imagining is creating reality.” Now, let us go into the Silence.659 ¶36
